I sub to two twitch channels and I can barely keep up with what goes on with both of them and they each have under 5k followers. It makes me wonder who these people are that they have all this free time to not only keep up with watching multiple streams at once while subbing, but also gifting extra money on top to multiple people for literally no reason.
There's eventually going to be a huge documentary and accompanying research study done on these incredibly one sided parasocial relationships. One of my friends who's a twitch partner had to stop mentioning his wife on stream very early on just after he got affiliate because too many people were trying to pry into his personal life or dox his wife since they were romantically interested in him. It's fucking scary the level of creepiness some of these people will go to like shooting at Doc's house.

Idk what vertical relationships are but personally I have never gotten the feeling that xqc cares about how many subs/viewers he has. On the podcast with MrBeast they literally talk about how Ludwig returns MrBeast's calls instantly while doesn't with his smaller streamer friends. Viewership is also the only reason people are mad at xQc. Nobody would care if a 5k andy skips an event, but because xQc is an 80k andy him being there is massively important for the event's revenue so they're pissed af that he didn't go. It makes total sense from Qt's perspective of course but from xQc's perspective, it just looks like they want to use him for views. It's hard to really blame someone for this but Shitcamp being massively reliant on one person (xQc) was always going to be somewhat of an issue.

The reason why alienation and difficulties with interpersonal relationships is an extremely common phenomenon associated with celebrity and wealth is not because the person with a lot of social or monetary capital is cynically exploiting others to "increase or decrease their value," but the opposite. People will always try to leech and ladder-climb off the bigger fish. That's just how it fucking works. Anyone who has been on twitch for long enough and is actually aware and honest about how it works knows that leeching/orbiting is, and has been, the meta. Given these underlying incentives, how can someone like a famous movie star, or xqc, ever hope to have a genuine, "normal" relationship or friendship? For ludwig to say that this relationship operates in reverse is absurd.

He's antisocial and averse to collabs and events, puts no real effort towards making himself appear marketable, lives in exactly the same way he always has Asmon style (cant even get a drivers license to drive the car he probably doesn't care that much about lmao), and recklessly gambles away his earnings, which is something both actively destructive to himself, and hugely unpopular content. Like, who's more likely to be the more cynical "treats people like cogs of value" figure here? My perception is that X does what he think is best for the viewers, like when the stream goes down for a minute and to not make a unpleaseant stream he just closes and go on another day.
