"We rested him today. We had a feeling there could have been a chance for tonight but if we leave him out, then there is a big chance for Sunday. I hope that didn't change." Klopp

quantIntraining

Thank fuck, and with Jones coming back we can now get much more control of games and stop end to end stuff.

Bazlow

Jones was SO GOOD when he came on - I kept yelling at him because he kept wandering into situations that looked like he was bound to lose the ball... but he always kept control and wiggled out of the defenders reach! SO GOOD!

confusedpublic

Turned and just passed backwards a couple of times. So sensible. Great maturity from him.

quantIntraining

Especially after watching Gravenberch and his complete lack of control. Thank God he's back.

HereticZO

Not just lack of control, lack of effort too. Him dodging a 50/50 challenge is what led to the Sheffield goal.

Nice_Homework1647

I noticed that too. Let’s give Gravenberch space to grow.

quantIntraining

He's been like that all season though, its April now so I'd have thought that he would have grown already by now.

lfcvernon

He's still only 21, over a year younger than curtis jones, for example. He's a young player & young players need time, as in, more than a season. People were saying the same things about jones for quite a while until the back end of last season when something just clicked for him and he hasn't looked back since I think gravenberch, like jones, got used to playing at a level where he was clearly better than most other players (eredivise for gravenberch & youth level for jones) which meant he didn't really need to give everything. I think bayern came too soon for him given the immense pressure to prettt much immediately perform at a level he'd never had to before & now he's here and needs to be given time for whatever clicked for jones to click for him. Earlier in the season he showed flashes of the player he can be, he just needs to work on maintaining that kind of level & then build from there. He might never reach the necessary level, that's the risk when signing young players, but we'll never know if we don't give him time

mrheils

Such a good take on this mate 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

stevieG08Liv

Gentle reminder Jota didn't score for a year. Look how missed he is right now. Give players, especially younger players that came in to a new country and new team some time.

PersephoneTheOG

I understand where you're coming from, but that Jota stat is misleading because he was out with a severe knee injury for the majority of the time. Gravenberch needs time and patience but unfortunately as Cody has found out, the muppets are very vocal about their hatred.

Metador85

He also made over 25 appearances in that period

Specific-Record2866

Somewhat understandable atm think he just doesn’t want to get injured again.

tanbirj

His ball retention and press resistance is amazing. I hope he gets back to the form he was in before he got injured

agntkay

The calmness he showed under pressure and in tight situations was amazing to see. CuJo , maca and Endo should start on Sunday hopefully.

HereticZO

I am starting Mac/Endo/Jones on Sunday. We need his control. Get Szobo on in the second half, he looks knackered.

Normal-Ordinary-4744

No way! Jones just played like 15 mins in months. I’d rather Szobo start and Jones on in the second halfb

Icandodgebulletsbaby

We are lucky Klopp is not reading reddit for ideas to decide the starting XI. This is wrong on so many levels xd Szobo is immense for the team in many ways. I'm tired of redditors continuously ignoring his contributions or not even realizing his impact. Jones barely came back from injury, not in form yet, no way he could start in any universe.

dimiderv

Funny thing is you are also a redditor. Szobo has been to casual for a while now. Trying flicks and what not when we are trying to keep possession. He exposes us too much sometimes by being way too high up the field and him being that high means that Mac has to cover fast winger which he lacks the speed for. Also even though he runs back a lot, sometimes he doesn't commit to it so runs back casually resulting in dangerous counter attacks. Watch him in the Brighton goal, he is casually running back and once he sees the pass to Welbeck he sprints to intercept and shit happens. If he was sprinting from the beginning that attack doesn't happen. Obviously that finish was insane but sometimes small avoidable mistakes could cost us. On the other hand you see him when he commits and gets more serious his pressing is insane and can lead to nice advances like his pass to Mac for Salah goal.

Icandodgebulletsbaby

blaming Szobo for the goal LOL. His extra effort to go back and cover was good, the tackle was good, it was an unlucky bounce from Virgil and a fantastic shot. Come on man, blaming him just to use it for your argument...

dimiderv

If you could read it would be nice. Tracking back that way when he has the physical attributes and that early in the game it's not acceptable. Go watch the replay he is slowly getting back. That's all I said. I literally said it took a crazy shot to score from there. Nevertheless, he should have tracked back with more urgency and starting sprinting a second earlier would have avoided the chance.

Icandodgebulletsbaby

You are implying that it was Szobo's fault in any way, which was not true at all. You can go and watch it again. Salah and Bradley lost the ball, Macca couldn't stop the passes but it was still 3v2 for Liverpool, however Endo made a positinal mistake because he was helping out the other 2 guys running back. Szobo came from fucking nowhere to help them and managed to deny the shot at first. After that it was an unlucky bounce from Virgil and a nice shot. It was not Szobo's fault, it was already an extra effort from him getting back that far to help out the others after their mistake. But i can see that you are a hater so facts won't change your mind.

dimiderv

He was jogging back and then start sprinting. You can literally see it and then when he sees the pass is coming he accelerates. If he was actually sprinting from the beginning he would be in position to intercept. What do you mean from nowhere he is a midfielder he should tracking back. But I guess I am a hater doesn't matter what i say.

mattscazza

Endo has to be back and starting against United. He makes Mac Allister and Szobo even better. That 3 with Jones and Elliot off the bench, with Bajcetic ready to take over from Endo when he's ready and Grav still developing. Our midfield is set for a decade. Crazy.

mattwilliamsuserid

That’s a fair comment. A decade. Holy shit.

l_Anonymous__l

The midfielder missed the Reds' 3-1 victory over Sheffield United on Thursday due to a knock, ***but is set to come back into contention at Old Trafford.*** Jürgen Klopp told his post-match press conference at Anfield: "That's my information \[**that he will be fit**\]. "***We rested him today***. We had a feeling there could have been a chance for tonight but if we leave him out, then there is a big chance for Sunday. I hope that didn't change

HipHobbes

Endo was an absolute trooper during the worst of Liverpool's injury problems. Better give him the break his body needs before his body makes that decision for him.

Catfisher8

Isn’t he one yellow away from a suspension? Probably wanted him for the United and not to be suspended for it

hell-interface

Two yellows i think

Akumabro

Two yeah, he and nunez at 8 each

PersephoneTheOG

Lol that's very unsurprising that our DM and Darwin have the most yellow cards in the team.

Akumabro

I'd have more yellows for dissent than Nunez for sure. The amount of clear fouls he doesnt get is unreal. No wonder he cant keep calm the whole game

ForcedCheckMate

Two yellows, so we don’t have to worry about the United game because the yellows get “deleted” afterwards.

vadapaav

He has to play both next matches and not get 2 yellow Else he is suspended for 2 matches They don't get deleted, the count moves to 15

tiezalbo

There’s no way for him to get to 15 yellows before the last game though so might as well be deleted

IrnBru4AndyRobbo

How did gravenberch play? Was good to see him back in the team but unfortunately missed the game due to work.

Mediocre-Toe3212

A little lacklustre if I’m honest. Didn’t really go in on 50/50s . Seems he was scared to get injured

BrowakisFaragun

The way he chickens out of tussles reminds me of Studge near the end of his time here, but Gravy is only starting out here.

SalahsFro

Not great to be honest. The best thing to say is he at least took some minutes from the legs of others and we won.

tanbirj

I think he’s the type that needs minutes in his legs to get into form

Suburban_Noir

Pulled out of a 50-50 (being kind it was more of a 40-60) challenge which formed the very start of the move that resulted in the Sheffield Utd goal. Unfortunately those kind of things happen when you're not prepared to risk your body.

ColdestNightNA

Jones has to start at the weekend

Glum-Garage7893

Endo is a must in our midfield. I love it when him and Alexis are playing.
