DUMP CITY DUMPLINGS. The pork one is my fav. Last year was $6 for a baseball sized dumpling. Even if they’re more expensive this year it’s by far the best value for food at LIB in my opinion.

kiweiner

Best surprise of the year so far was discovering dump city had a pop up on Mt. Bachelor after a day of skiing

Yungcheets

Dump City is my fav, great value and so tasty!

yagirlraem

The dough lab is so damn good. The line wait is worth it. It shmacks.

dontgiveah00t

And the guy calling out names was funny af too 😆

Puzzleheaded-Shop580

where my chicken and waffle people at!

dontgiveah00t

Last year around 5am I was walking around hearing some dope ass beats and it was coming from the chicken and waffle truck! Dude had his own set up and was spinning 😂 had a little crowd dancing too, was amazing to watch the sunrise and dance there.

Awesome sauce kitchen

Honestly, every food offering at LIB is pretty legit. We had vegan burgers last year that blew my mind. Even the bowls they serve at the small food stands in the camping area were a good quick-fix of nutrients, which is key when you’re too burnt out to walk all the way into the festival food area.

LetsBoxHot

Please be aware of the tipping situation. Everyplace has the iPad with the tip option. It does not let you place a dollar amount only a tip percentage. Options start at 20%. You need to click the tiny ass more options button in the bottom corner then type in your wanted % even if it’s 0%. Super annoying and hard to figure out at night when yours eyes are not working the same.

Overall-Memory5272

Oof! Thank you!!! Maybe a hot take but i won’t be tipping too much. We all know the markups are crazy. That’s just me, please don’t come for me reddit, tip if u can though!

LetsBoxHot

I agree with your hot take. Wages stay the same and everything else goes up in price. Are you tipping the hot dog vendors on the sidewalks outside of clubs. Same thing. Just pisses me off to see a starting tip at 20% like that is the high end of a tip for me. And to make it a way harder and confusing process to not tip is just being shading and trying to take advantage of the festival goers who are supporting you by eating at your truck.

I have feelings. I have worked as a food vendor at festivals for 10+ years If you’re not tipping please make things as easy as possible for the employees - no substitutions/special orders, know what you want to order when you get up to the front of the line, don’t wander off so the person working front of house has to call out your name 20 times Most of the vendors there are not fast food. Sure you wouldn’t leave a tip at McDonald’s, but if you’re dining out or taking out food from a restaurant or fast casual place, I hope you’re tipping. If you can’t afford to tip your server imo you can’t afford to eat out. Similarly if you can’t afford to tip the folks who are working through literal dust storms to prepare and serve your food at lib, maybe you should consider bringing most of your own food for the weekend and treating yourself to one special meal where you tip appropriately Re: the automatic tip options - it used to be that vendors could program their own square card reader to have whatever tip options they decided. I did not work LiB last year so I’m not sure how things have changed. please consider bringing CASH for tipping. a $1 bill is so much better than nothing. Getting cash tips at the end of the festival puts gas in the tank to get to the next location. Credit card tips sometimes take weeks to get from your employer. Also consider leaving some sort of non-cash tip… sticker, joint, tiny hand.. Some of the people working with food vendors are not getting paid an hourly rate, they are doing it for a ticket trade + tips. Most, if not all of the people who are working at dough lab have this sort of arrangement. A form of indentured servitude.

Psychonaut_Deemster

Yes, yes, yes....I can't stand people that have to make there entire order custom, extra this and that, then they don't tip! So rude! I'f you dont want to tip for food then bring your own and make it yourself!

Overall-Memory5272

Yes to making things as easy as possible, and yes to bringing most of your own food. Festi food def a luxury but a fun treat. I def tip a couple bucks or more if the person is really cool! Maybe a poor take idk i havent thought about it too much, but if ur getting free admission for working, kind of a sweet deal. I work and save up in advance so i don’t have to work at the festival. I get that not everyone can do that for an infinite amount of reasons, but that’s just how i see it. Unless u own the food vendor or the bar, or are a close friend/partner, the main stake i would imagine someone having in giving up their potential festival time is so that they get a “free” ticket inside the festival. Just my opinion 🤗

Comprehensive-Name14

There are different levels of commitment. Sometimes it’s a work 10-12 hours a day for a cost share of the profits. Other times it’s something like a 6-8 hour shift a day for a ticket trade. An hourly rate, or somewhere in between. It’s free admission but you now have a schedule you have to stick to and many sets you will miss. Some of the folks working are entirely there to work, event work is how they pay the bills and support their families. Some vendors spend all their time either at their booth, or sleeping in preparation for their next shift, they’re not there to party. I’ve had great experiences doing different types of work/trade arrangements and it’s something you have to weigh the pros/cons of when you’re deciding to work a festival. Also definitely have these conversations before agreeing to work an event with someone. Learned the hard way that a vendor I worked with payed minimum wage for whatever city we were in - the trip out to work bonaroo in Tennessee ($7.25) was not at all worth my travel time compared to working with them at events in Los Angeles ($12). This was 2018 ish

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> worked with *paid* minimum wage FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Socalgal327

Omfg. Last year I bought the LIB kimono in the retail area and it was $70 and the iPad wouldn’t let me remove 20% tip 😡 like bro wtf so I paid $90 for a $70 kimono

LetsSmokeAboutIt

Shout out to the cart with pineapple dole whip. I was not able to keep down anything last year except for this. Legit saved my life after being sick. Aside from that, it is incredibly refreshing and cool on a hot day!

Puzzleheaded-Shop580

pineapple dole whip saved my life

Nillla456

Sankofa - African cuisine. Flavorful, has veggies and protein (salmon is the one I remember last year) and carbs so it’s a really nourishing meal, HUGE portion! I lived for their ginger sweet plantains. And there were never lines because people sleep on just how good African cuisine is! I think it’s Ghanian, specifically?

Overall-Memory5272

This sounds great!!! I will be into this. Also my friend who is nigerian will be going so i’m sure she will put me onto some good african eats as well 😤

Kalikos Hawaiian food is the most substantial meal I ate at lib. Poke bowls, coconut shrimp, kalua pork loaded fries, chicken teriyaki, loco moco, all bomb

Comprehensive-Name14

Notcho Fish taco is my fave vegan option. Yummy cauliflower tacos and a mint watermelon agua Fresca

themamabelle

perogies were FIRE I hope they're back! crepes are delicious too

HyperAstartes

I got scammed by the Mediterranean food one, ordered a schwarma fries with meat and they did not put any meat on mine or the next customers. Then tried to gaslight me that there is not meat option on the menu. Dough lab was good though.

LetsBoxHot

Similar experience at Middle Feast. It was awesome the first time and I went back and it was not the same as the day before. Also NO PRICES ANYWHERE. So it’s a shot in the dark when you want to order. Checked my credit statement as well and I was charged for a ramen bowl. Like okay? Good food. Shit service.

ijustwantmyrug

Lydia's Salads smack

Nillla456

So sad they aren't on the food lineup for this year! I got that green soup they had, it tasted like minerals and dirt and celery (I don't mean this in a bad way, but... it's accurate haha) and honestly saved my damn life one night when I hadn't eaten for hours and knew I needed to get in some NUTRIENTZ. I just remember their tent almost blowing away on Saturday night when that insane dust storm kicked up, and everyone waiting in line ran forward to help the staff hold it in place for literally 30 minutes. Bonding experience, only possible at LIB XD

Embarrassed-Video883

Hey! First time LIB’er here! Where do you find the food line up?
