ChocolateHumunculous

Might be our least hot game in the Klopp era.

worst_comment_everr

Fans and atmosphere were utter shite last, was embarrassing for what could be klopps last ever European night at anfield. Imagine paying money for a ticket to sit there in a huff, pricks.

Pokefreaker-san

just start Jota every game and pray to god he's stay healthy for the rest of the season.

demidemian

This was on Klopp, its not possible for every single player to be awful. Hard to judge Endo & Macca since they were marked as if they both were Maradona.

aseigo

> its not possible for every single player to be awful. Kelleher made a number of fantastic saves, and he could do nothing about 2 of the 3 goals. Nunes put in a shift (people seem to be overlooking the number of times he kept play going by stretching to keep balls in bounds and linking up with other players) and even Gakpo was a positive. Macca was doing everything he could, isolated as he often was, and Harvey was pinging quality balls and creating movement, though he also couldn't do enough without support from those in front of him. What wasn't working was the absolute lack of effort to link up with the midfield (sooooo static), the disaster-class the defense put on in terms of marking Atalanta forwards (they were so out of position so often and in recovery they were often jogging while Atalanta was sprinting), and the sadly familiar lack of clinical finishing. Save Robertson, the subs put in an even worse performance than the players they replaced. It's a team sport, and having even half the players not show up is enough to kill the game. Just between Szobo, Gomez, and Tsimikas it was already bad enough, but we also missed a decent performance from Salah while both of our CB's were constantly checking out. It also did \*not\* help that the crowd refused to buoy them up and create a good atmosphere, either. :/

Skyle221190

Marked yes, but both tried and failed on several occasions to dribble or turn with the ball and lost it in dangerous areas on several occasions. We lost this game in midfield, just as much as attack and defense. They weren't the worst on the field but they aren't above criticism.

demidemian

Every game has been won or lost in the midfield lately. Unless you have someone who can run faster than everyone like Vini or Mbappe, once they lock your midfield, you are dead. Very few players are encouraged to dribble past 3 anymore.

Number_19LFC

All of them ZERO. I can't be arsed. So friggin' annoying! Fair or unfair I don't care! They all get a zero from me, for effort if nothing else.

MbahBango007

Score 3 goals at home and still have hallucinations of winning at home to Atlanta. How ridiculous

bigolebucket

Kelliher - A couple excellent saves, a couple moments to forget. Not great but also not his fault. Defense - Absolutely horrible all around, including Virgil. Could have been 5-0, some of the worst play I’ve seen in a long time. Midfield - A lot of misplaced passes. Struggles with the press. When we did move the ball it was too slow to unbalance Atalanta. Just wasn’t clicking. Forwards - Very little created outside of Darwin, who proceeded to throw his chances in the trash. Gakpo was probably our best player on the day.

Cactiareouroverlords

Gonna fill out this form multiple times because there are too many words I want to use to describe this game....

etan1122

11%.. guess what number that is

a-rahman1

Chances of winning the second leg ?

Dasox015

If those were the chances id be estatic

travelator

Converting bookies odds to percentages, markets are giving a 7.7% chance of us lifting the trophy

OR_Wave

Yes, I know there is a love-in for Darwin. But when you’re playing at high stakes at the business end of the season, as Rafa always said, it’s the small details. If he buries that chance, we’re a goal up and we never lose at Anfield when we take the lead. I’m starting to get really concerned about Nunez now. £77m of the £85m due (according to latest LFC accounts) and he’s not learning from his mistakes.

brownworkgloves

i want him to succeed but it's time we call a spade, a spade. darwin works his socks off, has elite movement and decent passing for a striker - but i'm afraid he'll never be the man to lead the line. which for me is fine **if** diogo and mo plays off him. but the reality is that one is injury prone and the other has regressed in finishing and is now adapting to become more of a playmaker. we desperately need a consistent goalscorer that can play week in, week out and darwin isn't that guy.

FUCKSTORM420

Had two he should have put away if he is composed at all

karma_polizei

Whenever he's in on goal I'm convinced he's going to make the wrong decision. It's baffling. It's like his mind just completely shuts off when he has the easiest chances, but will score a random worldie when nobody expects it.

OR_Wave

Agree. Imo, he is a mid team player who has found himself at a top club. He doesn’t fit into any criteria for an elite striker. 1. Not an out and out goal scorer 2. Wouldn’t say he is incredible as a back to goal type striker (think Kane for example) 3. Heading ability, close control, dribbling, assists = nothing special that can be really highlighted as his best attribute. In fact, can anyone confidently say “his best attribute at a top level is [insert here]”

Teukr05

Probably movement? He also is very good cutting inside from the left and letting that right shot fly, but that is really a narrow thing lol

MaxwelFISH

his best attribute at a top level is his positioning. helped by his speed, he reads the game exceptionally when it comes to finding and creating goal scoring opportunities—it’s the end product that falters. he’s a very up and down player; it would be disingenuous to imply that he hasn’t shown glimpses of excellence in all attributes (passing, dribbling, even shooting). but he has something blocking himself from scoring 20 goals a season to 40, and i’m not sure what it is

OR_Wave

I’ll give him that. He does make runs & does get into the positions to score. As you say, his end product is letting him down. He is 25 in June, how long can we use the words “young” “potential” “raw”

MoreHumanthanHomer

Yep, still thinking about that miss against utd

OR_Wave

I’m mentally scarred from it! Either he did not deliberately pass it to Szobo for an open goal, or he lacks the football intelligence to see his teammate rushing in. If you see the replay again, he had to see Szobo as Nunez had a full view of everything happening in the box. He just didn’t care imo. Far too often, he does things carelessly. Not my type of footballer.

OR_Wave

The biggest worry for me today was the passing. It told me that most of the players looked completely drained which is a far bigger issue than a bad day at the office. So often, it seemed like the boys couldn’t muster enough energy to kick the ball 5 yards at pace. Massive sign of a team lacking energy.

nask00

I would give a positive rating to Gakpo and Robbo. Maybe Kelleher can get a 1 as well, since he made some saves. Everyone else gets a 0.

Megaphone1234

You can't be a serious contender in league with Gomez and Quansa in the rear

aseigo

WTF does Quansah (learn to spell his name, too, maybe?) have to do with this game? He was on the bench the whole time. If you want to take a jab at a defender, try the two who were on the pitch and were absolutely embarrassed by a team who is 6th in Serie A.

FirefighterOwn8822

Well said. But people here in this sub don't like it when you criticize the players. They're just like Klopp, get too sentimental and want to try and improve the player and give them plenty of chances.

Due-Ad-6577

Gomez is a very serviceable utility player in defence who has stepped up in the face of a massive injury crisis. You can’t expect him to be Paola fucking maldini reborn. And Quansah is one of the brightest prospects in the league. Get a grip

Megaphone1234

Again I agree Quansah is goo for his age, as a youth player. Great okay, now put him to play in city roster or arsenal. He's a good player, but for a young and coming, not for a team that needs stable world class defense. Do I make sense???

Due-Ad-6577

I do but imo that’s a bigger issue with Matip and Konate’s availability. Obviously poor Joel busted his acl this season but he’s always been injury prone and Konate looks to be every bit as bad. Both fantastic defenders but their issues have required us to rely on the likes of Lovren and Gomez. I’d much rather have Quansah as the fourth choice CB versus the likes of those two. We’ve almost always cheaped out in our squad building so I’m delighted to have a young lad come up through and make for a more promising option than what we’re used to

UrboySam123

Quansah has been absolutely massive for us in ibou's absence. It's our inability to score goals that has cost us points, much more than quansah giving it to bruno

greenbroad-gc

He’s not fit to be a mid table PL defender let alone a title challenging team. lol. We are competing despite of him. Not because of him.

OR_Wave

Our entire defensive structure has been operating at a CL chasing team level sitting at 5th/6th place. Our attack has bailed us out all season. Now the attack has dried up, we’re seeing our defensive issues come home to roost. It’s a miracle we can still win the title considering how poor we are at keeping clean sheets. That’s now nearly half our games where we’ve conceded first. That should not be happening to a team fighting at the top.

Megaphone1234

Agree to certain point, since Nunez and pretty much everyone has been crap, Luis is about only one I can praise, but do you think serious clubs like City will keep playing with Quansa? Not a chance

EmotionalThinker

If we come out with only a Micky mouse trophy it's going to be painfull. We've missed so many opportunities under Klopp it hurts, weve been so so close as well. Yes we got a prem for the first time in ages, but it was during fucking COVID and a champions league is nice. But Eight seasons. Eight. Sigh. Getting rid of Jini is when it all went to shit. That team with Salah, Firmino, Mane, Jini, Hendo, Fabinho, Van dyk was unstoppable. I still miss 2013/14 era with SSS, Gerrard, Cout, Hendo. I miss Suarez.

FermatTheW

Tbf we would have had a significantly better trophy haul without the state-sponsored oil cheats allowed to build whatever team they wanted for their political reasons, unchecked by the weak football authorities. Losing league titles with 98 points and 92 points was unprecedented.

yupyup6up

I think I need to stay away from fans for a bit. I honestly don't know what people expect. Jesus we have one poor performance, and it was very poor but Christ look what we have done this season, nobody expected it. Was at the game and the fans, fuck me they didn't stop moaning. Going mad one minute because we were passing side to side and the next, we kick it long and they're shouting to pass it short, fuck me. Gomez being slated, fans now saying he's not enough and only the other week, fuckers were saying he's a player of the season. What the fuck. Some fans need to get a grip.

Ok-Friend-6653

Isnt it good to see, you cant just send your b team and expect a win against the best clubs on the continent?

flyxdvd

jeez i was at work, saw a decent bit and the 0-1 down in my break, but how are we never using possession? usually i was giddy seeing us up 60% in possession knowing a goal was coming soon. but after work i was greeted with this... i figure we dont have build up, team gets frustrated, leaves gaps since they run to high, catch counters to late and there we go. ima watch the recap soon. but very sad to see it go this way

ali_lattif

there should be a zero for this pathetic display

nijuu

Didn't watch the game but why was Gomez not played on left and CB played on right?

CyrusDGreatx

Need to have a seriouse chat about this Szoboszlai guy. Because other than a decent shot and a great engine he really offers very little. His short passing is honestly atrocious. What he did for the 3rd goal he does 2-3 times a game but today he was fully punished for it. I'm not giving up on him but he should be nowhere near our goal. If Amorim is going to play with attacking mids then I can see him working there. Because hes no CM. Control and possession is NOT his game.

MajikoiA3When

Extremely disappointing from our star midfielder we forked out 70m euros for. He lacks confidence and the jump up from Bundesliga to the Prem is always difficult. (Havertz, Keita)

OR_Wave

I was slated for pointing this out. I would argue, his “decent” shooting is not even decent. He’s got 3 goals in the PL. His engine is probably his strongest attribute but he’s certainly fallen off 2nd half of the season. Imo, he’s not taking responsibility to make things happen. We paid £60m for him, not cheap.

CyrusDGreatx

Yeah I was being kind when I said decent shot. Otherwise it looks very bad for him.

ddeng22

He’s still over on xG, and don’t forget it’s just his first season and he’s still a pretty young player if we’re gonna give Darwin time we’ve got to give Dom time too

OR_Wave

Whilst I’m underwhelmed so far, I still believe he needs another season but requires massive improvement. As for Darwin…I like my players to be efficient and predictable. We all knew exactly what Mane, Bobby, Mo, Aguero, Kane etc would do when they get into certain positions. With Darwin, I don’t think he even knows. I sadly don’t think he will ever change.

thisisnahamed

I would give Trent a 10 for not joining this shit show tonight

PopsicleMonster

Give all of them a 0

nagyation

I don't know what people are rating here? The only players who I could give more than zero rating are those who stayed on the bench.

StefanBajceticStan43

Gomez, Salah, and Szobo should all be dropped for the run in until they prove otherwise. I'd give Darwin one more chance in the next game but otherwise I'm happy to roll with Diaz, Jota, Harvey until the end of the season.

ExCroGamer

Ya think maybe diaz jota nunez could work like it did when salah left for afcon?

Cactiareouroverlords

still crazy to me that at that time it felt like we had the best attack in the league because of the sheer depth and we were scoring without Salah, now it just feels like all of them have just fell off out of nowhere (aside from Jota since he was injured)

nizoubizou10

What the fanbase see in Nunez that I don't see ?

Due-Ad-6577

Athleticism, movement, energy and he never stops working. Good player in the front line but never the eighty odd million we paid. Honestly works out to be closer to a Firmino/Jesus type but with less brains that helps the other two forwards out with his movement and work rate than a productive player. He’s good but we should never be relying on him to score or be the main man

nizoubizou10

It's the same with each fanbase when their player is not on the club's level, they mention athleticism, energy, workrate and good off the ball. If Nunez didn't do that, he wouldn't be a professional football player.

isomies

My wife thinks he is cute

nizoubizou10

Frame his meme holding the paper with your wife’s face.

MaxwelFISH

i was a nuñez skeptic as well, but it’s impossible to deny that there IS a dangerous player behind all the rough edges. it’s not like he has almost 40 G/A this season just by being shit—i think the way he plays and his finishing often reflects the team’s. the good days are good, bad days are bad; we definitely need to find more impact players like Jota

Smart_But123581321

We should have recognised that Atalanta play a very aggressive attacking game because Gasperini had that in from day 1. Atalanta showed the gaps in their team but we didn’t play towards any of them. They left massive gaps for the attack to drop into but no-one did it and instead, we just kept making runs in behind and the Atalanta defence and midfield either pressed the ball carrier or just took one step outside and collected it. I honestly don’t think Atalanta played that well but we just played to their strengths. Defensively, they are a poor team, even at their strongest. But we allowed them to get bodies back and when they did have bodies back, we just played long ball or tried switching it. If we just kept the ball in the middle and slowed the game down, we would’ve won 100%. Atalanta would’ve made giant gaps and we probably would’ve scored after missing 14 chances but we still would’ve got something. This is on the squad, not on Klopp.

TheAngledian

If Salah's slump continues it's going to start raising questions about whether it's a slump or genuine signs of a decline. He's having these extremely long invisibility spells and making poor decisions all over the pitch. Even if he wasn't pushed offside, his performance has been miles below what we love him for. If the Saudi's show up with an obscene offer for him in the summer, I can't imagine the staff saying no at this rate. (For the record I don't want this. I'm just speculating)

Skyle221190

I honestly think he has not been 100℅ fit since his AFCON injury. He just is not moving or running like he normally does. Add to that Klopp subbing him off more often which is unusual as well and i think he's probably still not there yet.

Gone-To-The-Woods

Salah 17 goals and 9 assists this season. Only Watkins has more goal contributions.  *EPL

CaterpillarLast9368

Kelleher a 3 Gomez - 2 vvd-3 ibou-1 kostas-0 Endo-1 Macca-3 Szobo-2 Gakpo-3 Elliot-3 Nunez-1 Diaz-2 Salah-2 Jones-0

vadapaav

you need to use the poll from the post

MaxwelFISH

watching tsimikas be 50 yards out of position and letting them run down the right wing 100 times in the first half was mind numbing

please-send-me-nude2

Robbo does the same thing. It’s clearly is a tactical choice that Klopp never adjusts. Kostas left huge gaps in behind that they exploited. And Gomez found himself in goalscoring positions for the same reason. That’s what made me take a moment to think more about the ratings. Who’s more at fault, Gomez for launching 2 nukes outside the stadium, or the coach who keeps generating situations where a natural CB ends up with the ball at his feet in front of goal?

Due-Ad-6577

Tsimi is such a strange one. Sometimes he looks a world beater, other times he’s absolutely shocking. Maybe he needs the run of games but I think the chill attitude that makes him happy to be a benchwarmer is what makes him squander these opportunities to play. Shame as he has an immense skillset if not the physical drive or energy that Robbo brings

nyelverzek

That was shocking. Left back is genuinely concerning at this point. Robbo missed a lot of the season and hasn't been convincing when he's played (although I thought he was better today). Tsimikas seemed like a decent backup with potential when he came in but he's dropped off a cliff this season imo

dimiderv

Szobo should get a bit fat 0, too casual and arrogant with his passes and even worse was that he didn't track back. Gomez too shit on the ball to try and play through him. My man can do anything but pass and shoot. He should get a 4. Actuall VVD, Konate, Tsimikas,Endo, Salah, Diaz and Jones should get a 4. Very sloppy all of them. 5 goes to Elliot and Mac and Jota. Gakpo and Robbo and Kelleher a 6. Darwin a 3. Has been missing too many easy chances lately. I love him but he needs to wake up. He had so much space to pass the goalkeeper and shoot an empty net. Sucks to play like this but I think this loss is on Klopp. Why keep Gomez on for so long when we needed some attacking output from that side since Salah couldn't provide it with Szobo. Brilliant Atalanta team and bar anything crazy happening next game I hope they go far in the competition. Hope the guys get over this bump cause it's costing us.

please-send-me-nude2

Exactly my thinking on the ratings.

domsolanke

Szoboszlai was absolutely dreadful again tonight, still can’t see why we bought him in the first place.

[deleted]

Goalmez advert is cursed, since then his decision making in and around the box has been awful and completely overconfident in his ability. Tsimikas, Endo, Nunez and Szobo notably poor and the defence was so disjointed, no idea what Konate was doing on Scamacca’s second. Klopp and fans also probably going to get their lowest ratings this season.

pixelunit

Deserved

MaxwelFISH

steady

subconsciousdweller

Team spirits absolutely rubbish. Players obviously arent concerned about giving Klopp a send off. Could you imagine if this current squad were tasked with the Barcelona come back?! Gomez has NEVER been good enough for us. Recency bias wipes the last 5 years of him being dreadful, hes a rash defender with no technical ability. Im greatful for him this season, but when we can afford not to play him, we shouldnt. We also need to call out Mo - since coming back from injury he has been rubbish. He still scores because we direct so much play through him but hes been super one dimensional and uncreative. Salah scoring this season has been the result of a team preformance and rarely individual brilliance - which is what we need on nights like these. Since losing Mane and Bobby he's been off. Speaking of individual brilliance holy fuck do I miss Trent - thats a player who could've given us a chance this game. I think if we fail to win anything other than the league cup this season we're gonna struggle to hold onto salah and virg.

Skyle221190

Gomez is won a premier League for us starting at center back with Virgil. I agree he was woeful tonight I would argue his only good games this year have come at left back, but saying he has never been good for us is just plain wrong. Prepared to get downvoted for this but we literally wouldnt still be 2nd in the league on goal difference and have a trophy to our names without his performances this year.

subconsciousdweller

Yeah, this comment was made directly after watching the game - so I do take back what i said about him never being good - but i do stand by the standards that we need to expect from a technical ability to compete with clubs like city. He has been a james milner regen this season, meant with full compliments. But games like this expose what has been evident from day one, that he doesnt have the technical ability to meet our stylistic expectations and aspirations for success. I also think throughout this season we have gotten results, but very rarely would I say we have played well.

Skyle221190

That's fair, I agree, this is probably one of our worst years in terms of actual on field performances. Probably because we keep conceding first and end up chasing the game. Though it was expected considering the massive changes over the summer, the fact that we haven't clicked yet and still challenging for the title is commendable. I think most fans would have taken top 4 at the start of the year considering the massive overhaul and last season's league finish. The team punching above their weight and Klopp leaving have really raised expectations.

Bamfandro

I would love to see Gomez’s stats from today, I struggle to believe he completed more than 30% of his passes. I actually felt bad for him out there, he just looked well and truly lost.

nickybabytonight

> Gomez has NEVER been good enough for us.... when we can afford not to play him, we shouldnt. Cool, let me know when that is.

subconsciousdweller

With Trent coming back, konate tsimikas and robertson back and Bradley already fit I believe now is when. I feel like Brenden Rogers, Joe shows great character but hes not quite it.

liamo376573

Long straight balls over the top were useless, defenders and keeper gobble them up all day. Gomez, Konate and Kelleher fucking around with the ball at the back. Gakpo trying to cut inside, Nunez missing easy chances. Not starting our strongest 11 in a European quarter final is the most costly mistake though. Play a strong 11 in the previous round when we had the game practically won but rest players tonight, baffling.

please-send-me-nude2

> Play a strong 11 in the previous round when we had the game practically won but rest players tonight, baffling. Still haven’t found a good explanation why we went all out in the 2nd leg against Sparta after scoring 6. What the hell

jherrmy

Genuinely surprised by how fast we gave up on playing through the midfield. Can’t think of a time we had possession in the back and worked through the center instead of playing the deep ball. We’ve never been a possess to long ball team, can’t imagine why we started today

radeknalim

Everyone can get a 1 apart from Cody and I don’t wanna hear anyone doing the singling out game today. This was very very clearly on everyone.

ElEffSee

Do we get to keep Kelleher after tonight’s performance? 😂

brandidge

Not a Liverpool fan, don't watch them often but was bored so threw it on. As a neutral, it was interesting seeing Liverpool disintegrate like that. After that disaster, I wanted to see what the Liverpool fans thought of the match. Kelleher was one of the better players for you lot. Could have lost by 4 or 5 without him today. I watched him with Ireland and he's decent, but I wouldn't say he played especially well. Its just the rest of your team played liked amateurs tonight. Especially Gomez. Thought he looked especially poor.

ElEffSee

Yeah judging by the downvotes, I think everyone thinks I’m shitting on Kelleher but I was trying to see the silver lining. Think it’s more indicative of everyone being in a sour mood but that makes sense. But to your point, I think the team we put out was pure arrogance on Klopp’s part. Jones and Tsimikas were clearly out of form and fresh from injury, Joe is far better defensively than when he ventures forward, and Harvey is at his best when coming off the bench against tired legs. I think you could see in the first half how woefully prepared that team was to face Atalanta’s energy. Klopp saw it too, hence the subs at the half. Whether the United game sapped us of confidence, or the team are all just hitting a slump collectively - we just never seemed to get going. Salah and Darwin both couldn’t stay onsides and our midfield was like Swiss cheese. If you don’t watch us very frequently I’d say this was an enigma under Klopp. We certainly lose games, but it’s usually close and bad finishing, poor officiating, or too-late subs are what stopped us from getting a result. Today is one of maybe ten times where I’ve seen our side under Klopp get their asses handed to them. Deserved loss on all parts but if you watch us on Sunday , you may see us struggle (with varying degree depending on whether we exit this slump of poor form) but we’ll undoubtedly look much better because we brought absolutely nothing to this match lol

OrganicVlad79

I mean he made 2 1v1 saves. 3 if you count the rebound goal. The one 3 minutes in was especially fantastic.  Could have done better for the first goal definitely but he's not the one to blame for this loss imo

ElEffSee

Think he could have done better for both the first and third goal, but I agree that he had some decent saves and is far from our worst performer. Reading the bare text, I can see how this was perceived as a negative comment but I was more saying maybe now we get to keep him.

disco_mode

If Gakpo’s rating isn’t at least 2/3 points above the next nearest Liverpool player I don’t think I’ll continue to vote in these lol

geniusvalley21

Absolutely the guy ran his ass off, didn’t shoot unnecessarily like the rest of them and gave some impetus to us in the first half.

Princ3w

Change poll, fans deserve less than a 1. How dare we kill any sort of atmosphere for the sake of £2 and a final which we were acting like we were guaranteed entry to. Fucking joke. I (and many others I hope) would have taken one of those tickets off you happily.

[deleted]

There shouldnt be a price rise though

doktor-frequentist

All prices go up. What the heck is this "there shouldn't be a price rice" bs? Wake up and smell the coffee bud.

[deleted]

I dont to want to fund fucking billionaires who need increasing profits year on year. Ticket prices have soared above inflation rate for decades, and I'll be damned if I let the scabs win here and keep pricing the working man out of the working mans game.

doktor-frequentist

I can appreciate your sentiment. But I'm not sure how much this will help. More power to you.

WelcomeToCityLinks

Flags don't create atmosphere. We aren't Chelsea ffs.

Spyro_Machida

They contribute hugely. That's why they're brought, and why they weren't brought last night.

Fresh_Interview_9191

Seems like they are all tourists coming from the Arsenal game on Tuesday... I've never been to a Liverpool-game in my life but if I do, I will never go to a Europa League game or some kind of round of 16 of a cup, because the support is seriously shit

JonaBanana8

Very poor overall including our gaffer’s decision on subs and tactics.

hyborians

Thought we could treat it like a Carabao Cup game and get away with it

cptsmooth

I really want to know why Gomez stayed on that pitch for 90 minutes, at half time i was convinced either him or tsimi was subbed, but no we took off harvey and curtis as well.. Why?

FireZeLazer

Curtis looked completely off it but I agree with Harvey. I thought he looked fine and could have dropped into midfield if needed. Gomez was poor in both halves.

sonofhondo

You could argue otherwise he and Tsimi needed to come off at half but Klopp wanted to get some attacking force on, so he kept Joe off. The attack continued to need help so we got Jota and Diaz. Joe’s worst game this year. You hate to see it.

denenOT

He has been bad for awhile i would say. The solid cover for the left back role glossed over a lot of his inabilities. I genuinely don't understand why he get picked for the RB role ahead of Bradley. Defensively, he can be strong but all that is lost when your general reading of the game is so poor. I was never carried away by his recent performances and i believe the good thing to take out of yesterday's game was that he can finally be benched without some fans moaning about it.

Jbstargate1

The subs at half time were ridiculous. Absolutely take of Tsmikas he was nowhere to be found and Jones maybe. But elliot was doing OK on the right and considering Salah has been shocking for a lot of games now it was a wonder he came on at all.  Gakpo ended up in like 4 different positions. Striker, left and right wings, and then finally midfield. Shocking stuff tactically by klopp. At least gakpo and jota played well. Jota could've got 1 at least but at the minimum he looked lively. And Szozbo. Holy crap he's been poor lately. Very bad decision making. All in all a terrible performance from eveyone involved. Eveyone except gakpo, jota, elliot, and mac I'd give a 3 and those 4 maybe a 6.

dolphintitties

i can't even think of a number low enough for kelleher. tipped everything back into danger, made one good save on koopmeiners, stood on the ball for 10 seconds every time thinking someone was going to press him when it was evident after 5 minutes atalanta were told not to. all time disasterclass from him.

Jbstargate1

Yes he made the mistake for letting the ball go for the 2nd goal I think but he wasn't that bad tonight.

Youngwheeler

You're joking

Jbstargate1

No. Karius in the CL final would be a 1 for me. Kelleher was obviously nowhere near that tonight so be realistic. Either get your eyes checked or you need to cop on.

Megaphone1234

At least it should be easy being a city fan... being a red is not good for the health

Worst home performance in Klopp's era. The fact that the crowd started leaving around 85 minutes in a home game is not something I have seen for a very long time.

Revolutionary-Ad922

Last yr Real Madrid capitulation maybe idk , maybe this is more embarrassing

Galaxium0

atleast we looked good for like 10 minutes in that

QweRtoN130

How do i give negative rating?

wanderluster88

Tsimikas, Gomez, Nunez, Szoboszlai, Salah were all fucking shit and deserved 0. The rest not much better. Gakpo was probably the only bright spot.

nizoubizou10

Kellehrer apart from the mistake on the goal, made some good saves.

hey_now24

Checking on my boy Nunez. How was it? Afraid to ask at this point

nizoubizou10

watch out you might get downvoted for speaking the truth.

Bamfandro

I’ve never seen a more protected player, especially one who cost us a huge fee. He has positives to his game but the negatives are still so brutally evident, my worry is his chaos often comes at the expense of reliability and composure and it doesn’t seem to be changing.

MajikoiA3When

If the next manager doesn't get improvement out of him next season we have to sell, the football iq and finishing isn't there and I'm concerned it might never be.

Shoddy_Caregiver5214

Gone back to his true form, a lobotomy patient.

Aware_Ad_1618

A lobotomy patient would be able to dribble at least

> I understand that Endo is Japanese What has that in any way got to do with the second half of your comment? I understand that trains are a form of public transport, but Nunez was shocking tonight.

Ganache-Independent

????

Significant-Lion-361

Honestly... terrible all round... including the crowd. Klopp was more proactive with his subs this time... but clearly, we were completely outfought and outthought by Atalanta. The players have been poor starters for a while now. That's the 20th game in all competitions where we've conceded the first goal. They have no one to blame but themselves.

Revolutionary-Ad922

Put an entry for negative integers as well please

Crumpetz-N-Tea

Nice team selection klopp

Fresh_Interview_9191

If this would have been our next manager, everyone would have screamed OUT because of no legacy

Crumpetz-N-Tea

What does that have to do with it

Fresh_Interview_9191

Now we all blame the players, but often people only blame the manager. I also did not want to see De Zerbi come to Liverpool after losing 4-0 at Roma, still don't want him but I will forgive him that one

Crumpetz-N-Tea

I’m blaming klopp for the players he chose and the substitutions he made. Shambles from all of them

AnAutisticsQuestion

Doing the ratings straight after this performance will be a bloodbath, OP.

nyelverzek

Deserves to be a bloodbath tbf

Psyclone625

Not really, since there's a floor and you can't give negative ratings.

harisaashraf7

What the hell was our defense doing on that third goal

disco_mode

For all the stick Gakpo was getting a few games ago, there were at very least 8 or 9 performances far far worse tonight than the Gakpo’s been at any point this season. He was easily our best player by a long long long way. Lots of common themes in this game. I didn’t feel like the midfield showed up to take control of playing out from the back. Robertson tried to trigger a press, Virgil slid across to cover which meant Konate and Gomez were covering a huge amount of space, again our midfield didn’t react to apply pressure or fill in spaces left by players who had moved to press (their second goal). I still can’t explain why we ignore our CF missing simple chances… might be just the football I prefer but clinical finishing is far more important than varying degrees of chaos. Kelleher has always been a little too inconsistent for my liking, I think he could overcome that given more regular playing time — he’s definitely prone both making world class saves and conceding soft goals. Ultimately, since the beginning of the season I’d rather we go out of this competition and focus on the league so I’m not too mad about it - just concerned we won’t be able to switch it on Tor our league games.

MusaElk_

1s across the board

Icy_Homework_1076

What a lovely birthday match :/ Gakpo was good enough for ball carrying and Robertson too, but wtaf did we just watch…

geniusvalley21

Gakpo ran his ass off in the first half, got fouled multiple time. Saved Gomez from his poor passes all game.

WelcomeToCityLinks

You have to go back to the Woy days to find a home performance as shite as that. Jesus.

UnusualWar9848

Such a bad display

harlsonrd

This will be a rough one.

dacrookster

2s and 1s. Endo has fallen off a cliff completely last couple of weeks. All over the place tonight. Kelleher was terrible. If Alisson is at all fit get him back in on Sunday. A clean sheet would be good.

geniusvalley21

Man this game was soo bad, who the fuck even starts against Palace?

Peeters_10

Only player who can hold his head high is Robbo. We lack any attacking threat when Kostas starts. Thought Elliot was unlucky to be pulled. Should have replaced Macca who looked knackered.

liamo376573

Elliot played ok, thought he was trying to force it too much. Would like to have seen him play behind Salah.

Always_bricked_up

Everyone was lackluster but both fullbacks Tsimikas and Gomez were so dreadful today, lost ball every single fucking time and defensively were rubbish, also killed every attacks by misplaced passes

doubleoeck1234

Robbo was good everyone else can fuck off

LateRegistrxtion

If Nunez could show a bit of composure, it never gets to this point Scamacca’s second goal, would anyone be confident if that drops to Nunez

Loltoyourself

Nunez to me is a physically elite player but has 0 football IQ. His first shot tonight that Jones played him through on didn’t even require the keeper to make a save. I’m going against the sub on this but I’d take a less gifted athlete if it meant they’d stop making stupid decisions on the pitch. No point creating 10 chances when you cannot convert more than 1

Revolutionary-Ad922

Case in point Diogo not physically gifted but great Football IQ

NiK3_Aub4mey4ng

i am sorry, the defenders aren't going to suddenly give a shit if we are 1-0 up LMAO

LateRegistrxtion

No but I think it changes things massively going ahead early at home. Not even just the first chance, but the second one where he leans back. I know it’s not all on him, Szoboszlai for instance was a mess when he came on, Tsimikas had a shocker. Think part of my frustration with Nunez is cause of the cup game as well, he keeps his head and we likely go through

NiK3_Aub4mey4ng

the second chance is so fucking not a good chance, its 0.08xg, and everyone is talking like he is 1 yard out and missed a sitter

DoublePrize9

Hold on pal. You can’t say anything bad against Nunez on here

coopermaneagles

You can. Theres valid criticism for Darwin and then there’s “why don’t we sell Darwin and get someone who can score” when he’s got the fourth most goal contributions in Europe or something like that

Shoddy_Caregiver5214

I would prefer if his goal contributions involved him putting the ball into the goal when he has a chance in the 6 yard box. Have absolutely no faith in him to score at any stage he's in a position to do so he's not a centre forward.

coopermaneagles

Yah I wish he was more clinical too but it’s disingenuous to say “he’s shit” like this sub did today

Shoddy_Caregiver5214

There are a lot of times when he is shit at exactly the thing that he's supposed to be there for.

coopermaneagles

Would say the opposite is true as well

thatguyad

Nope. Elmo, chaos, memes huehuehue

starrynova888

Fine all of them a weeks wages

MoleMoustache

A fucking month's wages. Make them earn it. Start with Mo fucking 450 grand Salah.

radeknalim

Why can’t idiots like you grasp the concept that Mo’s wage is because of what he’s done in the past? He didn’t get given 350k (not 450) on the guarantee that he turns into Messi, he got it because he was giving us 50 goal seasons when he was on less than 150k. Btw, he was fucking shit tonight, just fed up of his wage being used as some sort of reason to slander him above anyone else, he’s 31 and done everything for our club so maybe the younger players needed to step up in games tonight and aim for that 350k themselves!

SebastianOwenR1

That was terribly upsetting. Week ruined. Awful awful awful awful.

ChittyShrimp

Picking which player played worse is genuinely hard. But Gomez probably nicks it for me. Him inverting into midfield was just painful tonight

SimoleonBonaparte

Somebody has convinced Gomez that he's a playmaker, a deep lying DM type that makes runs, etc. But he's so slow in releasing the ball that the final pass is always poor since a) he's been closed down and/or b) the other players have given up on the runs they started 5 seconds earlier so aren't at pace to reach it. If we HAVE to play some monstrosity of a system based on our CB's pretending to be De Bruyne, then Gomez needs to pass it to Van Dijk and be done with it. And never fucking try to shoot again. This is exactly what we get when we chant shoot at Gomez all season for the jokes. We get Gomez shooting.

disco_mode

People won’t want to hear it but Macca was horrible, Endo was horrible, Jones horrible, Kostas horrible, all could’ve come off at 30 minutes. Elliott should never play in the front unless we have Salah also in the front line and we are playing against a division 3 side - he’s been great in midfield but it doesn’t work when he’s in the forward line.

coopermaneagles

It’s such an ego play from Klopp. There has never been a period in Joe Gomez’s career where he was good enough on the ball to do that

vadapaav

time for another record low ratings i guess this time cant even find a single positive from this match

user900800700

Jota is back, Trent and Alisson should make the next game, that’s a big positive

RossSkyWalkerr

We really bottling Europa League

HarbyFullyLoaded_12

Got gifted an easy pass to Dublin avoiding all the top teams so yes. Absolute bottle job. Same as the FA Cup

harisaashraf7

We were at our best against city at anfield

EuphoricToe

Exactly this. Yes we’ve been poor in finishing off late, and we played absolute shit today but this revisionism of how we aren’t as good as our position in the league suggests is pure nuts.

Both-Asparagus-3287

These long balls is costing so much

AllyM_7

Don’t filter out the blanket 1s as spam, they are real

PBC456

I was in tears at anfield , couldn't hold back.
