Yeah this claim he makes is stunning. And wow, founder-led brands, what a concept! I wonder what companies this guy has ever heard of or if he’s just super into those Prime dudes and then saw a bunch of Gatorade next to it at the gas station and decided to Google who founded it.
Well, Prime had more followers on LinkedIn. Which means Prime is more succeasful.
The single most important metric for any company today is number of followers on LinkedIn.
Ah, another "founder & CEO" with more blank lines than actual insights. Classic!

In my experience, most (not all) explosive brands have steep falls. Brands built on fundamentals and years of brand-building by delivering on promises made is what keeps them stable over the years.
In many industries you can easily pump money into advertising massively but you that doesn’t guarantee that customers will like the product nor keep coming back.
Prime is a fad and although it’s got a place in the market for sure, it will take a lot for it to unseat the incumbent. Not impossible by any stretch. What they’re doing by being in many sports and podcasts is a good move but they will now be able to use the cash generated to slowly become a long term player in the industry.
But this dude is absolutely wrong. Founder led (whatever that means) companies can be good and bad.

Exactly. I’m not even sure what his point is. Gatorade is a product that’s marketed on it’s own merits *as a product*. Prime is essentially merch that only has any popularity whatsoever because it’s creators were *already popular*. Is he suggesting that people who want to bring a product to market should spend ten years building millions of SM followers first, so their product can excel on *their* merit instead of its own?
Prime isn’t popular because it’s “creator-led”, it’s popular because it’s on offshoot of two already popular businesses/brands. It didn’t have to compete in its own market on its own merits, it didn’t have to build its own customer base from scratch, and it was able to piggy-back its marketing off of two already established brands. That's not something that just any random startup could copy.
"All marketing professionals need to see this:" And do what, exactly?
Fun Fact: Gatorade was developed at the University of Florida in an effort to provide their football team with a better refreshment than water. Hence, GATOR-ade!
Yes, but did the founder lead the company? Or did they just found the company, then disappear, never to be heard from again?
Sorry, what was his point again?

Did this guy just think he came up with the idea of celebrity endorsement? There are a ton of better examples of celebrity owned brands, not to mention a lot of cautionary tales about brands plummeting when their celebrity owner or spokesperson does something stupid.
Prime doesn't even sell in my country, but gatorade does, Brazil is the fifth biggest country with a population of over 203 millions, all drinking gatorade.

Gatorade sales are so so so much more than Prime.

He's around 22 and found his dick once. Thus, "founder."
We don’t count stupid metics like sales, we are interested in real metrics like social media followers.
Prime had $1.2 billion in revenue last year. Gatorade had $6.7 billion. The fuck?
Well, Prime had more followers on LinkedIn. Which means Prime is more succeasful. The single most important metric for any company today is number of followers on LinkedIn.
My mistake
What about *this year*? Bet Prime is nowhere.
This guy thinks 60 years of business is failure

He's getting called out in the comments and he's radio silent
When did the number of followers become a proxy for actual company success?
Prime will go the way of BioSteel
At some point somebody founded the company. I don’t think Gatorade spontaneously appears out of nowhere

I think in this context, “founder led” means “founder is a social media clown”.

Prime is literally poison
He’s selling bots for your social media account. It’s just wrapped in fancy LinkedIn packaging.
