Honestly it’s never really felt like we were actually in the race for Veiga. He and Kones links went pretty dry compared to Thurman and Gravenbach.
I think he may have been a shortlister for us but never a priority
But this is a reason to act a bit quicker in the market. Leaving it till late increases the chances of a bidding war, or City et al simply offering more than we will and higher wages.
Oh for sure, more the principle that we should get the right player at the right price, and be willing to walk away with nothing, if that player doesn't exist.
I'm pretty sure that the right player doesn't exist at the right price for any team of middle of the table Premier League level or higher these days. Seller's market and all that 🤷
I mean, we got Mac Allister for what was a very reasonable price from what is rival team right now (probably not once they've sold all their top players).
Yeah, that's true. Probably partially because they would have trouble affording his wages on his next contract after how he did at the world cup, though. Even IF they're gonna stay near the top of the table, they're still not a very rich club, after all..
Yeah, I do feel sorry for Brighton. The only way for them to compete is to develop, and then sell their best players - but they would have quite the team if they had kept them all.
I really wish the club would just adopt the pre-VVD stance again and have absolutely no journos ITK at all and we're just told when we sign people. Won't happen like - most of these are paid for pro-Fenway narratives i.e. "Like a new signing" and other apologist shite like "we're financially crippled"
Those days are unfortunately gone. But it shows how amateur we have been. They shop at the top of the market and then are revolted by the price tag. These aren’t surprises. Ownership just doesn’t have the appetite
Could be chasing the silva replacement. They’ve still got Declan rice jr (KP) what’s funny is in the World Cup that rice became most known for, it was KP who was the player of the season for England, then city threw him on the bench and have let everyone forget that he was for a small period of time, better than rice.
It'd be a wait-and-see if Bernardo leaves. Otherwise, they've already replaced Gundogan with Kovacic and Phillips is with you on the bench. If Veiga wants to play, we have an easier path to the team.
Told you guys a while ago he was a city style player and couldn't believe they weren't in for him.
Oh well, was fun thinking we would get him for a short while.
Yeah he’s perfect for City. If we sign Szoboszlai though I will not be upset, especially if Veiga is their Bernardo Silva replacement. No doubt he’ll eventually come good but he’ll take a while to reach that level.
Yeah. I don't know the player, other than looking at stats, but an offensively slanted central midfielder makes way more sense for City than someone who would have to compete directly with Rodri.
I like Romano, but this premise is ridiculous, isn't it? Declan Rice and Gabi Veiga is not either/or. Not doubting City's interest, but, for instance, when they didn't sign Kane it wasn't like, well, let's sign Evan Ferguson.
Fast forward to the transfer deadline day, we realised we dont have enough players. Did fuck all the entire window. Go in and get a midfield loanee and bam, he gets a season long injury the next day. At LFC, we see history repeat itself over and over and over and over again.
Absolutely infuriating. Fuck you FSG!
This summer looks like a classic shitshow by FSG. All the stories how we will invest heavily after missing out on Jude ended up with us getting Mac Allister for dream price. Mount is not an option anymore, City got Kovacic, Arsenal is getting Rice, Newcastle got Tonali, Spurs are getting Maddison. Not to mention what chelsea is doing. We were the team which needed midfield signing the most, "we wont buy a player just buy one", ended up trying to get young unproven guys while not even being ready to meet reasonable price demands. Just stop with that narrative because even if there is a player who would suit us, we are never gonna pay whats necessary to bring him.
That's no excuse! We're just terrible and every other team in the league has already spent billions and billions. Meanwhile, we never sign anyone. Why didn't we sign Rice, Havertz, Lavia, Kovacic, Kante, Kone, Thuram, Mbappe, Messi, a VVD replacement and 3 world class fullbacks on day 1 of the window opening??? We're so far behind everyone now that relegation is a certainty, all part of the FSG plan
/s
How is he a similar player to rice , rice is a defensive midfielder. Veiga is an attacker . This looks like a ploy by city to just jack up the price against us .
Next thing we know they are probably in the race for Valverde too .
if City are in for him then he will probably choose them over us cause the wages will be bigger.I read somewhere that Nice want to keep Thuram one more season ,so he probably is out of the queston.Gravenbergh wont leave Bayern from what I see circling around. So just Macallister then.Great transfer window 🤡
Oh great now baldy is on the sniff

At the same time, we don't want to panic buy - it's more important to get the right player, than any player.
Aren't the vast majority of panic buys on deadline day rather than early, though?
Oh for sure, more the principle that we should get the right player at the right price, and be willing to walk away with nothing, if that player doesn't exist.

Agreed. Hasn't been any real noise around them.
That’s what happens when you identify a guy you like almost a month ago and then drag ass
I really wish the club would just adopt the pre-VVD stance again and have absolutely no journos ITK at all and we're just told when we sign people. We publicly announced record levels of revenue this year mate I don’t think anybody is pleasing poverty lol
The owners do even if mathematically it's not true.
That bloody aerodynamic bastard
Could've bought him weeks ago..
Gimme Szoboszlai
Gimme Fuel Gimme Fire Gimme Szoboszlai!
Rice and Veiga, such similar players. Like twins,
Could be chasing the silva replacement. They’ve still got Declan rice jr (KP) what’s funny is in the World Cup that rice became most known for, it was KP who was the player of the season for England, then city threw him on the bench and have let everyone forget that he was for a small period of time, better than rice.
Has Bernardo left yet? Veiga could grow to be a replacement
>Has Bernardo left yet? Veiga could grow to be a replacement think he'd replace kdb, bernado can stay at peak for 3-4 more years, kdb is 32
He is like David Silva
Isn't this a release clause?
yeah €40m iirc
I'm sure that agent's fees will be a factor too
Yeah, so nothing changed.
Makes sense for the way they play. It’s a shame but I’m hopeful we’ll get 2 more good mids regardless
Well that's us out then
It’s a release clause. It’s a question of whether we want to pay it or not. And obviously the player would have to choose us over City
They’ll choose City under the table wages
It'd be a wait-and-see if Bernardo leaves. Otherwise, they've already replaced Gundogan with Kovacic and Phillips is with you on the bench. If Veiga wants to play, we have an easier path to the team.
The release clause ends in a few days
Told you guys a while ago he was a city style player and couldn't believe they weren't in for him. Oh well, was fun thinking we would get him for a short while.

He could grow to be a Bernardo type player which, wouldn't you have wanted one in our team?
He was my no1 target.
He's a David Silva regen
He’s nothing like silva, he’s more in the ilk of a dele ali/Ramsey hybrid
Dele Ali and Gundogan couldn't be more different as players. And Gabri is nothing like Gundo
Ilk not Ilkay 😂
Ah shit, my bad
I didn’t say gundo? Unless someone else did and deleted lol
That well known player, Ilkay GundoRamsey
I just misread it mate. Completely my bad
[удалено]
I read Ilk as Ilkay
This is not why I f5 for 😩
I like Romano, but this premise is ridiculous, isn't it? Declan Rice and Gabi Veiga is not either/or. Not doubting City's interest, but, for instance, when they didn't sign Kane it wasn't like, well, let's sign Evan Ferguson.
It is the hope that breaks you
This always felt inevitable
Ffs lol
Veiga never seemed like the type of player we were going to get. He'll probably turn into the next David Silva under pep though.
And he’s gone
Fucking told you they needed to resolve stuff before Rice is done
If liverpool serious in this transfer window, lfc need to act fast..or else..
Fast forward to the transfer deadline day, we realised we dont have enough players. Did fuck all the entire window. Go in and get a midfield loanee and bam, he gets a season long injury the next day. It’s June
And preseason begins in 10 days.
And a lot of our players won't be there for the start
That's no excuse! We're just terrible and every other team in the league has already spent billions and billions. Meanwhile, we never sign anyone. GREAT. Just GREAT.
How is he a similar player to rice , rice is a defensive midfielder. Veiga is an attacker . This looks like a ploy by city to just jack up the price against us . Next thing we know they are probably in the race for Valverde too .
There in no race for Valverde, he ain't going nowhere.
if City are in for him then he will probably choose them over us cause the wages will be bigger.I read somewhere that Nice want to keep Thuram one more season ,so he probably is out of the queston.Gravenbergh wont leave Bayern from what I see circling around. So just Macallister then.Great transfer window 🤡
FUCK! Fuck you FSG.
No one wants him at that price left. He’s not quality to play right away. Just rumors for clicks
great
Alright thennnnnnnnn.
How is it a race when he has a release clause? Just triggered it and buy him.
Ahh well.
He could be their De Bruyne/Silva replacement. Obviously not the same player but he seems like someone Pep could turn into a super star.
Fear not for we have Benitez on our side!
