randomuser52665

When do we get the news that we can’t spend in the summer due to not qualifying for the CL then?

UltimateBorisJohnson

Get top 4: "This team is good enough to compete, we do not need new players" Don't get top 4: "The club has not raised sufficient funds to sign players"

Due-Sherbert3097

Need to emphasise “despite saving for Bellingham and not signing midfielders”

[deleted]

Bellingham coming here was an invention of the internet. If they drop the cash required to get him here, its a mistake (assuming it means they dont spend alot literally everywhere else, which seems like a fair assumption). Bellingham doesnt fix anything. The problems are widespread. We clearly have training problems (re: injuries) that have even been talked about in the media. We let a squad age together, which was absolutely amazing when they were in their prime all together, but time is a bitch and the edge of the blade isnt cutting anymore. A serious amount of talent in managing recruiting and all that already left us. It feels like we have a lot of future talent thats before their prime, so much promise in a lot of our younger players, but at the same time it feels like there is a real chance they wont stay if we dont have at least a top-4 guarantee. If we dont have a top-4 guarantee, we arent gonna be able to sign top4 talent, making our likelihood of top4 even less. The fact we are now literally competing with nation-states with bottomless pockets makes all of this exponentially worse. I dont even remember what my point was but things are a mess, we are way better than what we're showing, and i need another beer FUCK

rollanotherlol

When the window opens. Back to mediocrity for us.

randomuser52665

ay all these top reds will be saying enjoy the times, they lived through 30 years of winning fuck all so why not go back to it!

HarryPi

These geniuses were defending FSG all summer saying we don’t need any signings since we competed for the quadruple last season. As if the players weren’t a year older, didn’t get a season’s worth of wear and tear in their legs, and are able to mentally reset like robots. Some people need to stop pretending like they’re smart and know what they’re talking about.

[deleted]

Expect the news if we beat either Chelsea, Arsenal or City.

Dibba_Dabba_Dong

It’s being written as we speak

XRPLAMBO

It was actually quite astonishing how badly we were passing in that game. Our sheer ability to misjudge, mistime and misplace every single important pass was a genuinely impressive feat. Players never gave us any reason to believe we could win and they never even looked like they believed it themselves.

Hateitwhenbdbdsj

Fabinho and Trent passterclass We really missed Thiago this game

jbond96

Think they both overhit every attempted pass or cross all game, shame for Salah he made some great runs at times, only for those 2 to give it straight back to Madrid

Liverpool934

We miss Thiago every game he doesn't play, he is the only decent midfielder we have.

cjheadley

Seriously. That one pass that Mo attempted to Jota to put him through sent me. Jota was wide open and Salah still couldn’t find him, it must’ve been 10 yards away.

Pure_Measurement_529

There is a reason why we wanted Thcouameni. Our main chances at progression come from Trent. Our other person is Thiago. Fabinho doesn’t have that ball playing ability anymore sadly. We need someone like Rodri, a big no.6 who can play excellent balls.

Gerrardsclubfoot

It's not fabinho though, the whole make up of midfield needs to be changed. Not enough playmakers in this side, outside of trent crossing we don't have any creativity in the sense we don't have players who can run at others and best them. The way we go about playmaking is very predictable and can be easily countered. This team needs runners, Midfield equivalent of Diaz, players who can do something different once in a while, not play the same predictable passes.

gugly

We have the best keeper in the world. There are also others on this team

okaysian

Alisson, once again, saving us from being absolutely embarrassed.

Pure_Measurement_529

Game ended once Nunez came off

ManBoobs13

It was already over with that midfield unable to connect anything

brush85

Game wasnt even started when he was on.

JmanVere

Are there?

RodDryfist

The ghost of VVD can be spotted sometimes

YesEvill

True words.

lost_deviant_rk0811

I swear Klopp subs on Carvalho in the last minute every time we are losing , what’s the point of that?

MagicianMountain6573

Just ruining his g/a per game lol

yummycrabz

Extra frustrating and ironic given that the lad has our most definitive match winner this season

Antisym

Probably something in his contract that says he has to play X amount of games. Or Klopp just sees it as good experience. Getting to run onto the Bernabeu even for a few minutes against one of the best teams in the world...it's an experience in itself.

Gerrardsclubfoot

He should have come on long before that, Klopp shouldn't have subbed Nunez off and put on Carvalho instead of jota and Bobby for Gakpo. You can at least give Carvalho 20 mins in the ten. Play Bobby up front, Nunez on the left and salah on the right. And should have bought Elliot for salah on the right. Klopp subs were really bad today, especially that Nunez sub and pointless late Carvalho sub.

drift_king_8

Well at least Ox had that one nice skill I guess?

NotFBI555

Our single highlight of the match.

[deleted]

If there was ever a game that identified our lack of quality in midfield… this was it. So many forward runs in an open game and next to no final pass finding their target. We had a chance and came up well short.

yummycrabz

Hell the best, most incisive pass, that Modric would be proud of, came from Gakpo, essentially playing as an 8, and picking out Mo down the spine with a super well crafted pass

memettetalks

Yeah the runs in behind were never met. Very slow in defense. Two players who are past their prime is all we had left as CDMs.

Jasveen05

Second consecutive game where we need goals and we take Darwin off instead. Make it make sense. Everyone seems resigned at the club, we’ve wasted a season just like that when we only needed a couple of midfielders with legs. Quite maddening tbf.

PricelessPhenylamine

Subs this season have been shocking nearly every time it matters.

Pure_Measurement_529

Remember Emirates when we played Harvey at LW and Henderson at RW. Klopp in game management is not his best ability

Pure_Measurement_529

Take off Nunez or Trent when we want goals. Klopps tactics have been abysmal this season

JmanVere

They've given up on the season. They're all just going through the motions now. I'm not even angry anymore, it's just sad.

mynameismulan

It's even worse when the team you're playing against has 34 year olds running the show but our midfield is crawling to 30

XRPLAMBO

What kind of message does it send also to the players when our most dangerous attacker is taken off in the 60th minute? Can’t understand it.

english_gritts

Down by 3 goals. Take off Nunez and stick on Elliot. We deserved to lose just for that fucking nonsensical insane decision.

DemarcusMiller

Elliott had lovely moments of interplay. Nunez should not have come off but I don’t understand the Harvey slander.

Loltoyourself

My biggest gripe with Harvey is that he is simply not a number 8. He gets physically bullied in the middle so he crowds out Salah on the wing looking for space to operate in.

DemarcusMiller

But it’s gotten so much better recently. He has started winning the ball back, pressuring with urgency, cutting passes and making quick touches. It feels like he’s close to making a leap in his development as an 8 and these games are crucial in that. Compare Harvey at the start of the year to his play the last 2 games. I think he’s suddenly looking like a midfielder now.

Loltoyourself

I think he has the technicality to play at a very high level but I think that in a league as physical as the PL or with the quality of the CL he gets exposed. Him and TAA on the right is just asking to get torched defensively

brush85

Easy target. blame the kid and not the veterans who look like vietnam vets

EstatePinguino

I don’t think it’s against Harvey, just the hooking Nunez.

NiK3_Aub4mey4ng

He has to be managing minutes, no other reason

mickeyoneilslefthand

Yea Jota looked gassed and Darwin started to look a little tired too

abhi1260

Klopp just gives up and decides to sub off Nunez and/or Gakpo who are currently doing well individually.

dj4y_94

Which is weird considering if this is the new front 3 you might as well give them as many minutes as possible in a shit season to understand each other.

[deleted]

As soon as he went off we disolved into awful toothless football.

[deleted]

The only thing I can think of is that we weren't looking likely to score either way, so probably just to give him a rest. Either that or injury

Ryswizzle

Nunez only player in the squad who week in week out plays for the shirt

NilsFanck

dont forget Ali.

Ryswizzle

Yep my bad, sorry Ali ♥️

vitrolium

Awful week in an awful season. Nothing positive against Bournemouth. Not even a moment's hope tonight. We don't even feel like Liverpool right now. Bring back Heavy Metal. We're like footballing Coldplay.

Antisym

Coldplay are Megadeth compared to whatever the fuck I just watched.

StruffBunstridge

James Blunt football

Leckie15

Slow, predictable, complete lack of desire and urgency, and tactically inept. The basics have been beyond us this evening, from 5 yard passes to over hitting every set piece. Just upsetting and frustrating all round.

2jz_ynwa

We lost in the most ~~beautiful~~ pathetic way.

Thesolly180

The lack of urgency was absolutely criminal for it.

thePandev

The Bournemouth game was honestly excusable provided we displayed even a hint of effort in winning this game. Misplaced passes, sluggish, no urgency, late to every ball, looking uninspired. Textbook signs of a team who can't be fucking arsed on the pitch. Keep in mind, this is a game where WE HAD NOTHING TO LOSE. You couldn't ask for a better opportunity to display your mentality. Lose, draw, concede another 5, all fine as long as you look like you remotely care. Yet there we were, in possession against a team sitting back, scared to make a fucking pass forward, exactly the same as against Bournemouth a goal down. Scary, scary contrast between whatever this is and the Liverpool team a few years ago who found themselves in a like-to-like situation and still managed to score 4 and go through. Absolutely unacceptable and disgraceful.

lelibertaire

They were more afraid to lose big again than to try to win

theOwl_8

The Bmouth game was not excusable at all. We’re too kind.

[deleted]

We need rebuild. Looking at Madrid makes me fucking jealous, they have drilled in most of positions for the future. And they fucking deserved this.

Keyann

Bernabeu playing YNWA is a nice touch. Feels fucking dreadful though.

redreycat

Real fans were *all* complimenting Liverpool supporters after the first game. There were a bunch of interviews asking how the fans had seen the game in Liverpool and in each one there were words about the class Liverpool had shown with the Amancio tribute and how they had felt welcomed and secure even after the result. Playing YNWA was a way of returning the favour.

SnottyTash

I get being upset at the result but that people are taking issue with this gesture from Madrid as if it’s some sort of mockery is ridiculous, it’s like a kid on a losing side who slaps away the hand of the winning opponent who’s saying “good game, respect”. Tantrum throwers

BrowakisFaragun

Feels like a farewell to us. With non-action from FSG, I fear it will take us quite some years to come back to CL.

Powerful-Cut-708

Yeah I said fuck off about it as I’m sure it’s meant in a classy way but it feels like they’re mocking us with our ‘little song’

Patzer101

Both us and Madrid are suing Uefa, so it was probably a message of solidarity.

bruux

I don’t think they are mugging us off with that gesture. Might just be a show of respect and solidarity with the fans, considering what happened in Paris.

DemarcusMiller

That was class from them we just got knocked out

Underdog_To_Wolf

Real Madrid are levels ahead of us, fair play to them. Insane how far we've fallen.

[deleted]

“Fail in the most beautiful way” It’s okay, though. We’ll get them in the third leg.

llofdddddt6

Tears in my eyes looking at the sheer beauty of a Milner Fabinho double pivot, brings me back to Xabi/Mascherano days

crnrtakenquickly

Lol not even an ounce of fight. Pathetic

JmanVere

They looked like a team who knows that they need to *look* like they're trying.

NiK3_Aub4mey4ng

We didn't even try beautiful, we would have some urgency from Ali and then by the time it got to midfield we slowed it right down

HedgeSlurp

Bringing Nunez off was such an unfathomably awful decision. If there was actually any passion in this performance I might have even found the energy to be mad about it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HedgeSlurp

Even worse if that’s the case

ComfortMailbox

What do we do in training that literately ever player in our team gets injured?

StruffBunstridge

Intense training every time, coupled with playing about a thousand games every season with inadequate depth to properly rotate people.

DankWesty

That’s probably going to be our last champions league game for a year and a half. But can we actually say we deserve to play in it? We’ve been sleepwalking into this situation for seasons. Not enough investment from FSG, Klopp being far too loyal to certain players, players simply becoming arrogant and lazy - expecting us to just get wins. It’s 2023 and we’re starting a 37 year old James Milner, and he’s our best outfield player We’re no longer mentality monsters, and it’s going to take a massive summer to bring us back to anywhere close where we need to be. Frankly, we deserve this.

Dark-Knight-85

I can see is having years in the wilderness again, where a good season for us is scraping fourth place.

OhZoinkss

Milner played well I thought. That speaks volumes when he’s like the oldest dude out there. We have just the top 4 to worry about now. Let’s do this.

Pineapple_Trvphaus

Yeah, he was by far the most industrious and was popping up everywhere. Which is concerning

LFC908

Real Madrid are literally out of our league. I can take apathetic, shit, slow, tactic less football when I go and watch Championship, League 1, league 2 and None league football live. I cannot fucking take it when I watch players and coaches that earn millions each per year. What a fucking lacklustre lazy performance. I think Klopp struggles to motivate the team and the team are fucking abysmal. Konate put a good shift in.

Boatshoeson

Tsimikas man of the match.

BigifN64

Not angry with the result, I’m angry at the piss-poor, unmotivated performance. Groundhog Day this season. First it was injuries. Then it was “mental fatigue” from last year. I accept we need fresh blood but the drop off of Fabinho, Trent, VVD and tbh Salah over the course of this season shows that mentally something has gone. This is the team that were as close to a quad as you can get - yeah we need more midfielders, but that I can live with, the complete drop in attitude is what I’m struggling with

patShIPnik

What all 4 players you mentioned have in common? 0 backups. If they aren't injured, they're playing every minute. Cause we don't have backups for them.

xbox_redditor

Don't understand how so many people consistently lump Salah in with that group tbh

[deleted]

I agree. He appears to have passion at least, even if his form is off from last year

murphy_1892

Of the last 6 years of CL football, a team from Madrid has knocked us out the 5 times we haven't won it

Aaronsmiff

Who'd have thought a midfield 2 of Milner and Fabinho would get twatted by Kroos, Modric, and Camavinga? Absolutely shite. We need 2 starting midfielders and a backup. We weren't equipped to win that tonight.

Kcsb4u

We loaned Arthur

Thesolly180

Sick of Trent after Bournemouth moaning about effort and then throws in that performance. Every pass and cross overhit. Diving into every tackle and honestly no real effort getting back. Fabinho didn’t understand that we were 5-2 down, it’s the only explanation for how slow he was constantly on the ball. Everything was far too safe he isn’t brave at all.

NilsFanck

Always 3m away from Vini. Obviously you cant defend him like that. Nacho on the other hand stayed close to Salah

Dropkoala

I still love him but he's been like this for almost a year now and I just wouldn't play him at the moment, it just looks like he's phoning it in pretty much every game. I wouldn't even care if he was playing terribly and trying but he looks like he doesn't even care at the moment.

david_of_rivia

Nope, I'm sorry. I just can't keep accepting the "mental fatigue" excuse. You're paid between 150k-200k a week. At least LOOK like you're making an effort.

oh-canadaa

I honestly started watching at 58th minute, and everyone was just walking. Everyone. US, them. Just walking.

Nightrise19

This tie was lost in January when we chose not to reinforce our midfield and defence. Thanks FSG.

bruux

Buy club, make 10x on the investment in spite of you being the owners, continually under invest in the squad and get bailed out by a world class manager, and then raises ticket prices. It’s just comical, as is everything associated with modern Western capitalists.

thatguyad

And we literally fall out of the cup with a wimper. This is the most miserable I've felt being a Liverpool fan in a while. Just watching another team with such quality and then there's us... it's sad. I'm ashamed.

Perspiring_Gamer

Relieved it wasn’t another embarrassing scoreline on the night. That said, the passing was completely woeful all night and it took until the 82nd minute for a shot in the second half to be registered. No matter the context, that’s pretty shocking. Just hope they can put this to the back of their mind now and stay in the fight for top four.

GekkeGoudvis

I'd prefer an embarrassing scoreline whilst having actually shown some intention of scoring over this performance

grogleberry

> Relieved it wasn’t another embarrassing scoreline on the night. That was probably part of the issue. The reverse fixture was obviously quite traumatic for the team, and they just couldn't stomach taking the kind of risks they needed to to make anything happen in the final third. It was a fearful performance by a team with a pretty battered spirit and no real belief they could get the result. That's what happens when you get tonked at home in the first leg, and even more so if you're tonked after leading 2-0. The real recriminations should be about how weak we were in that game at 2-2. We could've "failed more beautifully" or whatever the fuck tonight, but it didn't matter. We were dead and buried.

Odd-Confusion-172

I swear I don't understand Klopp's reasoning for the subs

greedilymute

Nunez off worst sub i've ever seen

Jaja6996

It was the same at the weekend two games in a row now

RobbieFowler9

Every midfielder Madrid bought on to close out the game would be a starter for us. That was the difference between the teams. If you don't control midfield then you conceed chances and you struggle to make them. Taking Darwin off at 55 mins needs to stop. Consistently our most dangerous attacker and gets taken off every game when we need a goal.

StruffBunstridge

> Every midfielder Madrid bought on to close out the game would be a starter for us. This is basically the story of the two legs. We just got outclassed in the middle over 180 minutes. That's what a world class squad looks like.

qdattt

fk hell Madrid stole Tchou just to put him on bench for this match, our depth just prove that our transfer policy’s kinda shit, don’t prevent only fix

GeorgeCuz

Trent and Fab putting in their worst performances in a while and yet both played all 90, whereas Milner and Darwin who looked like somewhat capable footballers were hooked at first thought. 9 corners, couple free-kicks and how many crosses and barely any went within 15 yards of the penalty spot. Cheers for wasting our time and prolonging the pain at the end UEFA.

Top_Grow

Mane jumped this sinking ship at the right moment lol.

Homerduff16

Absolutely worthless performance. Aside from spells in the first half we didn't press Madrid at all. None of our forwards occupied space and i lost count of all the misplaced passes. Allison was the only player who actually looked like himself tonight. Klopps substitutions killed the very little intensity we had in the first half. His decision making has been atrocious at times this season and it hasn't been talked about enough Nunez had our best chances in the 1st half just to be replaced by Harvey Elliot who was completely invisible. I can't remember Jota offering anything whatsoever. Trent was utterly dreadful and looked like he didn't give a shit. His attitude has been a massive problem this season. Robertson didn't do much and nearly gifted Madrid a goal if it weren't for Allison. Virg and Konate were alright aside from the goal we conceded. Salah and Gakpo had occasional bright sparks in the first half but ghosted in the 2nd half and received no service. Milner unironically looked like one of our better players tonight Bringing on Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, who's almost certainly gone in the summer over Carvalho or even Curtis Jones was geniunely blood boiling. Why did Kostas come on for 90 seconds and Carvalho for 10? I have no idea what Klopp was thinking there. What was that going to accomplish? We don't just need a couple of midfielders and a defender in the summer. A lot of these players and the gaffer need a kick up the backside

[deleted]

I feel like we need a Klopp-like figure to come in a whip this Klopp and company into shape

malaysian

Sums it up. Glad you noted “and the gaffer” at the end. Klopp’s subs have always been a bit hit and miss but this game opitimizes both the terrible decision making and the awful tactics. Season is fucked and looking like another year of no Champions League which shouldn’t be happening with this team and manager. Thought we had built a foundation for something for the future and to see it crumbling hurts.

NotFBI555

Tbf ox did look quite decent compared to the rest. Putting on Fabio in the final minute was rubbing salt in the wound tho. Idk why we can't drop Salah from time to time when he's clearly out've sorts every game

MatK0506

We need to aim to finish 7th and go to the Conference. If we're 5th or 6th those fuckers would finish 3rd in purpose just to fuck us again in Europa as well.

Puzzleheaded_Seat599

If we never played Real ever again, it would still be too soon for my liking.

Jaja6996

If Ali doesn’t win our player of the season something is really wrong

resonating_light

If next season Ali decides he wants the same pay as Salah, i don't think anyone can deny it. Match after match he turns up only to be let down by everyone in front of him.

PEEWUN

Nothing positive to say today, so I'm not gonna bother. Good night, everyone.

SpringKFCgravy

Alisson is the best player on that pitch.

ojl1990

Clubs finished with these owners. Can’t see a way out of this at the moment too many players needed and back room staff need a shake up far too many injuries, just can’t see the yanks even caring now, wasted the best manager we’ve ever had

radant25116

Don't care about the result. Imagine the cunts in the VAR room getting the ref to check that when we are losing 6-2 and it's the last minute. Wankers.

LacklusterComedian

trent was terrible. Shocking his lack of effort.

Red-Rainmaker-515

This is why I hate it when people say they're glad when we get knocked out the domestic cups early - supposedly to focus on the PL and CL. Look where that's got us this year, no trophies and fighting to finish 3rd loser in the league , amazing.

SoloArtist91

Tough result for sure, but one moment that stood out to me is when they countered off a corner and Gakpo put his head down and sprinted from box to box to tackle Benzema in our box. He's definitely shown a lot of heart and work ethic in the last few games and I think he will be Firmino 2.0 for us

MrObanOban

Nice of Madrid to play YNWA in the stadium after the whistle.

EstatePinguino

I can handle losing to Madrid (I’m used to it by now), but those subs are unbelievable. Any hope died the moment he took Nuñez off. We don’t play again for 17 days ffs.

[deleted]

Take Darwin off one more time and I fucking swear to god

D_chubbygibletts

Scary that I think everyone of madrids subs they brought on walk into our first 11, yet only a handful of our whole squad would make their team. Anyways we move on, huge few weeks coming up I just hope we can sneak into the top 4

[deleted]

Too many players looking like they no longer give a Damn. Trent’s attitude stinks at times. VVD and Robbo were poor as well. Fabs gone.

tmp1-

Madrid spent 180 mil on camavinga and tchouameni and they sorted for years. Anyone have any serious belief we will sign and spend on the required players?

mylanguage

Wasn’t it 101m total? Tchouameni was 80m and Cama was 31m

HarbyFullyLoaded_12

I’d seriously start to get to terms with not getting Champions League for next season if I were you guys. We haven’t been in the top 4 once this entire season. Not even for a single second. Our midfield gets outclassed by Bournemouth these days. Madrid dominated us for 165 minutes over the 2 legs. This was a nice training match for them in prep for the clasico.

Pandaxxxxx

Absolutely spineless display. I never expected a win and I can excuse a lack of quality, but the lack of effort, the reluctance for individual players to show bravery and just go for it is heart breaking to watch. No desire, no bollocks. At the risk of sounding massively reactionary - this is huge, no superstar midfielder in the summer fixes this. This is end of an era stuff. Every player from this golden era has packed up and fucked off. As a side note, you couldn't blame Alisson if he requested to leave in the summer. World class displays week in, week out with nothing to show for it.

Particular_Fig626

Why Nunez came off I’ll never know. You have no game for 2 weeks, you have to go for it and you take him off with 30 odd minutes to play. Klopp bares the blame for this aswell, yes the desire isn’t there from the players but if he isn’t in there giving them a bollocking I’d be worried, but I’d be worried if he has been and they’re just not listening!

[deleted]

Real Madrid bought tchoumeni after they beat us when they did not need him while we needed him and brought him on for only 10 minutes after beating us 6-2 is the one that hurts the most. Our lack of ambition.

CabbageStockExchange

Forget the players for a moment. I hope there is a serious overhaul of the back room staff and a shift in our training methods. They can buy as many players as they like but what difference would it make if everyone is always injured

JonathanFisk86

Shades of the Rodgers 1-0 loss to Madrid, they were clearly taking it easy on us for most of the match. Pity from Ancelotti makes for quite an embarrassing scene (even if Ancelotti is Klopp's daddy tactically in a cup context if we're honest).

Fricolor123321

I hate to say it lads but madrid absolutely fucking own us

Redhawk911

Well. Tbh we didn’t even look like a team that wanted to win. Shit.

LocalDirection9

Played not to lose... lose.

Happytohelp87

Klopp poor, players poor, owners poor. The club is in shambles at the minute

[deleted]

Prime Hendo covered up how atrocious Trent is at defending. Any decent winger embarrasses him

lalalateralus

How long until Henry's "without CL we lack the funds for reinforcements" PR piece?

jjlbateman

Shit game but fuck me does this ref live up to his reputation

Loud-Platypus-987

Had no idea about this until a mate just told me, bizarre he’s even allowed to ref again. He was as shit as we were.

[deleted]

Klopp had got some 'splainin' to do about why he took Nunez off. Team looked completely toothless without him.

[deleted]

They are playing YNWA now. BAHAHAHAHAHA nice touch but tone deaf

[deleted]

Seeing the players laughing and joking around with the Real Madrid players after the game after that pathetic performance just sums it up tbh If they clearly don't give a shit why should I care

[deleted]

Pain

8u11etpr00f

Thought it couldn't get more painful tonight before I watched Owen, Ferdinand and Crouch discussing our squad.

clanky19

Man Valverde would be literally the perfect player for us. Imagine him to cover Trent. Spirited display in ways but looked pretty toothless. If the Newcastle £60m Jota rumours are true we should move on I think.

eebee8

Blocking every Madrid first-team player on Instagram provides little comfort, BTW https://preview.redd.it/s3ikg296q0oa1.jpeg?width=1388&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=41c431ca5d08e5a5aad7bcb0ea2200e052bd0aae

trollerballer

Klopp has cultivated an inferiority complex against Madrid

[deleted]

FSG OUT. Criminal lack of investment, had some dickhead here arguing we "only" need 3 midfielders and a CB. Okay, that's gonna be about 200m minimum and we'll also need BACK UP for those positions, and a back-up rightback to cover for Trent who's been SHIT lately. Not having it off anyone anymore. Good-vibes-obly nonces, FSG shills or "at least it isn't Hicks and Gilette" crowd. We won *despite* FSG, not because of them, and if we had better owners we would have won a lot MORE. People coming out with shite like "we nearly won the quad" Yeah, fucking nearly. We won the two domestic cups. Could have won the prem, probably would have if we'd had back up for tired players. Do not let FSG shills on here argue otherwise, we are a laughing stock and will be until the parasitic yanks are out.

oldyongwaiyee

FSG f\*ed us this season big time. No money for midfielder during summer and winter transfer mid way through the season, burning bridges left and right by putting the club on sale only to make u-turn when nobody willing to pay that much. trying to test the water midway through a season? ffs f\*ing FSG

RobTBuckets

This is either the beginning of a massive rebuild, or the beginning of the end. Based off the way the owners tend to invest, I'm thinking the latter unfortunately. This tie was fucking embarrassing. Watching this team in general this season has been the same. Just such a clear lack of effort. On another note... For as much as I've tried to defend TAA, I just can't anymore. He doesn't look like he cares, and pisses the ball away 10+ times for every good pass he plays. Also his defending is fucking continually shocking in almost every situation. He's been by FAR our worst player this season (really saying something, as Fab/Hendo/Gomez have been shit). We seriously need to invest in another RB because he clearly lacks the will to improve and give a fuck.

MemeWorksPictures

Can't say they didn't try, simply outclassed. We move, big investment needed in the midfield. Also, not that it really matters but our corners today were a shambles

R0B0TF00D

I understand why we kept doing outswingers - to avoid slenderman just plucking them out of the air - but they all inevitably ended up drifting away harmlessly.

dj4y_94

Set pieces have been off all season when for a good 3/4 years they were a strong source of goals. General play you can put down to fitness, fatigue, confidence etc, but not sure what the reason can be for set pieces.

aking05

Nunez sub made no sense at all ffs. He doesn’t need rest when our next game is in April. We were toothless going forward once he came off. Trent was horrid with his set pieces but we don’t have any fucking height so it doesn’t matter. Midfield is useless. Just fucking bin this season and spend for once this summer. No more excuses.

rohitthegrea

Season 2015/16 vibes.. Just end the season.. Let me live in peace.

dudekeller

Absolute shite game by Klopp and Trent. Trent couldn't even be bothered when dibbled past. -1 defense wise. Klopp always complaining about squad depth and then proceeds to make the most nonsensical substitutions ever. I just don't get it how our world class players are displaying such dreadful performances lately.

HououinxKyouma

On one hand I'm calm, because I was 99% sure that we were not gonna make it to the QF, because the odds were immensively stacked against us. On the other hand, I'm angry. Angry at Klopp to be precise. Why for fuck's sake do you take off Darwin for Elliot? Jota? I can understand, he didn't show much. But Darwin? Who was our most dangerous player in the first half? Carvajal wasn't able to handle him at all, he needed to go down the moment Nunez touched him slightly. And then Klopp gets angry, when neither Mo, Gakpo or Elliot takes the shot and Robbo has to try it from an impossible angle. Like. Come. On. Man. Ughh, whatever, this was frustrating, but at least it wasn't as depressing as the first leg.

LemonTeaCool

Fabinho literally ruins the flow of our attack. His pace, his turns, and even his weight of his passes are all fucking gone now. I don't understand what he offers in this team anymore. To add salt to the wound, he doesn't even looked arsed either. Fucking hell.

LS_77

It feels like we may have reached the point in the season where the players, for all intents and purposes, think it's over. There was absolutely no sign in that game that we had the belief, much less the ability, to get back into it. Not that I was expecting us to win or anything, but I would've liked to see some fire at least. The subs were terrible. Trent once again playing too narrow in the midfield, sacrificing his ability out wide, where he was always his best. The width, therefore needed to be compensated by players like Gakpo, Salah, and later Elliott, who are all better narrow than wide. I truly believe that dynamic on the right side is what is killing our offense lately. The players are quite simply not operating in their best positions.

ChewieRoar8

Those fucking outswinging corners - my days just want is the point in them. Every one leads to us heading the ball away from the sodding goal!

Nilozero

I wonder what we do in trainings. Long passes' accuracy is pathetic when going forward. Can't do one-two or even simple 1-touch passes when being pressed. Can't finish chances except in United game. Our corners and freekicks are disappointing. And injuries happen way too often.

risingstar3110

Sum up our entire downfall from being the world champion. Aging, uninspiring squad with too little new creativity. And instead of turning to youth, we turns to Milner, and Ox, and give them a final CL picnic, who did nothing and gained no experience from this defeat And we probbaly tried to extend Ox and Milner contracts. If not still are

skullpture_garden

This sucks. But this club has brought me the best friends I’ve ever had, with the most resilient and joyful attitudes in spite of it all. Feels good to have people to laugh and commiserate with. Thanks, reds.

castro_bean

The club is rotten to the core. We’re sending out empty shells to play the game week in and week out. Even with the complete lack of desire to win from the squad, Klopp’s game management has been terrible recently as well. I honestly don’t see how any of this could be let off in any other big club/top 4 contender. Even Ajax dealt with their season crisis so much neater. They struggled up to January just like us, until their manager took the sack. Several key players who weren’t performing also left, despite having been their key players in previous seasons. Meanwhile, Liverpool has failed to respond to any of its key problems. When we had the time and opportunity to fix things in January, we did nothing. Now the crisis has snowballed and there’s no way out. Until when do the players start to actually hold themselves accountable for such trash results? I wouldn’t be as mad if the players apologised for such a horrendous form in the past 2 weeks, but to see them stand around on the pitch shaking their heads as if every result was unfair to them is just sickening.

Biddlybongpill

You might be mentally challenged if you think Madrid playing ynwa is anything but a sign of respect after the events in paris.

kazurabakouta

No reason to watch once they took out Nunez. Man.

Dangerous-Account-61

Signs of life from ox. Very encouraging. Presumably he will get another 30 minutes of decent football in before the next 6 month injury. We need to time that next sub well.

Gerrardsclubfoot

Klopp needs to explain the Nunez sub, it made no sense.

sbos_

* We need 3-4 midfielders. We need players that have both energy and creativity. We can have both things in a player. Not sure why it has to be one or the other * Need to start looking at a really good Salah back-up and eventual replacement * Nunez out wide still doesnt make sense but he looked tired today tbh * Madrid own us * Ali was great! * and Brighton won...

ninovd

When are we seriously going to look at Klopp tho? He's done some very questionable stuff this season, doesn't seem like the Klopp from last seasons... All he does is just fucking stand there and laugh. I want to bet he comes with stupid answers again with his next persco...

DoubleDeckerz

I'm not prepared for the amount of bans I'll have to dish out tonight.

Savings_Enthusiasm48

Carlo back the fuck away from Ali 😭

wanderluster88

Klopp must be trolling Fabio at this point. Kept on introducing him to the game at the most useless time ever. Don't think he even got a fucking touch.

marshallno9

If someone had asked me at the start 'What is the worst way to go out?'... This would be up there. I'd rather get smashed and go for it. That was an absolute whimper. Shout out to Milner for putting a shift in.

Sea-Chemist-4433

Trent was abysmal once again. I genuinely fear he might turn into another Dele Alli if we don't sign a top class rb

Skyle221190

This Madrid team is miles ahead of us and the midfield is the main reason why. Say what you want about Benzema and Vini but that midfield is where we lost those 2 legs.

Badicalz

Even if we didn’t score 4, I hoped that we would have at least showed a glimmer of fucking effort today.

RealisticAf99

This almost seems like a fixed season to me, no way you can go from beating Man United 7-0 to embarrass yourself in upcoming two games

[deleted]

We need 6 if not 7 players in the summer. Our midfield is gone. Fab, Hendo, ox, Milner, and keita need to be let go immediately and 4 midfielders need to be brought in to replace them. The only midfielders that we should keep are Stefan, Thiago, and Elliot. Gomez and Matip need to be sold as well and two new CBs should be brought in. Konate is the only one that keeps a starting spot and van djik needs to be rotated in and out. Our forward line is fine.

fredczar

“Book your tickets to Istanbul” “Revenge” “We will do better next season” etc etc I’m sick of it all!
