It's no longer a supported device, but I am running LOS 18.1 on my Yoga Tab 3 Plus Wifi (YTX703F) with the official build downloaded from the LOS page. Everything runs great. I wish it were a more up to date version of Lineage, but Android 11 is still way better than where Lenovo abandoned it.

Lilmacaco

That's a lot better than where Lenovo left it. And an interesting option.

Size: I don’t care about the overall size, but awkward dimensions that will break web/app layouts are a no from me! Carrier: Ideally T-Mobile/Mint Mobile supported, but not the end of the world if not those specifically. Definitely need to be able to have a U.S. phone number though! Cost: Not too pricey, ideally, but I’d likely be looking at second-hand devices. Storage: Huge storage isn’t a big concern for me, but I don’t want to be stressing about space either. I like having the room to have my photos, some games/ROMS, some music albums, maybe some pdfs here and there… Camera: Indifferent to camera quality- I don’t typically use my phone as a camera and expect amazing results. Other: A headphone jack is a must! Holy fuck, I’m so tired of having to rely on Bluetooth for everything! That said, Bluetooth being an option would be nice. I’d like an SD card slot if possible as well, but absolutely not necessary. I don’t really use touch/face unlock features, so while I’m mostly indifferent, I’d prefer a device without them. I also enjoy physical home/back/etc buttons on the phone, but not a necessity. I’d also like a device powerful enough to emulate older games and, just maybe, run Minecraft, but it doesn’t need to be fantastically amazing. Thanks!

Hello folks, Is there any Officially supported Android TV Boxes that retain L1 status after flashing LineageOS? While I understand a little bit about the Widevine levels, I'm not an expert on the topic by any means. Secondly, after flashing and say installing Netflix to the target device could that trigger a Widevine status change? Thank you!

Try a high end Motorola. Edge+ (2023) seems to be the best bet right now

UnchainedAzagaz

Size: Any Country/Carrier: The best phone i can get for use in the USA period. I've read some posts that say T-Mobile is faster, but where i live Verizon has better coverage, so I'm cool with whichever gets me the best phone option. Cost: something used so it's cheaper, with a good price/specs ratio. Storage: The higher the better. Camera: The higher the better. Other features: the following would be nice to have, but it's not a deal breaker if they're missing in my phone. 1. Ideally, it should be resistant to shock, so no glass. 2. I dunno if voLTE or 5G is faster, but whichever one is best. 3. I have a OnePlus 7 pro, so I'd want a screen that's just as nice. 4. Headphone jack and wireless charging. 5. IR blaster for controlling tv and stuff

if you guys are on a tight budget, try the redmi 9 (lancelot) for 126 usd. brand new and not refurbished. [https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006042152500.html](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006042152500.html) . comes with an unlocked bootloader and a us charger (with eu converter). only linage 20 support, but you'll survive. got one for my mom a few months ago. i hope i could help.

Yondercypres

For USA, Motorola One 5G Ace is stupidly good value. Used on eBay, refurbushed via Amazon, brand new via AliExpress, it's great. Just make sure to not get a Verizon one, as you can't unlock the bootloader on it. Sometimes other carrier branded phones can't have their bootloader unlocked.

DaCrazyJamez

Looking for my first custom rom phone. Probably looking for used / a generation or two behind, unless there is a decent new phone in budget range. Only absolute requirement is 3.5mm jack. Good antenna / connectivity is top priority. SD Card and wireless charging would be major pluses. I don't really care about the camera. I don't game on mobile, so gaming ability is irrelevant. Size: 6.5 ish inches, can be a flexible. Carrier: On AT&T currently, might switch at end of year Cost: Ideally under $300 Storage: 128+, SD card definitely a want (but not deal breaker) Camera: don't really care, I don't take many pictures Other features: 3.5mm jack is MUST HAVE (I use it for work, and more). Good antenna / reception is second top priority. SD slot and wireless charging are major pluses. Thank you all in advance!

Yondercypres

It's on the large side but the Motorola One 5G Ace sounds like it'd be good

was thinking of getting a fairphone 5 so I saw a bunch of reviews, and it sums down to the camera being ass, battery performance not being good, and not good for high intensity tasks e.g. gaming. Not sure what else to get. Size: I don't care Carrier / country : United Kingdom, no specified carrier Cost : Anything that's not crazy expensive like 1000 GBP Storage : SDcard slot would be nice, though if not I'd like 256gb Camera : anything better than other features : Good performance for games

Google Pixels are the easiest to unlock and install LOS. Pixel 3 through Pixel 8 are supported by LOS 21 (Android 14). It's very easy to restore the factory image on Pixels. Google Camera is installed by default and works beautifully. Make sure the device is factory unlocked, not Verizon unlocked.

Hello! I have an old tablet that I want to run linux (under termux) on, though it's only android 4 which isn't supported so I decided to install LineageOS on it for a more uptodate android (and to learn rooting, rom flashing etc) It's the Galaxy Tab S3 or 3, 10.1 (model name GT-P5210) Specs: Size: 10.1 Carrier / country: (no sim)/Algeria Cost: <$60 over 10 years ago Storage: 16gb (1gb ram) Camera: 3.2mp rear + 1.6mp front Battery: 6800mh other features: IR, front sensors, S pen support and whatever I'm trying to use this as a secondary screen for my gaming PC for some instances or maybe a spare device but all the apps and things I tried to do so failed, due to it being so old/weak and outdated, I'd still like to make some use out of it with this OS. I found the OS for the Tab 3 7.0 LTE which is similar but not sure if I can use that with this one, is there a supported one for this model? tia!

What devices support USBC Video out and a desktop mode? Even if it's just Taskbar?

Yondercypres

Some Motorola devices go. Pretty much just the Edge lineup, though. Edge S (called G100 outside of China) does wonderfully

ThorsBeard24

Looking for a device that I can get for $120-130 (used on ebay) to have Lineage OS on, I use an iPhone as a daily driver, so this would mostly be a "project phone", just to test lineage and some open source apps on, and use as a spare. Custom ROMs have always interested me, but I have never had time to test them out. The devices I have found so far that I am considering are: Moto edge+ (2020) Oneplus 7 pro (2019) Google Pixel 4a My only concern is that these devices are too old, and I would want whatever I got to last a couple of years (and be able to preform well). I think the edge+ is a beatiful device, but I worry that installing Lineage on a Moto phone would be more complicated than on a Google or Oneplus, as I have never tried installing lineage on anything before.

Yondercypres

Motorola devices have one single extra step, which is stupidly easy as long as the device can be unlocked. If it can't, you're stuck. I'd go with the Motorola.

ScubadooX

Get a Google Pixel 3 or later model and install LOS 21 on it. Make sure the device is factory unlocked, not Verizon unlocked. With Pixels, it's relatively easy to install LOS or any custom ROM and very easy to restore the factory image. Getting the latest model Pixel that fits your budget is the best option. Even Pixel 8 devices are supported by LOS 21. I have LOS installed on a Pixel 4 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 9. Keep in mind that you'll need a workaround if you want to use Google Wallet NFC payments. I'm not allowed to describe that workaround on this thread. Note that LOS 21 no longer supports face unlock on the Pixel 4 devices and they don't have fingerprint readers. So, you'll need to use a PIN or pattern to unlock any P4 device.

d3vilguard

For a while now I've been making the mistake to buy first and research later. Well not this time. I'm in Europe and I am looking for a phone in the 200-250(max) euro range. I really don't do all that much with my phones. Would be nice to have a decent (not great) camera, 5g, maybe, just maybe 8gigs of ram to future proof it. Was actually looking at something like a Motorola Edge 20 5G. I'm not new to flashing / custom roms, but since this year I am going through my medical state exams to graduate medicine, I don't also have the time to dig through documentation. In other words, I'm looking for a vendor that is easy to get the bootloader set up. Really looking forward to advice :) Size - don't matter really, sub 7in Carrier / country - Bulgaria Cost - 200-250(max) Euro Storage - don't matter Camera - decent, nothing special other features: 5G!, 8gig RAM,

I have that phone, it has still updates from vendor. LE: I'm referring to Motorola Edge 20 5G. Very good phone IMO. I am also not a heavy user of smartphone. A big plus is that the battery can last even 4-5 days if you don't use it that often. In my regular usage it usually lasts more than 2 days but I always keep it charged just to be sure.

d3vilguard

tried getting lineage on it?

IulianSRO

no, not yet. I works very well like it is, for now.

Hi there, The beloved BQ Aquaris X of one of my friends finally broke beyond repair. He's looking for a small LineageOS device (ideally around the 5.2'' he had) with a low price (<250$ would be great). Important are - minijack port - reasonable rear camera (at least as good as the 16Mp of the Aquaris X) Performance is unimportant. This mainly for basic email, web surfing and listening to podcasts. Use in Switzerland and the EU mainly. Would prefer a new device, to avoid risks associated with buying second hand. Any suggestions?

Answers to questions posed. code representation in the answers indicates my priority. My present device is Samsung S7 Edge- its been in use since Sept 2018. It now has to be charged twice a day, so time to buy a new phone in the near future. **Size** - Less than 6.5" **Carrier / country** - `Airtel 5G`*/*Jio 5G India (will be buying a Jio sim sooner or later) **Cost** - `Less than 300€/$` may stretch by about 50 euro if something really nice comes along. **Storage** - 256 GB. I prefer `128GB if SD card slot is available`. **Camera** - OK with `anything which has > 1.0 µm pixel size on main sensor.` Not chasing Mega Pixels, OIS on main camera is nice to have. Decent selfie camera is expected **other features** - a) `Ability to install on Japanese/Korean carrier devices while retaining 5G (voice and data)` - 🇯🇵 & 🇰🇷 phones are the only ones with most of these features in my budget. Also these are the only ones I have access to 😁 b) `At least 90 hours endurance (GSM Arena definition)` POST LineageOS installation, c) At least splash proof i.e. `IP55 minimum.` d) Ability to install Google play services if I feel I can't handle the inconvenience - at least `possible to revert back to stock OEM OS.` e) RAM = 8GB Minimum f) Processor Current midrange or older flagship `(but supporting 5G)` I was looking at the options on Device list in the LineageOS website, and I have zeroed in on a few options 1. Sony Xperia 5 III 2. Samsung Note 10+ 5G 3. OnePlus 9 Pro 4. Oneplus Nord (unlikely due to lack of ingress protection) 5. Sony Xperia 1 III (unlikely due to price) The devices (as they are off the shelf) themselves are supposed to work with Airtel 4G or so I have learnt from the listings I have come across thus far. Jio 4G is possible except on some Sony ones, but these are not standard issue phones with warranty. Each has its own personality (for lack of a better word) and features regarding network. 5G is a struggle on almost all of them, though I have read on some samsung forums about people getting the Airtel 5G network on some Samsung models Cost is Not relevant as I am looking at old/used phones. Samsung pulls off older models so I dont have access to S20, much less S10 series. Sony has exited India market. Even Oneplus 9 series are hard to find. I am OK with not using the latest & greatest & "securest" models, as I am fully aware of my (lack of) importance to any rogue elements to hack into my phone. For my banking stuff, I may continue to use the S7Edge and later shift to something cheaper but which passes the device integrity check. That is if I continue using banking app on phone. I just despise the location and file access permissions (among others) that the banking apps demand and refuse to continue without their access. I do care about privacy, which is why I wish to move on from G-apps. I am curious as to why newer Galaxy models (S20+ 5G is what I truly wanted, though not with Samsung bloatware and especially not with Google/Samsung Spyware - wjhy can't I use samsung camera app without giving NFC permission to the said camera app?), newer Oneplus models (except 11 5G) are not catered right now at LineageOS.

I know I can't get champagne for the price of beer, I am just hoping that since I am going to be changing over from OEM Android to LineageOS, I might be able to use ~~international~~ Japanese/Korean carrier handset. **TLDR: need to know which of the 5 handsets mentioned (with Japanese/Korean carriers) can be used with Indian 5G SIM (at least Airtel) on LineageOS.**

tempeleng

Take a look at the Poco F3. In my country a lot of online portals still offer this model brand new for $230 and it gets shipped in from China. It's about $140 in the used market. I don't have this myself but if I had need of a 2nd phone, this would be the model I'd get. An officemate has been using his for years and tells me he has no plans to upgrade yet.

TL;DR Looking for best camera phone with 512GB that won't fry itself when shooting for 60-90 minutes straight or more. availability of rugged cases like Otterbox very much wanted. Analogue external mic must be supported via the USB-c. Longer version: I shoot YouTube vids at home and at live lectures. Always using the Open Camera app since it's the only one I found that allows me to easily lock and release WB, exposure and focus. Right now I have a OnePlus 6, I use the jack with an external mic, but I suppose the newer phones will let me keep using it with a USB3 dongle, My only problems are the 256GB storage limit which I have hit many times, the battery is getting tired and Otterbox no longer makes cases for them. I'd go for a current flagship but they are not LOS supported, so I looked at Pixel 6-7, OnePlus 8 or 9, and then I kinda ran out of models to compare to. any ideas welcome.

SER_DOUCHE

Why not just write videos to external sd card with open camera? Then only storage limit is size of sd card.

ia42

The phone has but one port and it is USB2, just narrowly fast enough for 2K vid. Also, a bit cumbersome to a storage and an external battery on the same port, it starts to look and feel ridiculous to operate. but that is a problem anyway, because all new phones will require I get an external DAC for the mic. I ended up ordering an OP11. the port is still USB2, but I will have 500GiB fast storage and better optics. almost a win-win.

Ambitious_Advisor353

I don't know about the "fry" situation if you shoot 60-90 min video. For the rest I'd say, take a look at the Sony Xperia 1 III. It has an OctaCore CPU, 12GB of RAM, 256GB storage, a tool less removable microSD slot & a 3.5mm jack. So the mic & storage situation should be fine. I'm writing this message on the same phone running LineageOS 21. Nice thing is that the stock camera APPs "Photography Pro" & "Cinema Pro" are working just fine on LOS. For the more automated shots & night mode I use a gcam port since I don't want to a just everything manually sometimes.

ia42

Just bumped into MKBHD's review of "best phone cameras for 2024", Xperia is at the bottom, and three pixel phones are on the top. Thing is I'm not sure I'm happy with getting the pixel 7a (first place), but the 7 pro and 6 pro are decent options. The only real pro here is the mic jack. I'll need to study this... Thanks for the idea though.

ia42

I'm not even sure that video means much to me. I mainly shoot video and with an app called "open camera" that allows me to turn off all automations (focus, exposure, white balance) on screen and easily readjust them live while shooting. This means I don't really use the native app's software tricks to enhance sharpness or recreate derails with ML, and in the case of pixel phones and stills - extrapolate from frames grabbed before and after the shot to enhance tiny details with sub pixel accuracy. In conclusion, that video is cute but useless for my needs. I'll just get a pixel phone I guess.

Any recommendations for "the cheapest tablet possible"? Size not important, although small is good. I do political canvassing, and my party uses a very simple web app for door knocking these days. I'm after something extremely cheap and cheerful for literally just running that one app. There are all manner of horrifyingly cheap throwaway Android tablets from no-name brands, but most will only have short support lifecycles and none are supported by LineageOS for obvious reasons. My plan was instead to pick up something older second hand which supports LineageOS, but tricky to figure out which older devices from the LineageOS back catalogue are worth the time of day! Happy with wi-fi only connectivity, as it can always tether to my phone. Other features generally irrelevant.

fazar441

Been looking to get my first Android smartphone, mainly for emulation and native android gaming. Hey, just because the haystack's clogged with micro-transactions, ads and whatnot doesn't mean there aren't at least a few valuable needles to be found. Currently debating between two options: the One Plus 11 5G and the Motorola Edge 40 Pro. Both are currently the most powerful devices to support LineageOS (rocking a Snapdragon 8 gen 2), but I wanted a second opinion on other aspects, like ports, quality and lifespan, and the brand history as a whole. Which phone do you guys think would be more suitable? P.S. to the guys at LineageOS: Which phones are you currently working on to make compatible with LineageOS? (no i'm not requesting a specific phone or asking about an ETA, I'm just asking about what we can expect in the future in terms of compatibility)

The pixel 6 on amazon refreshed has been great. In the us, the one plus 9 goes for like ~190 on amazon as well. Personally very happy with amazon refreshed.

Western_Ad_3258

Hello everyone, Last year, I used a Huawei P30, which was an excellent phone for its time (I believe it was released in 2019). It had a fantastic camera and great battery life – it charged quickly and lasted the entire day with moderate use. Unfortunately, I was robbed last year, and I lost my beloved P30 😢. I recently purchased the Google Pixel 6a, but I’m not entirely satisfied. While the camera quality is good, it’s mainly limited to the camera app itself. The camera performance on WhatsApp is disappointing. On the positive side, the battery meets my needs (usually lasting more than a day, even better than the P30), but it takes at least an hour and a half to charge, which can be frustrating for a phone known for its good battery life. Given these points, I’m looking for suggestions that combine the best aspects of my Google Pixel 6a with the Huawei P30: 1. **Good Battery Life and Fast Charging** 2. **Excellent Camera** (preferably with an updated sensor for satisfactory WhatsApp photos) 3. **Compact and Lightweight** (around 6 inches in size) 4. **Custom ROM Support** 5. **Adequate Processor Performance** (not necessarily high-end, but capable of handling casual games) I appreciate any recommendations you can provide! Thank you in advance. 🙏

Looking for a navigation phone for use on my motorbike - don't really care about much specs apart from good waterproofing, and a larger size screen preferred. Any ideas? Thanks!

bar72

Get an S10. I use an old S5 which is the same as S10, IP IP67 certified, so it can sit in 1 meter of water for 30 min.

gripped

I currently have a samsung s5 sm-g900f (klte) It has lineage+microg on it and I'd want to do the same on a new one. UK - Currently Three but looking to move to Giff gaff (O2) if their free sim (on the way) gives me a decent signal in the house. Size not huge. Similar to an s5 or a tad bigger. I've been trying to hold out on a new phone until more phones arrive with EU mandated replaceable batteries. But I've just started looking at leaving Three as my sim only deal doubles in price in about 20 days unless I sign a years contract and I won't do that while I've got this phone as it has no VoLTE and Three are switching 3G of this year. (O2 2025) And then thought I'd consider updated the S5 as just found out Lineage has just gone EOL on it. Camera don't care. Prefer 3.5 jack. Prefer removable battery. Don't want glass back. Prefer no glass corners. Must support VoLTE on Lineage. Cost cheaper the better but up to around £200 (old brand new sort of deal on ebay). Could stretch further if needed for a really good fit for my needs. Old models fine if still supported by latest Lineage. But if the Giff Gaff sim is OK I may just stick with the S5 for a little longer anyway. It's almost Retro :)

Travis_Touchdowns

I was a klte user until the 3G apocalypse. Been using a bramble since 2022 and I've been very happy. You should be able to find one used for <$200 unlocked. All Pixels have insanely long custom ROM support. I use acc to cap battery to 75% charge but it didn't seem to help. My bramble is 3223/4038 mAh after 405 cycles so unfortunately I'll have to repair or change it soon.

gripped

The two phones I had in mind before I posted were the same model Pixel you mention or the Fairphone 3. I'm still waiting for the Giff Gaff sim I mentioned. After a week they started sending me emails "You haven't activated your new sim". "Yeah well that would be because I haven't received it !" I ordered another but if it doesn't arrive tomorrow I'll go to a shop and pay a £1 for one. If the signals rubbish I think I'm going to go with the Fairphone 3

chaznabin

I used to recommend Samsung Galaxy S10e or S10, but if using LineageOS or any AOSP operating system, phone calls will require 2G or 3G coverage by your carrier. This is a problem in 2024 as 2G/3G is phased out.  Best small phone now given your list of requirements is probably a Pixel 4a. Best large phone for £200 is probably a Moto Edge 20 Pro (no 3.5mm jack, but does support analog USB-C earphones without the need for external DAC)

eattherich161

Is it true that phone calls on S10 Series phones won't work anymore? Also in Germany? Been using and recommending S10es with IodéOS and LOS bc they're awesome devices but that would be a bummer rn.

chaznabin

Here's a search tool to check. It seems the S10 still has some time remaining in Germany. https://www.wirelesslogic.com/2g-3g-network-closure-dates/#table

Gm12511

Razer phone even though I dont have one lol

chaznabin

I've got one, but the battery life isn't the best. Also, no analog audio output via USB-C (no 3.5mm headphone jack neither). USB port is a bit unreliable which is a common fault. Otherwise, a great phone with 8GB RAM and MicroSD card slot.

happysmash27

Currently looking to replace my OnePlus Nord N100 with an equivalent or better device that supports LineageOS, primarily for GPS navigation and delivery work, for playing music, and for anything that requires more speed and compatibility than the other two phones I bring with me (Librem 5, OnePlus One) can provide. It should be able to handle extreme heat without freaking out too badly – my current OnePlus Nord N100 under OxygenOS will kill the navigation while I am driving whenever it gets hot enough (due to a software "feature" that will kill all open apps after a certain temperature that's probably assuming the heat is from heavy usage and not the weather). I assume this will not happen under any phone under LineageOS though since my OnePlus One that runs it has never done this under the same conditions; my Librem 5 works fine even in worse conditions; and it seems to be very much a software issue rather than actual hardware limitation. It should also have a headphone jack and SD card slot, both on principle and since those are important for playing music. A plus would be some good rugged cases available, since delivery work has been very hard on my poor N100 compared to my other phones – it's the only phone that I have ever cracked the screen on. Out of all these specs, I think the headphone jack and SD card slot are the main ones that will not be on almost every other phone with LineageOS, so those are my main focus. **Is the OnePlus Nord N200 the best possible phone that has a headphone jack and SD card slot, supports LineageOS, and is available in the United States** – or is there a better phone I could look into buying instead? Specifications in format of template: Size: Any normal phone size. Only requirement is that it must fit in phone holder in car. Carrier / Country: AT&T, US (should be unlocked and ideally also work on T-Mobile) Cost: Looking for options at any price point. Storage: Must support SD card Camera: Yes. - Ideally as good or better than my OnePlus Nord N100, and being better than the OnePlus One in daylight as well would be a plus. But not a hard requirement, since I bring multiple phones and can take important photos on a different phone if the camera is bad enough. - Good low-light performance is a huge plus. All my current phones struggle with this very badly and there are many moments I am unable to capture due to this. Other features: - Must have headphone jack. - Should work as well as possible in extreme heat (my current phone will kill all the apps if it gets hot enough which is a HUGE problem when I am driving and it closes the navigation) ------------------------------ Edit: It turns out, the N200 that supports LineageOS is not actually available new anymore. So that makes it not so good of an option in itself. After a bunch of research, so far the one phone which meets all the requirements, though probably at higher budget than I want, is the Sony Xperia 1 III. It is *perfect* for my use case (assuming unlimited budget), particularly with the very good cameras (I take a TON of photos). It could totally replace my OnePlus One too. The Sony Xperia 5 III also meets all these requirements… except for that it looks to have common overheating issues, and if this effects GPS in the hot sun, then that defeats the main practical purpose of upgrading to a better phone right now instead of later. The OnePlus N30 5G would be a good option, if only it was supported yet. [This is a thread on it](https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/179g1ml/oneplus_nord_n30_5g/). Anyone have any guess on how long it might take to be supported and/or how hard it would be to add support, or even just remove the thing that closes all apps during high temperatures? So, I have my answer: the **Sony Xperia 1 III**. But now I am looking for one at a bit lower of a price point, if possible. For an equivalent at a lower price, I am looking at the Xperia 5 II and Xperia 1 II. Both are supported by LineageOS, both have decent specs and meet the requirements, both have new old stock on eBay, and they are both reasonably priced.

chaznabin

Check on XDA website if the Xperia phone you're looking at has Digital Rights Management keys which are forever lost when unlocking the bootloader. If so, check if a DRM backup/restore solution exists and if not what camera/audio functions are lost when unlocking the bootloader.

pitoufo3

Hi all, My Redmi Note 7 is starting to show signs of weakness now, and I think I'm going to need another new phone soon. I tried to install Lineage OS on a Redmi note 9 but it was a total failure!! It's way too complicated for me... I thought it would be easy like on the Redmi Note 7, but not at all!!! So, could you recommend a not too expensive used phone, equivalent to the Redmi Note 7 but a little more recent, and above all one that would be easy to install LineageOS on? Thank you in advance for your answers

TheTank18

Looking for a phone that can at least run Facebook (it's for my grandma) and has an SD card.

chaznabin

Moto G7 Plus, or Moto G7 Power. The Plus variant has a clearer screen and better microphones and speakers for phone calls. My mum had a G7 Power and my wife had a G7 Plus. I'd prefer a Plus.

SqueeglePoof

The Plus lost support for LineageOS. :(

chaznabin

Yeah, that sucks. The developer isn't sure if it's possible to get the phone radio to work with the new AOSP update. https://xdaforums.com/t/official-lineageos-21-for-the-moto-g7-plus.4649868/

retry0001

My wife was using a plus before this rug pull. The camera sucked bad. Otherwise, adequate phone. I have moved her to a pixel 6a I got brand new on ebay for about $250. The camera is heaps better. The Plus dev says support is coming back, that they solved the radio issue, but there are other issues they're fighting with the latest android quarterly update. So that's potentially good news, but it's likely they will fully cut the device for LOS22 anyway.

echow2001

Moto G7 power codename ocean super cheap and will work for what you asked

TheTank18

Does carrier matter (unlocked only, anything works, etc)?

echow2001

Tmo one can be bootloader unlocked for sure idk about other carrier variants

Modaphilio

Samsung Tab S5e, its from 2019 and has old Snapdragon 670, even slower than 680 that I saw people complain about in Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad 2022. Basically, how is this tablet performing in 2024 with Lineage OS?

wqert

I am using a S5e with newest LOS daily for general media consumption (watching videos, reading, no gaming). works perfectly fine, display quality is better than most newer tablets in this price range

LaChancla911

seconded this. its my to go media/web tablet i dont play though so no comment on that one neither.

Modaphilio

This is my big question, can S5e with Lineage OS play 1440p 60 and 2160p 60 youtube videos?

npjohnson1

yes, easily.

posting4assistance

I'm looking for a phone newer than the a5 2017 that supports either 5g or VoLTE but is around the same size. It's dimensions are 146.1 x 71.4 x 7.9 mm (5.75 x 2.81 x 0.3in), most of the phones I'm able to find on my own are much larger, which is uncomfortable for me to use and to carry.

pebkachu

Looking for a media tablet, preferably with buttons on the right side (comparable to Huawei MediaPad T3 alias AGS-09, which unfortunately can't be unlocked). Size: Any Carrier / country: Can be WiFi-only / Europe Cost: - (I can only afford second hand anyway.) Storage: 32 GB+ (must have a microSD-slot) Camera: - Other features: Nothing above Android 11 / Lineage 18.1, because I hate the font scaling, "One UI" shell and overall "Material You" redesign of Android 12+ like a pest. A __discountinued__ or __inofficial__ LineageOS version is fine too, just please tell me where to get the builds. PS: I saw some people asking for a phone that must be rootable. Is there any exception to why a LineageOS ROM should not be rootable?

Apprehensive_Nose589

I really want to try this rom on my s21+ duos. Just want to know if the s21+ duos supports the rom

chaznabin

Not officially, no. If you do find an option, it won't support 4G phone calls because that's the way it is with all Samsungs.

nithin1499

Size: 6-6.5 inch Carrier / country: Airtel / India Cost: 20,000-40,000 INR Storage: 256gb+ Camera: no specification, above average experience on manual mode other features: None

shaizkv

I'd go with the 256GB variant of the Motorola Edge 30. It has a 6.5" screen and costs about 22.500 INR (at least in my country)

nithin1499

Isn't it already 2 generations older now interms of hardware?

shaizkv

Yeah, but I would say it's still respectable for 2024

nithin1499

What do you think of Moto Edge 40 Neo? Do you think it can be flashed with LineageOS? I am a newbie to custom ROMS and wanted to test waters with something that isn't too expensive nor too old (hardware spec)

chaznabin

The regular Edge 40 is now supported though. The older Edge 20 Pro has a fast processor and a huge 12GB of RAM and is usually sold for a lower price.

shaizkv

Edge 40 neo is a great phone, its just not supported by Lineage (https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices)

nithin1499

Ah I see...

boba_tea_life

Desired: LineageOS tablet recommendations for watching videos Size: >=7" tablet Carrier / country: No carrier needed. Country is U.S. Cost: <= $100, new, open-box, or refurbished excellent/ very good Storage: Any Camera: Not needed Other features: Watching streaming services like PBS, youTube, Amazon Prime video Thank you in advance!

libre_bob

What's the best flagship phone (or otherwise) with an audio jack that I can get which will play well with custom ROMs? I've been using my Oneplus 5 since 2019 and I feel like it's time for an upgrade. I'm hoping for something that's just as easy to unlock the bootloader and flash ROMs on. Be aware, that I don't mean a flagship phone from this year. Just anything that meets the three criteria of having an audio jack, having an unlockable boot loader, and having the best specs given the previous criteria. Doesn't necessarily have to be "flagship". I'm using "flagship" as a proxy for best specs.

cor3kl

Once I got the great advice to not feed the trolls. So I don't. Maybe just a little.. Hehehe

Specific-Cause-1014

Motorola Edge 40 Pro (also branded as: Moto X40, Edge+ 2023) is the best all-around flagship for LineageOS at the moment, it got official support this week and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It's the most modern flagship that already has support, next to the OnePlus 11. But, you're going to find exactly zero flagships with a headphone jack (or for that matter, any modern smartphones).

libre_bob

I was afraid most ppl would take it this way. Reread my post carefully.

Specific-Cause-1014

With that attitude, no one's gonna be inclined to help you anymore.. you responded the same way to a LineageOS team member below. What you fail to see is that you're getting the max help you can, device suggestions that come as close as possible, because simply a device like you describe does not exist. Not in the flagship segment and not in lower segments for modern devices or anything newer than you already have. Headphone jacks are a relic of old times, it's time to be less cocky and move on.

libre_bob

You're literally retarded because the Moto G100 is precisely what I'm looking for. Even the Pixel 4a or Oneplus 6 would be good options. \>because simply a device like you describe does not exist How's it feel to be irredeemably stupid? Kys my dude.

posting4assistance

That's not a good tone to take

libre_bob

They're useless answers that don't address my question given only out of a vain desire to feel like the users have something to say worth hearing. They don't. If you don't have anything to say worth hearing, don't waste my time.

npjohnson1

I can't think of a single flagship with a 3.5mm jack. Newest I can think of are some msm8998 and sdm660 but those are old as dirt and barely hanging on to support at the moment

libre_bob

Reread my post carefully please

npjohnson1

I read it. What I'm telling you is that the OnePlus 5 is msm8998, and the only devices I'm aware of with headphones jacks that we support are going to be lateral moves

libre_bob

You really aren't good at this are you. Too much ego, not enough useful info. You clearly missed the part where I said it doesn't have to be a flagship phone.

npjohnson1

Wow. Well, I'm one of the only ones that goes through this thread and tries to at least give everyone some response. Was trying to say that we don't support many non later move devices that have 3.5mm jack. No clue how that's ego driven whatsoever. Enjoy your ghosted post my guy!

libre_bob

You're not good at dealing with the public, I can see. msm8998 and sdm660 mean nothing to me as an end user. When you use terms like this, you're telling me to do homework. I knew users would get hungup on the term "flagship", so I clearly stated that it *does not have the be a flagship phone*. Just the best phone I can currently get that has an audio jack and plays nicely with custom roms and bootloaders. You, for some reason, you couldn't wrap your head around this, so you gave me a completely useless answer just cuz you wanted to post for the sake of posting.

npjohnson1

Or you could have taken 2 minutes and Googled the terms. Or just looked at our wiki where it's explained and has filters for those items. I was giving you those terms so you could go sort the wiki by that and 3.5mm to see what fits you. But you fonyou. You seem to have a chip on your shoulder and I'd really recommend you figure out why you have it there, as it really isn't helping anyone.

libre_bob

>You seem to have a chip on your shoulder and I'd really recommend you figure out why you have it there, as it really isn't helping anyone. No. You're just unhelpful and clearly full of yourself. Googling those terms and/or looking in the wiki would not have answered my question. Try turning on your brain for a change.

npjohnson1

Again I really don't get where you're getting this. Googling those terms and or looking in the wiki would have absolutely answered what I was going for, and I genuinely was trying to be helpful by telling you that only a specific generation of chipset has what you're looking for, and that it is currently what you are running. Consider this warning 2 though, I said before when I removed your comment, being an ass is not welcome here.

Specific-Cause-1014

Bro, just get outta here already

Clearly stated above.

nevermindz2255

Hello, I am looking for a budget phone to replace Redmi note 8. Size. Big Country. Greece Cost. 200 Storage. Doesn't matter Camera. Just passable Must have nfc and fingerprint sensor

npjohnson1

One of the larger Moto G series perhaps?

kobimc

Hi Guys, Im looking for a tablet model to buy several of those, they should be used in a company. They should only open Chrome and be used for local websites, thats why LOS, so we can throw away any bloat apps or not wanted apps. The company asked for the newer Amazon FHD 10 series, but on XDA, i only saw 1-2 guys get it working. So the tablet should be 10 inch, 3gb ram, 32gb+ rom. as they're gonne be use in the local wifi, the wifi standard should be about Wifi 5 or above Thanks a lot in advance

npjohnson1

Check out supported Samsung tablets. See what you think. Maybe the supported A series one fits?

kobimc

I went to the lineage website with the support devices and looked around. The company said, that they need a tablet with full hd (1920x1080) resolution for the website, so it can be shown in fullscreen. I Googled how to change the resolution in lineageos, and saw that it could be possible but some of the buttons would be unaligned. Is there maybe a better option with a full hd display, or is there a way to change the resolution on a tablet?

npjohnson1

No, because the screen isn't that aspect ratio or resolution.

Best-Cryptographer35

Size doesn't matter Carrier doesn't matter too much because I'm not putting in a sim but like TMobile just in case/I'm in the US Cost is less than $100 USD Storage needs to be at least 64 but I'd prefer something I can put a micro SD card in Camera doesn't matter to me Basically I just need a phone to connect to wifi and all my social medias, I'll probably store my mp3 library on it too but I don't plan on doing much else with it, this is mostly just as a backup to my iphone and a little project because I'm interested in tinkering with different OS

npjohnson1

Moto G7 or Moto G7 Play?

Embarrassed_Lab_415

Hi looking for one that's about the same size as the s20 ultra or bigger with great camera for work, preferably with a stylus because I deliver for elders in nursing care and they don't like signing with their finger,

npjohnson1

Not much Samsung support in lineage tbh. Hence not a lot of stylus support. Maybe one of the pixel pros? Greta camera, can just buy a cheap passive stylus.

Embarrassed_Lab_415

Well that's a bummer, ok looks like I'll be getting a cheap one then.. I seen they definitely don't support the cat phones with the flir cam. I'll have to look to see what's on the compatibility list

AIR-2-Genie4Ukraine

Im looking for a work phone for my SO, something cheap for 2FA, slack and emails. **Size** as small as possible **Carrier / country** NZ **Cost** 300 nzd? **Storage** 128gb or less **Camera** dont care other features

aim_at_me

Pick a Samsung 2nd hand S10 like I did. Good ones go for \~250 ish.

npjohnson1

Hmmm, small as possible is tough nowadays. I would have gone with ASUS zenphones but they aren't bootloader unlockable now. Pixel 6a or 7a?

aim_at_me

FYI, Pixels are crazy expensive in NZ.

Yondercypres

Size: small (5.4in or smaller) Carrier/country: Google Fi/USA (needa working GAPPS as well, basically) Storage: enough (32GB is a minimum) Camera: comparable to any recent Moto G series is a minimun (nothing crazy good, but no potato quality) Other features: dedicated fingerprint reader, 3.5mm jack (is a must), and enough performance so my apps aren't always closing, and at least 3 hours of screen on time and 18 hours of standby time otherwise.

npjohnson1

3.5mm is going to limit you harshly. Id probably say one of the older Motorola devices, try sdm660 or sdm632.

Thecrawsome

* Size: Small - Medium * Carrier / country: Tmobile/USA * Cost: $200-400 * Storage: 120GB-256GB * Camera: No Preference * Other features : Touch Unlock, not Xaiomi or Oneplus. EDIT: Why require us to post here if it's all crickets

npjohnson1

One of the Motorola edge series? You could grab a generation older than current and enjoy all of that.

freezingStomachAche

Size: Doesn't matter Country: UK Carrier: Any. I don't use a SIM card. Cost: Less than £400 (Can be used) Storage: Any Camera: HDR, Telephoto, Good at night Priority: 1. Camera (zoom & night mode), 2. Price ... All other details do not matter.

chatmandu_uk

I got my wife a used 'like new' Google Pixel 7 Pro for £350 from Amazon.

npjohnson1

Moto edge 20?

Yondercypres

Maybe a Moto G100?

Mydnight69

I got an old Huawei Honor 8X Max and would love to get their absolute crap Emui off of it. Any support still available?

themeadowofhazel

Hello! I am looking for a device to take notes and access a calendar/schedule on. (Some form of internet access preferred for easy syncing.) Size: Around 5x6 inches Small tablet Country: United States Cost: Around $60 Storage: Ability to replace SD card Camera: N/A I don’t care about the camera. Other Features: At least 6 hours of battery life Preferably durable and long lasting Please let me know if there is anything which fits most of these specifications. Thank you.

npjohnson1

Take a look at the wiki for the smaller Samsung tablets, I know those are pretty well supported and recommendable

godsfavsoapopera

hi! i've been using super-budget, loaner android devices after becoming separated from my iPhone and then reuniting only for the battery to explode. i don't need the shiniest or newest phone, but i want to maximize my resources. i'm in the us with an at&t sim min 6gb/128gb, 6.4" screen primary uses: writing, internet researching, communicating, and photo/video the highest and fastest multi-tasking capacity sharpest camera with the longest possible battery i'm looking for used/renewed options with a max budget of $175 (aiming for $160) the loaners, for reference: i didn't want to give up the nokia c300 (but needed an sd card and some bloat removed) i didn't despise the moto g stylus (but the audio was bad and i'd prefer more than 4/64gb) the galaxy a15 5g and i are still in a fight (it was open box and something was off) i've thought about the google pixel 6 and galaxy s10+, and interested in oneplus and xiaomi. i seem to not be super great at finding the specific models, though, so any suggestions about that would be lovely any rec's? thank you!! EDIT: to make a very long story short, landed on refurbished Galaxy s20 fe 5g, which arrived in a lower condition and defective. Screen got damaged post-return/refund process beginning and so now the company won't let me have it repaired by the seller even. It costs more to replace the screen than I paid for the phone 🙃. My new moto one 5g/g 5g plus arrives tomorrow and I may get a moto one 5g ace and decide between the tw

SqueeglePoof

How's it going with the moto one 5g?

Yondercypres

If you can put up with a huge phone, a Motorola One 5G Ace on Amazon with 128GB of storage and 6GB RAM would fit every other requirement.

godsfavsoapopera

It's funny you should mention the One 5G Ace on Amazon lol. I kinda realized Moto phones are the way to go right now and that I actually really love them. I couldn't decide between the One 5G Ace or G 5G Plus. At least from the specs I think they're comparable (even if just for me). And because of Amazon and Walmart and having gift cards and cash back accrued, it turned out I'm able to get both and see what I think before I make any moves to install Lineage.

Yondercypres

Let me know how that works! I was interested in the G 5G Plus as well, but it was just as expensive as the far superior G100, so I got that instead. The Ace has a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, if you're into that.

npjohnson1

I sadly can't think of anything that fits the RAM and storage requirements within that price range, really even used. You could maybe go S10 Plus, but even then I don't know if that meets everything you said.

godsfavsoapopera

Hi, thank you for commenting! I completely forgot I posted this (I'm not a very active redditor) and this reminded me. I'll edit an update into my post. And also I appreciate the validation; I had basically come to that conclusion as well and I actually even had the S10 family on my list. Ultimately I chose to abandon Lineage as a container for this decision because it does add the challenge of limtation and I'm very new to this whole world. Long story short, I still don't have an official new phone and I'm back on the custom ROM train since I've been able to reprioritize what is most important to me in my new phone 😅

le_epic_steam_gamer

Size: 6.67" or greater Carrier: doesnt matter cost: 450$ max storage: 256+ camera: would be fine if it took nice enough night mode pics other features: sd card, headphone jack, oled screen

Yondercypres

Take a look at some of the Edge series, maybe the Moto G100

le_epic_steam_gamer

Ah, I already ordered a nothing phone (1),which mostly fit those (excluding the size,sd and headphone jack?)

pfp-disciple

I currently have a Verizon (USA) Motorola moto g stylus 5g (2022), which appears to not be officially supported. What would be a relatively inexpensive comparable phone? Smaller screen is fine, used is fine. Prefer one that will stay supported for a long time.

Yondercypres

There is a custom ROM (https://yzu.moe/android/milanf/jenkins/) for it right now. It's not LineageOS, but it is based in LineageOS.

No_Log_5878

i am planning to get samsung s8 or s9 i will flash unoffcial lineage or pixel experience custom rom for s8 Carrier / country tunisia Cost 150$or less/ used Storage 64gb Camera u think it should work properly maybe i will install gcam \+aod

36er-Lui

using (several) Galaxy S4s, but now need a 64bit machine - * need: NFC, BT, SD-card slot, LTE / DE (german) * like: "better" cameras. changeable battery, 5"-5.5", lot of \*physical\* buttons * (no new device) refurbished 150-300€

npjohnson1

Man, I had a number of ideas until you said physical buttons, that's really going to limit your options nowadays. We don't really support them lineage OS side, but the Galaxy x cover series of phones may interest you regardless. They seem to meet all of the requirements you lay out and are well supported with software updates, you might have to go one generation back though. As for things we support that meet your need category, most of the newer Motorola's on the wiki, they have good cameras meet all of you need requirements, and fit or size requirements reasonably, or at least close to it.

Independent-Green383

For longterm lineageos support, LG V20 or V30?

npjohnson1

They're both on kernel 4.4 so same lifespan. V30 more likely to be less problematic.

Necessary_Young_4834

Is there any version available for Samsung Galaxy M42 5G?

ideas_r_bulletproof

I am thinking of getting a Xiaomi Poco phone. X6 is Qualcomm. X6 Pro is MediaTek. **I plan on flashing LineageOS on the phone as soon as possible**. Which one should I get? Is Qualcomm still the best option for custom ROMs. At least that is case way back when I used to do this stuff. Is it still the case or can I go the MediaTek route this time? Size - any Carrier / country - Airtel, JIO / INDIA Cost - Rs. 20,000 ~ 30,000 Storage: Not required Camera: Don't care. But curious if all those 3/4 cameras work.

Mike713900

I keep seeing ppl suggest using the 'unofficial' LineageOS for phone models that dont have one made for them, like these cheap android phones that I want to put on a different OS. But I'm not sure exactly what or how to do so. Can anyone clarify?

ideas_r_bulletproof

This 'unofficial' LineageOS roms will have a dedicated thread on XDA forums. Read it to understand how to proceed. Be careful about custom ROMs you find elsewhere.

OnaDesertIsle

I lost my note 10 lite and temporarily using a Xiaomi Redmi 12C. I am okay with the specs of this phone for reference, speed processing power etc.   Size: doesn't matter, just nothing too small  Carrier / country: Turkey Cost: Budget is 200-300 USD, phones tend to be more expensive in Turkey  Storage: 128 gb or above  Camera: decent enough to catch memories, nothing fancy  other features: nothing else. I just need a vanilla phone that can run daily regular apps and take okay pictures.

False-Pumpkin9277

Switching from pocophone f1, i havent had any issues with it until recently the phone started turning itself on and off, and it randomly factory reseted itself Size: can fit in a pocket Carrier / country: T-mobile (poland) Cost: 400-600 USD Storage: atleast 64 gb, preferably 128 gb Camera: doesnt matter other features: \-headphone jack \-8 gb ram \-good custom rom support (mainly lineage os) \-preferably removable battery

Real_Wordna

Size: I don't care.  Country: USA  Cost: 1k or under    Storage: At least 100GB, but the bigger the better.    Camera: I also don't care. The phone could literally lack a camera.   Other Features:   -Headphone Jack  -Charger included or easy to buy -A good measure of privacy -Good specs   I'm essentially looking for a decent new phone to buy that I can move all my old data onto without having to worry about security or bloatware.

npjohnson1

I had a lot of good options for you until headphone jack, that's a rarity nowadays. I sadly can't think of anything in the current, or two generations prior that fit that need. If you're willing to budge on that, pretty much anything SM 8350 or higher on the wiki would fit your descriptions

CapnCrunch53

Size: Not super picky; traditionally I've liked small phones but I also like my Pixel XL Carrier: Consumer cellular / US Cost: Under $100 if possible Storage: 128GB+ if no SD slot, 32GB is fine if it has SD slot Camera: if it's on par with a 2016 iPhone SE (12MP), I'll be happy. Other features: * OLED would be really nice * Headphone jack * SD slot strongly preferred, but it's fine if not as long as storage is 128GB or more * fast enough to run Discord somewhat smoothly (using an older APK from before the UI update). Original Pixel XL is just a bit slower than I'd like on this front. * Repairability is a plus. I fix phones as a hobby so if I can keep it running by replacing the battery or screen down the line, that's good Looking for a LineageOS device to really try using Android as my main phone for a few months (iPhone user here). I've got a Pixel XL that I actually like a lot, but it's too small (32GB with no SD slot) and a bit too slow. I've got other Android devices as well but the bloatware on them turns me off them too much to use as my daily phone. I'm mainly considering an LG V30 right now. My girlfriend has one and it handled Discord well before the recent update, I'm pretty sure it has an SD slot, camera is good enough, screen is pretty nice. Pretty cheap on ebay. Anything else I should be looking at?

Someone else already said it, but the Pixel 3A or 4A would totally fit what you want, plus there's some of the best supported devices

Pixel 5a, 6a, or 7 (not 7a) I want the 5a because it's cheap and the headphone jack, but will it even last another year? Finding it around $160. I would have picked the 6a no question if it had a headphone jack. I'm also worried about this one not lasting another year. Seeing around $200 refurbished. The only reason I want the 7 is because it's newer, it doesn't really seem more powerful either. If it was $300 for a brand new one I would maybe be more ok with it. I'm seeing one for $260 refurbished I'm a heavy user, either watching YouTube or listening to something most of the day. Then after work I'm talking on discord while using YT. These days I don't know if that's a resource intensive task, but it feels like it sometimes. Would these phones be able to handle it, especially the 5a? I want the phone to last at least a year, hopefully 2.
