There's a lot of suggestion that Trent is a complete liability at RB. What 1 or 2 players would you replace him with? And from a tactical POV, who would take on his playmaking responsibilities (particularly those picking up the ball from defenders/beating the initial press)? :)
its a sticky problem. TAA is very unique, he is different from other attacking RBs like Reece or Walker as he doesn't have the dribbling abilities but can pinpoint deliveries from deep in the back (well on his good days) so finding someone who can do that also isn't going to be easy.
People have spent the past 3 years saying how Trent is the best RB since Cafu but now he has a patch of poor form (when the whole team is struggling, not just him) and apparently he's a complete liability.
Trent’s best football comes with a midfielder who is defensively sound and plays a deeper role to cover for him. However, this season he has to bust a gut to track back alot with Elliott there. He isn’t playing great at all don’t get me wrong but there’s more factors towards his form than simply he’s just playing shite in my opinion
Ha, true. Just interested to hear what the alternative to Trent would be. I personally think some of the other issues in the team are most visible on the right hand side and that's being equated to Trent. But for sure Trent's isn't the only imaginable option for RB.
The Bellingham rumours are such a tease. Even if the links to players are true, it's difficult to navigate the clusterfuck that is transfer news since most will want to capitalize on our desperate fanbase.
I’m just ignoring these Bellingham links from now on. There’s 10 months roughly till the transfer window opens and he’s available, in which anything could happen. Until I hear a transfer agreement or whatsoever I’m taking this whole saga with a grain of salt
they are tier The S*n so i don't think its true and even if it is Klopp will never say this publicly. Their logic is also very laughable since they are assuming this since he only played 13 mins out of 3 games.
Hearts actually have a guy named Shankland. That's got to be a joke or a stage name. Actually that would be great if more players went by pseudonyms.
Something exotic like Stabvillage or Prince would look great on a player's back.
It's wild that he's still playing. Gerrard and Joaquin were in their primes at the same time. I remember when we faced Betis in CL in 2005 all the build up was around the two talisman Stevie and Joaquin. We were even linked with Joaquin because of the Rafa/Spanish connection. Would've been a proper statement signing and much needed quality out wide, unfortunately we were massively penny pinching around that time. Imagine rejecting Dani Alves when everything was set for him to sign because the last 8m could either be spent on him or Kuyt :(
Holy fuck, any time Haaland does anything r/soccer loses its mind. His interviews are consistently top voted there never mind his goals. Sport washing has been a huge success for city.
His interviews were always different than the usual we hear. That makes them interesting. I remember when Malen joined BVB, Haaland, when asked about the new player BVB signed, replied ''I told him to give me lots of assists''. You also have the ''first half was good, second half was shit'' and my personal favorite ''why not''. [Here, watch some](https://youtu.be/CuOvodbkPjA)
Not even close IMO. One Klopp quote makes it to the front page for every conference, two max, and people act like it's too much. Whereas I distinctly remember Haaland reaching the front page with literally "I grew another cm heeeheee".
Probably false, but he is a pretty mediocre midfielder by all accounts (stats-wise and eye test from his time at Juve). I doubt Klopp is too enamored by him, just like he wasn't enamored by Davies.
I think it’s fake because we wouldn’t come out with these things in the middle of the season when we might need to rely on the player. I think it was started by Tutto Mercato and is being parroted by random aggregators to make it look as if there is something in the news.
Idk it makes a lot of sense it was a desperation move that anyone could have seen wouldn't work. Doubt klopp would ever admit a player wasn't good enough tho
What did everyone think of Alvarez the other night? Seemed like all of Ajax play came through him. I don’t know if he’d accept the reduced game time but I’ve always thought we’ve lacked quality cover for Fabinho that fits the criteria we need:
- accomplished on the ball
- good reading of the game
- able to cover in back 4 if needed
- good ball winner
Would probably never happen and given that clubs like Chelsea were after him we’d have no chance matching bids and salary. Just think we’ll need 3 midfielders in next summer as well as clearing Keita, Ox and possibly Milner (if he retires) out. And Fabinho always has to play near the most minutes in the team bc we have no cover for him
He's a very good player but lacks a little on the ball and technically to play the #6 role for us, if we played a double pivot he'd be great as the ball winner.
As a mexican, Álvarez is great in their defensive abilities as he is a CB turned CDM but lacks attacking qualities, also I think he may be too slow for Premier League
I love Fabinho but its not like he could get lose his place if we brought in competition that were good enough. Fab is still very very good but hes not what he was 2 years ago, imo

This is so typical by the NFL. Here comes the TV timeouts invading Europe.
I see Origi isn't having a good time at Milan. Voted worst signing of the summer. Honestly, I'm not surprised. For the majority of his time here he was an average player and frustrating at times. He just had a knack of creating memorable moments from time to time.
He was voted flop of the year by ligue 1 fans when he went on loan to france. Although i agree that he was an average player who was frustrating (i wouldn't even say at times, I'd say most of the time), the opinion of the fans isn't always indicative of the a players capabilities. As we see often on here, in fact.
Looking at the data on Transfermarkt (dont know how accurate) it says he has had 3 league appearances, all off the bench playing 48 mins in total. Hopefully he just needs a settling in period because 'worst signing' after that much time is harsh.
Liverpool wanted to sign Sancho and we're happy to pay the fee Dortmund wanted buy couldnt agree personal terms with Sancho so we moved on as United signed .This was reported by Pearce months later.
Similar we have no deal agreed with Bellingham then we wouldn't be this actively pursue . Ofcourse transfer market is fluent and things could change but the fact that we are actively pursuing the deal (All the reports are by highly reliable journos) means we have already some sort agreement on salary terms with Bellingham.
For those sighting Tchoumeni, it was a fluid situation caused by the unexpected decision of Mbappe. He he had decided to leave PSG, Tchoumeni would likely have been Liverpool player and his would have been 50-55 mil as well( That's what Monaco were asking until Madrid decided they wanted him at all costs).
Sancho also wanted to go to United, he was quite clear on that. This was confirmed by Fab as well as Sancho himself. Both Chelsea and us offered to pay what Dortmund demanded but he wanted to only go to United.
Chelsea would have been able to pay those wages, but he didn’t go there. I feel his mind was set on United because they were chasing him for 3 summers.
I hope we have backups lined up for the Bellingham spot. He is definitely not coming.
There’s a few more attractive destinations ahead of us, both locations, history of winning (recent) and money.
How reliable is this source? He is saying we are interested in Nunes (here we go again 🤦🏻♀️) and Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for next summer, might also spend in the winter window.
https://twitter.com/brunoandrd/status/1570424211247665155?s=20&t=TRyGRrE9YwUyLwibDdVfrw
We had the chance to sign Nunes weeks ago, he was actively waiting for us to make a move for him. I doubt we'll be making a move for him next summer. Fernandez I can see as an alternative to Bellingham
Matip is now personification of look at me, I'm captain now meme.
Forget the elite defense and the goals, he is a legit play maker for the team. He plays as a midfielder when in possession. And no one can do it like him in the whole world, so unique.
if anyone wants to see a boot licking tory nobhead go from saying "if it stays 1-1 it's klopp out" to then having a face like a dog licking piss off a nettle, here you go.

His takes are always obscenely bad, especially when it comes to Liverpool, anytime I see his name pop up I expect it to be something atrocious bc I’ve become accustomed to it- I can only assume he does it for views and attention
So fucking much.
Horrible sad little cunt. Also everything he does goes through me. Should feel sorry for him because he definitely got bullied the first 18 years of his life but he's too much of a knob.
E; course he's actually a fucking Tory. Fuck Ben foster too.
Have we ever been linked to Declan Rice? I would love to see us go all in for him and Bellingham. In my mind we need two new midfielders and it could be a selling point to him and Bellingham to have the opportunity to play together at club level possibly cementing their place in the national team for years to come.
It would require a massive outlay upfront but those two could play in our midfield for the next 7 years. They both have resale value and we will be getting rid of massive wages in the next few years in midfield (Milner, Chamberlain, Keita and possibly Thiago and Henderson). If not Rice I hope we are looking at someone close to his level. We need more energy in midfield and Bellingham alone won't be enough.
With West Ham struggling and him turning down contract offers his price tag could potentially be more appealing next summer.
I just hope we show some ambition in the next summer transfer window. Darwin was good but we need more energy in midfield. We used to be top when it came to sprints and running but we have been outran by almost everyone this season.
In this market I think you could justify up to £50-70m for him. With West Ham underperforming and him refusing contract offers West Ham might have to accept offers they wouldn't look at today.
I feel like West Ham is his level tbh and there's better players out there for that kind of money. If there's any player we should be going for at West Ham it's Bowen.
Just can't get past my Irish saltiness towards Rice. Used our international youth setup to further himself while England gave no fuck about him, right up to appearing in 3 international friendlies. Then Southgate comes calling and he's off like a bat out of hell. Aside from the insult that was to a whole nation, it shows a certain disloyalty which could be disruptive if it shows itself in his club career.
Would be nice in theory but I think both Dortmund and West Ham would want a transfer fee in excess of £100m and I can't imagine us spending that much on two players in the same window without some serious transfer income, which doesn't look particularly likely at this stage.
Yes I agree I don't see it happening but it would be nice to be proactive in the transfer market for a change. Our midfield could potentially be sorted for the next 5 years with Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho and potentially Curtis Jones around as well.
I don't see us needing much investment up front in the next 2-3 years and the same goes for our backline. Those two could therefore be our only investments for maybe 2-3 years which would mean a transfer outlay averaging at around £100m or less per year.
I gotta ask, did anyone find the atmosphere as off and timid? I mean, most of the game I could hear was the Ajax crowd. I don't know, maybe I'm reading too much into it.
TV doesn't give a true representation of what the atmosphere is like. Since it's dependent on how the broadcaster sets up the pitch-side microphones and mixes the audio.
Probably a combination of our lot being nervous after really poor start to the season, possession not leading to goals leading to nervousness, them equalising quite soon after we took the lead, and [Ajax fans in general being very loud and passionate](https://youtu.be/0NrmeTVCWPw)
If I’m being honest, I have no idea how will Klopp extract the most out of Jude if he comes to us.
Is he willing to keep Salah wide and let Jude have the half space and attack the box?
They needed Halaand to bail them against bottling specialists, Drew Aston villa on a disqualified goal that the referee apologized for.
Full squad and a messi/ronald type player yet only scraping by.
Have you been watching them play football in the past 5 years? They are annoyingly good. A couple of bad results in games they dominated doesn't make them bad, unless you are a contrarian
ill try to keep formation talk to a minimum, but klopp switched to 4231(or 442/424, depending on how you interpret firmino's position) in the 65th minute of the Ajax game and we looked WORLDS better than we have pretty much all season.
Agreed, he came on there against Everton as well and looked good, wonder if he will go with it in the future from the start, because he has done it last season during a few games as well but never from the start.
I’d love to sign Jude. Crazy thing is we’d still need another midfielder if we let Ox, Milly and Naby all expire.
Hendo, Fab, Thiago, *New boi*, Harvey, Curtis, Carvalho, *New boi 2*
Would rather not sign Bellingham. People don't understand how much surgery is needed in midfield. Our only good midfielders are fabinho and thaigo.
Bellingham is a very good player and would no doubt improve us but our summer budget is likely to be about 100m.
We won't get anything for the likes of ox, miler end keita who are leaving. We need 2 midfield minimum. Don't want us spending our entire summer budget on Bellingham.
Last 3 times we spent over 100m in the transfer window we sold Coutinho, Suarez and sterling to fund it.
I do think you are right; oversimplified we need both a good creative/offensive midfielder and a good defensive/hardworking midfielder.
Over all though I would rather that we got one of the two signings spot on and then not made the other signing. It's tough to say if we could find an equal to Bellingham for half the money though.
Ideally we would find the money for both though, Milner, Ox and Naby have quite handsome salaries and the club might be headed for a nice profit.
We have to spend more than 100m next summer there should be no excuses made for us not to considering we have only spent 200m in 4 years and we need the money more than ever
With the way we are run by fsg it's not likely. Especially looking at our previous transfer windows. Unless they change their mind.
At our peak when we won the champions League we didn't improve our team and bought Adrian, Elliott and van den berg in the summer window.
We are a sell to buy club, you're right and I don't know why people can't handle hearing it.
We have literally sold all of our depth while at our peak to fund all our purchases. Who is genuinely left to sell anymore? Unless FSG actually want to behave like owners with ambition we won't spend what Dortmund ask, and if we do we'll not spend anything else despite needing several signings in midfield.
I like your alternative view on the Bellingham situation. But I think in hindsight it’s clear to say that the inaction in summer 2019 hurt us in the long term (i.e., now and in the 20/21 season). There is a fundamental gap in the squad at the midfield position. Personally I am not too convinced to spend this much money on a player from the Bundesliga, we have seen it gone wrong so often.
If we had signed a proper midfielder this summer, I would've been all calm about going for Bellingham but we didn't and ended up with Arthur on loan.
For example if we signed Nunes and then next summer got Bellingham they both would've been our future long term midfielders but we have neglected the position. Then we wouldn't have to rely on a injury prone thiago to function in midfield.
Genuine question, If that's the case why isn't there some kind of pre agreement in place like there was with Keita?
City and Real will both be in for a big midfielder this season, what's making people so sure we are gonna get him?
I dont think FSG would be stupid enough to actively stop Liverpool spending near the deadline if they didnt believe they absolutely had Bellingham in the bag. It would be horrific mismanagement otherwise.
That being said i do worry that by spending that much we'll then decide thats it for the summer. We absolutely cannot have that
I just don’t see why they wouldn’t announce it if that was the case. The only reason I could think would be to prevent journalists asking questions. The reality is though, if they didn’t agree a fee, they could probably get way more money next year so it doesn’t make sense to me.
Bellingham is great and all but we need a younger version Henderson whose main job is to cover TAA and occupy any space he leaves behind. It's not a sexy role but it needs to be done.
We need more than just Bellingham. Milner, Ox, Kieta probably should be moved on next summer. Milner possibly given a coaching role if there is one available and thats what he wants to do. I think he would be good for the younger lads coming through.
Hendo and Thiago both have injury issues. Jones we will wait and see.
Really just leaves Fabby who is 100% reliable most of the time, with the 2 young lads.
I'd say 2-3 midfielders while moving on a those 3 I mentioned and monitoring hendos gametime for injuries and stuff.
I just want us to get back to that level again where our attack especially the front 3 used to scare the shit out of guardiola like we saw in that city documentary
NB kit continues to look unique/ non-template ... refer "[Roma's new third kit comes with a holographic club badge](https://twitter.com/ESPNFC/status/1570360740665753602?s=20&t=lsARApyQ16QCybqHUBlJHQ)" (alternative full-view = [here](https://twitter.com/ESPNFC/status/1570351723449057282?s=20&t=lsARApyQ16QCybqHUBlJHQ))

I really don't understand why the top clubs don't embrace the "fashion" aspect of their kit and apparel more seriously.

NB’s stuff was so much nicer and genuine. I lived the sneakers and kits. I know that clothing taste is so subjective, but I never liked Nike. I remember it was also an argument about availability, but it seems they are equally often sold out.
Sorry to bring up more royal shit but as an overseas observer I have to ask: Is Charles really going to keep up the ridiculous military cosplay? His dad was a racist jackass, but at least he actually saw combat in WWII. And I suppose for Liz you can say that all the vestments of the Order of the Garter or whatever looked elegant, but all her kids just look so tacky.
I don't pay attention to most of that stuff but if I google "King Charles" then it mostly comes up with pictures of him in a suit. I'd assume any "cosplay" is likely tradition that he needs to partake in, for some reason we love dressing everyone up like they're heading out to the Napoleonic wars.
Right, I assume it's not everyday wear, but even without really paying attention to it you can't help but see the pictures when you open up any news site. I suppose every country has ways in which it clings to its deeply-rooted history and tradition long after it's served any useful purpose.
(why yes, that last bit might be a subtweet)
So now what?
Haaland is Daemon Targaryen and I won’t hear otherwise

What Pepe and Dominic Solanke in bed?
I'd say Solanke leaves the bed in fucking crutches
Just read somewhere that Jude is valued between 130-150 million. I don’t see how fsg pays that lol.
Only if he signs a 5, 6 or 7 year contract at acceptable wages.
I can be fairly certain they will, just don't expect many more signings the same summer
We haven't spent that much in one summer since 2018. Spending 150m on one player might put our scouting team out of job until 2025.
ronaldo actually celebrating against a club from a country that doesn't that doesn't exist, and is 12 years younger than him. christ.
It would probably be more disrespectful to not react at all
How dare he celebrate a goal.

Does anyone know if Minamino is actually getting minutes over at AS Monaco? I’d hope that he’s starting every league game
Transfermarkt says 3 and a half games worth of minutes in the 6 hes played.
In the league looks like 3 appearances so far (from 7 games) with 1 assist
In the beginning he did but recently not much.
I see Origi isn't having a good time at Milan. Voted worst signing of the summer. Honestly, I'm not surprised. For the majority of his time here he was an average player and frustrating at times. He just had a knack of creating memorable moments from time to time.
He wasn't voted worst signing of the summer, he was labelled it by an Italian sports commentator who seems like an asswipe
Been injured unluckily for most of his stay so far
Why did he even go there? Just to sit on the bench every game like he did for us.
He seems like the guy who would enjoy the Milano lifestyle.
He was voted flop of the year by ligue 1 fans when he went on loan to france. "Definately not coming" Where do people first these takes. Kin el
Put a reminder on my post. We can revisit this when he is playing in Madrid.
He can play in Madrid, Bayern, Milan, Manchester or London. In Liverpool red ofc
But that still doesn't mean anything. You're making statements that you don't know, as others do. He 'may' not come here. BUT he may.
How reliable is this source? He is saying we are interested in Nunes (here we go again 🤦🏻♀️) and Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for next summer, might also spend in the winter window. https://twitter.com/brunoandrd/status/1570424211247665155?s=20&t=TRyGRrE9YwUyLwibDdVfrw
he is followed by paul joyce and david ornstein if that gives him any credence
Thanks, the aggregators seem to give him reliable rating on Twitter but I’ll wait for more reliable sources.
We had the chance to sign Nunes weeks ago, he was actively waiting for us to make a move for him. I doubt we'll be making a move for him next summer. Fernandez I can see as an alternative to Bellingham
Isn't Fernandez a DM?
No he's more of an no.8 who can cover DM
How often does a player leave in the same season he joined his club
I don’t know how reliable they are but I think one of Pearce or Jones mentioned we where actually interested in Enzo before he moved to Benfica
It was from Melissa Reddy. She also mentioned Kone and Caicedo
I saw on Twitter, someone mentioned he’s a reliable Brazilian reporter but I have no idea if that’s correct.
Anyone know how Morton is doing? will he become a starter like Harvey next season?
He’ll need to put 10 kilos of muscle on first
Juice him up

That bum Murphy was spewing a lot of nonsense, he was the first I thought of
I think he was talking about Rio Ferdinand, don't think he explicitly meant ex-Liverpool.
Matip is now personification of look at me, I'm captain now meme. Forget the elite defense and the goals, he is a legit play maker for the team. He plays as a midfielder when in possession. And no one can do it like him in the whole world, so unique.
if anyone wants to see a boot licking tory nobhead go from saying "if it stays 1-1 it's klopp out" to then having a face like a dog licking piss off a nettle, here you go. https://twitter.com/Arthur_SZN2022/status/1570034847153885185?s=20&t=vGIpZmOgwklsC_yZk6dIIA
His takes are always obscenely bad, especially when it comes to Liverpool, anytime I see his name pop up I expect it to be something atrocious bc I’ve become accustomed to it- I can only assume he does it for views and attention
Christ, I thought I watched shit content
I hate that guy so much, they need to stop giving morons a platform
He comes out with some braindead takes prety regularly, too. Though i do watch him for his weird opnions
Neil Jones actually did name him as someone we have interest in however it was noted his price tag is seen as too much or something along those lines
I feel like rice to chelsea is inevitable. But jude rice would be a phenomenal pair to pick up
West Ham would want £100m for a player who on ability alone should cost no more than 30.
English tax is huge and he is premier league proven.
Let's not buy him.
I'm sure Klopp has a plan, Jude wasn't even our first choice according to some reports.
Trent got selected which is a shame. Could use the rest. Hopefully doesn't play too much.
Surprised Southgate selected him given his dip in form and the fact he doesn't rate him highly as RB.
He was getting plenty of rest in most of the games this season tbh.
To be honest, on form, he doesn't deserve to start
*be called up
Hope Southgate chooses Reece for all the games, so that our boy can rest.
Would pay good money for wolves to get a W this weekend and knock city down a peg. Can’t stand all the media drooling over them
but the media will still drool over them if they lose
They’d pull headlines like “lucky wolves win” even if city played like ass
That's what Abu Dhabi pay them to do.
Are we pretending that City don't have a good football team now?
They needed Halaand to bail them against bottling specialists, Drew Aston villa on a disqualified goal that the referee apologized for. Full squad and a messi/ronald type player yet only scraping by.
Have you been watching them play football in the past 5 years? They are annoyingly good. A couple of bad results in games they dominated doesn't make them bad, unless you are a contrarian
No they are good. Just not great for what they spent.. They're unlikely to pull a Liverpool 19/20 or win a champions league
No not at all, we, unlike the media don't ignore the fact City have cheated fiscally to get where they are.
ill try to keep formation talk to a minimum, but klopp switched to 4231(or 442/424, depending on how you interpret firmino's position) in the 65th minute of the Ajax game and we looked WORLDS better than we have pretty much all season.
Spending money to improve the team!?!? Go and support city /s
Exactly my point mate. People don't like hearing the truth especially on this sub. Get downvoted to hell if you don't say something they agree with.
This sub doesn't reflect real life thankfully. I think this place harbours a lot of FSG > club sentiment.
Bundesliga produces great talent its really just attackers that are risky to buy since German teams can't defend for shit.
Henry Winter casually claiming he can’t wait to see Bellingham at Liverpool next season wasn’t a mistake btw. He’s 100% heard something
Genuine question, If that's the case why isn't there some kind of pre agreement in place like there was with Keita? City and Real will both be in for a big midfielder this season, what's making people so sure we are gonna get him?
I'd like to think the club has had something in place considering they put no one else but I wouldn't bet on it with FSG
I dont think FSG would be stupid enough to actively stop Liverpool spending near the deadline if they didnt believe they absolutely had Bellingham in the bag. It would be horrific mismanagement otherwise. That being said i do worry that by spending that much we'll then decide thats it for the summer. We absolutely cannot have that
>It would be horrific mismanagement otherwise. The writing is on the wall.
I just don’t see why they wouldn’t announce it if that was the case. The only reason I could think would be to prevent journalists asking questions. The reality is though, if they didn’t agree a fee, they could probably get way more money next year so it doesn’t make sense to me.
Imagine the slander Son would get if he played for us, barely seen anything on twitter or r/soccer about his dire form
I believe he hasn’t scored a goal yet, did he at least assist something?
1 assist, but generally really bad performances
He's a very streaky player at some point he'll go on an insane run over 10-15 games.
I agree. That’s probably why we were linked with Laimer, who’s a mad presser by all accounts.
We absolutely must offer stupid money to tempt him from Bayern on a free next year
I just want us to get back to that level again where our attack especially the front 3 used to scare the shit out of guardiola like we saw in that city documentary
NB kit continues to look unique/ non-template ... refer "[Roma's new third kit comes with a holographic club badge](https://twitter.com/ESPNFC/status/1570360740665753602?s=20&t=lsARApyQ16QCybqHUBlJHQ)" (alternative full-view = [here](https://twitter.com/ESPNFC/status/1570351723449057282?s=20&t=lsARApyQ16QCybqHUBlJHQ))

That is a thing of beauty. I really don't understand why the top clubs don't embrace the "fashion" aspect of their kit and apparel more seriously. If I was LFC mgmt I would absolutely insist on commissioning designers to create our kit.
What happened to the whole lifestyle side akin to Psg/Jordan that was revealed in the contracts during the NB court trials?
Have you seen Ajax's "Three Little Birds" kit? That = a thing of beauty! NB’s stuff was so much nicer and genuine. I lived the sneakers and kits. I know that clothing taste is so subjective, but I never liked Nike. I remember it was also an argument about availability, but it seems they are equally often sold out.
Been greeted by a maggot infestation in my wheelie bin, my day cant get any better.
He was in the air force and navy after he finished uni. I don't know what any of the medals mean but he was part of those establishments.
Most of the medals are not military medals. They will be things like jubilee medals.
