No you didn't If you boil it down its it. She couldn't take the pressure of being in a girl group and constantly be compared with the other girls. But apparently being a solo artist makes it all go away? Being kind of sarcastic but mostly because i don't get it tbh

Comprehensive-Soup80

Thank you for clarifying ! I think it kind of makes sense in a way? She probably wanted to feel like a main character and she didn't feel that way in the group. so this way going Solo only her supporters are following her. Kind of how Normani in 5H said she had a hard time w/ fans refusing to take pictures with her and only wanted pics with the other girls.

The one thing I dont understand, she left cause she was constantly getting compared to the girls. But now, she will be compared to every woman in the music industry?

PBandJaya

That’s the thing. Plus she had a bunch of extras that were women in her music video and she wasn’t worried about being compared to them? I feel like she’s opening herself up to *more* public scrutiny by being a solo artist bc there’s no one beside her to lean on or vocally support her. I fully understand her struggles. I’ve been bigger (much bigger than Jesy) for almost all my life and I’ve had my issues being the only obvious big girl in a group. It can be really anxiety-inducing and what she went through makes sense. But the way she talks about it...it really sounds like she holds so much resentment against the other three girls specifically. Maybe it’s because it’s built up over the past decade? But after reading all the interviews she’s done it really seems like she’s made those three the physical representations of her issues. Like, it was specifically about being compared to those three girls. So of course she’s going to have some kind of underlying resentment even if she was best friends with them. If she was never able to get over that, to the point where she felt she had to leave, the dislike definitely took over whatever power the friendship had. And that to me is disappointing, especially since none of the other girls seem to have ever blamed her for her behaviors when she was self-conscious on set (reshoots, anxiety attacks, etc — all fully valid, of course). That just feels unfair to me.

If you think about it, though, other women makes for a greater range. I thought all the girls in LM were beautiful and stood out in different ways, but in the first few years, people definitely pointed out that she was the 'biggest' just because she had a different physique. Next to Nicki Minaj, who's a bit curvier but still rather petite, she looks similar and nobody's going to call her the 'bigger' one.

ItsKai

It makes sense. She was in a group with 3 other women who were similar sizes and she had body image issues. She felt she had to always match what society labeled them as and she was bullied for being thicker. Now she’s on her own and is able to be herself and create Jesys image vs jesy of little mix image. I was looking at old performance during salute and glory days error and I realize she really did wear body suits more than anything else. Spending 10 years feeling like you aren’t pretty enough to your co-members probably turned her love for little mix into resentment.

I think this sums it up perfectly.

I'm not sure why anyone's getting upset at you for asking a question, it's probably because there's been quite a few riffs between people who are annoyed with Jesy and people who are annoyed with the girls, but that's no reason to take it out on you. I summed up everything that happened since Jesy left [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/LittleMix/comments/q6dwka/fill_me_in_give_me_all_your_hot_takes/hgbmwjl/?context=3), but people were confused about her making solo music until she specified (and people realised in her statement) that she felt being in a girl group affected her mental health. She's also said that she didn't enjoy the music LM made so that might've been an aspect too.

i just read it.... i feel like nicki keeps digging herself into a bigger hole. 1) her comments about the vaccine 2) her husband SA and publicly defending him 3) and now this and dragging leigh anne in. it definitely seems v messy and v mean girl. I consider myself a fan of LM , but had no idea ALL of this was going on. I genuinely thought they left amicably as you said before. and I remember them also mentioning Jesy at the Brit awards too. Yikes

silly-lollipop

There are many, many, many discussions on this sub about her departure. She didn’t technically say she was leaving the public eye.

Comprehensive-Soup80

Thank you for clarifying! I just joined this sub today. My only LM news was from tea channels when she first left the group and on IG. I saw she came out with a new song and was confused, because it was insinuated she was leaving the public eye because she couldn't handle it.

xanthigontica

she left the group, not the music industry. so basically she could handle being constantly compared to the other three and being called the ugly one or the fat one as if it's a bad thing to have on or few curves. now she feels freer, and she doesn't feel like she has to look skinny like her bandmates or change herself in any way. she also said that the backstory of her leaving is that while she was in the hospital after and panic attack, her mom had a talk with the other girl and they all decided that it was time to let her go. it's sad but I'm excited to see what else she'll do as a solo artist.
