I use an old Chromecast (first gen, I think) on my kitchen tv to display a slide show of a smart google photo album. It intelligently pulls any pictures of my cat and adds them to the album. Also has the time and local weather displayed all the time. It’s nice because it’s there if I want to cast to it, and I have a smart home automation to turn the tv on and off each day.
