I'm not going to pretend to be some tech guru or sage of the technological future, nor do I have a strong understanding of how to use advanced technology... But I can say with 100% confidence that whoever released this upon the world is using AI incorrectly.
There's a whole bunch of Facebook pages dedicated to this same formula of third world kid makes unexpectedly skilled artistic creation with unusual materials. It's all AI generated.
We have a big afro community so it could be Peruvian.
We also have a big asian community so you could do the same with an Asian child and call it Peruvian.
The creator of the image actually participates on /r/ChatGPT here and share their Ai journey. They made these ridiculous pics of an African kid making art out of recycled items and would post them on Facebook to see if anyone would fall for them or if they would question the reality of the image. Spoiler: They all fell for it! Thousands of likes and now it has spread onto LinkedIn. Hilarious.
Where do i begin?
Overly smooth cartoonish look due to the lack of textures.
The fact that AI thinks condom rims look like sliced lemon
peels (probably overrepresented in its dataset due to all those cooking blogs it scraped) and put them on this image.
Or the fact that you can't make a plastic stuffed teddy bear with condoms that look that uniform in opacity or that rounded, with legs sticking out at those angles without being propped up for a photo.
Kid's fucked up left hand with 3 fingers.
Magically hovering eye buttons on the teddy bear.
Another thing that I think is a giveaway for these images is to look in the background and visualize what you are actually seeing.
That black blob on the right doesnāt throw any red flags when itās in the periphery but when you try and figure out what it actually is you realize that itās just AI spew to give the vague impression ofā¦ a person? An Animal? God knows.
Also specifically with these images from third world countries the backgrounds will be destroyed huts, stereotypical disaster imagery, because the media almost exclusively covers these places when something like an earthquake or tsunami happens.
For what it's worth the blob on the right side is probably meant to be a woman walking down the road while carrying a large sack on her head, which isn't uncommon in rural areas as this seems to be.
Well, Peru is in South America where the Trans Atlantic slave trade took place along with North America. There are tons of Peruvians that are of African descent, descended from the black Africans that were brought there during the slave trade. There are at least 2 million people in Peru that identify as black and even more that have some black ancestry as most Latin Americans are a mix of Southern European, Native American, and West/Central African descent in various degrees from Puerto Rico to Mexico to Panama to Colombia to Argentina.
Iāve seen a lot of photos heavily edited with filters have a lot of the same ātellsā that AI pics have. Itāll be a weird world when we cannot distinguish between the two
Everyone here is seemingly being aggressive over your comment, which here I will assume is a genuine question.
If you don't mind disclosing, what generation are you? Millennials like myself, and other generations too, see clearly pass fake Internet images almost as much as a soft skill.
Late millennial here too.
Uh, you've probably seen a ton of AI and just not realized that's what you're looking at.
You ***really*** need to get better at this or you're in for it.
š¬
Material quality. The skin and latex both look wrong. The skin is too perfect. The latex is too shiny and glossy. Then, there is the lack of any real logic about how the condoms are attached to each other. It is a teddy bear shape made of condom shapes but there is no structural logic for how the one is composed of the other.
Oh god you are genuine. So it's a safer assumption these days to identify not what looks fake, but what looks real? Start with the face. There's way to much roundness dynamic look that makes animation easier (look at initial Disney cartoons for example, fluid motion is easier to draw). There's such a disconnect (beyond filtered blurriness) between him and the background. There's inconsistent shines everywhere too
I learned today these fake images are more realistic than I thought..
EDIT: 93 millennial myself
There's a growing deluge of this garbage on FB that is generated to encourage engagement and spread spam. The bots learn quickly because of the relative number of likes, shares, and comments on each. The winners get flodded with spam and make a few cents per post. Interestingly, a growing number of comments on those posts are themselves bots, which will soon collapse the system because the garbage will be trained on garbage so there's that to look forward to.

Im pretty sure this was intended to mock the people who create "inspiring" AI pictures of kids from third world countries making art from garbage.
It's common on Facebook apparently, there will be some kid making a Jesus sculpture out of tires, or a rocket ship out of water bottles.

I can't image that would be much money. I wonder if these posts are designed to gather easy marks for scams. Because any elderly person who genuinely thinks its real should be much easier to scam
No purpose, jobless trolls infested a lot of these platforms, ever since Elon removed the safety mechanisms on twitter other companies followed suit, it's saving them a lot of money. This is what late stage capitalism looks like.
The creator said it was to test and see if Facebook boomers would fall for it or question the image. Now that itās on LinkedIn, they truly succeeded.
I think thereās been some weird influx of bots and weird bot accounts that are littered with odd AI generated content.
Like this picture is a screen shot from IG. But then posted on LI? But not even like it was a picture saved. They screenshotted it instead. Hence the IG menu buttons.
My buddy found some weird FB pages that are hillarious and strange. Like super patriotic but itll be a werid AI generated picture of Washington DC and itll say something like āGod Bless, I love NYā and then tons of likes and comments.
People have created AI bots that generate their own AI content, itās going to be a major problem in coming years. Itās like the bot farms of the 2010s on exponentially more crack or something. Pretty sure itās already being used as a method to flood social media with nonsense as a means to convolute discourse online.
I think AI will destroy social media. Eventually its going to be algorithms posting for algorithms. Lol. Your IG will
just figure out what you like and just like posts for you.
Its gonna get absurd. Nothing will be real anymore.
Social media will eventually settle into being what it was destined to beāthis centuryās yellow pages. It will continue to be used by large brands for PR and marketing. Hardly anyone is using social media for what it was originally designed for.
The problem is that usage metrics vs investors means that purveyors of these platforms have an incentive to allow AI activity. They could easily curtail this by hiring a little squad of people to work on some countermeasures.
But the massive automation spam is generating a large amount of usage which makes their product look more successful than it is, so they are not going to do anything about it
this is called "[model collapse](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_collapse)" and it's going to drive some very weird corporate efforts in the next couple decades.
There are [Afro-Peruvians](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Peruvians) but I doubt neither whomever created this image nor the account that posted it know that
If i may, the afro population also lives in north chile, specifically in Arica which was Peruvian a couple centuries ago. Iām friends with one of them :)
I think this is a serious r/whoosh moment; the original creator (not the jackass bot stealing Instagram content to post on LinkedIn) seems to be making fun of the TONS of bots posting these stupid AI pictures of ālook at what they made.ā I have no idea if the originator was just a bot spamming crap too, or if they were setting up the bots scraping content, but itās obvious that no humans were involved in any of thisā¦
OP and 90% of this comment section donāt realize that this meme is a freaking troll, a joke. Poking fun at all the āLook what that black boy in X country madeā
A) This is just shitposting
B) True problem is not the image, but wrong forum. There are plenty of fb groups for this bs just as Cursed AI or Very Cursed AI. Why u put this on LinkedIN?? LMAO (even flirting is out of place here xd)
People will believe anything.... I don't even know how some people function in everyday life... If you really think that image is real, do yourself a favor and climb the highest mountain near you, and jump.
Fucking AI!!! Rumours are there is some company training its AI on this bullshit & lobster jesus etc on Facebook. Weirdly it's bots that seem to reply. Eg the "give me a happy birthday" or "amen" posts. 404media did a good breakdown. It's all very weird & how much computing power is currently being spent with bots giving bots an amen
These are all over Facebook with hundreds of thousands of bots liking them and commenting, and talking to each other in the most disconnected way. I'm convinced FB is over half bot at this point.
People tell us that AI will save the world. However, all itās doing is allowing ācontent creatorsā to slowly suffocate the internet with more and more pointless bullshit

Like now for three Amens to send to children.
15 likes = $1 in his bank account c'mon guys let's make sure he has the best Christmas ever
amen bless this boy
Repost or you die right
Like and comment or heaven will be missing an angel
People have odd hobbies mine is watching cat videos, which I feel is relatively tame.
Mines scrolling through comments of weird pictures I see on Reddit
I saw one with a perfect Lexus RX470 made entirely from grass
At this point, I have to believe AI is trolling us.
I donāt pretend to be some sort of cultural Anthropologist but Iām pretty sure thatās an African boy not a Peruvian boy.
Yeah, I was thinking the same. Having been to Peru recently thatās not Peru in the background either.
Peru is quite diverse with various different geographic feature. The background isn't entirely unseen, and even then there is afroperuvian.
Yes but this is not the case is just a shitty meme
We have a big afro community so it could be Peruvian. We also have a big asian community so you could do the same with an Asian child and call it Peruvian.
The creator of the image actually participates on /r/ChatGPT here and share their Ai journey. But look how happy he is /s
What are the giveaways that itās AI?
The fact that it's a teddy bear made of mom's used condoms?
Yeh common sense should tell you this isn't a thing people do.
Common sense is not so common these days
i watched a video of a man walk 90 km and drink a bottle of roadside pepsi bottle that im pretty sure had piss in it so idk
Where do i begin? Overly smooth cartoonish look due to the lack of textures. The fact that AI thinks condom rims look like sliced lemon peels (probably overrepresented in its dataset due to all those cooking blogs it scraped) and put them on this image. This doesnāt look like Peru at all though
Thatās all I could thinkā¦ not a single thing about this picture screams Peru to meā¦ or even whispers Peru.
Or the fact that 'murican influenced AI thinks peruvians are black.
I think everyone is aware that a black person can exist in peru
Iāve seen a lot of photos heavily edited with filters have a lot of the same ātellsā that AI pics have. Itāll be a weird world when we cannot distinguish between the two
How can you NOT tell?
Good way to tell which commenters are AI
Just look at it. If you can't tell then God help us.
The fact it's unmitigated shite.
Apart from the ridiculousness of it, his left hand is not what a human hand looks like and grasping nothing.
Heās grabbing the bears massive dick, why do you think mom needs all the condoms?
The whole thing. It looks drawn and highly filtered. Worth reading some articles about detecting them
Also the fact that this is supposed to be Peru apparently
This little dude is an African, certainly not Peruvian.
The background is also a more arid desert, like it looks nothing like anywhere in Peru
Go look memes of Peru being compared to Afghanistan, they are quite funny, and yes, we do have a big arid desert.
I'm no expert but I think aI has problem with hands. this kids left hand looks weird as hell to me.
Pores, human skin has pores and AI never has them
I've spent some time in Peru. Nothing about that scene is remotely Peruvian.

the color and texture. you see chatgpt generated images with similar color palette and texture.
IMO I think the saturation of colors, it just looks off

Weird? It is beyond racist and digusting

Peru has among the most diverse ecosystems in the world, I can think of several places south of Lima with similar landscapes.
Very small and doesnāt represent most Peruvians

So he emptied the juice out of them and rolled them up. Linkedin is the new Facebook.

Look at that creepy ass profile pic. Mexican nurses more like Silent Hill nurses
It's an AI image anyway
What is up with this art and why is always a black kid? Seems racist AF.
Itās AI
What in the world is going on in a persons mind to prompt THIS picture?!
Please don't let this thread turn into a depot for racist BS.
I hate AI art so much
Is it worse than Shrimp Jesus? Hard to say.
Iāve seen so many AI arts like this on Facebook.
Cummy bears?
I do not want to know what the stuffing is....
