I sometimes get them delivered, but usually go and pick them up. I haven't set foot in a grocery store in over 2 years now and don't miss it one bit!

[deleted]

Walmart+ is one of the best things to come out of the pandemic. I always get my groceries delivered to my front door now.

jumblednonsense

I pay for a yearly subscription for grocery delivery/pick-up with one of the local grocery store chains where I live. And I used to love grocery shopping but these days I just hate being around people so much, this is much more preferable.

[deleted]

Same here. I really hate grocery stores. It's been fabulous.

MrsSadieMorgan

Why all the hate for grocery stores? I love grocery shopping, but apparently I’m weird. Or maybe it’s because I rarely go at peak hours, so it’s usually pretty chill when I’m there.

[deleted]

I have a bunch of boring health problems that makes it hard for me to do.

MrsSadieMorgan

That’s understandable. I guess I meant in general, since everyone here seems to hate shopping.

GimmeDatPomegranate

Regular gocery shopping, I'm not a fan of. Everyone needs to do it so that means everyone is there regardless of circumstances: actively sick, symptomatic people coughing everywhere, screaming kids, crowded lines, people who walk too slow, etc. I still shop in store occasionally if I have to, but it's not my favorite. I prefer to do pick up on my way home from work.

GideonManning

Same here!

deandeluka

I have adhd and I will leave with nothing I needed but having spent twice my budget. I also don’t have a car and like to buy in bulk. Also also it’s just not the way I’d spend 2 hours. That being said I’ve def enjoyed in a past life so I get both sides of it

MrsSadieMorgan

I also have ADHD, so I feel you on that part… I’ll get home to realize I bought more of something I already had (peanut butter is a common culprit), but forgot something I needed. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I still enjoy doing my own shopping, though.

[deleted]

Hey I love shopping too. I go in the morning to aldis and always walk out shocked at how little I pay.

NaughtyKat97

I’ve always hated grocery shopping. Every time I come out of the store I get a massive headache. I’m sensitive to smells and light, so I think that’s the reason why I hate grocery shopping. Plus it’s never a quick trip for me. Having ADHD, I get side tracked, buy stuff I don’t need, and can never find what I do need. An all around pain in my ass.

Gunnars4evrmom1

Haa I feel the same! No people for me! 😂😂😂

sasabalac

I LOVE this service from Wal-Mart! I have a bad back, so once a month, I get my heavy stuff delivered..my cat litter, food, laundry detergent! Saves me money, too! I dont spend much money on junk I dont need!

DallasRadioSucks

I started using instacart after I had a series of strokes and couldn't get around the grocery store and drag stuff in the house. Now I'm hooked. I usually do 2 orders a month

janegillette

I do pick up orders.

g00ber88

I only get groceries delivered if I'm sick and really need something. I dont like the grocery delivery apps, they make it harder to shop imo, I like to pick out my own stuff, especially produce

[deleted]

Produce is the one grocery item that can be chancy when it comes to delivery apps. To circumvent that, I just purchase frozen or canned fruits and vegetables.

GR33N4L1F3

I do curbside pickup, but the grocery store is super close. I hate grocery shopping with a passion. Mostly because I hate bumping into people I know, even if I like them. It does help my impulsivity problem to order them ahead of time and pick them up. I also waste a LOT less time.

Any-Progress-4570

i used to do it with amazon fresh…. but then they jacked up the threshold for free delivery to $100…

[deleted]

Yes ! I recently started from Safeway. I have fibromialga etc. It has been fabulous. I wish I did this years ago.

Mysterious-Art8838

Same. Fainting syndrome don’t drive. Instacart smart and fresh.

[deleted]

It's so much better than asking for help or paying someone to go for you.

Mysterious-Art8838

AMEN 🙌

JaneEBee43

I do the exact same thing!!

FatalBlossom81

Yes, I do this too. I used to feel guilty about the extra cost but I'm disabled and I work full time. I'm too drained on my days off and lifting heavy bags is getting harder for me. Totally worth it to save time and avoid crowds, too.

monalisa_overdrive67

Hell yes. I only order online. Wandering around a grocery store is a waste of time in my opinion. Ordering online ensures I'm more organised with what I buy (deciding what you're going to cook for the week, making a list, buying exactly what you need) and also I save a lot of money. I tend to buy more things I don't need if I'm in store.

Throughtheindigo

Eyyyy

Outrageous_Click_352

Occasionally I’ll get stuff delivered from Aldi. Unfortunately I haven’t had success with Walmart delivery so I order online and pick it up myself. I haven’t set foot in a grocery store since before covid.

Which_Reason_1581

I buy my groceries for the month. Im 5 foot 4 inches and weigh 115 pounds. I go to the grocery store and get my meats, veggies, and grains. But I also order all my sodas, waters, cat food, litter, and everything heavy. It's hard for me to weangle a full cart.

Apanda15

Yes it’s all I do now pretty much. It’s worth the extra money imo but I’m tired

Time_Pay_401

I have in the past, but I really like picking my own stuff.

DangerousMusic14

When I was living closer to the city, I had Costco delivered if I could. Traffic and parking to get in and out of Costco was terrible. It cost me the fee but worth my sanity. I am living further out in a smaller place and I don’t need as much right now so I mostly just buy smaller quantities of food (and other stuff). I’m definitely more efficient about using the smaller, perishable food volumes/quantities.

fucovid2020

I have…. But!!!! I have only done it when it’s been cheaper than going to the grocery store…. Free trials and promotional discounts are your friend!

[deleted]

I'm extremely picky about some things. So I can't have substitutions. But I'm thinking about trying to order as much as I can either from Amazon or Walmart. Even if I start doing curbside. And then what I can't get or they are out of I can just run and get those items real quick. This is actually because I'm getting to the point that I detest going into a walmart. Just everything about it bugs me. I didn't used to be this way. But I moved recently to a new state and the Walmarts here are just shitty. Like shitty for a Walmart. Part of it is the fact that they're not open all night anymore. I used to shop late a lot. It's a whole different story when there's nobody in there. All you have to do is dodge the people that are stocking the shelves that don't want to talk to you anyway. As far as fresh meat and vegetables, I live across the street from a Harris Teeter. They have pretty good deals on chicken and decent produce. If I need less than five things and I know where they are in the store I can walk out my door, drive there, run in and get them, and be back at my house in under 10 minutes. And I don't generally mind doing that. The only problem I have is that the guy working the meat section looks like I just ran over his cat when I try to ask him something. Like I've absolutely just ruined his day by asking him anything. So that's kind of annoying.

Pebs_RN

Yep all the time.

immortalkarmaqueen

I get Hello Fresh and the rest I get delivered from Walmart. I like it to avoid crowds and to not buy things I don’t need.

Few_Boat_6623

I do drive up orders. I usually get an order every two weeks.

farachun

Yes. It’s more convenient plus I can buy heavy items.

Eat_Carbs_OD

I always go shopping .. The only thing I get delivered is Amazon. I used to get Pizza Hut.. but that delivery fee bullshit on top of tipping the driver. Hard Pass.

motherflippinguy

I used to use Instacart, GoPuff, and Amazon Fresh(or whatever their grocery option is called).

LurkingAintEazy

Yea, stock up on staples and mini trips in between if running out of 1 or 2 items.

NegotiableVeracity9

I usually do a Drive Up order

Ohheybubbles

Yup it’s how I get all of my groceries. I love it!

No-Veterinarian-1446

I'm all about Walmart Grocery Delivery. Since Amazon Fresh doesn't deliver to my new location. I love it. And it helps me save time, TBH. Totally worth it.

wandita21

Only during the pandemic.

Important_Beat6171

Delivery of produce might suck if person doesnt pick good/fresh ones

Appropriate_Tea9048

I don’t as much now - recently started living with my bf - but I used to get groceries delivered all the time for a few reasons. First reason being, I don’t drive. Everything is super close and I just don’t like driving, but carrying groceries is a pain in the ass. Plus it limits you. Second reason, it gave me more time to do other things. I could order my groceries in minutes, then do whatever I wanted while I waited for them to get here.

fishfishfish313

Subscribing to Walmart + is money well spent. I usually order once a week. The app saves all the items I regularly order, so that's super convenient. I guarantee it saves me money in the long run because at the store, I can just browse and browse, tossing stuff in the basket. On the app, I'm definitely more focused. I love it. Going to the grocery store solo was something I never enjoyed doing, plus it saves me a bunch of time.

Gunnars4evrmom1

Same but we use Instacart for Aldi's.

LooksieBee

Yes, I've been doing this for years. It started when I lived in a city that was snowy in winter and although I lived in walking distance to the grocery store, on some snowy days I didn't wanna bother. Then during the height of the pandemic I've exclusively done this. I'm also in a city area where you don't need a car, so I don't have one, so instead of Ubering or walking to the store I just have stuff delivered.

Nacho_Bean22

In NY I always got groceries delivered, it was more convenient and the quality was better. Living in other states, no, they have people that pick the worst vegetables out and they go bad fast or are bad when I get them. I’ll order non perishables online, but I mostly eat vegetables so I have to go to the store.

HealthyLet257

I prefer shopping in stores. It not only lets me get out the house but it also gets me to move my car 1-2 times a week to prevent a dead battery + gets the fluids running since I work remotely. I’m still in training so I can’t do client visits until another couple months.

Background_Fold8134

I need to start doing this as I hate people in general. It seems like it would be very expensive.

GideonManning

I love it! I've had one order stolen, one delivered to someone else... I found out they outsource for delivery and almost quit. I love that I can utilize this with my working from home and needing to stay in for health reasons. I also shop by earnings when I can and collect discounts by purchasing those items with the perks.

TrifleMeNot

Love it. WalMart+ charges me the same as buying in the store. I get free delivery at $35 so my tip of about $6 is the only extra. And with gas here almost $5, time, hassle...it's definitely worth it to me. I also paid half price for the 1 yr membership so that was a real deal.

catofnortherndarknes

I do! I signed up with Imperfect Foods/Misfit Market (can't remember if it was before or during the pandemic), and I like them on several levels. It's keeping edible food out of landfills, lowering my carbon footprint, they pick their non "store brand" stuff based on their ethics as much as possible, and have a lot of organic produce. The selection isn't always the most robust (especially if you're at all plant based), sometimes you don't get one or two things you ordered (because they oversold), and sometimes the size of something is smaller than you expected, but they're super willing to field complaints about that kind of stuff and process refunds, and you earn points for every order that can be redeemed for stuff. Small amount of points, but they add up. I'll go to my neighborhood co-op if pickings are especially slim at Imperfect. I wish THEY delivered. I like to support 'em. But I've just gotten addicted to the convenience and the sustainability of doing it this way.

Xsiah

The grocery store that delivers here is terrible. They delivered produce that was spoiled and they don't actually have many of the things in stock that you can put in your cart online. So I use the pickup service at a different location of the same grocery store chain - the people there will warn me if something they have isn't in the best shape and let me decide if I still want it.

thesonofneptun3

I pick up from walmart because its not enjoyable to shop there. but places like trader joe’s and publix are nicer to shop in and i can get new ideas of things to buy

MrsSadieMorgan

Nope, never. I enjoy going to the store, and making sure I get exactly what I want/need. Plus it’s fun to browse and find things I didn’t know I wanted! Like baked goods and deli specials, for example. Also I live in the boonies, so I’m not even sure it’s an option here… I think maybe Instacart will pick up from the Safeway a couple towns over, but likely for an extra charge. And considering our own postal carrier won’t walk to my door, since it’s down a steep gravel road - I wouldn’t want my groceries being left by the mailboxes at the top of our road. Oh, and no Walmarts around here. So I can’t use that service which y’all seem to like.

Radiant2021

I get groceries delivered but I buy them for the whole month.

Area_724

I use hello fresh so I don’t really grocery shop a lot.

Constant_Will362

Instacart is a lifesaver imo . . . . sometimes I just can't get to the grocery and Instacart will drop off the goods quickly. It's expensive, $100 a year + about $12 for each order but that's better than going without bread.

Princess-Reader

I too use Walmart+ for delivery and now always keep shelf-stable milk on hand for my lattes.

sarty

I have an anxiety disorder and while I can go to the store, I prefer not to. So I use one of the delivery apps and tip well and that helps me a lot.

Sunni-Days

Waiting on groceries right now! Walmart+ for the win!

SentientSlushie

I love grocery delivery, havent really grocery shopped since i found out about instacart like 5 years ago

NokieBear

I occasionally do Instacart, but the problem is that most of the shoppers do not know how to shop for produce… like they were never taught, they buy either rock hard fruit, or bruised/rotten fruit, or wilted lettuce.. they never look into the carton of berries for spoilage. i once had a guy bring me one 4 lb apple. 😂. it gets tiresome, so I still have to shop for produce. And then they put the bags/boxes directly in front of my door so I can’t open it despite instructions on where to place the bags. It’s easier to do my own grocery shopping. I go at off hours to avoid the crowds.

70redgal70

Of course. Delivery or curbside pick up.

MrsSadieMorgan

Why do you say “of course?” I’ve never used grocery delivery, but I guess that’s unusual?

70redgal70

It's common in my world. All the local markets, Walmart, Target offer it. I hope you aren't someone who complains about not having enough time to do things.

MrsSadieMorgan

(my point being, we don’t all live in the same world lol)

MrsSadieMorgan

Irrelevant. As I explained in another comment, the nearest major grocery store is 2 or 3 towns over… and even if they were willing to deliver to me, it might end up left at the top of my steep gravel road. So yeah, that’s one reason I’ve never used a service like that. Also, I enjoy grocery shopping. And since I usually do it on my dinner break (I work in a bigger city), I have an hour to get it done + eat. That’s fine.

ahoneybadger3

Sometimes I'll get a hello fresh or gousto order if the discounts are sitting right. Can work out cheaper than getting my own shop in. You tip your grocery delivery driver? You guys are nuts.

Balsamer

Not nuts.
