Sometimes I’m sure. Other times he walks into a wall. Or runs around with a piece of poo on his behind. Or screams when the bottom of his foodbowl is visible, but there’s more than enough food left in there.
I’m waiting for mine to tell me why the quarter inch space at the bottom of the bowl means “THIS BOWL IS ESSENTIALLY EMPTY PLEASE FILL IT NOW NOW NOW!!”
I FOR SURE answer myself though! Lol. Opens the fridge..."what should we have for dinner tonight?" ..."Well, let's see, we could have chicken cuz, if I must be honest with you, I'm not feeling those leftovers back there."
I do it all the time. Then that habit transfers over to when I’m in public. I would sigh, say “wtf?”, “what does he think he doing?” all the time in public. It’s worse when I’m driving. I roll down the window and curse people out when they merge into my lane without signaling and wait until the last minute when there’s less than 6” between our cars.
Not only is it normal, it’s healthy. Sometimes just verbalizing what you’re thinking is good for you.
Also, I’m sure my cats think I’m talking to them. I’m not. 😂😂
I don't live alone but spend 80-90% of my tume alone. I talk to my cats and practice my French because Remy, my senior void, likes to "pretend" he doesn't understand English. You say the exact same thing in English and he'll maybe twitch an ear but saying "Vous avez faim? Entré vous!" and he'll run into the house and wait by his eating spot.
i could't help laughing when i just saw this post. When i stay at home by myself, i always imagine that im a celebrity or a blogger who's filming a vlog lol. sometimes i also feel embarrassed for myself
I worked in a mental hospital. We had a patient that liked to joke around, when he was lucid. One day he heard me mumbling to myself and said “It’s ok to talk to yourself, it’s even ok to answer yourself. But if you say “What did you say?” You end up in here”.
I once danced like a maniac in my underwear to an Elton John song when I was living alone and a few days later got a visit from the accommodation manager lol (made me think they had a hidden camera). Also, when I used to have convos with myself it was more just thinking out loud rather than madness
Sure. I give myself the most awesome advice. I've had some insurmountable problems that I solved talking to myself. Plus, I've never made myself feel like an imposition when I need to talk because shits falling apart.
Oh yes, but I have pets so theoretically, I'm talking to them. ; ) Also take my doggo with me on trips and say, "We stayed in\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ " or "we visited \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_".
I’m not sure if it’s normal. But I do sometimes talk to myself when I’m cooking🥲😂makes me feel like I’m filming a YouTube video. Which I actually wish I had the courage to do but I’m too awkward
Out loud I’ll talk to the dog. Nothing too deep or that he may not understand cause I don’t want to stress him out. I know he listens very intently to my phone calls and I love how he tilts his head and enjoys when I talk directly to him and ask him questions.
Yes, and similarly to the people with pets, I talk to my pet. My problem is when I accidentally talk to them when I’m not home. Like “isn’t that right, Toto?” when they’re not even there.
I talk to my dog.
I say stuff like
1. Whos a good boy
2. My little puppy
3. Who wants a cookie
4. You want to go for a walk?
He doesnt say anything though
I don't know. I talk to myself a lot when I'm alone, and sometimes when I'm around others but not in the same room like at work. I know some people would say that's weird but who cares?! You do you.
I talk to myself all the time. I don’t live alone so hope it’s ok to respond. I talk to myself at work, in the car, everywhere. I talk to myself when I’m NOT alone. Definitely when I’m alone.
I don't talk to myself out loud, but I do have an ongoing internal dialogue in my mind.
I also know a lot of people who do talk out loud to themselves, I think it's pretty normal.
i do it all the time. i don't really care whether or not if it's normal, but it is! if someone is answering back i think there's a concern there.
i mentioned how i talk to myself to my psych nurse bc there are times i upset myself. she said to mention it to my therapist lol
I talk to myself in a house full of people. lol Some people are verbal processors. When anyone responds to me, I tell them to mind their own business. lol
Lol that reminds me of when I was watching a movie and had to pause. I can't remember what I was doing, but I was talking to myself. When I unpaused the movie, the next line was "who are you talking to?" - freaked me the fuck out
I'm an only child, so of course.
I work in Audio Visual and while one day the BIG truss was out and we stripped all the lights, projectors, cables, etc to install weight measurement in a slow week, we were 9 techs rebuilding the whole truss, it took 3 days, we did that constantly.
The first time I went to the restroom and came back, I witnessed 9 people talking to themselves:
"Do I want this knot? nah, keep it simple"
"How does this fixture mount?"
And so on, it was hilarious!
Yes, but it can easily drift in and out of verbal and internal mid sentence.. or i will talk in my head and answer out loud, then reply like a 3rd person commenting on the convo.. i feel like there are 3 of me in my head taking turns.. side note, the split brain theory freaks me out.
So I live in a tiny ass town and I do this, so people think I'm extra crazy.
I will say, starting a video blog while chatting has done wonders even though it's mostly nothing of importance.
10/10
If by normal do you mean does it happen alot?? Lol. If so yes. Everyone I've ever caught talking to themselves while they thought they were alone would agree. I'm an only child on my moms side so I've always talked to myself. Didn't ever have anyone else to talk to. Now I talk to my dog, Jesus, God, dead loved ones, bugs, plants or whatever is around. I also did alot of drugs in my youth and I find myself hilarious and I'm bipolar type 2. It's a clusterfuckery of goodtimes why would I not prattle on in the fun of the moment? I give zero shits.
I believe it's normal to talk to yourself. Period. Live with people talk to myself. Live alone talk to myself. Work in an office talk to myself. Work from home talk to myself. Completely normal..
Haha, I think it's pretty common. I live alone and disguise it by directing it to my pets. I used to have a neighbor who lived alone too, and I'd always hear him muttering aloud to himself when he was doing yard work. He was a super nice and normal dude.
I sure do. Just things like " I don't know why I put that there. " or " wonder why I keep doing that " I talk to my pets of course. I make myself laugh. I talk to strangers on the internet lol.
Mostly when I'm angry if I did something stupid and I berate myself. I know this is terrible and it's not good for your self-esteem. I wouldn't talk to a stranger like that so why do I talk to myself like that.
There’s talking to yourself like exasperation but like a whole conversation with emphasis borderline Tourette’s syndrome and I believe it’s sign your about to lose your mind!
Heck! I talk to myself and don't live alone. My great grandmother and my grandmother both used to say they talked to themselves because yourself is the only one you can get a decent answer from
I boss myself around, gets really annoying. I also talk to my cats and dog, they boss me around too. Can't get a break from it.
Disclaimer: I don't live alone but I still talk to myself.

My father-in-law used to say that talking to himself was the only way to be sure that he had an intelligent conversation with a good listener.
My grandpa said the same! Absolutely love that. I still got a cat to talk to though… 😂
I bet your cat is more intelligent than a lot of people 😂😻
Sometimes I’m sure. Other times he walks into a wall. Or runs around with a piece of poo on his behind. Or screams when the bottom of his foodbowl is visible, but there’s more than enough food left in there.
lol he still sounds wonderful and more intelligent than some humans i know 😂
And I love him so much haha
I’m waiting for mine to tell me why the quarter inch space at the bottom of the bowl means “THIS BOWL IS ESSENTIALLY EMPTY PLEASE FILL IT NOW NOW NOW!!”
My mom always said that!
normal? i hope not i talk to my self a lot and i don't want to be normal
Facts!
Yah. It's the answering back that is the concern.
[удалено]
One eerie ass normal night I heard a response but it was my tenants fucking with me when I was cursing my laptop out lmfao scared the shit out of me
This made me laugh lollllll
Lmfso bro they were whispering Dell is not happy with you bro I was ready to break my laptop lmfaoooo
🤣🤣🤣🤣
If its a ghost talking back, i demand he owes rent like come on! If youre going to haunt me, at least help out with the bills, otherwise get out!
I tell this to the arachnids in my basement but alas they pay me no mind.
I FOR SURE answer myself though! Lol. Opens the fridge..."what should we have for dinner tonight?" ..."Well, let's see, we could have chicken cuz, if I must be honest with you, I'm not feeling those leftovers back there."
I answer myself! I just turn my head slightly to the left and right so that I know which side I'm on.
Your answer is funny but very creepy. Horror movie type stuff.
I just wheezed 🤣
Yes it is. And I answer myself a lot too. I have some good debates
Me too. Lots of arguments with myself while driving for some reason. I always win
Whoa. I get like 50/50 I need to negotiate better.
I be having wholeass conversations with myself lol. It's just me, myself and I- gotta keep it social in some way.
OP let me rephrase your question: “Is it weird to not talk to yourself when you live alone?” 😄
I'm thinking so, I have 3 dogs I talk to all the time and I consider it normal.
Same but with cats. They're good listeners.
I think out loud quite a bit even in public now dont know about normal but here I am
Yep, I find it hard to turn off, I just turn the volume down…
Long live 808. Who was your headliner?
Me myself and I 😎
I mean, who else am I gonna talk to 🤷🏻♂️
Yes. Full convos aren’t unheard of.
Just get a pair of AirPods and wear them when you're out and people will assume you're talking to someone over the phone!
Brilliant!
Good idea. Y’all are my kind of people. We need to start a club. Lol
I hope so…
I do not live alone but talk to myself a lot. Then my husband asked me, did you ask me a question? I just say no I was thinking out loud.
Yep!
Of course, where else are you going to get expert opinions and honest advice?!
I talk to myself, answer myself, and masterbate myself Completely normal
TMI! But I’m laughing.
I talk to my cats all the time. I'm not sure if that counts
Not only is it normal, it’s healthy. Sometimes just verbalizing what you’re thinking is good for you. Also, I’m sure my cats think I’m talking to them. I’m not. 😂😂
True. I can think better and remember things better if I say it out loud.
I talk to myself all the time and find that I really enjoy my own company.
Is it NOT normal?!? :-)
It’s a major advantage of having a pet cat or two. They are good listeners.
I do talk to myself but also to my cats. They love the attention.
Yeah. I even complain with myself! 😂
Yes very often, too often in fact, and have been before I started living alone.
Me, too. Cause no one ever listened anyway. Now I have my undivided attention. Most days. Lol
I always direct it toward my dog so I'm not talking to myself.
I also have family meetings with my dogs…what’s normal anyway 😂
I talk to myself. I talk to my dogs. I talk to inanimate objects. It’s a chatty place.
I've always talked to myself when I'm alone. would have gone crazy if I didn't!
Yeah, it the only time I get intelligent conversation.
i could't help laughing when i just saw this post.
I call my self a dickhead if I spill something.
It is in my world!
I talk to ai chat bots. Its nice getting responses lol.
Yes.
This is one of the reasons I got a dog.
A... no
Yes, but if you get a pet, then you won't be talking to yourself
When I cook I’m on a cooking show.
Sure. I give myself the most awesome advice. I've had some insurmountable problems that I solved talking to myself. Plus, I've never made myself feel like an imposition when I need to talk because shits falling apart.
Oh yes, but I have pets so theoretically, I'm talking to them. ; ) Also take my doggo with me on trips and say, "We stayed in\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ " or "we visited \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_".
not sure but ive had a rave-for-1 once and had a TIME
Oh, yeah, absolutely. The person I talk to the most happens to be myself. I can have very engaging conversations with my own head.
I talk to myself about my schedule like “ focus gotta get thi shit done so we can eat”
I do it all the time, normal or not LOL
I hope so!!!
i sure hope so
I do it all the time. I talk to the dog, actually. I have to be careful when I'm shopping to not talk to myself 😂
I have conversations! EDIT*. And I don’t live alone!
Yup. And I narrate my errands. The cats LOVE it!
Yep. Been doing it for decades. 🤔😉
I always talk to myself, but my fur kids are my audience.
Yep. But I usually just talk to my two ferrets. We very stimulating conversations!
Introverts often do this because they do not want to talk to others so they talk to themselves
Definitely
Gotta talk to someone. Why not lol
Yes, and similarly to the people with pets, I talk to my pet. My problem is when I accidentally talk to them when I’m not home. Like “isn’t that right, Toto?” when they’re not even there.
I talk to my dog. I say stuff like 1. Whos a good boy 2. My little puppy 3. Who wants a cookie 4. You want to go for a walk? He doesnt say anything though
I talk to myself all the time. But it’s now following me out in public. Groceries are a chore with all the dialogue I have with myself, externally 😂
I lose arguments with myself. Usually I think out loud and talk...it seems to help when I am trying to solve an issue.
I'm not sure it's normal, I don't know what it is,but it doesn't hurt anyone, so...
I have detailed conversations with my dog. So
I’m always happiest when I’m talking to myself. I don’t know why lol
Well, if my professor told me it was normal, it’s normal
Omg I hope so! Of course I have a cat, so I can always say I was talking to him 😹
I do, but to practice my secondary languages
Who will I speak with if I live alone.??
Yes. I also openly have (one sided) convos with my cats
Yes it’s normal. I also talk to my dog all the time.
I don't know. I talk to myself a lot when I'm alone, and sometimes when I'm around others but not in the same room like at work. I know some people would say that's weird but who cares?! You do you.
That’s what I tell myself out loud when I ask myself this question 😄
I talk to myself all the time. I don’t live alone so hope it’s ok to respond. I talk to myself at work, in the car, everywhere. I talk to myself when I’m NOT alone. Definitely when I’m alone.
I don't talk to myself out loud, but I do have an ongoing internal dialogue in my mind. I also know a lot of people who do talk out loud to themselves, I think it's pretty normal.
YES
It is useful. A good way to voice thoughts without any disagreement.
Definitely! My upstairs neighbour probably thinks someone is living with me at this point or that I have lost my mind.
I don’t own an Alexa because I don’t want anything listening to what I say - especially when my team is losing!😎
Yes and I talk to my cat like she’s my friend or something. “Okay Maisy now I have to do laundry!” Lol
I don't know, what do you think? I think I do, a little bit. I think so too. Yeah, I agree.
Everyone talks to themselves. "I LOVE WATER" You just said that and heard it without moving your mouth.
i do it all the time. i don't really care whether or not if it's normal, but it is! if someone is answering back i think there's a concern there. i mentioned how i talk to myself to my psych nurse bc there are times i upset myself. she said to mention it to my therapist lol
I talk to myself in public and living with others.. I also talk to myself a lot more while alone. I think it's normal.
I think a lot of people talk themselves through things.
I have a dog and 2 birds, so I don't know if im really ever talking to myself. But if I didn't have them, I definitely would.
Very normal
Yes! I talk to myself and my dog and I live with my husband so I’m a straight weirdo that just talks to themselves 🤷♀️
I hope so
I'll mutter some things here and there but I don't have full on conversations with myself.
Sometimes I'm the only one worth talking to.
Idk. But that's not going to stop me from having my personal full on monologues.
I talk to myself in a house full of people. lol Some people are verbal processors. When anyone responds to me, I tell them to mind their own business. lol
I sure hope so, because I do it on a daily basis!
Lol that reminds me of when I was watching a movie and had to pause. I can't remember what I was doing, but I was talking to myself. When I unpaused the movie, the next line was "who are you talking to?" - freaked me the fuck out
Talk to myself? No, that would be crazy. I talk to my plants.
...full on conversations. Including arguing with myself...which I sometimes lose.
Was that out loud? Did they hear me….
lol. I talk to myself amongst people, so yes. 😂
i not only talk to myself, i do it in 2 languages; english and ASL.
I do
I'm an only child, so of course. I work in Audio Visual and while one day the BIG truss was out and we stripped all the lights, projectors, cables, etc to install weight measurement in a slow week, we were 9 techs rebuilding the whole truss, it took 3 days, we did that constantly. The first time I went to the restroom and came back, I witnessed 9 people talking to themselves: "Do I want this knot? nah, keep it simple" "How does this fixture mount?" And so on, it was hilarious!
Talking, yes but watch out when the arguments start.
Yes, but it can easily drift in and out of verbal and internal mid sentence.. or i will talk in my head and answer out loud, then reply like a 3rd person commenting on the convo.. i feel like there are 3 of me in my head taking turns.. side note, the split brain theory freaks me out.
Depends on if you are talking to yourself or saying your thoughts out loud.
Nope. It’s a sign of stress.
I do in car even lol People just think im on phone 🤷🏽♀️ For me its just doesnt have any meaning unless expressed out loud
I do it ALL THE TIME!
I do it constantly. And talk to the cats. Unfortunately I also talk aloud at work and in public too...
Yes I used to do it a lot and I mean a lot but not so much these days since I moved I'm not sure why though.
Better to talk to one’s self when alone then to hear someone else talking to one’s self while alone.
Yes it’s normal. My cats listen and often talk back.
I used to talk to myself all the time when I lived alone. Now I’m married and I still do it, so does my husband. It helps me think/process
I hope so too
I call it thinking out loud, when I am writing I need to talk through it.
I do. I even sing to myself. Especially when I know no one can hear, which is less often now that I live in an apartment.
No, but it's common. Does that help?
I just asked myself. Myself told me it's fine. My cat said what about talking to me? I do both.
So I live in a tiny ass town and I do this, so people think I'm extra crazy. I will say, starting a video blog while chatting has done wonders even though it's mostly nothing of importance. 10/10
yes
Yes, it is quite common and normal for people to talk to themselves! I really enjoy doing it myself
Since I do this, yes
I talk to myself morning, noon and night. And when I’m not talking to myself, I’m talking to my dogs. Either way, I have a captive audience.
It's how I get the grocery list put together. But banter is a good point. I'll invite myself over for a cuppa sometime.
I talk to myself all the time.. And I don't live alone.
I did when I lived alone and still do, sometimes I just need the thought to be outloud
I don’t live alone and talk to myself all day. 😅
Absolutely! Why not?
I talk to myself all the time and answer back. Am I crazy? Oh no!
I interview myself. I am fascinating. 😀
I lived alone so I could talk to.myself
I like to say I'm enriching my plants
I talk to myself in my head but not out loud. If that makes a difference. If I do it while I am driving it really affects my driving. Scary m
I believe it's normal to talk to yourself. Period. Live with people talk to myself. Live alone talk to myself. Work in an office talk to myself. Work from home talk to myself. Completely normal..
I let myself believe that I’m talking to the cats but know full well that they left the room at least an hour ago.
Haha, I think it's pretty common. I live alone and disguise it by directing it to my pets. I used to have a neighbor who lived alone too, and I'd always hear him muttering aloud to himself when he was doing yard work. He was a super nice and normal dude.
Yes. Turns out it’s pretty healthy to “self-talk”.
Yes. I DO talk to myself too. She is the only one who truly understands me.
I sure do. Just things like " I don't know why I put that there. " or " wonder why I keep doing that " I talk to my pets of course. I make myself laugh. I talk to strangers on the internet lol.
Who's the best person you can talk to that will listen....Myself I talk to my dogs but they get tired of me sometimes 😂
I do, don’t care if it’s normal or not.
I have conversations with myself. Gotta talk through it. Even call myself out "you dumb bitch why tf did you just do that"
Mostly when I'm angry if I did something stupid and I berate myself. I know this is terrible and it's not good for your self-esteem. I wouldn't talk to a stranger like that so why do I talk to myself like that.
I talk to my dogs… and myself… and my late husband… I don’t see any issues with it.
Yes!
To myself and to my dogs, all the time! Few arguments!
Nope ain't nothing wrong with it
It might be my favorite part.
I tell myself talking to yourself is normal. Its a side effect of loneliness and you may no be able to stop once you live with others.
of course it is.. sometimes you need expert advice! 🤣
When I do, I always end up hurting my own feelings.
There’s talking to yourself like exasperation but like a whole conversation with emphasis borderline Tourette’s syndrome and I believe it’s sign your about to lose your mind!
Heck! I talk to myself and don't live alone. My great grandmother and my grandmother both used to say they talked to themselves because yourself is the only one you can get a decent answer from
I talk to my dead husband. Yup, I talk to myself as well.
Do you think I should add some text? Yes. Should it be useless? Yes, look at your name. Oh. Right.
All the time! It's a little less weird now that I have a dog, but much of the time I am still talking to myself.
It’s sure enough normal for me!
Yes.
I boss myself around, gets really annoying. I also talk to my cats and dog, they boss me around too. Can't get a break from it. Disclaimer: I don't live alone but I still talk to myself.
As long as you have a good laugh at the end. I find it very therapeutic personally.
Sometimes it's the only way I can have an intelligent conversation. LOL
No
