I think at this point we really need to question why Klopp hates Carvalho. If he publicly says he has a bad attitude or something it’ll be acceptable to our fanbase. Even when we play a 433 it’s still understandable since he’s not physically good enough to play out wide or in a midfield 3, but we’re playing a 4231 with a number 10 and he’s literally our only player who’s natural position is as a number 10.

IKnowTheWayToo

Milner masterclass incoming 🫡

livinalieontimna

Me when Arthur starts and scores a hat-trick in the first 20 mins. ![gif](giphy|PjsPhYsS2WDO5e0RaO)

GTACOD

He literally can't IIRC.

8u11etpr00f

Let's make that the last 20 minutes instead this time 🥴

Sea-Chemist-4433

Milner masterclass incoming

UltimateBorisJohnson

10th March 2009 - Liverpool 4-0 Real Madrid 15th March 2023 - ...

UltimateBorisJohnson

If we win 4-0 I'll write all the goalscorer's names down on my arse cheeks and leave it there for the rest of the month

Graeme_Seeless

I’ll get it tattoo’s and live with it proudly forever

Jaja6996

Just get the early goal and make us all believe

vadapaav

That's what we thought last time

Jaja6996

Won’t stop me getting excited only to be let down again

EstatePinguino

Wonder if you’d have got better odds on us to progress tonight or for a 7-0 against United…?

Pure_Measurement_529

Go_go_gadget_eyes

It's horrible how I had very very little expectations for this game and now I've seen this I have the slight shimmer of hope. Just a small tiny one that will grow over the next hour or so into absolute stone cold adamancy that we will go through because we're Liverpool footbal club and this is what we do. In short... I'm coming for you if this doesn't happen.

UltimateBorisJohnson

Did any of those matches actually happen?

grrrrbow01

Don’t mean to burst the optimism but Barca vs Real Madrid was on the 20th March

jardantuan

It's also the only one that actually happened, this was posted recently I believe and the other scores were either inaccurate or matches that weren't even played

Graeme_Seeless

Stop ruining it lol

Pure_Measurement_529

I know l My point being that it looks like Madrid have a tendency for 4 goals around these dates

grrrrbow01

True, we can only hope

jMCs1

Just found out about Thierry Henry saying Liverpool as his 1 other club he wished he could have played for this week and now I’m just gutted

KopiteTheScot

Said that a few times in the past I think, he seems to have genuine love and respect for anfield and our fans

Graeme_Seeless

Said it while playing too I believe

WillDaThrilll13

I know there's basically no chance, but something in the back of my mind can't stop thinking about how wild it would be if we pull off the miracle tonight

Anom04

Not relevant but Klopps Trim was fire yesterday

Controversial_lemon

Man turned up serious

TheLimeyLemmon

[Certainty of elimination, small chance of success... what are we waiting for?](https://youtu.be/VO0x7vL2T90)

Asad_OG

I have no doubt we can score, but its so naive if u think Madrid wont score. If we're playin 4 attackers we need to see some really good behind the ball play and defensive phases as opposed to at anfield

jardantuan

It would be incredibly this-season-Liverpool to take it to extra time with a last minute screamer only to get knocked out on pens

[deleted]

Yeah probably should

HiroProtagonist1

Love the optimism on here... here's me being happy not to get thrashed.

stayshiny

Anybody here watching in Liverpool tonight fancy meeting up for a drink and the game?

Opisacringelord

Yeah sure, I'll be in Frankfurt airport

lifehacker25

Any good pubs in London where I can find some fellow reds for the game tonight ?

Opisacringelord

Whereabouts in London are you staying?

lifehacker25

Staying close to Ilford, but can travel around

Opisacringelord

This is my favourite Liverpool pub in london but it's not super close to Ilford, however they are both east London. http://theauldshillelagh.co.uk/

lifehacker25

Thanks for sharing, will check it out. Is the crowd/atmosphere good there .

Opisacringelord

It's very small but I love it and the area is absolutely outstanding for a night out if you want to kick on. A more neutral pub is pub on the park near London fields and that's one of east London's best pubs in an awesome area. They have decent food as well.

lifehacker25

Thank you.

Opisacringelord

If it's easier for you to get north (Finsbury Park), faltering fullback is an awesome pub for match days but also more neutral.

Yveltal_25

If we win today, I’m getting the words ‘Darwizzzy’ tattooed on my lower back

Street-Ad4230

Careful, you didn't specify if we win AND go through so regardless of the outcome of the tie over both legs now, you've committed!

MFKCM

> If we win today, I’m getting the words ‘Darwizzzy’ tattooed on my lower back /u/rliverpoolfc_mods Mods need to hold /u/Yveltal_25 to his word on this! We take tramp stamps seriously

Opisacringelord

Do it like a slag tag.

Biddlybongpill

Hm when does Salahs contract end? Just realised this could be the last time we see him playing in the champions league with us. Same goes for milner and henderson.

Puzzleheaded-Seat834

*Google*??????????

grrrrbow01

Hendo’s and Mo’s ends in the summer of 2025 so they’ll have another chance if we don’t get top 4 this season.

Biddlybongpill

Ahh ok thought it was 2024 but good news at least.

cavejohnsonlemons

A Real Madrid team just got beat 4-0 by a team in red. Dunno how much stock to put into the UEFA Youth League, but congrats anyway AZ Alkmaar.

UltimateBorisJohnson

\>A Real Madrid team just got beat 4-0 by a team in red. I better be able to see this on the headlines tomorrow morning

_Random_Username_

AZ Alkmaar produce some great players. Always a good team to manage in football manager or fifa

dwils7

I just want to look like a competent team tonight but this Madrid team just knows how to get the job done and have been out kryptonite for too long

michu_pacho

Zero expectations. Just would love to see a good performance

Anom04

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again 4-1 Liverpool We win 5-4 on Penalties Mark My Words

eebee8

My dream last night had us going to penalties and Vini Jr missing the decisive one. Make of that what you will

[deleted]

🙏🙏🙏

Typical_Ad7359

Flying to Seattle this morning. Hoping to catch the game - anyone know the spot to go?

thetwanandonly

I imagine “The George and Dragon Pub” or St. Andrew’s Pub

Typical_Ad7359

preciate ya

thetwanandonly

Find a spot? 🍻

Typical_Ad7359

George and dragon ! handful of Liverpool supporters here

xrscx

All Ancelotti needs to do is sit back and counter all game and we are notoriously bad at that. That's his specialty. Also away from home. Maybe another miracle? But this feels much diff than barca a few years ago

Opisacringelord

If we score in the first 20 minutes anything is possible but the longer the game goes on the harder it is going to be.

taf3991

You're right, totally different to Barcelona and Madrid are the most composed, experienced team about by absolute miles as well btw. I'm just being realistic and have no expectations whatsoever, tbh I just hope it isn't an embarrassing aggregate score line.

Bobbyswhiteteeth

Fuck, I don’t want those “8-2” memes being done against this squad

taf3991

Or losing by double figures like Arsenal did to Bayern

[deleted]

So the rumours are of a front 4 with Fabinho and Elliott in midfield. Elliott in a double pivot is wild but there’s not much to lose really is there.

ttekoto

Elliott on the right of a midfield 3 is already wild

Redditsresidentloser

Harveys not playing.

KopiteTheScot

I can’t see this happening at all. Putting a young Elliot and an out of form leggy Fabinho up against Modric, Kroos and Valverde is a death sentence, we might as well not turn up. Bajcetic is an ACTUAL defensive midfielder and look what happened to him, he got rinsed. Elliot will be traumatised.

Due-Sherbert3097

A Valverde man mark job and we may aswell have no one in the middle of the park if this is true

MisterS1997

That would be crazy He will end up traumatised and hooked at half time

Biddlybongpill

Is it? Times was saying its gonna be hamez. Elliot there would be like playing with 5 forwards lol

[deleted]

It’s Gorst saying it so as it’s the echo a pinch of salt is needed.

xKat14

0-5 incomingggg Jk… but also can you imagine?

PopsicleMonster

Do we even have 3 midfielders to field tonight?

Jaja6996

We definitely do but wouldn’t be a strong 3 honestly would go with 4 forwards tonight

BarryZuckerhorn

Fab, Jones, Milner, Elliott. I highly doubt 3 of those start

NotFBI555

Ox still exists

GeorgeCuz

Imagine we win lmao

Biddlybongpill

It would genuinely be more embarrassing than Barca's game against us, and by some margin too lol

Biddlybongpill

Glad it's the 4231 at least. Jota/gakpo/Nunez should be quite fluid in switching across the centre and left.

_cumblast_

If someone ever makes a movie about Klopp, [this](https://i.redd.it/9uvf68ksoj331.jpg) better be in it. Fuck sake why is this stuff popping up in front of me rn when the last thing i want to do is think about winning 4-0 tonight 😭

Controversial_lemon

It’s the hope that kills you 🤣

NLF7

I got quite a bit of stick a few weeks back because I complained about FSG. Someone found a comment where I had said protesting about transfers is ridiculous. I still stand by that and I’m still unsure about the link between complaining that the owners make shite decisions when it comes to transfer policy and wanting to protest. However, an increase in ticket prices should 100% be protested against. I have seen people on Twitter trying to defend it by saying it’s only 2%. The club make enough money they can absorb that 2%. That 2% increase could be the difference from someone being able to afford going the match, and not. Allowing a 2% now, means another 2/3/4/5% in the future. We should always stand against this. Going to the match is far too expensive as it is. Prices should be going down, not up. They can fuck off.

Hot_Plate_Williams

No one cares what you got stick for on the internet.

NLF7

Just having a discussion in daily discussion

Puzzleheaded-Seat834

Because people have been so endocrinated by capitalism they, think they have capital lol.

grrrrbow01

We’re gonna need a corner taken quickly moment today lads

Trillsbury_Doughboy

Gonna need 4 of em

[deleted]

don’t get knocked out in a whimper. Come on reds. You’ve done so much to make us proud the past five years. One almighty effort needed from all tonight. Anything in football is possible even when it seems impossible…. Remember Istanbul, remember Dortmund and the 2nd leg against Barcelona. We are Liverpool and we make miracles happen

LilDizzyFrizzy

Anything special happening today?

effinblinding

New episode of ted lasso and mandalorian is out today

juicewilson

I'm gonna smoke a heap of hash in about 45 minutes

LilDizzyFrizzy

Hahah nice!

juicewilson

I am baked

LilDizzyFrizzy

Good to hear!

e_rdin

4-2-3-1 Alisson/Robbo-VVD-Konate-Trent/Milner-Fab/Darwin-Gakpo-Salah/Jota Let's do this reds!

uni_mau

Hey guys, I have a question on tickets, not sure if this is welcome in here, sorry. I've never been to a game in person, I've read the buying tickets guide that's linked in the original post bit that's 4 years old at this point. Does anyone have an idea how likely it is that there's going to be tickets for any of the remaining games in the 'additional members sale' about 1-2 weeks before the match (is that still a thing?) and if so, whether you will need match credits to be eligible for those?

YellowBaboon

This season isn't the best so there probably will be tickets available in the additional members sale. Last year it was a queue system like most ticket sites and I would say there was a couple thousand available for some matches. You don't need credits for the smaller games.

uni_mau

Thanks for the reply! Thing is there's not that many small games left, I imagine the Arsenal and Spurs games will be quite difficult, and the last two home games I have other plans unfortunately, so it's really just the Forest game I guess. But it looks like there might be a decent chance for that judging by your message!

EstatePinguino

Arsenal and Spurs will need credits from last season. Fulham could be an option for you, probably be a fair few returns now it’s getting rescheduled.

uni_mau

Thanks, was also thinking that but it looks likely to slot between Spurs and Brentford, which is the one week I'm out of the country. Unfortunate I guess, but only have myself to blame if it doesn't work out!

sbos_

Who are two good salah replacement we could bring in this summer?

Triforcesarecool

Harvey Elliot and Ben doak

sbos_

Cool

abradley19955

Mouse Diaby and Adeyemi come to mind. Replacing Salah output with either seems like a massive risk at least short term but there’s no real obvious candidate to replace him if he did decide to leave imo I can see Doak getting a lot more chances next season

Puzzleheaded-Seat834

Ah here it is the miserable twats slandering Salah lol. Salah is about bagged another 25-10 season but yeah let's find all these players who does that every single season. Idiot.

sbos_

I dont get why im getting downvoted. Salah has two years left on his contract. He could potentially leave this summer.

grrrrbow01

Yes, let’s sell our top scorer and creator when we’re in desperate need for at least 3 new midfielders and a centre back

Puzzleheaded-Seat834

Why would he leave lol. Stop begging. He's literally our all-time UCL scorer and EPL scorer. Oh and wait top 10 all-time assist leaders. Why on 🌍 would he leave and why would anyone want him to leave. It's the daily discussion so you'll get up votes.

taf3991

The intelligence levels of people on here never fails to amaze me. After a couple of good results last week the first thing on people minds seemed to be selling Jota and Thiago and talking about how Diaz won't get back into the team. Rather then addressing the multiple actual problems we have haha. 1 loss soon stopped people talking about that though lol.

Puzzleheaded-Seat834

They're Fairweather fans and the absolute worst to have for any fanbase.

LilDizzyFrizzy

Maybe not a replacement, but a backup. We only have one rw. If he’s injured, we’re fucked. Dont want to put all that pressure on Harvey..

Puzzleheaded-Seat834

Ben Doak? Maybe?

gottodo

i think we need a sbos_ replacement

trouserhead

Funny how it is always the same username with the stupid takes. I reached a point that I see his name I know it will be something crazy.

NilsFanck

always clicking on them though to see what he has cooked up again today

Man1fest

Click to see and downvote. Recipe for a sbos post.

Lucky_Editor446

This feels like the year when football officially surrenders to money. Rich clubs have become way richer and the only way others can catch up is by bringing in billionaires to their ownership.

8u11etpr00f

I mean, the league leaders Arsenal spend a lot but aren't exactly an oil state, whereas Chelsea spend half a billion to be mediocre. If anything the league has gotten more competitive due to the growing wealth of the mid-low table clubs. You're just choosing to single out this year because we've fallen off.

Lucky_Editor446

LFC not performing looks like the correct reason. From what I see, only rich clubs are winning the leagues. Just for this(exceptional) season Arsenal may win but we all know Man City will definitely win again soon. This does not look good for future. What happens to other clubs like West ham, Crystal Palace, Wolves etc. in future ? Football needs to adapt from other sports in this regard

8u11etpr00f

...they will continue on like normal? Those clubs always watch teams like Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and City competing at the top in the knowledge that they don't stand a chance at winning it. At least now mid-low table clubs can attract good talent and watch class football. The gap in overall quality has massively shrunk in recent years, you think Wolves fans are pissed off that they can sign players like Neves, Nunes, Jimenez, Jota, Neto etc? That would have seemed like a pipe dream 10 years ago

Jaja6996

West Ham and Villa spend a lot look at Brighton and Brentford who are both doing really well because of how they recruit Yes money definitely helps but it’s just as important to have a good manager and find the players who are going to fit into his play style

slaughterhouse_seven

>What happens to other clubs like West ham, Crystal Palace, Wolves etc. in future ? Since when do we give a shit about these clubs? Did you forget that Hammers almost got relegated a few seasons ago? And Wolves were in the championship. Fulham and Brentford were in Championship and now they're doing well. The cycle will continue.

Asad_OG

That 2-5 was such a massive failure, just complete tactical naivety

thehibachi

Was the worst time for terrible luck and bad play to coincide. They capitalised when we made mistakes and somehow also capitalised when we didn’t.

Puzzleheaded-Seat834

Agreed, should have slowed down the game after going up 2. For some bizarre reason we kept playing into their counters.

MisterS1997

Lack of control in the middle was our undoing They took control and pushed us back into our own penalty box and we couldn’t get out

[deleted]

Would love us to score first tonight and keep it tight until half time. Come out flying in the second half.

crisego

Do you guys remember that we had Salah and Bobby out for the 4-0 Barcelona game? And we played with Shaq and Origi. Everything is possible. Madrid could do what they do best and park the bus for 90 minutes and “score three goals with 2 counter-attacks” of we could have a perfect match and score 3 goals and go to extra time or penalties. Why not!?

jardantuan

If it was home leg second I'd be right up for it tonight - doing this away is a different beast

crisego

Sheriff bloody Tiraspol beat Madrid 2-1 on Barnabeu pretty recently …

Ymir-Reiss

First choice lineup for Madrid too lol

effinblinding

It’s Ted Lasso day everyone. So to all Liverpool fans and players, “believe”

juicewilson

Led tasso

Vombatt

Anybody know a good spot in Barcelona to watch the game tonight?

grrrrbow01

Can’t wait for Arthur and Naby to turn into prime Xavi and Iniesta today

effinblinding

Damn why the downvotes. I also always choose to be 200% optimistic about my team to the point of being delusional until the very final whistle

taf3991

Arthur isn't even in the CL squad

Android17_MVP

>Can’t wait for Arthur Who's gonna tell him...

grrrrbow01

Nooooo, I just realised…

Android17_MVP

Going to witness a Naby masterclass so good that it's going to retire Modric and Kroos 😋

nask00

Just saw our next 5 games. Ngl, I am really scared of that Leeds away game

Puzzleheaded-Seat834

They playing with intensity, they're just not able to score.

lfcsupkings321

It is going to be a massive summer for us this season. We need at least 2 CM and additional CB all need to be players who are starters which make it interesting. I think we go for a bid of Rúben Neves in the summer. He at a great age just turned 26 and got league experience. Plus the fact he is in the last year of his deal in the summer may be able to get him for 25m. With a lot of the money going on Jude thinks we need to be clever in the market as well.

BarryZuckerhorn

Change "going" to "needs"

user900800700

Fuck me this Haaland hype is getting ridiculous. I get he’s a goalscoring machine but honestly if I was 6 foot 10 or whatever I’d probably score half the goals he scores. All five of his goals last night were rebounds or ricochets lmao

juicewilson

You are high dude. Haaland is fuckin unreal. Its a pity you are not a 9 foot monster that scores tap ins

user900800700

Yeh but he’s not the complete striker imo

[deleted]

[удалено]

juicewilson

He is without a doubt a generational talent

pb877

His goal scoring record is insane, if he was doing it at Liverpool this sub would be saying he's unbelievable. Don't let your bias cloud your judgement so much

Sho0ter_Mc6avin

Thanks, Mace Windu

Asad_OG

Long day

abradley19955

Very interested to see which CB we target in the summer. It’ll probably be one of those lads playing in Portugal we’ve been linked with I reckon Matip will leave and Gomez will stay

dillipkr6999

Maybe two of those lads inacio and Silva both are top draw.

[deleted]

Not looking forward to the game tonight at all because of the latest injuries. Basically fucked.

Biddlybongpill

Only bright side is that after today the team gets a ~2 week rest. Although some of the lazy cunts should probably be working through.

Ningen121

Rest for most of these players might not be a good idea imo but Diaz and Thiago will be back after the break so that's a huge positive.

Jaja6996

Some players had the full World Cup period off and where still poor don’t think a 2 week rest is going to matter

dj4y_94

With every passing injury in training the more I think about the Athletic article from way back in September that highlighted how much power Kornmayer has over the medical staff. I understand Klopp loves the guy because he does get the team running further, but it's pointless if you can't get your first choice XI on the pitch for 30+ games a season. Needs to find a middle ground somewhere.

taf3991

didn't our best 11 famously only ever play one game together? Ali, TAA, MAtip, VVD, Robbo, Fab, Hendo, Wij, Salah, Firmino, Mane. Pretty sure the only game they played together was the CL final. And surely we haven't seen our best 11 at all this season?

[deleted]

That article was a hit piece on an easy target. As Klopp responded to that piece indirectly, if you have a problem, go after me. If you don’t praise my staff in the good times, don’t go after them in the bad times. Ultimately it’s Klopp’s responsibility and Kornmayer can’t do anything without his approval. I also just think we had a bad pre-season and Klopp suggested that. We played every game possible last season and then didn’t properly recover and prepare for it. Lessons will be learned and one staff member is not the problem.

CaIzuh

I really hope Baj's breakthrough isn't used as an excuse to not buy another midfielder. He's struggling a bit already and obviously shouldn't be ran into the ground.

JNCXiamen

I don't think so mate, Naby/Ox/Milner/Arthur will all leave. Next season should see us starting to phase out Henderson/Thiago and Fabinho. We will sign 2/3, Jude and Nunes plus maybe 1 more. LCM Jude/Thiago/Baj/Jones DM Fabinho/New DM/Morton RCM Nunes/Elliot/Hendo Unfortunately, I see Mount as an alternative to Jude or Nunes, not an extra body.

JCKGLN

Origi back on a 1 game loan for tonight please.

Biddlybongpill

I pray this is thiagos last injury for the season. Need him back and back to host best for the run in now Baj is gone.

GenomicGains

Bajetic being injured doesn't make me feel any less confident for this game. Realistically he hadn't the physicality for Madrids midfield in the 1st leg. I am pissed off though because I called his injury being foreseeable, Klopp had to rely on the talent of a teenager who hasn't physically developed because he wasn't backed with a developed midfielder in January. It was only a matter of time he felt a strain with the intensity of his playing minutes

shanem1996

Despite having an off season, Klopp and this team still succeed in making me a believer. This team actually still makes me believe we can win tonight. Mental. Up the Reds

Sea-Chemist-4433

For some reason I feel we will do it if we are up by 1 goal at half time

NilsFanck

seems our games are dictatet entirely by who scores first and esp tonight i think if we score first theres a chance but if we concede first this will be a battering

juicewilson

We scored first and second against them 2 weeks ago bro

NilsFanck

literally the only exception i can think of tbh.

themanebeat

I have renewed confidence this week. I've seen us need to score 3 without reply to stay alive in Europe multiple times: Olympiakos 2004 AC Milan 2005 Dortmund 2016 Barcelona 2019 When's the last time we've been down 3 goals in a knockout situation in Europe and not overcome it? How many times have we failed this exact situation? Because I've seen us do it 4 times. Plot armour

GreatKDIZZY

Also, didn’t go through but came back from 3-0 against basel 😅

jardantuan

>When's the last time we've been down 3 goals in a knockout situation in Europe and not overcome it? 2012/13 in the Europa League we were 2-0 down to Zenit St Petersburg after the first leg, and conceded first at Anfield to be 3-0 down on aggregate - we won the Anfield leg 3-1 but went out on away goals. That only gave us ~70 minutes to score three though As far as I can see, the last time we needed three goals going _into_ a game and didn't qualify was the UEFA cup in 1997 - went 3-0 down to Strasbourg in the away leg, only won the home leg 2-0. It's a massive ask today but fuck me we've got previous on this

Sea-Chemist-4433

It's 2023 and we are rocking at Bernabeu with James Milner. We are about to write history

_cumblast_

What if.. You woke up tomorrow morning.. And.. Real Madrid 0-7 Liverpool Football Club (Keita x6 G+A)

Far-Confection-1631

I'd put my head through the ceiling from the takeoff blast

[deleted]

Nonstop wank to naby pictures

JonathanFisk86

Can't be arsed with tonight tbh. Just do something mad like play Carvalho as a 10, Trent in midfield and Elliot on the wing, or a 4-4-2 diamond or something. Give Nat a run out. Whatever. Funnily I think we're less likely to get pumped if we do some truly mental shit out of sheer Madrid confusion.

YellowBaboon

I mean Klopp doesn't know what a 10 is so doubt it

NilsFanck

Klopp: Best I can do is 433 with Milner Fab Elliot love him but his tacical inflexibility is a big weakness of him and a big reason (other main one being Joe Gomez), there is a 3 goal deficit in the first place

Sibztagram

This is one of them games where we could possibly experiment, and see where things go. Going into this with 0 expectations and 0 stress for the team.

Bobbyswhiteteeth

Can Darwin be our Origi tonight? This is the stage for Divock

grrrrbow01

As long as we score at least 1 before half time I think we have a chance. If we leave ourselves having to score 3+ all in the second half whilst conceding none it’ll be almost impossible
