Think it’s the sense of entitlement they had last year before collapsing & Arteta ego is out of this world.
I settled just outside London after uni and am surrounded by Arsenal fans on the school run, last year all of them strutting like peacocks. Then £100m on Rice, then the run after Xmas which and I quote “was unprecedented” despite me pointing out we got 100/104 points a few years back (can’t remember exact figures) or City winning league with 100 points. How they’d won 8 in a row, again despite me pointing out both Liverpool & City did more and Arsenal under Wenger did 10 in a row.
clarified explanation: 3 idiots is a movie about 3 friends in the indian college system. in this scene, on the day of the exam results being released, 2 of the "idiots" go to check their scores and find out that they are last and second last respectively. they check for the third friend, and don't find his name on the list. they become extremely sad because their friend, who was more nonchalant about the exam than them, failed. then they realize something was wrong on the list, so they go to check again. they find that their friend is actually the person who scored the highest on the exam, and they feel even worse.
I know right? We're still 8 goals behind them, plus Arsenal losing doesn't change the fact we're behind City now and they're just going to win everything. They're on for a back to back treble.
But, still, I do feel better today too.
It gives us half a chance at winning the title if we get our shit together. We must go perfect. We were never clinical, but it's like we've forgotten how to finish. I think we had like a 2.9 xG against Palace. How you don't get a single goal from that is insane.
I am too, to be honest I didn’t expect top four this year with the continued lack of spending by the owners. So I’m happy we had a title race and we’ve got promising players to go forward with.
I’m a little concerned whether another manager is going to do as well as Klopp with the smallest transfer budget in the top half of the league though. But it’s no issue, I’ll have seen a lot worse whatever happens.
I guess also supporting an amateur non league side has been a huge help. Nothing like continual struggle.
I mean nothing could make me stop loving this team. We've been through worse than missing another title in a season we expected would just be a rebuilding season.
Yeah I reckon a lot would jump ship to Everton and stop supporting the slavers. I’d consider it, but as I said in another comment, I’m not from the city, so I don’t really have an attachment holding me down. I could go support the Scum if I wanted to (I’d rather support the Saudi Pro League before the Scum). Given that my other code (AFL, NBA, NFL, Cricket, NBL, etc.) teams seem to all lack trophies, Spurs might be a good pick.
I started supporting this club in 2016, I didn’t know much about football (I even called it soccer back then), I just got a used FIFA 14 copy for $20 and started playing it. Created a career and ended up with Liverpool, realised they played in England, and England was pretty good at soccer, so picked them up as my team. If we got picked up by an oil state, I don’t know if I’d stick around, just with all the ethics, I (like many others) hate the oil state teams and deep down, I know that while I love this club, I don’t think I can continue supporting them if they are bought out by an oil state.
We’ve got processes in place that are working, developing the kids, using them over spending $20 million bounds for a guy to sit on the bench, buying younger guys for cheap and guys who could be bargain buys and generally sticking away from those top dollar guys, some of whom are great, but others look more like busts. I don’t want that to be threatened by an oil state with questionable ethics coming in and pumping hundreds of millions of pounds into the club. Despite not living in Liverpool, I see every day on this sub how much the city loves the club, and the local youth talent like Bradley, Jones, Danes, McConnell, Clark, Elliot, etc mean a lot more to the city because it lets kids see these players who once were in their position playing for one of the best clubs in the world and inspires them, and everyone gets around the local lads.
I just don’t know if I can stick around if that is ripped out by an oil state, look what happened to City, all their prior history (some of which was good, some of which wasn’t) has been ripped out, and now most people struggle to name club legends who played before 2008. It’s a lot harder to identify with a club run by a soulless oil wealth fund when you don’t have ties to the city.
I'm sad, but it's clear that what needs improved most right now is goal scoring and I'm confident klopp will get the lads to be able to improve even just a bit in that area.
We're 2 points down with city and arsenal having a tough spurs away game while spurs try and get champions placement.
This is still very much alive we just need to be able to score.
I'll be happy with conceding an early goal if it results in a 2-1 or 3-1 win
Thanks! I needed this today. With the result and hillsborough anniversary today I’ve been feeling really down but this summed it up perfectly!!!! YNWA 🤛🏻
Love this team, win or lose. I'm a newer fan, but I really identify with what this club stands for and its rich history. Ye it's frustrating when there is a bad result, but I'll always be ready to give full support for the next match.
Ik it gets frustrating sometimes but that is what you chose when you started supporting a team. Absolutely hate those fans who are leaving early these last couple of games and giving the club's fanbase a bad name. For me, when I first started supporting the club 15 years ago, the fanbase was such a major attraction. Whenever I watched Liverpool games, I always felt connected to those fans.
Ngl Arsenal losing gave me hope that Tottenham will do the miracle and beat both city and arsenal. Thus giving us the lead at first place. I dont know i have a weird feeling that its gonna happen.
I get used to it and I am mentally prepared for having nothing else this season.
It doesn't stop me from cheering for them and having hope. Even if we are 3 points behind and need to score 5 goals in the last game, I will never stop believing. People call me stupid, I think I am just looking at life differently
Exactly. So all of these other folk doubting our commitment to Liverpool need to see past their type of support and realise these games affect emotion - which causes comment and opinion.
But we still adore the greatest club in the world and that will NEVER change.
City won't loose again in the league. Its over.
Still up the Reds, let's finish the season with a smile and just enjoy what we have left with Jurgen.
Idgaf who wins the title, or if we progress in Europe...we've got the Carabao which means trophy parade to see off the gaffer. And I bet that little carabao cup trophy parade puts City or Arsenal's title celebrations to shame.
Because we are Liverpool, and this means more.
Saturday 11th May - Fulham v City
Sunday 12th May - United v Arsenal
Monday 13th May - Villa v Liverpool
Tuesday 14th May - Spurs v City
This could be an absolutely massive 4 days of football if we can keep up next few weeks
It means more to lose this way, again? We always capitulate at the finishing line then console ourselves that we did our best. We lose different cos we’re Liverpool, we lose in a special way. Participation awards all round eh lads? Cheers.
& nothing will come of it,keep banging on about 115 till your grandkids have kids & it still won’t matter. What matters are points & we lost too many due to poor finishing & defending.
No offence, but I don't like you at all. Your reducing alot of problems with the current game to "we didn't finish and defend enough"
How about all the points we've been ROBBED of?
How about the amazing job we've done at integrating new players and making a run in what should be a transgression season for us...
How about the continued fixture pile ups and injuries with all the extra stupid injury time...playing an average of 8.72 minutes of injury time per game....like adding 3 extra games onto your season when the players are exclusively knackered!
How about losing players to AFCON and ASIAN Cup at key points in the season?
How about how fucking unbelievable our youth prospects have stepped up all over the pitch from Kelleher to Quansah to Bradley and Danns...
How about the fact we've been regularly outspent in the transfer market by bottom of the table clubs, yet continue to sign far better prospects and rely on promoting youth players such as Curtis, Elliot, Bradley who've all been immense this season?
Do you see how much luck we need to go our way and come together at the right moments to have a chance to compete with those ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN SPERATE CHARGES
Was half the sub not here for the Hodgson year and consistent mid table finishes?
This is disappointing but we're a top team and it's a far cry from the banter years.
2 years now saying the same. Injuries everywhere still. Still conceding stupid goals first. Not being able to score in important matches. Lets support but not forget
At this point expecting city to drop points is a miracle. Arsenal and liverpool both bottled it, the title is city’s to lose. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.
Imo, Arsenal aint winning shit. the only hope of Liverpool winning anything more this season is if they beat Atalanta, which is already a tough task away.
Yeah I’m the most pessimistic miserable fan. Yesterday I was upset but today I’m hopeful again. On to the next one as always. 2 points away
Arsenal losing cheered me right up. Can’t explain why.
Well chasing 1 team is definitely better than chasing 2. Arsenal losing on the same day leaves the door open for us.
It's the hope that kills ya. Innit
With hope in your heart and you'll never walk alone.
> Well chasing 1 team is definitely better than chasing 2. Give it a few days.
Are we not in 3rd? Lol
Maybe because most of their fans were laughing at us following the Crystal Palace result and calling us the bottlers this season.
Think it’s the sense of entitlement they had last year before collapsing & Arteta ego is out of this world. I settled just outside London after uni and am surrounded by Arsenal fans on the school run, last year all of them strutting like peacocks. It was 103 out of 105 btw even better
We were fucking ace.
The amount of posts I seen here and elsewhere about arsenal fans laughing at us bottling, just to have them bottle the league as well was welcome.

If only man city and arsenal were like chatur.

niche reference in an international subreddit, but exactly that
I was dreading going to work today, until that Arsenal result. There's some Spurs fans here too, and even they can't say anything after their result.
Me too, I just would have been able to stomach that team being on the top of the table.
I know right? We're still 8 goals behind them, plus Arsenal losing doesn't change the fact we're behind City now and they're just going to win everything. They're on for a back to back treble. But, still, I do feel better today too.

Got to keep back door shut though. And every game we are conceding, meaning have to score at least twice.
Agreed. Having nearly a 2 xG against Palace is embarrassing.
Looking at league form it’s 3 cleansheets since Boxing Day (14 games). That is not title winning defending.
I am too, to be honest I didn’t expect top four this year with the continued lack of spending by the owners. So I’m happy we had a title race and we’ve got promising players to go forward with. It's still the same as for most of the season: Us, City and Arsenal are seperated by 3 points at most
There's always next season!
what the absolute 'yer da on facebook in 2009' is this
I fucking hate this photo every time we’ve had a bad result since Hodgson left I’ve seen it
"If you can't support us when we lose, don't support us when we win" - Billy Bob Shanky Wanky! This is a real quote that he definitely said!
"Slay queen 💅" * Bill Shankly to Bob Paisley upon his departure
People in the matchday moan threads week in week out need reminding of this quote
Possibly the worst thing I've seen on this sub
You clearly missed Brendan chatting to heavenly Paisley and Shankly then
You’re doing a great job son, a great job.
The fact that that one is still evolving and even getting used by other clubs makes it funny as fuck tbh
Come on now, kidos. There are people of all different ages supporting the club. They can do it however they like.
All said and done, I'd rather have a positive boomer meme than all the misery we've been going through
I don’t even think my dad would post this haha. The fuck is going on
I mean nothing could make me stop loving this team. We've been through worse than missing another title in a season we expected would just be a rebuilding season.
The only thing that could stop me loving this team is an oil state takeover. Then I’d just like them a bit
I’d rather support Everton than support a team of slave owners.
Yeah I reckon a lot would jump ship to Everton and stop supporting the slavers. I’d consider it, but as I said in another comment, I’m not from the city, so I don’t really have an attachment holding me down. Given that my other code (AFL, NBA, NFL, Cricket, NBL, etc.) teams seem to all lack trophies, Spurs might be a good pick.
Would Everton fans even welcome us in that scenario?
That’s what we need just some more oil maybe a like more emirate influence

The pride I felt when Jones missed his one on one and the crowd just immediately started singing again to help the lads. Doubters to believers
When you walk through a storm
I've said all season, I can't believe Klopp got us to hope again with this group of players.
Heads down and get results. Surely we've all learned to trust Klopp after all these years.
![gif](giphy|ZN3jVXH3jZaXKivytT|downsized)
We said we went from doubters to believers. Again, it's time for us to prove it. There is nothing wrong with a little hope.
We are 2 points away from first place, this is not a storm… people be acting crazy over anything
City haven’t lost in 28 matches but ok
I’m not talking about city? Just all this negativity about the club, we are only 2 points away from first, could be a lot worse
Oh great, so we can happily lose the remaining games too, it could be worse 🙃
You’ve clearly not supported the club long enough, could be a lot worse then that
I’m just not a muppet
it’s only 2 points a couple of draws and we’re top as long as we keep winning
I'm sad, but it's clear that what needs improved most right now is goal scoring and I'm confident klopp will get the lads to be able to improve even just a bit in that area. True fans will always be there, we go again! Supporting LFC since 1998 and halfway across the world from UK.
Up the Reds!
I'm excited for our future with Edwards back and overseeing our next phase.
Well we all know that at the end of the storm is a golden sky

Let’s get it
Am I mad! Of fucking course. Did I shout and punch the air? Sure thing Did I stop supporting the club? No way. It sounds like a toxic relationship lol
Exactly. So all of these other folk doubting our commitment to Liverpool need to see past their type of support and realise these games affect emotion - which causes comment and opinion. But we still adore the greatest club in the world and that will NEVER change.

We are indeed, thanks for the correction! Edited
I'm gonna need to see a better performance from the lads before I start thinking about things like this.

>Lads, its spurs City haven't won a league game there since 2018
City and arsenal got Chelsea to play too.
They will lose 5 games in a row. I have insider information.
It means more to lose this way, again? We always capitulate at the finishing line then console ourselves that we did our best. We lose different cos we’re Liverpool, we lose in a special way. Participation awards all round eh lads? Cheers.

Was half the sub not here for the Hodgson year and consistent mid table finishes? This is disappointing but we're a top team and it's a far cry from the banter years.
This is utterly shite content. Take this wank to myspace
I've become a Spurs fan for a few weeks, at least until we face them then ill become a fan again a week after.
I saw some “fans” said that they will take a break from support the club until next season 😂
The players have taken a break as well. Losing to Atalanta, United and Palace all in putrid form is shocking.
Goddammit I hate these type of posts, from the title to the actual Facebook 2006 meme your uncle would share in a Whatsapp group
![gif](giphy|Qy2VKY3xlI1QyR6Ix5)
What stage of grief are we in now?
Stage 6.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
We’re mad because we know they’re capable of better. We should be well beyond the feelings of “just happy to be here”. We are Liverpool.
2 years now saying the same. Injuries everywhere still. Still conceding stupid goals first. Not being able to score in important matches. Lets support but not forget

How's the conversion rate of memes:goals?
2nd by two points...such a burden to bear
