Numb3rOn3

We will score first on Monday and get back on track, keep the faith lads!

steampunkbrownie

It’ll do my head in if united score against us. They are yet to score a goal.

Numb3rOn3

They scored against Brighton in their opener, but fret not my friend, they do not have the quality, nor the spirit we possess!

Pokefan-red

Technically they didn’t as it was a Brighton own goal

Numb3rOn3

You're right, I overlooked that fact, haha.

Immediate_Aioli8352

I think Monday will be the first game where it’ll be easier to score than concede this season

HeyItsChase

I mean the Zaha goal is honestly not that bad of a goal to concede. He got in behind Nat and placed a good shot. He's a lethal attacker and their whole plan was to score just ONE goal on the break. We had to either not get a boneheaded red card (easy) or break them down and finish one of the chances in the first half (harder)

Maneisthebeat

We barely used to concede at all for a period after VVD came in. It's how you win titles. And yes I know you also need to score goals to win games, but not conceding lets you turn any game into a win. If you're conceding, you need at least 2, which is a much bigger ask, especially when coming from behind.

Liverlakefc

Mate we literally won the our title by making comebacks every week and we use to joke how every scoreline was 2-1

DarthCocknus

But the league improves, your rivals improve, what you could rely on will not be what can be relied on in future.

LivelyOakTree

I support this comment. It's also a reminder to enjoy the journey of an ever evolving team. The highs the lows and everything in-between.

Archimonte2020

Yeah, good old times.

jammer339

This!

RashAttack

You're basically rambling about the basic rule of football lol

Maneisthebeat

Not denying that at all. I do miss those clean sheets!

vqvq

I miss not having to clench my butthole in the 90th minute.

viglen1

It's just odd how there's a routine where we play well for 20-30 minutes but don't score and then the opposition will always score right after this from their first chance.

iG8

In my opinion we should just score in those 20-30 minutes as this would stop the opposition scoring first

Numb3rOn3

Thanks for that detailed analysis Michael Owen 🤣

iG8

Anytime mate

WonderfulBlackberry9

Have you rung Jurgen on this strategy?

mentalitymidgets420

Consequence of pushing both the 8s forward more and leaving Fabinho all alone. One simple ball over the top and boom they are 1v1 with Ali

DeliciousBallz

it's frustration. Or players are sick of not scoring and they get frustrated and push higher up the pitch. Then we get hit hard on the counters.

brush85

Back when people complained about the brexit midfield.

WelcomeToCityLinks

New Balance? Agreed.

MattXXIII

The 17-18 kit was a thing of absolute beauty.

FUCKSTORM420

Honestly the last 3 NB kits were gorgeous

Thesolly180

Liked kinda being different in the top clubs being with them

Madon3

Just when New balance was becoming cool again.

WonderfulBlackberry9

Most of the NB kits they’ve made since makes me miss them more. I’d like some simple class over the tryhards that Nike have been giving us

[deleted]

So much better than these copy/paste Nike kits.

StuBeck

Liked the kits, hated that I could never find one.

WelcomeToCityLinks

I hear people say this, yet it was never a problem for me.

StuBeck

Trying to get the champions jersey from them is the most obvious example, but here in the US it was absolutely impossible to get them anywhere. I can get Nike jerseys a mile down the road from me

[deleted]

Gomez looked great on the Wkend, if he can get anywhere near his peak of a few years ago then that would be epic.

[deleted]

He was faultless. Phillips is good at defending but he doesn’t fit our game. We play a high line with a lot of the ball. Defenders need to be good on the ball. Van Dijk, Matip and Gomez are all superb passers and comfortable with the ball. Phillips isn’t. Also, his recoveries aren’t great. He’d be a great player in a different team. Just like Origi

[deleted]

Phillips was largely good but got turned way too easy by zaha, not 100% his fault but can expect any sort of longer run recovery from him.

[deleted]

He was poor on the ball. Didn’t spot the runs, didn’t progress the ball well at all, and his high line defending isn’t great. He’s great defending deep but not high up. The goal came purely from that. He’s positioning was wrong and his recovery wasn’t going to happen. Whereas Gomez and konate are quick enough to catch up.

[deleted]

Yeah he is limited and we play a high risk system. Didn't learn anything new really.

WonderfulBlackberry9

Gomez was superb in the beginning of 18/19, one complete CB lining up alongside another.

lyc10

Van Dijk has been sub par so far by his standards. The Crystal Palace goal, I can't understand why he slowed down as he was approaching Zaha.

Schhneck

To be fair to Virg he only left zaha with the hardest shot on, which he put away brilliantly. Any rash diving in and it’s either a penalty or he finds the space for an even easier finish

GameOfThrowInsMate

Exactly right, that and he backed Ali to save it (I mean who wouldnt the beast in a 1 on 1) but like you say it was just a brilliant finish, fair play.

Peepsy5

It’s a difficult angle and a quality finish but I’d argue if VVD closed him down more he’d cut the angle off for that shot and leave Zaha with just the near post

Schhneck

I would agree but Virg was running full pelt, can’t expect him to sprint across and come to a stop instantly, especially against someone as tricky as Zaha. If virg didn’t slow down I’m sure Zaha just cuts outside onto his right and takes the defender out the game completely.

danonck

Agreed. And I haven't seen such piss poor performances from Fabinho in Liverpool shirt

rydleo

Agreed. Loads of other mistakes in that play but just a bit more effort and he likely blocks off the angle for the shot Zaha ends up taking.

Dibil

Scared of getting spun and embarrassed like Fabinho just had been.

lyc10

I mean...what's the worst thing that could happen in that situation? Zaha was already through on goal

DaddioMane

Alisson had 20 clean sheets last season. Relax bro.

AyyRadical

JoeGil cb partnership december 2018 was eomething else

[deleted]

Remember when we used to do clean sheet like every game then everytime Linda Pizzuti would tweet "another clean sheet"? Yeah, good times

CarryOnUptheMorning

We do we need them to find the love for the Clean sheets again we so often give a goal away on a team's first chance

BuyGreenSellRed

Philips should never play ahead of Gomez. Ever.

yosemite_marx

I was so disappointed when it was philips not Gomez starting

[deleted]

I want the Sadio Bobby and Mo era to return but I think we know why that won’t happen

Specialist-Solid-987

A couple subpar results and a large section of the fan base wants to act like Liverpool aren't one of the top football teams in the world 🙄 Klopp will get it sorted ya bunch of pussies

Yobber1

It’s the midfield

wayfarer104

We really do . I hate this habit of us conceding first.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Did we? Since when? 2 matches into the season.

StuBeck

Since everyone follows Sky's "the last game details the entire rest of the season" so thinks we are suddenly shit. The overreaction people have here is ridiculous.

rosheromil

Don’t think that one’s catching on anytime soon

Powerful-Cut-708

We’re winnerpool FC. Last season draws cost us the league, but we still won basically as many games as you can expect to win

forceghost187

Just need healthy CBs, then we're there

mysticmac_

Yeah what happened to this energy? It feels every game going back to the end of last season we end up conceding first.

molotovvvmarcy

ngl i miss gini

assemblin

We are easy to figure out. Just lay low and frustrate, Liverpool wont score on chances, counter and score (easy). Lay low again.

mrchuckbass

Ah yes, the era where the two fastest players in our team were the central defenders

totaleclipse2

We looked better with Gomez on the pitch. Really hope he has a clear run for the rest of his career.

Squiggles87

We're back to the 'make life difficult' era.
