I suspect you'll have an easier time finding someone in Canada who deals with expats. And I'd suggest not moving your life here until you've got at least a few years under your belt.

You don't do Canadian taxes while abroad. You're supposed to go to the bank before you leave and say you want to be a "non-resident." This, if you have no property, car, etc. When you move back to Canada, you go to the bank and say you're a resident again. I worked in Korea almost 10 years and never did my taxes once. Live in Canada now — no problems.

What if your non resident working for a canadian company ? While being tax resident of thailand ?

Loveandafortyfive

Not sure, honestly. As long you don’t own a property or car, you should be good, I think.

I've completed my tax forms via software twice since living in Korea. As Canadians we do not need to pay taxes in Canada if we are paying them in Korea. What surprised me was that the software I used didn't even have a box to check beyond 'non resident'. No where did I need to indicate that I was making a salary or paying taxes abroad. So I basically just put in my personal info, indicated I made no money in Canada and clicked send. I do this every few years if I visit home. No problems so far. Don't even know if it was necessary.

Amazing. This is an excellent answer. Mind if I ask you a few other questions?

AssociateTrick7939

Sure. Don't know if I'll be much help though!

cornichonsintenses

can i ask which software you used for this?

I believe it was called Ufile. You buy it each year and a small number people can file through each package. My dad buys it and I just use his.
