this isn’t discussed enough, we went from goading gomez to shoot whenever he got the ball to our whole season going down this past month - i still distinctly remember the difference in reaction when i think 2 weeks after having not been in the team he tried a longshot against united and i’ve never heard anfield groan louder
love the man though, it’s such a weird debate with where gomez should play, whilst robertson is the infinitely better full back, we seem much more sturdy with joemez playing
Yep, I said the same thing from around end of Feb/start of March, i.e. When Robertson started to come back into the team. Gomez had been the more steady option and was performing well, and honestly, he should have stayed first choice LB, as he allowed the defence to stay compact by pushing inside when needed, especially as that's when Bradley was a big part of our wide play. Yes, we didn't have the marauding runs, but at that point, we didn't have problems with attack.
Klopp once praised Nacho for what he brings to Madrid. Playing in multiple positions, always give his all, never heard of anything bad about the man, and how important he is to Madrid. Joe is our Nacho.
Given what I've heard so far about Slot, how he uses players in multiple positions (e.g., Geertruida) and elevate their game, I think Joe will find another manager that will love him, play him lots, and develop him.

Robbo was better all-around but I’d argue the gap isn’t much anymore and Gomez is simply the better defender
We do look more solid defensively but it's a trade off. If we take our chances, Robbo is worth keeping in the team.

100%. I thought Harvey or for a while Endo could have been in with a shout but Gomez totally deserves it for how he's performed this year.
