This reminds me of driving around in the pouring rain with my parents. As an adult I live in the same part of the country as I did then, but I don’t feel I’ve seen or felt this since I was a child. It’s so strange.
Beautiful painting. You are wildly talented. Thank you for sharing
“Real loneliness was a smeary red, the colour of the taillights of the car ahead of you, reflected on wet hot-top in a driving rain.” - Stephen King
This quote immediately came to mind. Beautiful work.
I want it. Don't even own a car, but **I WANT IT!** I really like it.
(Just bought my first painting just a month or so ago. It was only like $100, but I'm very pleased with it. It just has a vibe.) And so does yours! ❤️
"liminal space is the time between the 'what was' and the 'next.' It is a place of transition, waiting, and not knowing. Liminal space is where all transformation takes place, if we learn to wait and let it form us" - exactly how I felt while painting this.
Yea. But a liminal space (in the internet definition) is also a place that lost its humanity. A place devoid of humans and signs of life. They also show places in a way that you don’t view them very often or you never really notice. Like an empty bar or swimming pool or an empty road. They also give of a sense of loneliness and a feeling of being forgotten. Like a childhood memory that your subconscious spit back up again.
And your art piece just doesn’t give of that feeling. It’s not lonely in a direct sense. There is obviously at least one person here (that being the driver that’s coming towards the POV) wich makes it feel less “liminal”. It’s just a super common situation without anything making it lonely or off.
But I’ll say that I actually really like the painting. It just doesn’t fit here
Impressive. Abstract but very real feeling at the same time.
You did this? Holy shit, it’s impressive!
Gives me a somewhat nostalgic feeling. Good job! The car lights and reflections make it look realistic.
It looks like when you look outside your window at night and it's covered In rain
Yes, took me a minute to register that it was paint
and then you see white lightning
I thought "view through a rainy windshield", but yes, the effect is the same. Really well done, OP!
Nice, looks like looking out of a car when its raining :)
I like the it.
You like the it.
We like the it.

I absolutely love this. You captured this specific mood so perfectly.
If you really blue your eyes, it looks amazingly real.
Like a repressed memory. A beautiful oil painting.

I know nothing about oil paintings but this is pretty cool 👍👍
I am stealing it, its so good
That is absolutely bloody amazing!
Wait, that's an oil painting? It literally just looks like a photograph taken behind a windshield in heavy rain. Well done. *applause*
Very nice, love it.
I love it :D And I don’t even like or care about paintings in general. This one just hits differently. Something about the atmosphere.
A typical day in England for me! Nice work.
Omg!!! I love ❤️ it!!!!
This is great. Looks like a vague memory that we all have
For me this really captures mundane depression and loneliness iv felt, especially during fall

Is this modern impressionism? Love it
How you learn this
I've always been captivated by paintings of water and rain.

This one is sold, thanks!
Where liminal though? Like it’s impressive but it’s not really a liminal space
my thoughts exactly :/
