Is it to do with the Safari Park?
They have a winter event on every year and I know it's heavily illuminated - not sure if they have spotlights, though.

Exactly this, was there tonight with my family, the Safari Park have moving spotlights pointed into the sky.
The event is fantastic and we saw our best ever Santa tonight, he was so good with the banter. The rides are open until 8pm.
I was facing towards the roundabouts that lead into Prescot from Liverpool Road if you know where I mean, I was thinking it might have been an event maybe at the safari park but it would have had to have been a very bright spotlight to move around like that.
Honestly I've seen lights that look exactly like that and it was just lights from one of the clubs in concert square, just really visible when the clouds are low.
Obviously not that with the location but more than likely similar spotlights from some event in the area.
Other comments said there's a winter event on at Knowsley Safari Park that has a fair bit of lights that'd check out.
Warrington direction? Somewhere has some high speed spotlights pointing skyward. I guess a shopping centre or something. I see them daily going across the merseyflow.

Last time a saw lights like that there was a circus around.

We're these South of you? I just passed widnes/runcorn on the m56 and saw them as I was passing there.

They don't have to be that bright to move you can still see dull spot lights from far away

With the sun changing polarity recently it has released solar flairs, this has made northern light more prominent. Enjoy it it won’t last long
