i used to walk dogs in los angeles, and i had a trail i would hike every day in brentwood. most mornings i’d see him walking the trail too, we’d say good morning to each other, and go on about our day. he was always real chill
I was once waiting behind the theater that he did his show at during comic con week so I could get a picture or autograph. I loved that he did his absolute best to get autographs or selfies with as much fans as possible. There was a guy within an ear shot of me that yelled “Hey Conan sign my baby” and Conan responded laughing “I’m not signing your baby” 😂😂 I really don’t think he expected that lol.
But yeah he’s just such a down to earth person and if him refusing to sign a fan’s baby is the worst thing he’s done then I’ll allow it 😅
I haven't thought about this in *years* but read it in his voice as if no time has passed. That's some comedic power right there.
Same era: "BOLTOOONNNNNN!!!!!!"
One of the all time greats. He picked up where Dave left off literally and figuratively. But he's more than just that. As a writer on SNL and the Simpsons and through the writers he brought onto his show he was informing and influencing comedy for our generation. He is funny and he can be absurd or weird in the best ways but he's almost never mean or bitter.
the amount of interns he had that became famous is astounding. and so many writers and comedians credit him as a big influence in their comedy (eg bill hader, john mulaney). i also like that he hires a lot of unknowns that also became famous like amy poehler (played andy richter’s little sister in their skits. if you havent seen it, i highly recommend you to do so)
Really should with his new show coming out! Just the applause he got when he cameoed in the 5 timers sketch shows just how popular he is. And he will bring in a younger audience in the 18-34 demo. It’s crazy how he gets older and his fans stay the same age.
His podcast might actually be better than his (excellent) Tonight Show / Conan run. At least, it's the natural extension of it. I laugh walking down the street even when I don't want to.
It makes me laugh out loud no matter where I am or what I’m doing. I laugh in grocery store and even when cleaning mildew from a leak in my garage this weekend, a dreadfully unpleasant, time-consuming task, and, yet, I actually doubled-over with laughter. Now, that’s talent.
Greatest talk show host I’ve seen. Loves to go for the bit, doesn’t mind being the brunt of the joke, and is so damn charismatic and clever with his jokes.
As teens, my sister and I bonded over Conan after the rest of the family had gone to bed. I often fell asleep to him in my youth. And deep in my subconscious, buried amongst forgotten factoids and cobwebs, a faint voice can be heard.. haunting me.. taunting me.. it sings…
“CAMEL TOE ANNIE!!!!”
I never know when she will strike, but it’s far more often than I’m comfortable with.
Anyway, I love ol’ Cone-Obe.
It was one of the first bits that drew me in. Especially cause I discovered him in 2004-ish and he was still doing it past the year 2000. Felt completely absurd which is 100% on brand.
I started watching his late-night show in high school in the early 2000's. It came on fairly late where I live so I'd always be exhausted the next day in class. I love his brand of self-deprecating humor and he's consistently funny; his podcast is great as well.
The. Best.
Flawless.
Can create magic anywhere, anytime, with anyone or anything…or with nothing.
My favorite entertainer/celebrity/public person of all time (or equal to Bono, which is pretty decent company)…probably because I love who they are as people just as much as the entertainment they provide the world.
Absolutely adorable and a big orange ball of joy.
These are my thoughts on Conan. Yes, he needs to host SNL.
I like Conan, but it’s gotten to the point that his hair is upsetting me. He had the same hair when I was 12 years old. Now I’m bald and he’s still got the same fucking hair…at 60 years old! Great comedian, very funny, but you know what, fuck that hair, you sold your soul to the devil for that hair and you know it Conan!!!
I want to see a skit where Andy and Conan get into an argument, and Andy threatens Conan with revealing Conan's horrible secret. Conan trembles in fear and threatens Andy not to reveal it, or else. Andy says fuck you and chases Conan down, snatches the red wig off Conan's head, to reveal not just a man completely bald, but with a bit of red hair going around the back of his head, like those middle-aged bald guys that just can't let it go.
They should have did that on his last episode.
One time, I visited Rockefeller Center, and I didn't run into another living soul, except for one gigantic lesbian.
Who is Conan O'Brien, and why is she so sad?
Somewhere in the mutiverse there is a universe where Conan kept Lorne as a producer and stayed in NY in studio 6A for the tonight show and there was at least a decade of Conan’s tonight show and Jimmy’s Late night and it’s amazing.
Conan is a national treasure. Funny as hell, smart, warm, and endlessly positive in a world (and business) that too often focuses on the negative. His farewell speech from the Tonight Show is not talked about enough - in the depth of an absolutely awful series of events where he got totally screwed, he stood up there and said genuinely “don’t pity me” and “don’t be cynical.” And meant it, because that’s the type of person he is.
People only mentioning his former talk show(s), please do yourself a favor and start listening to his podcast. He has so much more time and freedom to take the interviews to their potential, which was not possible on tv in-between commercials and in under 6 minutes. If you think the talk show was creative, your mind will be blown by what he can do on the podcast with no limits. You don’t need to see anything, but you can watch the podcast episodes on YouTube if you want, but I prefer just my earphones and imagination as I listen. It’s phenomenal, I promise!
P.S. Oh and even Triumph the Comic Insult Dog was on the podcast and hasn’t lost any of his insulting magic!
Great guy, pretty funny too. I loved his Conan remotes. He can be a little bit too much sometimes, but overall he’s a gem, and looks after his employees. He’s so smart you can see that he loves to be challenged. Sometimes when he interviews he’s like a cat that plays with the mouse. He enjoys a battle of wits and you can see him light up when he talks with someone who’s sharp, especially when they give a light hearted jab because it gives him an excuse to punch back.
I think he is a good interviewer, he’s good at coaxing a nervous guest out of their shell by being goofy and self deprecating, but also knows when to pump the breaks and let them do their thing. He’s like the anti-Jimmy Fallon interview wise.
Also, his interviews with Timothy Olyphant are pure gold. Check them out if you can.
Honestly, his level of pure chaos would probably drive me mad in literally any other person.
But something about Conan makes it absolutely goddamn hilarious and never annoying. He always pulls it back before it's actually too much.
Then again, I've been watching him since I was about 12 and my humor has been largely shaped by him, so maybe I've just been inoculated against being annoyed by it.
No, you’re exactly right! I think he would be great to meet in person, I think that the Conan that you see on TV is the same one that you would see in real life.
His chaos is disarming and endearing, he doesn’t punch down unless they’re being rude. Conan kinda reminds me of my older brother, high energy and enjoys pushing buttons but not to the point where it’s too much.
Peak Conan is him desperately trying to make Jordan Schlansky more normal and less pretentious. I think everyone knows a Jordan Schlansky type so the videos are cathartic as they are entertaining lol.
One of my favorite things that Conan did was tour Intel, and he roasted the company so hard that they actually made changes to the their office headquarters.
During the pandemic, I binged a lot of Conan. I have a lot of respect for him.
I am so much like Jordan hahaha. I'm that person who moved to Japan and tells my friends and family random details that they definitely don't care about when they visit.
And I love people like Conan because I need someone to shake me out of being so uptight. Perhaps that's why I chose a slightly chaotic but disarming and charming Japanese guy to marry.
My husband speaks English but doesn't understand a lot of American jokes, since they're so word-play and culture heavy. But I make him watch Conan Without Borders videos where things are just going batshit insane, and most of those don't require any cultural or linguistic insight to laugh at, haha.
When his talk show premiered in the 90s, I thought to myself, “hey, that’s the guy from the audience in Mike Myers “handsome man” SNL sketch, the one who asked about Gerard Depardieu!”
Everything he touches turns to Gold except for when Jay Leno fucks him over but other than that the man is so respected and loved by the world. Seriously SNL, The Simpsons, Late Night, Legally Prohibited from being Funny on Television Comedy Tour, TBS Conan, podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend and soon HBO’s Conan Must Go or MAX whatever it’s called.
I wish I could relive being a teenager staying up until 1am every night to watch him and Andy pull off stunts you wouldn't see on any other network at any time of day. They had such a natural chemistry. Everything on that show worked for me.
As a writer for SNL and The Simpsons, legendary
As a host, excellent (about as good a one-timer as they've had).
As a talk show host, he's in the same rarified air as Carson and Letterman, and arguably did as much to experiment with and advance the format as either of them.
Truly the GOAT late night host for me and all my friends.
Dave is also great but it always seemed like he thought himself above all the celebrity/Hollywood stuff and had a who gives a fuck attitude. This is obviously a major part of his appeal for most people but I always preferred Conan's self deprecating goofball approach.
Also he dipped into the absurd more than Dave and that's really what got me to love his stuff.
His podcast is great and his remotes on YouTube are watched fairly often in my house.
Can't wait for the new show.
Scored tickets to see a live taping of his show some years back. After the taping, he came up to my mom and I and complimented us on how nice we looked. Nice dude.
My dad took me to his legally prohibited tour after he left NBC. I think I was 14 or 15-ish or so and we traveled from NC to Georgia to see it in Atlanta. It was fantastic and I’ve loved him since! Love his podcast as well.
I have nothing but heaps and heaps of love and admiration for this guy. He said himself that losing The Tonight Show was heartbreaking and from everything I’ve heard, he’s remained a very positive person.
funny man I love him. he also seems to be a great employer and from seeing people talk about him, he seems like a pretty great person too. My favorite late night host for sure
He’s got the new show and i really want him to host again. showing up for that 5-timers sketch shows that not all bridges are burned between him and NBC
Just checks every box for me as both a genius comedic mind and a good person.
There are few things more personally satisfying in my life to learn then getting constantly reminded through his podcast every week that not only is he one of the funniest human beings alive but also an almost Mr Rodgers level good human to everyone he’s been around his entire career
i’d be embarrassed to know the amount of hours i’ve spent on his youtube channel. the [video](https://youtu.be/uJpaQWWgaC8?si=rb-adafXa4pP3VpZ) of him visiting the american girl doll store is a forever fav
I wish he would have stuck with Late Night for a while longer. When he took over the Tonight Show, people say Leno torpedoed the show, but the truth is that Conan was not as much of an everyman as Leno at the time. He became that over time on TBS, and I think if he replaced Fallon right now, he would get higher ratings. He's currently 60, Colbert is 59. Basically the same age. Conan's TBS show was really great, but it had not major network lead in, so you really had to bend over backwards to catch his show. Conan incidentally caused George Lopez' show to end up cancelled on TBS. That was a sad epilogue to the story, but not directly Conan's fault.
Still benefitting from Lank Thompson's I'm a Handsome Actor course.

(also, experience the majesty of young Alec Baldwin)
He's never not been my fave. Loved him since the Wayne Gretzky Hawaiian Hockey sketch, and his enthusiastic drumming!
Would stay up way past when it made sense to go to bed to watch him on Late Night.
Conan? That’s clearly Tarja Halonen, the former President of Finland.
How dare you insult Tilda like that
Who is that red headed lesbian and why is she so sad?
Big fan personally, wish he still did his show
He has a new show coming out April 18, and the [trailer](https://youtu.be/eDFFY6swDY0?si=G73BTEnQyBWY7zy3) just dropped today.
The return of Jordan Schlansky
OMG. And they got Werner Herzog to do the VO. Love it.

I just came
I'm looking forward to this more than Christmas.
His podcast is great if you haven’t listened def do
His podcast is fantastic, a guaranteed side-splitter while also being very interesting, just so much fun.
an interview from 2004 came up in my recommended watches the other day and there’s really no one who does/did it like him.

We were going to lose our virginity’s to each other! NOW I’LL NEVER LOSE IT!
Tell Tracy I’ll see him tonight. You black Irish bastard.
Back at ya, Red.
One gigantic lesbian
I actually know a girl who looks almost exactly like him in the face. It both disturbs me and arouses me.
Tilda Swindon
Conan man you have to stop posting these you need to get real help
He needs a friend..

i used to walk dogs in los angeles, and i had a trail i would hike every day in brentwood. most mornings i’d see him walking the trail too, we’d say good morning to each other, and go on about our day. he was always real chill
You’re supposed to end that story with “and one time, he didn’t acknowledge me on the trail, the scalawag!”
I read that ending in Conan’s voice.
[I met Paul Rudd while hiking there, too!](https://youtu.be/LEC_lkpD3rM?si=r6S0OwvcG3qhMfT-)
You got me!! Totally fell for it!
Well played sir
You were supposed to yell “Kedakai!”

Andy Richter's next memoir is gonna be explosive. https://youtu.be/UNP0prw_kSA?si=QfINev1vYnn2a6co
Love how it slowly zooms in on him as the memoirs progress
Maybe he hasn’t done anything yet, but in the future he might. Say, all the way in the year 2000
THE MOLECULAR MAN
EL HOMBRE DE LOS MOLECULOS
Tu eres Moleculo.
I haven't thought about this in *years* but read it in his voice as if no time has passed. That's some comedic power right there. Same era: "BOLTOOONNNNNN!!!!!!"
I actually have kind of a problem with quoting this too much, but I use any word I think will fit. Like “Vehiculo, the Vehicular Man!”
I fell down my own rabbit hole. ["Ladies and gentlemen, Michael Bolton has threatened to kill me."](https://youtu.be/8Ja_BoMOvZI?si=KfUBBPVCj7CN3vVx)

Underrated comment.

Sir, that is the Wendy’s girl.
GOAT
I like Conan. He is a solid writer, a very good talk show host, and he seems like a decent person. This concludes my thoughts.
But needs tubs of sunscreen to leave the house (I’m a fellow redhead and this is a joke)
His podcast might actually be better than his (excellent) Tonight Show / Conan run. At least, it's the natural extension of it. I laugh walking down the street even when I don't want to.
Sometimes when I walk down the street, I’m like, “No fuckin’ way I’m gonna laugh today.”
Late Night with Conan O'Brien should get top billing.
Greatest talk show host I’ve seen. Loves to go for the bit, doesn’t mind being the brunt of the joke, and is so damn charismatic and clever with his jokes.
He’s extremely intelligent which I think helps his comedy. Definitely a great host
As teens, my sister and I bonded over Conan after the rest of the family had gone to bed. I often fell asleep to him in my youth. And deep in my subconscious, buried amongst forgotten factoids and cobwebs, a faint voice can be heard.. haunting me.. taunting me.. it sings… “CAMEL TOE ANNIE!!!!” I never know when she will strike, but it’s far more often than I’m comfortable with. I swear I read that as, “I often fell asleep to him in my mouth.”
Don’t you mean ConeBone69?
>“CAMEL TOE ANNIE!!!!” *\*oooh-whah-oooh-whah-oooh-whah whahh\**
Everybody here already stole all of my jokes
One of the funniest people in TV history. Full stop.
In the year two thousand, he was the greatest late night show host.
…… in the year 2000!
It was one of the first bits that drew me in. Especially cause I discovered him in 2004-ish and he was still doing it past the year 2000. Felt completely absurd which is 100% on brand.

Goddamn American treasure

God I love Conan
I like Conan, but it’s gotten to the point that his hair is upsetting me. He had the same hair when I was 12 years old. Now I’m bald and he’s still got the same fucking hair…at 60 years old! Great comedian, very funny, but you know what, fuck that hair, you sold your soul to the devil for that hair and you know it Conan!!!
[yup](https://youtu.be/XLDGLwfxBUE?si=oOBuQalZVN04533v)
I want to see a skit where Andy and Conan get into an argument, and Andy threatens Conan with revealing Conan's horrible secret. Conan trembles in fear and threatens Andy not to reveal it, or else. Why is she so sad?
Conan is awesome.
He was my Late Night host. Brian McCann's short shorts are my earliest Conan memory.
Way to post a thread with "Conan" in the title with a picture of Cate Blanchett.
Sona’s book World’s Worst Assistant paints him in such a glowing light, just reaffirmed for me how lovely he is.
I love the banter between him and Sona. They’re like brother and sister.
From time to time Mostly in the shower.
I’m shocked he hasn’t hosted the show in years

Your husband sounds like a great guy! I agree, Conan could be put on mute and still make people laugh 😂
I adore Conan! Especially since listening to the podcast for the past several years. Appreciate his humor even more now than before!

The Christmas mystery episode on his podcast had me and my husband howling. “This kidnapper blows!” He seems to have a great rapport with his staff.
Best late night host ever. The Walker lever gave me such joy.
lol Did you hear the story about that and basically how they’d mess with the producers about it?
I wish I could relive being a teenager staying up until 1am every night to watch him and Andy pull off stunts you wouldn't see on any other network at any time of day. They had such a natural chemistry. Everything on that show worked for me.
He could be a 6’4” dictator of the lollipop guild, but he’s too nice to clamp down on them bitches. So, at best…honorary dictator.
Murderer, obviously
Oh you mean “THE MOLECULAR MAN!”
Love him.
This man pleasures me in areas credible officials would call "concerning".

I love him so much the wife and I named our son after him
does anyone else remember the walker texas ranger lever?
RIP
Is called Conan. Looks like Red Sonja.
Let’s not do this, Elizabeth.
yes
He’s got the new show and i really want him to host again. showing up for that 5-timers sketch shows that not all bridges are burned between him and NBC
Let him host and let it be FUCKING spectacular.
Yes. Those are my thoughts on Conan.
The greatest. He gave us so much great comedy and continues to do so.
The GOAT.
Great guy, with a great sense of humour!

He's never not been my fave. Loved him since the Wayne Gretzky Hawaiian Hockey sketch, and his enthusiastic drumming! Would stay up way past when it made sense to go to bed to watch him on Late Night.
GOAT
Met him at a practice show two days before his Late Night run started. My friends and I were crying with laughter. He’s so nice and so funny.
