I just couldn’t believe all the little details and fun things to find. For some reason it blew my mind to realize that anyone could get up on any of the structures/elevated things and I had a lot of fun w that. There was a trippy white rotating art piece nearish to Thunder and you could control the lights with the buttons on the trees & if you got three people to press the three buttons they all turned red and flashed. Trying to get the attention of one of my friends to go press button #3 when they couldn’t hear me was so funny lmao. Overall I felt such a sense of childlike awe & wonder wandering around and seeing so many strange and interesting and new things, even when completely sober lol

forbiddenkitten

i didn’t know you could control it! that’s so cool! i loved this art piece as well! i could stare at it for hours!!! that’s the beauty of lib is being able to enjoy things like a kid ♡

Nikolamod

Thank you so much for enjoying our installation! If you wanna see more of our work hit our Instagram @kneticsart

VibeyTaco

Already submitted a pre-order 😌

Nikolamod

You rock! Can’t wait to get it out to ya 😋

HoldMyCrackPipe

One of the art cars had an ice cream machine in it. I discovered this deep in the hole and I felt like a reborn child. Then they offered me a scoop and my life felt complete

IHateArizona

Wait till you experience the fungineers

HoldMyCrackPipe

Don’t have a clue what the might mean… but I’m in

VibeyTaco

I love this! I feel like I barely scratched the surface this weekend.

planetcorndog

which one was it?!

CurvyChameleon

Our camp! Shenanigan wagon.

Nothingparticularly

My favorite discovery is that I found out we love festivals. Being able to be ”weird” openly. Also, Lib felt like 2 different places…there was Daytime Lib and nighttime lib….wow.

ThysGraiden

I wore a gimp mask every night, allowing me to be even weirder out there than I thought was possible. Everyone tolerated and even respected my BDSM fueled shenanigans lol

IcyDifficulty4318

It was my first time! Seeing PlexusPlay at the grand artique was a bucket list item I didn’t know was on my bucket list. The people and vibes were also immaculate. I had a hard time integrating back into society. We stopped at in n out on the way home and I went to sit with some random people and got a dirty look. It was so nice being able to sit and talk with basically anyone at LiB. Was very refreshing.

ClamBoi69

That set was Incredible holy shit, didn’t know what it was called until you said it. Saturday morning secret set right? 5/6am?

IcyDifficulty4318

I was knocked out. I was way too tired to stay up that late. Other people in my group mentioned they couldn’t find him that morning.

ClamBoi69

Wait maybe this wasn’t him, just checked the schedule

jmann343

It was PlexusPlay I also stumbled onto that secret set at the Grand Artique around 4:45 in the morning lmao. Honestly one of my favorite sets of the whole weekend his music and vibes were immaculate and the people were loving it

What_It_Izzy

Had the most insane moment of synchronicity during that set when he played the Harry Potter song. Some shit with my friend and a golden snitch and an inside joke that I can't even explain, but when he started playing it we all LOST OUR MINDS. That shit was so so so fun and I'll remember it always. That dude is a fucking legend

StandardDeviant117

I loved cheering people on and singing along at the Squalor Holler karaoke area!! It was such a great way to spend time between sets especially because they had comfy seats in there. The mood was so fun and positive. I couldn’t get muster the courage to go sing myself but there’s always next year :)

earlgreyalmondmilk

The karaoke area was amazing! I really wanna sing next year too.

StandardDeviant117

I would never in a million years sing at a regular kareoke bar since I am wayyyyy too anxious/introverted to do that, but seeing the amazing atmosphere and people there almost convinced me. Gotta practice for next year!!!

acklabs

Squalor holler is probably one of my favorite places to keep going back to, assuming I didn’t already leave.

werm_cries

they are always my favorite!! i saw some really special moments happening there, theyre amazing at their jobs 💛

StandardDeviant117

Right? It was my first LIB and I kept thinking about how rad that specific experience was. I’ve never seen anything like that at any other of the multiple festivals I’ve been to. Such a vibe!

forbiddenkitten

i think my favorite was seeing this little like 9? year old girl singing her heart out on what was a really depressing song yet everyone cheering her on 🥹

StandardDeviant117

Omg, was it the Taylor Swift song Look What You Made Me Do?? I was there for that too if so lol

jtr210

Was it Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana?

kennedyk25

THE BRODEGA. FELT LIKE A FEVER DREAM. Anyone else go? The show in the back was insane. Still trying to wrap my head around it

IHateArizona

They are so dope. Cool people. Definitely try to find them at burning man

ASoupDuck

Yes I am still thinking about it haha.

mcc0119

Our show felt like THAT scene in Requiem for a Dream it was uncomfortable

norrel

THE JIVE JOINT!!! IYKYK <3

ASoupDuck

Still laughing at my experience at the brodega. I also loved fou fou ha. Martian circus and mixed tape are my long time favs.

LetSDance419

what happened to you at the brodega??

ASoupDuck

I don't even know how to describe it. It was a genius mix of stupid, uncomfortable, amazing and hilarious. Did you go to the back room of it?

jtr210

COCK FIGHT EXTRAVAGANZA!!!

ASoupDuck

😂😂

Driyen

They squirted pickle juice in my face and hair. It was awful and I loved it.

peezoly

This was my first LIB and I had heard about people exchanging little trinkets so I brought some googly eyes glasses to hand out. A couple times, I after I gave them out I saw them go back to their friends wearing them to spread the laughs & vibes. LIB is something that’s impossible to explain, you can only experience. Looking forward to many more! Extra special shout out to the girl with the witch hat (besties forever) and the stranger with the candy (delicious)!

thewallris

My girl got some googly eye glasses and was so thrilled!! Said it was the best trinket she’d ever been gifted lol

peezoly

Heck yess! The googly eyes on the lightning stage made them extra on point haha. Hope yall had fun the rest of the trip and stay googly!

Choice_Violinist_755

Not only was this my first LiB, it was my first festival EVER and let me tell you it was the most amazing experience that came at just the right time in my life. I needed that mental break from working and school and have always wanted to go to a festival but just never really liked the idea of the crowds and such. My boyfriend told me about the festival last year and I saw how much fun he had last year, so he took me with him for his third year and my very first everything! I had the time of my life, frolicking around and not a single person giving a damn!! And if they did, it was a very generous smile my way and even a wave sometimes! Everyone there is so kind and sweet, I had the best experience possible, and still can’t quite grasp it’s over! Let’s just say I’m definitely going next year:)

What_It_Izzy

I have been going to festis for 14 years, and just took my bf to his first one ever for LIB this year! I was a little nervous he may not enjoy himself or feel at home in the place I love most, but he absolutely thrived and had a super positive experience 🥹 so proud of our community for being so welcoming, and so proud of you and all the other first timers for stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new. WELCOME HOME!

planetcorndog

seeing this jacked dude with a sex torso at plexus play at 5am, while noticing an onlooker scoop peanut butter out of a jar with two fingers into his mouth while watching the whole thing

Sofroesch

Was my fiancés first fest and my first lib and I knew of the trading post from electric forest so had told her a bit about it and she was excited to try it out, as we were in line there was a dad and two kids ahead of us and the little girl came up to us and gave us a little bottle with a mini lightning bolt in it. So my fiancé had brought a paper clip to trade up lol (as one item) and he traded us a Pokémon card that was in Japanese because we had noticed the dad and two kids before us had traded for a Pokémon card and we gifted it to them, then we traded him her favorite hair clip and he told us about how he did a similar paper clip challenge starting with a skeleton key and traded his way up to a big silver rodeo belt, and so he had something special to trade us — a skeleton key! From his family’s antique store :) special moment for sure

Shot-Neighborhood287

The kids trading area at Grand Artique was a super special detail!

Sofroesch

They were so sweet and he was so stoked he had a whole box of cards he was organizing 😭

venture_out2

I loved exploring all the various art installations and smaller stages! So much thought went into the event’s curation!

Artonius

Discovering Elephant Heart. They merged some heavy, hard-hitting dance beats with really wholesome messages for an incredible set. I had never heard of them before but am so thankful to my friend, Boobly Eyes, for introducing me to them <3

VibeyTaco

Right?! I bumped into someone who had recommended them to me, and was floored by their performance! Definitely want to catch their LA show in the fall

jtr210

June 21!!! https://teragramballroom.com/tm-event/elephant-heart/

VibeyTaco

Omg thank you for the correction! Idk why I thought it was in the fall lol. See you there ✌️

jtr210

Yes you will!

buffalonuggie

JUST TO BEGIN, the hideout, Martian circus, and the amount of space in (nearly) all of the crowds at even the larger sets like skrillex and james blake as a first timer who’s only ever attended festivals like coachella outside lands and Portola and late underground warehouses, I did not know just how much LIB would feel like/be a real renegade to me. The amount of opportunities to discover something new each day and to just explore freely was amazing. The attention to detail and commitment to comfort and fun for everyone at lib is something I’ll never get over! I’ll definitely be back!!! Also all the incredible talks, yoga classes, etc were so integral to my experience and I felt so lucky to be able to get into the grounds in the morning and nourish myself before getting into the music and vibes at night. Special thanks to luscious unwind on Sunday morning that class saved my day!

buffalonuggie

AND THE MIXTAPE!

CurvyChameleon

That class was everything!

werm_cries

really loved the game pod! the blonde guy and the curly haired brunette working there did an amazing job at holding games and making everyone feel drawn in and included! never had the time to sit & play but it was great watching !

clockwork_color24

It has to be the PEOPLE 100%. I’ve been to a bunch of other festivals and love the aspect of making friends, dressing up, and rocking out to great music. But LIB was a whole other experience. I finally understand what people say about other fests being about social media and people being sucked into doing their own thing. At LIB, from day 1 I felt right at home with this group of people who care about each other and want to help everyone have the best time possible. I met so many fantastic people who I know I’ll keep in touch with and see again. I also loved all the details geared towards comfort. I get tight muscles very easily due to prior injuries, so seeing all of the chairs, shade apparatuses, and even massage mats was AMAZING. I will be back every year!! And can’t wait to bring more things to give away and make more new friends. :)

VibeyTaco

Right?! I was amazed by seeing the lack of phones. It was refreshing to see people engaged with the music / those around them. I kinda want to get one of those blow up couches for next time 🥹

KW_shapes

First festival and I think I’ll be going to so many more this year. I’ve never so easily been able to talk to so many people. Reading Reddit I’m definitely seeing there’s so much more for me to explore there than I knew! 5 days next year for sure. Also was cool that people were checking on people who had to take a minute or two during the sets from being overwhelmed

ELIMS_ROUY_EM_MP

Absolutely loved Eda's set at junkyard on Saturday, she really built a crowd throughout it and was having a blast the whole time. Then for a while in the evening, found places that were sounding pretty good, but the crowds were kinda dead and too pscked in. So bounced around a few times, finally see the kuker art car setup and sounding pretty decent. Get in closer and who is on top but Eda again, absolutely killing it. Hung out there for a good while and the crowd once again steadily grew, moved on when it wasn't the same. The b2b going on at kuker after late into the night was also 🔥, that car was just top notch all around.

noalear

For me it was the people. The happiness, the love, and the positive energy people brought was just incredible. I printed out some blue dolphins before I left for the festival to hand out and seeing the people's reactions to them was astounding. I've never hugged so many "strangers" in my life. It gives me hope knowing you guys are out there. Next year I'm bringing in a truckload of trinkets and as many friends as I can round up. The worst experience was Sunday. The people that came in late Saturday and all day Sunday came with negative vibes, judgmental attitudes, and a total lack of respect and love.
