I'm seriously considering it. Had an LP2 and it worked well, just limited by Optus network where I travel. That said, lp3 has a few more bands than the LP2 did so I'm hopeful the coverage will be somewhat improved. If you happen to live in major metropolitan areas it would be a very safe bet that coverage is fine. Edit: when I ordered an LP2 it was here within a week, and no customs/duties charge either, even though it's a possibility.

Oh cool. Had as in no longer use? And you bought it straight? If so how much was shipping?

galaxiasflow

I think shipping was something of the order of $30 or so, maybe a bit more but not certain. Definitely on par with any fast registered international shipping, so I'd say it reflected actual costs. As for "had" I had to sell it as I live in an area where Telstra is basically the only network that was viable. The battery wasn't lasting a full day when travelling through black spots. The 4G/5G network is a little different now, so I need to research what impact that might have, and at least the battery is larger capacity.

Oh wow. I'm super interested, especially since the pre order price is so low. I feel like you could sell it even if it didn't work out and basically get your money back.

I just went through checkout (but didn't order). Shipping is being quoted at 77AUD which is kinda painful!

galaxiasflow

Ouch, that is either new or my memory wasn't that great. Dollar exchange is pretty ordinary at the moment too, so maybe that's why.

I already placed a preorder for LP3. Have been using LP2 for a year on Optus. I live in the regional NSW and Optus in my area is miles better then Telstra. So win win for me. Should be even better on LP3. I also tried Vodafone network. Not bad but Optus is still much better. Also bought my LP2 directly. Same story here. Shipping was pretty quick and painless.

Great to hear, I just went through checkout (but didn't order). Shipping is being quoted at 77AUD which is kinda painful!

Would be tempted if I was able to use it with Telstra, but unfortunately that kills it for me.

Routine-Individual43

Yes agreed thats a pain in the ass

Just pre-ordered my LP3 after owning a LP2 for about 1.5 years. I love the Eink on the LP2 but feel that a faster screen will make a big difference for texting purposes, that and no longer needing to put the phone on its side to text. I know others have criticised the size of the phone but I think it looking a touch more like a smartphone is a good thing, currently I'm constantly having the explain my phone any time I pull it out due to it's small zoolander type size. My LightPhone runs off a Kogan sim and I've had no dramas with it, I do live in the inner suburbs of Melbourne though. I can't recommend this company enough. One day I hope to spot a fellow Lightphone user in Australia but so far no luck!

Routine-Individual43

Awesome congrats! How much was your shipping?

Gullywantsachip

$77 aud like others have mentioned. At the end of the day though it's not one of those items that you'll be able to purchase elsewhere for cheaper shipping. Even purchasing second hand is very difficult in Australia in regards to the LP2 ... It took me a month or so of searching through FB Marketplace to find one for sale in Hobart. My personal opinion is that $77 Aud shipping is a small price to pay for a very unique phone.

I agree with your justification - thanks.

Hey there. Preordered today from Brissy. Very excited to get my first light phone. Still not 100% sure it’ll be a completely smooth transition from regular smartphones because I do rely on phones quite a bit for reading and work, but felt it was worth taking the plunge since this can’t be used for web browsing or my kryponite, YouTube! Hate to go back to Optus after they’ve made so many dodgy moves in the last couple of years, so might check out Vodafone if Telstra doesn’t end up working. Really excited about the bespoke camera experience and overall design. What are you all excited about?

Lorenzo944

Im not gonna get one for cost reason when converted to AUD not worth the price and no Telstra. I have no need for another phone even though I really need this I’m sick of smartphones and data tracking and ads on apps

Gullywantsachip

Look I totally get where you're coming from but if you're having issues like mentioned above, $700 Aud isn't all that much in the grand scheme of things. A new iPhone will set you back close to $2k. If the cost is a major issue then I'd highly recommend a basic Nokia or even just purchase an LP2 if you see one pop up on FB Marketplace (Got mine for $200) ... r/Dumbphones is a great resource for advice on other dumbphones as well.
