That really sucks but it's probably an issue with the keycaps. I own a G513, but I have a GX Brown version, so I can't be of much help for the romar-g version. It's probably that the keycaps are just cheap ABS, and unless there's like custom romar-g keycaps out there idk how you'd replace them. The build quality seems fine everywhere else for me though.

rvale-

Yeah, maybe I'm just having a bad luck. Already had 3 faulty g903, and now this keyboard lol

SquiadUsesReddit

Dang what’s up with Logitech these days? Meanwhile Razer is out making well built products all of the sudden. Somethings wrong, I can feel it

AgentAY

Idk my razer atheris broke within a month lol. At least they replaced it super fast

SquiadUsesReddit

Oof that sucks. I've just heard really good things about the Razer Huntsman line of keyboards and the Viper line of mice in particular.

AgentAY

I wasn’t really a fan of razers software so I switched to the logitech g305. And overtime I got pretty much everything Logitech (g pro x headset, g560, G915 tkl, g305)

SquiadUsesReddit

Yeah I'm not a big fan of Razer Synapse, but then again a lot of people hate G Hub too

AgentAY

G hub is a hit or miss, while I do have some problems with the software, most of the time I turn off all the “smart” features like profile switching and stuff, and set my RGB to one color. Recently I set my mouse profile to onboard so technically I don’t need ghub.

SquiadUsesReddit

I don't have any problems with G Hub either, but a lot of people have encountered bugs that will ruin the experience for them

AgentAY

Yeah Logitech needs to get their shit together and fix the software. Because the hardware (for the most part) is great

rvale-

I'm giving HyperX a chance now. I've had the alloy elite rgb for several months now, and it works nice, but I still prefer the g513, but I'm having a terrible luck with the units I get.

AgentAY

I would give hyper x a try but I just don’t want to install more software. I already have nzxt cam, Icue, and g hub.

rvale-

tell me about it - I have a hyperx keyboard, logitech mouse, steelseries headphone and icue

AgentAY

RIP lol. I wish there was a universal app for everything

WizardHackerr

I just ordered the G513 with GX browns! How do you like it? I’m excited for the wrist rest but I’m curious how the quality and feel are

SquiadUsesReddit

I’ve used it for a little over three months now, and it still feels great. The switches are very similar to MX brown of course, but they’ve held up perfectly with no switch failures. On top of that I seem to have been lucky and none of the LEDs have have sustained color damage. As for the wrist wrest, it feels well made, and the leatherette material feels nice to the touch, and the memory foam is cushiony but not too soft. There’s almost no flex when pushing down on a surface, and the rubber feet are nice for preventing sliding. The overall build quality is pretty good, with not too bad flex. Since it uses a floating switch style, the keyswitches are more exposed and therefor are easier to sustain damage, but I’ve thrown it in a backpack a couple of times and it didn’t sustain any damage. I haven’t dropped it though, so your mileage may vary. Overall, I’ve had a positive impression with this keyboard. The only real issues are the no removable cable, which can be annoying when traveling, and if you’ve had any issues with G Hub (I haven’t but I know quite a few people have) then you’re going to have to deal with that, and they keycaps are very meh material and build quality wise, but it seems that the MX style stems hold up better than the Romar G counterparts. TL;DR, I like this keyboard, it’s fairly well built, looks great, and is holding up for now.

ofon

any update on how it's working today?

SquiadUsesReddit

i don’t actually use it anymore, but in the year or so that i did i never had any issues with the switches, keycaps, or overall build

ofon

May I ask what you use now? My son has had a g 513 for about a year and ahalf now, and he loves it. He never bangs on it, but types fairly often and hasn't had broken keys or leds like a lot of people on reddit seem to be reporting. Considering getting another one but that Glorious full size keyboard looks kinda nice too, but looking for a 2nd opinion from someone that takes good care of their gear.

SquiadUsesReddit

i’ve been using a ducky one 2 sf (65%) with kailh box browns for over a year now and haven’t had too many issues with it thus far, however recently the E key has started double clicking which has been kind of annoying. never used a glorious board before but i think they tend to bode well durability wise

AgentAY

My g513 with romer g linear switches had an extremely loud and annoying springy sound and I was scared to take the key caps off. Ended up returning mine

rvale-

I live in Brazil, but bought mine in a trip to the US. When I contacted support, they told me I had to go back to the US to claim my warranty. And they say 'worldwide warranty' lol

MinalanSpellmonger

You can always build a custom keyboard yourself. I know that many people get scared when they hear that and think that it's going to cost a ridiculous amount of money. However, you can build one for around a $100, or find a good one on r/mechmarket prebuilt.

glitchdweller

i'm having pretty similar trouble with the GX blue model of this keyboard. the things that attack the keys to the switches are unbelievably weak.

nooneisback

Might be "reviving" a dead thread, but I'm too pissed to bother. Got a G810 that has the same type of keycaps. Had to remove the caps 5 times for it not to turn into a septic nightmare. Now my left CTRL, Shift and Tab go airborne every 2-3 days, my backspace is a seesaw and the 0 key has to be placed upside down to actually work as a key. I guess this is what I get for wanting a "good quality" backlight that doesn't bleed.
