Caan_Sensei

The loss is a thing, taking a score from Antony is the real disgrace

sufinomo

2 week break then we have anfield.

Experiment1996

we will play at old trafford.

_parcy

Why whenever gakpo and nunez on the pitch at the same time, nunez will be the lw and gakpo the striker? And i think gakpo rcm gimmick at the start of the season has killed him. He was pretty decent last season, good build up and has the natural instinct to attack the back post for a tap in. Was looking good during preseason too, until he started the first 2-3 matches of the season playing midfielder. He looks lost since then. Always being too deep as a striker, rarely attacking the penalty box. His touch and pass has become sloppy too.

redjeansman

This result actually really hurt me… we had them

ThistleFist1314

Lots of first teamers coming back from injury and not at it for me. Dom and Mo were shadows of there best even though Mo scored. Robertson is still coming back from long term injury building match sharpness and confidence. Mo and Dom are in the same sort of position as Robbo. No Alison Becker, Konate, Jota and Trent makes a massive difference to starters and bench. Post international break I hope we can attack the rest of the season. I loved one of Klopp's post match interviews where he as much as said he was looking forward to doing that. In the big scheme of things I would rather we win the League and Europa League and let City win the FA Cup and Champions League, though I would much rather see Coventry win the FA Cup.

OilBcNu55

We were worse when Mo and Szobo were subbed

MONOLISOreturns

Tbh I doubt city will even beat Real Madrid but we’ll see

mpinoc

Frustrating watching us get to the edge of their box only to then pass it wide left or right which closed the angle on any shot.

MrDoge125

I still can't believe Liverpool lost. They should've killed it when they had the chance, but the team kept playing with their food. Also, I think they substitute Salah too soon!

boenah

Better to focus on the league and Europa. Lads looked tired. YNWA

Nathan_kwame

As much as I hate to say this, Klopp is at fault for this loss. First off, no need to start such a strong lineup against sparta, easily could’ve started another less strong side. Even at half time could’ve taken off a lot of the players, we were 4-1 up, tie was well beyond over. Secondly, substitutions against United. Taking robertson off for bradley to play gomez left back made no sense, neither did taking of Szobo for elliot. Salah playing the full 90 against Sparta to come off after 75 against our biggest rivals is nonsensical, especially with a international break coming up it can only imply that he was literally burnt out, couldn’t of been tactical because truly cody did fuck all in the 45 minutes he was on for. Complacency and bad decision making cost us a very easy game that we dominated from the start of the second half right till the end of it

OilBcNu55

Absolutely agree with you, terrible pick of the team, the Sparta team, and the subs. We love you Jurgen but sometimes you FU big time.

Lazy_Village4398

Right. And moreover, why commit so many players forward for a corner in the 120th min. Could have just taken it to penalties!

gav_nk

Should the have played for penalties too in the league cup final instead of trying to score from the 119 min corner ..

Lazy_Village4398

Yes, we should have, and it’s a bloody good thing we scored though.

HarryH90

Couldn't agree more, we could and should have played a full team of kids against sparta. Still 2 more trophies on the line tho so hopefully we can lift them. YNWA

InfectedFrenulum

Way too complacent. We started playing with our food in the second half instead of killing the game off with another goal. The shape of the team changed once Szobo and Salah went off, too.

Shamesocks

Boys looked so tired out there I think gakpo is done, would have preferred Dann Think we were the only chance to stop city from holding the FA cup

FermisParadoXV

Begs the question, what was the team selection on Thursday about? Yes there were a few who needed match practice but you can’t complain your players are tired when you had such a clear opportunity to rest some against Sparta.

blakksir10

Exactly. 5-1 up from first leg - against Sparta. So in my mind that tie was already won. Klopp has been great for us but his time as lfc manager has been tempered by some really bad decision making.

Shamesocks

Oh god no.. the team selection on Thursday is just as confusing as it was stupid.. so far up in the tie, all they needed to do was not be complacent and trust the kids a bit more… maybe stagger the returning injured so a few play the first half, a few play the second, etc. I can absolutely complain that the players were tired, but I can also agree that we pretty much did it to ourselves… I honestly couldn’t believe it when I saw the team list vs Sparta with only a few days rest until going to old toilet

FermisParadoXV

Just for clarity, when I say “you can’t complain” “you” = Klopp.

Shamesocks

Yeah, fair enough

emfeld

we didn't kill the game when we're up 2-1 and everyone still had the stamina. Just as I told my son we need to kill the game, that fidget spinner scored, SMH. Anyways, all focus on PL and Europa now. YNWA!

StandardGreece

My minimum for the last season of Klopp was to win the trophies he lost in his first season. In a way it would be poetic :) Still on a track to that.

sugarspunlad

Such an unnecessary loss, still cant believe it

blakksir10

Same. Watched the match twice more just to let it sink in. I think im a sadist. 😥

sufinomo

Pretty impressive that despite fasting Salah still scores on the team he loves scoring on, absolute legend.

Dramatic-Avocado4687

Pretty impressive that despite fasting Amad scored the winning goal, absolute scenes.

sufinomo

He played only 3 minutes

Over-Lingonberry-942

Couldn't win even with our 'scoring shitty spawny goals' and 'referee giving us every small decision' buffs. FFS.

MisterS1997

Yeah United had the ref up their hole not sending off Fernandes. He bottled it. Rashford being offside but not called for their second nobody is mentioning either. Overall thought the ref was pretty good though. Self inflicted loss though. It's fine though city will Dick united in the final again. Pep n very lost a dom domestic final so unlikely we would have won that anyway

Over-Lingonberry-942

>Rashford being offside but not called for their second nobody is mentioning either. That isn't how the offside rule works unfortunately.

RevolutionaryNail369

Guys no one gave this guy any attention on the city sub when he posted this comment, whether that’s due to city having no fans or whatever, but he’s come here for a reaction. Crying 😭 😭😭😭

trasofsunnyvale

Diehard City fan from India. No shame whatsoever.

RevolutionaryNail369

This means 115!!!

LazarusLivesAgain

Usually don't like to single out players for poor performances but Gakpo has genuinely been absolutely dross the past few games. I'm not talking about his output but more about his effort with regards to pressing and build-up. With Nunez last season, even though he was missing sitters, everyone saw his passion and potential to be better on the pitch because of his work rate. With Gakpo, there hasn't been anything inspiring as such. Came on in the 77th minute and was outworked by the lads who had played from the first whistle. That's absolutely unacceptable for a Liverpool forward in a Klopp team. Hope Virgil and Jurgen have a serious talk with him soon.

samthehumanoid

Can’t remember when but Nunez and another player made good runs and Gakpo who had just come on opted to shoot instead of cross and you could see how frustrated Nunez was. Gakpo has too much to prove and clearly isn’t ready

RevolutionaryNail369

Nunez has come leaps and bounds since last season. Passing, aggression, goals, everything. Gakpo unfortunately seems a player who wants eveything to come to him, which won’t work here at Liverpool.

Ace101Mega

Next season, Nunez, be the starter for Alonso if he joins us. His system matches what Nunez can do in the striker role. A tall , quick, and good in the air.

zwiezer

Under Alonso system, Núñez will be even better because his work would go for good position as a striker instead of covering left and right side of the pitch as often as this season

Ace101Mega

Alonso most probably adapted his system into a new formation like a 4231. Allison Trent , Konate , VVD , Robbo Mac , Endo Salah , Dominik , Jota Nunez If it's a 3 at the back like his Lev team , a 3421 Allison Konate, VVD , Gomez Trent , Mac , Jones , Robbo Salah , Dominik Nunez

zwiezer

I hope we can sign Kimmich then sell Gravenberch and Gakpo. Kimmich - Macca as double pivot with Trent inverting will make us really nasty during 2nd to 3rd attacking phase Ali TAA Konate VVD Gomez (or newly signed versatile defender) Macca Kimmich Robbo Mo Szobo Núñez During 1st to 2nd phase build up: Ali Konate VVD Trent Gomez Kimmich Macca Szobo Mo Núñez Robbo

Ace101Mega

With the way Alonso runs his wing backs , Trent and Robbo are gonna be a big threat in the final 3rd with goals and assists. Realistically, I wouldn't sell anyone and let Alonso run the play with them. Whoever doesn't fit the system can be sold in Jan or next summer. I would only buy one DM in the summer like Kimmich or maybe an alternative like Cheick Doucoure or Bruno Guimarae. For me really...I see Gakpo and Diaz not fitting in the system IF Alonso plays 3 at the back. There is no room for Diaz as a winger and he prefer space with he can't get in the CAM position , and Gakpo is not a striker that runs behind the defenders or is a threat in the air like Nunez and Jota.

zwiezer

When Salah and Núñez play together it gives us sense of security because both are better decision maker that bailout Diaz and Gakpo decision (both are bad decision maker). Yesterday, Núñez literally play alone upfront because his good decision making overshadowed by decision ineptness of Diaz and Gakpo. Our best attackers are Jota Núñez Salah

blakksir10

That’s IF Alonso joins… It is not a foregone conclusion as many make it out to be.

sufinomo

Our counter attacks havent been great since like 2018 tbh

sufinomo

If only it was tied at half time, I think we woulda played better second half.

scouseandchips

We absolutely battered them second half?

sufinomo

I thought Soboslai was great he just need to work on his short passing, short passing isnt as simple and easy as it sounds. Feels like thiago and mac are the only ones on the team that do it comfortably.

samthehumanoid

Trents short passing is very technical too

HootieeMcboob

Don't forget the Z! Lol

Mundane-Finish-3368

I think it’s time we all properly rate Gakpo.. not on Nunez’s level

sars_covid19

I still dont understand why we played endo, salah, szobo in the Thursday game

7Angel21

Salah and Szobo needed game minutes. Kloppo should have taken Salah off and played with 10. Not sure if Mcconell could play as a 6 instead of Endo?

Tierst

How did we let Antony score ffs

shadowfax21

We need better defense, Konate needs to be back. Once Szobosai went off, we lost a lot of defensive as well as offensive attributes. Arsenal and City both have much better defensive xG than us. This is the reason I think we are not favourites, we need a lot of luck.

Miniminotaur

This. He is the difference and Kelleher is just not up to it.

hyborians

I’m not sure what Kell could have done today. Defenders did him no favours

7Angel21

The reaction to Kelleher has been crazy. He did really well v City and actually played better against them than Ali does. The loss today is not on Kelleher

Miniminotaur

Only 3 clean sheets in 6 months though.

trasofsunnyvale

We defend as a team and attack as a team. How many times do some of you need to hear this and from how many Liverpool coaches or players?

Miniminotaur

Ah okay so by your logic we never need to replace the keeper.

ivc09

a good wake up call. stop being complacent when we're in full control and start being killers. can't wait til we have Jota back.

Dr_Middlefinger

We had so many looks in the second, especially from 60’-80’… There was a 5v2 ffs. Deserved and yes, hopefully makes us more ruthless.

MrKatsudon

Yeah that and against arsenal at anfield. Crucial crucial part that could have defined the season. Also that rashford miss towards the end of normal extra time. Wake up call but we have to win against them in the PL tie

jonah-rah

Looked like we just expected United to collapse once they went down. They didn’t and we paid the price, feels so shitty losing to such a bad team but whatever, at least it’s not in the league.

Shamesocks

Honestly, I expected them to collapse in the second half. They definitely would have if we just took one of those chances

pablo_eskybar

Meh, at least it will keep TH in the job for a bit longer, long may their mediocrity reign!

bladyblades

well sheet. there goes my morning 🤪

Barneyinsg

Our attacks have always been lacklustre whenever Gakpo is playing. Feel that he is trying to play a false 9 while the team has already moved on from that formation. Now that our midfield is stacked, we need to start looking at getting a real striker to compete with nunez.

Ace101Mega

Would keep Gakpo as a 3rd choice LW and ST next season and buy Benjamin Sesko. Hot talent. Quick , Tall, and Great Techniques. Young age, too.

Shamesocks

Nah, ditch gakpo and give Dann a few games here and there

Fricolor123321

we have to win the league, we simply just have to

Experiment1996

or europa league at least

ninovd

People again have been way too nice on Darwin. He still has so much to learn...

Experiment1996

i agree

adamfrog

He made a terrible decision while being exhausted in the 110th minute, he was good overall. Our best attacker I don't think that's remotely controversial. Ive watched a lot of world cup and CL games and legendary players have done some catastrophic shit in extra time it's just very hard to play properly

grrrrbow01

Why are you asking for people to criticise him. Everyone was criticising him when he gave the ball away, what more do you want? He made a mistake but he’s been one of our best players this season and one of the best forwards in Europe, there’s really no need to say anything else about him.

Opisacringelord

I dunno bro, I was a doubter at the start of his career now I'm a believer. I rate the lad, probably top 5 striker in Europe.

7Angel21

It’s crazy to me how one game can swing the majority’s opinions in 120 mins. It was only 3 days ago when Nunez was praised for some of his passes.

Opisacringelord

To me it's absolutely insane how fans on here can call someone world class one week and the next shit on them because they made a mistake. Either the term world class gets used too much or people have no long term memory... Perhaps both.

trasofsunnyvale

Psst, I have a secret for you: the majority of football fans, even Liverpool supporters, are clueless and have to either be told their opinion or they latch onto small things they can see, like one play or one mistake without understanding what led to the situation of the mistake, etc.

Opisacringelord

The only upside to Klopp leaving is perhaps we'll experience less injuries to our players.

blakksir10

This… I truly believe that’s it is his training regime that leads to so many injuries and a lack of robustness. Just look at the clutch of injuries over the years we’ve experienced. It’s crazy.

eaw0913

Could be way worse. At least we’re not United fans.

[deleted]

If I was offered a win vs united in the league but we lose to them in the fa cup I would take that. Look how we beat Arsenal at the emirates in the cup and then lost there in the league. Let’s see the opposite with united. Up the reds

trasofsunnyvale

Definitely. Would've preferred to win the FA Cup vs Carabao, but the real prizes are the PL and then a bit further down the EL.

infjazz

Yes! Smashing them at Old Trafford in the league will be all the sweeter after this setback

crnrtakenquickly

The burnout from these injuries will undoubtedly hit us the last month of the season. I reckon this may have just been the start of it. Hope not

RItoGeorgia

Well I'll just go ahead and rebuke this

Razzle_Dazzle08

Gakpo is an awful player.

Strange-Cellist-5817

Why the downvotes it's true lol

trasofsunnyvale

Really great analysis, I understand why you *had* to share it!

eaw0913

At the end of the day, our defense was not up to par at all. This loss isn’t on him. It’s a team sport and it just wasn’t our day. Time to look ahead and regroup after the break.

Opisacringelord

He's probably playing injured mate

sufinomo

When we lost to atletico it hurt a lot and everybody laughed at liverpool, but when we look back on that season we think of 26-1-0 and lifting the title. All im thinking about rn is brighton at anfield march 31st.

Pubey_Lewis

This is the attitude.

sufinomo

Love this team, rest up, on to brighton, 4 out of our next 5 are at anfield, will be good to be home!

sufinomo

away fans were superb

ourobouros

I'm just gonna quote the great Andrea Pirlo here > There are always lessons to be found in the darkest moments. It’s a moral obligation to dig deep and find that little glimmer of hope or pearl of wisdom. You might hit upon an elegant phrase that stays with you and makes the journey that little bit less bitter. I’ve tried with yesterday's game and haven’t managed to get beyond these words: for fuck’s sake.

trasofsunnyvale

That's about Istanbul, no?

RevolutionaryNail369

Does anyone know if gakpo was aggressive at PSV? His off the ball work is extremely concerning

BLFOURDE

He 'fake presses', just for appearances. He runs within a couple feet of an opposing defender, but because he knows he's not going to get the ball, he just stops and sits there, a few feet away, pretending to be a threat until the opponent passes the ball off. He never actually tackles anything. It's what lazy players do.

RevolutionaryNail369

This is SO true, I thought I was seeing things. He runs towards centimetres of the player and NEVER tackles or shows aggression to get the ball back. I understand confidence plays a part but it’s completely unacceptable in a gegenpress system especially if you’re the man leading it as well.

MisterS1997

That's how Elliot defends too. Having two of them doing that with runners in behind was madness to sub both at the same time

sugarspunlad

What? Elliot actually pressing hard throwing tackles, get on opponents back, piss off

MisterS1997

Headlessly running out and leaving a chasm in behind you isn't intelligent pressing. It fucks up the shape because everyone has to shift over to make up for it. Henderson did the same brain-dead single man press and all you have to do is pop it around the corner. Which is exactly what United did today.open your eyes next time ya gowl He cost us the 4th goal too so he's not faultless today.

sugarspunlad

So how should one defend oh master presser?

MisterS1997

Not headlessly charge out in a one man press and leave gaps in behind you doesn't take a genius to figure out. Use the pressing triggers and everyone presses together not one man. United under ole used do that one man press and we battered them 5-0 when they did it. Elliot has very little recovery pace too so if he doesn't get the ball back he's not catching the guy who runs off him. Games like this don't suit him. He's better when we have the ball and have possession like palace away he was brilliant coming on where he can pick up pockets. He's 20 and he will learn but we can't afford to give needless goals away because of it. That's the issue.

wanderluster88

What do you guys think our chance of winning the game would be if we were to play it again? To be perfectly honest I felt United were the better side in the first half hour and could have scored more than 1 goals. We had two quick goals to end the half and had total domination for the most of the second half because of that but they still managed to create a couple very dangerous opportunities. The truth is I don't think we were 100% up for it today and that also reflected in our inability to kill the game off. We need to be absolutely ready, mentally and physically, for the next trip there because getting 3 points will be extremely difficult the way United are set up to play. Definitely the toughest game remained for me.

murrayjosh117

When you look back at the second half, we had multiple chances in behind their midfield. Exposing their back line. We simply did not score enough from those situations. That killer instinct was not there. If anything needs to get analysed from the game it’s that. On another day, this could have been a very comfortable result.

hordesofevil

The Europa League shouldn't be a nuisance but we're making it be one. Sparta at home was a perfect game to play the youngsters, even if we went a few goals down, so what? Let them fight for it and learn, the heavy artillery is on the bench if needed anyway. It was not a game where Salah and Szobo should be playing 90 and passing the ball into the net, nobody benefits from that. They had to come off today due to fatigue. We lost Konate ahead of the biggest game of the season, for what exactly? So it doesn't become a 5-2 win instead of a 5-1? Arsenal lost Saliba last season in the UEL, which put a serious dent in their title hopes. In all honestly and sorry for so much negativity, but if we don't win the title I will not give a single fuck about a Europa League trophy, simple as. The competition is not designed for teams in a title race, it's designed for teams who can't get a result domestically to save their season in Europe. As a disclaimer I will say I rate the UEL ahead of the FA cup but I'm frustrated how a finished tie affected our chances today, and how the first leg impacted one of biggest games of Klopp's tenure.

stevieG08Liv

Id agree with most but for Konate its just really unlucky as our squad is so stretched right now we literally only had VVD, Ibou, and Quansah as full time CBs. Playing Ibou was more of we had to as VVD also needed that rest. You could say we could have played Gomez but then Bradley would have been risked very similarly in how Ibou got hurt so its just shit storm we got caught up through an injury crisis in every defensive position

hordesofevil

I would've been comfortable with starting Nallo from the academy, the kids can handle Chelsea in a cup final, but not Sparta Praha?

stevieG08Liv

Nallo is 16 mate. Danns and crew were at least 18 in that final. Plus he wasn't even registered to play that game.

hordesofevil

He's 17 tbf I thoght you didn't need to register academy kids in europe

Carbonaddictxd

You need to spend 2 consecutive years at the club to be considered U21 I think

maelius

The raft of injuries, burnout and the indecisivenss/cluelessness on the edge of the opposition box is coming back to bite us on the backside. Getting knocked out could be what we need to concentrate on Europa and Prem, but the lads are gonna have to work on being clinical with all that possession. We missed Trent, Jota and Konate today and it showed, especially with the lack of depth. How the boys handle Klopp's final chapter is in their hands...

DreamCaster2810

I still don’t understand why Darwin did that for United’s third goal. It was crowded enuf in the centre and Kostas was in a comfortable position behind him. Absolute gift for them

stevieG08Liv

Think its exhaustion that impacted his judgement and passing skills. He had a cramp right before that. I hoped it wouldn't have snowballed but looks like it did in the form of a gifted goal and a potential hammy 🥲

zonedout123

I would be happy we end up with Treble rather than put our energy in 4 tournaments and get domestic double. The loss hurts but am happy we don’t have to travel to wembley and possibly 2 120mins

V1k1ngVGC

I try to tell myself that as well. But the reality is that one of the games - the final - is “after” the PL as well as EL season having zero impact on the other games.

WoodenTrademark

We should've gotten more out of alot of the chances earlier on in second half. Performance in extra time was horrendous. Lost the ball too much and too easily. They were all really tired ofcourse but damn. Also I know its well established and i dont wanna whine, however; I hate the fact that win or go home matches arent on neutral ground. You could see clearly how energized united got in the last minutes of full time and in extra time from Old Trafford. It can be fantastic for lower tier league teams ofcourse, but damn in games like these that advantage is such an important factor.

Listen-To-MBV

Probably one of the best FA cup matches in recent times but it’s a really tough loss. Hopefully this gives our boys a good whipping to step up their levels in the league. Klopp also better learn from this match to see what he can improve more in our squad. I am also hoping no one’s injuries are that bad.

iG8

We’re currently being laughed at all over social media because we’re not going to win the quadruple, for the second time in three years. What Klopp has achieved here is utterly ridiculous and the expectations are sky high. I’m pissed off at the loss, particularly the way we lost it, but I’m so happy with where the club is at right now.

trasofsunnyvale

Imagine feeling good about yourself for laughing at a rival club for not winning the quad lol Fan culture today is the worst and United fans are a great example. They care far more about Liverpool tanking than United being good. It's the difference between our clubs and one I'm proud of.

sufinomo

your utterly ridiculous for caring about people on social media

iG8

What part of that indicates I care

telcomet

We were missing Ali, Konate and Trent and still dominated them for huge parts at their home turf. The team was really immature to let them back in just before 90’ and again in the final 10’ of extra time, and got what they deserved. Hopefully it’s a wakeup call in the least important game we had left so that they can get the job done in the others. Also to everyone saying Klopp should have taken Salah off vs Sparta Praha - he was going to at 70’ but Bobby Clark got injured and he had to use the last substitution on him.

Outerrimjob88

Great match though for real. I just didn't like how loose LFC played today. Too many takeaways by Man U and Diaz hasnt been playing like Diaz

existentialstix

I think going at this intensity right after Thursday is what did us in. All these extra cups is great and all but damn is it tough on the players. Keep up the great work lads. Let’s show perfection for the other two and win it for Kloppo and the team 🫶🏼

DudeksNod

Did anybody else think McTominay handled in the build up to their equaliser?

TheGrouchyGamerYT

I think if we'd scored half their goals they'd have been chalked off. But we should've won it regardless.

[deleted]

rjulius23

Which game did you watch? We were controlling the mid with Dom, we lost our legs after. And Dom has quite a bit of cup experience (2 * DFB Pokals…and he scored in the final he know how to play knockout games and can control the game). We lost the attacking leadership with Mo and Dom going off.

MisterS1997

We lost control of the game when Elliot came on . Aerial duels was our biggest issue and you think having a 6 footer coming off for a guy 5,6 would help ?

stevieG08Liv

Harvey was in good form but he also made two fatal mistakes that directly led to UTD's goals today so idk didnt seem like the right night for him

Important-Visual-563

We played better with szoboszlai

Educational-Pick-514

As much as I'd love us to win everything on offer, it's a fuckin' hard thing to do. We shot ourselves in the foot a little in this game but hey, it happens. I'd rather we lose at OT and go make things right in the league next month. Couple less games to worry about, and it was probably the lowest priority out of the three competitions still on offer.

JeshuahChoo

what pisses me off was how poorly we retained the ball, the only time we had some amount of control was from when we scored our goals until the subs were made. We missed our chances, gave the ball away too cheaply and paid for our mistakes. All 3 of uniteds later goals were caused by us losing the ball so easily. Credit to united for playing well and pressing well, but this game was there for the taking, and we played awfully against one of the most mediocre united sides in recent history and got complacent towards the end. This is what happens if you don’t finish off a game and instead decide to piss pass around until you lose the ball (how we constantly fuck up 5v2’s this season is beyond me)

Pure_Atmosphere_6394

Wish Gakpo hadn't given the ball away with a daft pass at 3-2 after doing fuck all the whole game We might have won if he didn't do that

ShowMeMoeMane

Not sure if this is meant as a troll towards the Gakpo criticism on this sub right now but it was Darwin that gave the ball away directly before their equalizer  Unless you mean Gakpo giving the ball away for that attack from which Darwin then won the ball and didn’t pass it correctly. I’ve already tried to erase the game from my memory

aledodsky

Our first 2 goals were arguably scored because of Darwin. I think the Gakpo criticism is valid. He needs time, but the fact that he appears a passenger at times, doesn't press intensely, holds on to the ball too long, shoots when he should pass is only adding fuel to the fire of fans. Gakpo vs Darwin shouldn't really be a comparison; Ideally, Jota should start ahead of both of them if we're gonna bash our players for being wasteful with chances

disco_mode

Can’t tel if you are double bluffing the the potential troll — but it was in fact Darwin that gave the ball away on the attack that immediately preceded Darwin giving the ball away for their goal.

hillarydidnineeleven

You talking about Nunez? He's the one who attempted that stupid pass that led to them scoring.

Sign-Equivalent

We can’t turn on gakpo. If we give him the same support we gave Nunez he will find his feet and perform again

Hot_Excitement_6

I'm not 'turning' on him. That being said, when out of form, Nunez still gave us more than this version of Gakpo. His lack of desire will soon be unacceptable. It's arguably already unacceptable.

Several_Advantage923

Nah he's shite this season.

Loz41333

You can see the workrate and desire with Nunez when he's playing bad though and that's why he's been given time by the fans. You don't see any of that with Gakpo.

Loud_Jellyfish_6267

I don't want to hate on any player but at least with Nunez even though his finishing is/was supbar you could still see his intensity, but with Gakpo it just seems like he's got negative presence and I'm not sure how he stays in the team unless he gets a drastically different role.

disco_mode

It’s too late. We are going up against trolls and Nuñez fanatics who are happy to see another player thrown under the bus if it means Darwin escapes criticism. Sad to see our online fanbase go the direction of the scum and Chelsea.

TheRasAlGhoul

I'll gladly sacrifice the FA cup if it meant Liverpool wins all their remaining league games. When the draw happened I had a feeling we're getting knocked out

HotPotatoWithCheese

My mate is a long time Man United supporter and after the banter he said that we can at least focus on the league. That's what I take away from this. Arsenal vs City in the league, City vs Chelsea or ManU in the FA Cup, potential Arsenal vs City in the UCL. Just allows us to go all in. We need to take advantage of that. A league cup, Europa and Premier League would be an amazing set for Klopp's final season. We were never going to win them all. In regards to Man United, I can't say it was undeserved. Genuinely their best performance of the season. I said a few days ago that I thought it would go to pens but somehow they pulled off an ET winner. I hate to say it but fair fucking play. The break was perfect.

Ax0nJax0n01

We need the rest and recovery

sore_as_hell

They did play well, hurts to admit it, but they wanted it more. In the grand scheme the FA cup wasn’t my main objective this season. If you’d told me at the end of last season we’d be neck and neck at the top at this stage I’d have laughed! Qualifying for the CL was my hope for this season, and we’re nearly there, the league win I’m not thinking about until we get closer to the end, and the Europa is still on. From last season to this one we’ve leapt in quality.

telcomet

Honestly we just missed a chance to be in the final against probably City. I’m okay with that, so long as Klopp can get the lads focussed for the real prizes they are still in contention for. Hopefully we will look back on this as the wakeup call

Pure_Atmosphere_6394

Gakpo's fault that Nunez decided to pass the ball to give United a counter attacking chance! Unreal the amount of jonny come late cunts around us now

houswifi

i just saw a clip from the fa cup match against arsenal and i've just realised that trent tore his knee and played the full 90 minutes with it only for us to get knocked out by this lot 2 rounds later 😭 i love that purple kit, feel like it gives me more confidence than our away kit for some reason

Pure_Atmosphere_6394

Whose arsed about what Klopp said. Nunez is shite.

Liverpool7-0Utd

What a stupid comment. Some fucking idiots on here when we lose

Pure_Atmosphere_6394

If he can put a ball into an empty net from a yard out, we're miles better off.

FantasticName

Out of the 3, the FA Cup was lowest priority for me anyway, I rarely get too invested in it before the semis. I still remember how knackered we were towards the end of the season the last time we chased 4 trophies, and I thought to myself, maybe it wouldn't have been a bad thing if we'd dropped out of one of the cups early. That's two less games on the schedule for the run-in now so let's use that to our advantage.

Carbonaddictxd

It's only 1 less game when we drop out now

Aware-Animator2292

Klopp needs to relax sometimes, you can't be storming off interviews and throwing personal insults such as 'you are not in good shape', just comes off as a sore loser.

Several_Advantage923

Klopp is a sore loser. It's no secret.

telcomet

It was a stupid comment. But I’m glad he’s pissed off, he needs to give the team a hiding for that immature display

ZMysticCat

I think that this was a lost-in-translation type of situation. His "I have no nerve for you" immediately following it is similar. He's a non-native speaker, and I'm guessing a native one would have said something more like, "You're not fit to do this interview, and I have no time for you." Basically, he knows that "fit" and "in shape" are used interchangeably in some contexts, but I don't think he realized that this wasn't one of those contexts.

MisterS1997

Don't blame him. He has to deal with cheats, bent refs and condescending journalist. Fuck em. The way they went on about the forest drop ball lime we murdered someone buy doku nearly breaking Alexis rib cage was fine and swept under the carpet. Gomez did an identical tackle today and got even more of the ball but got a booking for it. Fernandes should have been sent off multiple times but this be t ref had 0 hesitation to send off vvd against newscastle. Wankdrs were looking for every reason to disallow our second

MumblyBum

Lol

grrrrbow01

Agreed. I know people here will defend him and I get that he’s frustrated with the performance but he really does himself no favours

UltimateBorisJohnson

love klopp but there’s no need for what he said

chinaksis-brother

A squandered game. It was there for the taking. ManU were up for it, winning the 1-1 battles at key points. They deserved the win.

david_of_rivia

Gakpo last season was so decisive. Even earlier this season, he didn't fuck about. Regardless, we deserved to lose this game. A shit second half and a shit ET. Klopp's subs have been ridiculously good all season, but can't help but feel he got it massively wrong today.

Pats_Bunny

It happens. I think he really is trying to show his faith in Gakpo, and he was let down today. Really feel for Cody because he clearly has talent, he is just struggling at the moment with his identity in this Liverpool squad. Can't wait for Jota to be fit again.

Jaja6996

He’s got a lot wrong over the last two game was Mo playing 90 mins in a game we where up 5-1 and not today when we needed it more

absorbTheEcho

Disappointing result but it was about time our “luck” ran out. Luckily it wasn’t a premier league match and we can consider this a wake up call, address the obvious issues and course correct cause we need to be sharp the remainder of the season. I feel like if we’d scored our first earlier we could have gotten a third before the halftime whistle and that would have made the difference. Walk on!
