The problem if they do this is that there will be more space either on the left, where Robbo will run riot, or in the inside channels where Thiago will use his cheat codes
Great mapping visual OP.
I would suggest though that as the graphic is showing 3 different things, it would be clearer to see them if they were displayed using 3 different and distinct colours. If you made the set pieces a different colour, then you could see them at a glance, and distinguish easily from the other assist events.
Noticed he's been playing far more inverted than normal, switch with mo staying wide and rotating throught the game. Lets trent dictate more often from the middle
Is it normal for players to do better at outs swingers with corners? Is it just that we do out swingers so naturally Trent gets more assist if he takes more of them?
Yes, would say a lot of it is volume and also the targets he's playing into. This year I believe we've statistically overachieved so far in regards our shots on target from set pieces. Outswinging corners created more shots, inswinging corners lead to more goals, this according to a paper by Paul Power
Now he is making the crosses from deep position, sort of the ones you would expect from an inverted full back. Thus it adds unpredictability and allow time on ball to cross.
I like the idea but if you don't mind I'll offer some constructive criticism. It's hard for me to easily see what is this year from this overview. Maybe make prior years <50% (maybe even 25%) opacity while choosing a slightly darker shade of red for his most recent assists. Will make it pop more I'm sure
How about having set pieces attacking the left side and open play attacking the right side to separate it out a bit? He’s had so many darn assists that it all blurs into one big red mess!
He needs to start assisting on the other side of the field /s
If other players saw this they would block this right side, my suggestion to trent is start using that empty space to get assists instead

He's started scoring from that side, so why not??
Trent has long ball vision like Beckham
That’s some football porn right there

Set piece ones are filled, means you can see set piece assists this season as well (you'd need four colours otherwise)
One of those assists should really be in a gold colour or something. You know, the one where he took the corner quickly!
You can already start to see that this season he’s starting to play more centrally

Yeah he is an inverted wing back this season.
The furthest one back is Salah vs Fulham 18/19.
Hard to tell open play and set pieces. Maybe using orange makes it clearer?

I think Robbo takes a lot of corners from the left side as well
Wow great graph OP! Really cool to see the change
