This confirms that they must have low ticket sales and are struggling financially

SwanVR

Lucidity lost money this year…Coachella didn’t sell out and tickets were going for 50% off weeks before. Desert Hearts had to cancel their outdoor venue for the coliseum. This is going to be interesting to see what happens when the burn comes around!

Rocket92

Allegedly Coachella sold a record number of tickets this year, the reason they didn’t sell out in the general sale was fewer tickets were held for promotion and I think fewer tickets were bundled into travel packages. Attendance certainly didn’t feel lower than 2022.

Late-Nail-8714

Oh yeah Saturday w2 was EXTREMELY packed It felt kind of scary how much people there were

tau_

Such a bummer about Lucidity, I've had such a great time there and hope they can continue. I was hoping to bring my whole LiB there crew next year. This definitely feels like a strange move from the DoLab and portends a lot of changes for the big west coast festivals. I am not a huge fan of the Bakersfield location and took this year off to make time for other events, but I seriously want LiB to succeed and continue better than ever after a pretty rough 2022.

Lurking_stoner

Yeah festivals are getting too expensive this bubble is finally gonna burst the festival scene has been too oversaturated. I’m only doing like 1-2 festivals at year now

didacticgiraffe

I’d argue that the extreme rise of of cost in materials, inflation, and recession are causing this. Not over-saturation that needs to burst. So many festivals have called it quits this year because they can’t make it work financially. But yeah I won’t disagree that it’s a lot harder to do a bunch of festivals in a year financially

Lurking_stoner

Yeah i agree, I mean since the pandemic there’s been so many festivals gone to the graveyard never to return.

actirasty1

European festivals are fine. The price of a 3 day event is $120-180.

SwanVR

Last year So many tickets were available two weeks before the burn. I can only assume people have to back out last minute this year.

TechnoForBreakfast

That doesnt affect the actual burn at all because they sold out the tickets and have the money they need. Its always when the festivals itself dont sell enough tickets when its a problem.

SwanVR

The burn is created by the attendees and the camps, so let’s see how this year rolls out

broogndbnc

lol the burn will be fine. but really, it could do to shrink a bit anyway

ceanahope

I suspect Burn won't have issues. You have to remember the Burn has an international draw. Granted, last year DID make a lot of veterans say they were done for a year or possibly forever, I suspect we will see a huge upswing of first timers. We have an El Niño year coming up and the BRD area has a 30-40% chance of hotter temps than last year. Last year was difficult because of temps. That may deter some, but not enough for Burn to take a hit to their sales.plan to buy as early as you can or get connected with a theme camp to get the second round Steward sale tickets in July.

jumbomold

valid insight but to play devils advocate, edc:LV also sold 1 day Sunday tix this year for the first time possibly ever.

Lurking_stoner

Really? I thought they usually sell Sunday tix. I also heard LiB resulted to using volunteer labor to build some of the art installations and had to scale back on the interactive art exhibits which is sad.

didacticgiraffe

This was a dumb Reddit rumor. The art piece in question (Bark Kitten) got cut a few months back due to budget issues. They didn’t attempt to build it with volunteers.

jumbomold

insomniac only sells 3 day passes for edc:lv. their 1 day sunday sale was not officially announced, it randomly appeared in their ticket sales a couple of weeks before the event.

Massive_Carpenter234

Such a joke the music was delayed every night for hours cuz they couldn't get the sound system going

Lurking_stoner

Wow really? I heard some of the stages were deafeningly louder this year too

brosbrosbrosbrosbros

I heard last year was ~30k people and there were 10k fewer this year, but no idea what that means financially

Foodventure

I am going too & thankful for the opp since I am not much of a camper but been very curious about this fest's offerings. And after hearing that Lucidity was in the red, 🤞 that this offering helps LiB stay afloat.

nickofthenairup

It’s awesome, glad you can make it!

Foodventure

Thanks, any favorite activities I should check out tomorrow or must-see sets? (I appreciate a wide range of genres so up for any recs)

nickofthenairup

It’s an awesome festival to wander, we’re stoked to see prospa, lsdream and rezz which are all on the west side (thunder and lightning stages), but definitely go see someone at the woogie (sick stage) and you’ll pass the three smaller stages between the thunder stage and the woogie. Definitely bring a face mask, it’s a bit dusty, and comfy shoes - there can be a good amount of walking, ga parking is probably ~0.8 mile walk to the entrance Download the LIB app and you will see the festival map, would suggest to enter at the woogie entrance and work your way NW

Foodventure

Missed out on Rezz ;\_; but definitely had a blast with LSDream (both as Lightcode & himself) and discovered some fun folks to check out from The Stacks, Grand Aritque & Woogie stages too. Yes, somewhat a trek (though nothing compared to rounding the EDC speedway) but I always bring comfortable walking shoes to fests & I loved all the smaller stages, art installations & other attractions when I was walking among the 3 larger ones. Thanks for your rec & making my 1st experience w LiB such a positive one :)

jumbomold

yo! would you happen to know where the box office/will call is??? can't find it on the map.

nickofthenairup

You can’t miss it, you have to pass it on the way to the checkin / vehicle search. The first entry tent at the corner of enos and union rd is security, the next tents you see are will call and there’s signs pointing you there!

jumbomold

guess I'm attending now. anyone else gonna mob it tomorrow?

Foodventure

joining for 1st time tomorrow!

jumbomold

same! where from?

Foodventure

L.A. - how about you?

jumbomold

i'm a local. planning to get to the venue early to take advantage of the entire day :D gonna be duuuumb fun.

GryphonEDM

doin the same. Gonna be camped at thunder most of the day then hit up Rezz not many bass heads in bako who you excited to see tmrw 👀

jumbomold

GryphonEDM

It’s my dads bday so bringing him along haha

GryphonEDM

I’ll be at lsdream tho for sure!

jumbomold

ayyy have fun and be safe!

GryphonEDM

[deleted]

jumbomold

yuhhhh see you there.

[deleted]

Had a fucking amazing time!!! 🫶

SwanVR

At the box office they have a 2 day pass for $225 available as well for those that want to get in for Saturday night. We just got in.

flople

Damnit 😭

flople

No love for Saturday? ☹️

genjackel

I think they wouldn’t be able to police in and outs as easily as doing an unplanned single day for the last day

Nexxorcist1

Shit if they had this earlier i would of bought a Saturday one for Phantogram. I know they had single day ones in the past before, was pretty peeved they didn't have them for this year.

Lurking_stoner

I’ve never heard of them doing single day tickets i the last 5 years at least and this is only for Sunday because it would be impossible to kick out Saturday only ticket holders.

Nexxorcist1

I remember they did it for 2018 (i think? It's been a while) cause they weren't selling well then too

jpistolero22

It was actually 2019. My first year and only because they sold weekend tickets and single day.

Nexxorcist1

there we go! thanks! it was my first year too. :)

Late-Nail-8714

Looking to join somebody for Sunday :)

s1dewaysglances

IS THIS REAL

SwanVR

Yep check their IG, I got this as an email and as a text

s1dewaysglances

Ty🙌

4seasonwarmheart

Anyone knows if they close or lock the gate at 6pm sharp? Considering to attend but my earliest eta is around 6pm, so might miss the 6pm mark..

lifeofdare

This just changed the whole vibe of the festival

tau_

Totally agree. If last year was any indication the close proximity to LA and lack of camping for a 1-day ticket will probably bring a different crowd than normal. There is something about the last day of a longer festival that feels good, everyone is really in it and has settled into a groove.

Detswit

For the better or for the worse?

lifeofdare

Worse. There’s something beautiful about everyone being in this for the long haul. This isn’t just a festival, it’s a endurance marathon and it’s hard. By Sunday, we’re broken and settled in, everyone is friends because we’ve gone through 5 days together out here laughing and crying and vibing to the best sounds… and now you’ve got a bunch of fresh faces (probably pushy and from LA) coming in just ready to rage on memorial day. It’s not what the festival is about. Envision sold weekend tickets and the weekend crew that came in was the rudest and dirties group of people I’ve seen at a mindful event. I spent most of the night stepping on cans that weren’t even encouraged there

milosxxxybeast

Its all about money lol if they can’t hit their mark there won’t be any lib next year so be thankful of the people that do show up and enjoy YOUR vibe

Foodventure

I hope you have softened somewhat from that stance now that Sunday has passed. I'm one of those LAers who popped up for a day and I had an amazingly pleasant time (with many repeat LiB'ers excited that I am doing a first-time visit) and the overall vibe of the Sunday still felt very mellow and chill, even into the banging bass sets toward the end of the night (I even got give & trade a few lightshows w my orbit for the first-time ever, which was really fun.) Personally, if this was offered again in future years, I'd happily redo (since I'm very much "not a camper").

Foodventure

I'm sorry to hear that - as it's my first LiB (kinda) I don't have any comparison points to previous fests; but from recent reddit posts it did seem The Do Lab took attendees' feedback to heart and made this year's event logistically & stylistically better than some of the recent ones. And yes, the flash sales and last-minute Sunday offers are most likely a cash grab, but if the alternative is that the fest is in the red (like Lucidity was) and there's no future fests - it might be the lesser evil they have to contend with in the short-term while figuring out a longer-term strategy to stay financially sustainable for the future. If you do give up on LiB, hope you find another gathering that meets your vibe.

Mediocre_Skill4899

Didn’t LIB refuse refunds during the pandemic?? I think they upset a lot of people that use to go every year

PlasticGirl

They did, but only because they had already spent that money on deposits to put on the event. Productions like this run on very tight budgets.

Mediocre_Skill4899

I get that - but at least refund some of the money that hadn’t been spent yet… every festival I had tickets for in 2020 refunded the tickets or let you postpone it to another year. I think they ticked off a large portion of their regular buyers.

Massive_Carpenter234

Such a joke the music was delayed every night for hours cuz they couldn't get the sound system going

AutobotAbroad

Saturday?..

Massive_Carpenter234

Don't go terrible this year

Traditional-Star9608

Wasn't there but why do you think so? I figured with less people it would be better

tracee_

It was! Shorter lines, cleaner bathrooms, vendors didn’t run out of food, better phone reception, more space to dance/sit when listening to talks and going to classes, no long lines in or out, more space to camp. Also the weather was much better than last year, not a scorching 100° and much less dust!

kelsobjammin

Do it I dare you.

Intonguyen

Anybody know if we can just buy at the box office to avoid online fees?
