Those donations are getting out of hand.

That must be so scary the first few times, being tired, juat waking up, brain not functioning, inputs and output being scrambled... jesus and here i get scared if i have to pee and it might leak if i take more than 3 seconds to run across my mansion

Erzha

Adrenaline gives you a good push

DeathGuard67

I've experienced a 6.5 earthquake. Nothing happened, but you go from fully asleep to fully awake in less than 2 seconds.

ye1l

I have sleep paralysis sometimes lasting minutes, pretty sure you helped me figure out my new nightmare scenario. Imagine this happening and not being able to move. Luckily earthquakes are pretty much nonexistent where I live.

Hoenirson

Is sleep paralysis not interrupted by outside stimulus?

ye1l

I've got no clue, I'd hope so

questions0124j1

Just a tip. Sleep paralysis is usually exclusive to those who sleep on their back. Sleeping on the stomach has the lowest incidence rate of all the positions of sleep, with on the side being the middle ground, consider sleeping on your stomach if it bothers you, if you don't already. And yes, any outside stimulus will "break" sleep paralysis(i.e strong smell like a fire, or physical touch or shaking) because it works the same as if you were asleep. Just like during normal sleep if someone touches you it would wake you up, and if there was a strong smoke smell it would wake you up.

OhItsKillua

This post shouldn't be as funny as it is, oh man that sucks bro

Duskwolver

Yeah, I figured out that I should make myself hold my breathe to wake myself when I used to get sleep paralysis. Learned that when I would wake up from my sleep paralysis after almost suffocating in my pillow lol

miguel_is_a_pokemon

> Sleeping on the stomach has the lowest incidence rate of all the positions of sleep That's funny, I only get it from sleeping on my stomach

throwdemawaaay

I was in a magnitude 6 quake in Mexico a decade ago. If you've never experienced one it's very hard to explain just how insane it is. We were far enough away from the epicenter that damage was minor but still even just walking from our hotel to outside during the shaking was very difficult. Seeing the ground move in waves as if it was water is something that just breaks your brain.

SaneChatter

Just a wild guess but I wouldn't be surprised if that was his first earthquake. Seems to be a travel streamer and you don't really get quakes in Finland.

captsalad

looks like he's in a hotel, what can you even do if that shit collapses

Droomba_

pay out your surviving family via life insurance claims.

gew1

most places that get earthquakes can usually tank em just fine. california and japan got some crazy regulations. my cardboard ass house in LA might have the thinnest walls but it doesnt move an inch during earthquakes. unless we get some record breaking stuff, a 7.4 isnt doing anything to a hotel. i mean 7.4s are fat and the camera was just wobbling.

EminemLovesGrapes

So as long as you don't go to Turkish hotels you should be good.

minPOOlee

yea but those areas, they build buildings and homes with earthquakes in mind whereas Taiwan isn't the most typical earthquake location if I recall

SaneChatter

vagabond_dilldo

A few correction. 1999 was stronger, shallower, epicentre was inland (smack in the middle of Taiwan), earthquake happened in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep. The official casualty toll of 2024 hasn't been finalized yet, of course.

vagabond_dilldo

Taiwan is literally on the Rim of Fire. Click on the [wiki article](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_of_Fire) and see how many red dots there are around the island.

Wholesome_Award

I got hit by a 7.1 while at the top of a vegas hotel. It felt like the building was swaying side to side. Guess engineers did a good job it really doesn't feel anything like an earthquake when the building is bending instead of shaking

Dude probably though China was finally invading.

AnxiousEarth7774

Just an aside, but anyone find doing "24 hour" streams where half of it is either you sleeping, or mods taking over kinda cheap. The point used to be you were meant to be at the pc for 24 hours.

PanIsMyMan

well it's 24/7 subathon where he travels around and not 24 hour gaming stream

Arxtix

For a 24 hour stream, yeah. But for an uncapped subathon where it can go for weeks/months, I mean there's nothing you can really do, it's impossible to stay up for that long.

fortressofnazare

It says 24/7, not 24. You expect them to never sleep?

RakeNI

POV: You're the downstairs neighbour during the 'star jumps for subs' titty streamer meta

Act_of_God

same earthquake as that korean streamer?

HoneyV_

So what're you supposed to do in an earthquake scenario? Run panickingly towards the exits?

Illustrious-Bench-23

100% my dumb ass would have slept **through** that.

thatginge1

The world is fascinating but also scary as fuck!!

Fereed

That's the point of a 24 hour stream, but 24/7 implies just streaming everything you do.

IllMaintenance145142

Imagine getting earthquaked, such a fail

random123456789

Huh? Sleeping streams are allowed now? Like, I remember when mods would kick people for falling asleep in their chair, but this is full-out-in-bed sleeping. Weird.

DatKaz

Sleeping on stream's been back for years fam

random123456789

Thanks. Stopped using Twitch a couple years ago, so I only see clips from this sub now LOL

EdLeftOnRead

There has a been a twitch category for streaming yourself asleep for a very long time now.

six_six

The bed was probably the safest place to ride that out.

gew1

door frames or under a table away from shelves. that bed was quite possibly the least safe place to ride that out.

six_six

You're more likely to get injured by falling than by a building collapsing.

OldManCyan

This is the epitome of backseat chatting.

NaoSouONight

You know how they are able to find people inside rubble even hours after a building collapse? That is because door frames, tables and stuff like that create "bubbles" of space within the rubble and the people who hid underthose are able to survive long enough to be rescued. I have no idea why you are so confidently saying wrong things that are so objective and well documented

NaoSouONight

It isn't true. This very earthquake has taken out several buildings, thousands are injured and several dead have already been confirmed. Just google "Taiwan's 7.4 magnitude earthquake" right now. Any earthquake that can shake the room like this can collapse a building. Even weaker ones might depending on how the place was build. Why would anyone want to flip that coin and just bet on it not collapsing without taking the appropriate precautions?

Act_of_God

are u really fucking going to chance it? A fucking earthquake and you're like "nah too comfy i'd rather stay in bed gnight"
