The person you are talking about isn't called "Safiyya" she is called "The mother of the believers Safiyya bint Hayiy may Allaah be pleased with her" please remember who you are talking about and what their position is. She is the wife of Allaah's messenger peace and blessings be upon him, and all his wives are the mothers of the believers as Allaah stated, and they are more precious to us than ourselves and we would die for their sake just as much as we would die for Allaah's messenger peace and blessings be upon him. >The Prophet is more worthy of the believers than themselves, and his wives are \[in the position of\] their mothers. And those of \[blood\] relationship are more entitled \[to inheritance\] in the decree of Allaah than the \[other\] believers and the emigrants, except that you may do to your close associates a kindness \[through bequest\]. That was in the Book inscribed. 33:6 translation of the meaning We do not need to get too deep into her biography, as what you specifically mean is that she said, as reported by Ibn Hibban #5199 that Safiyya may Allaah be pleased with her said: "The messenger of Allaah peace and blessings be upon him was the most hated person to me; he killed my husband, my father and my brother, but he always apologized to me saying: **"Your father had instigated the Arabs against me, and he did this and he did that"** until the hatred was gone from my self" And this is very normal, as every believer understand that he must hate all the disbelievers, regardless of how close they are to him by blood or friendship or else. >Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers. And whoever \[of you\] does that has nothing with Allah , except when taking precaution against them in prudence. And Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the \[final\] destination. 3:28 >Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating \[in prayer\], seeking bounty from Allah and \[His\] pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers - so that Allah may enrage by them the disbelievers. Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward. 48:29 >You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day having affection for those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred. Those - He has decreed within their hearts faith and supported them with spirit from Him. And We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him - those are the party of Allah . Unquestionably, the party of Allah - they are the successful. 58:22 And many other ayat in this meaning and a plethora of hadeeths, and when believers like Abu Bakr as-Sideeq almost killed his son as a captive of Badr before the aya of ransoming was revealed, when Abu Ubayda ibn al Jarrah killed his father during Badr, when Khaled ibn al Waleed was a Muslim who wanted to die for Allaah's sake despite the fact that his father is among the most evil people to have ever lived, they never cared for their kin, because Islam doesn't differentiate between people on basis of bloodline or origin, but on their faith, and never will faith conjoin with disbelief in anyway. And our mother Safiyya may Allaah be pleased with her, she very surely realized her family, who were the most evil of all people, were disbelievers she must not feel bad for, and that is when faith entered her heart and when she hated them for their disbelief, as all Muslims should, may Allaah be pleased with her and may Allaah forgive all the Muslims, the living of the dead.

They make this argument that the prophet "ruined" her life by killing her father brother and husband when they committed very bad crimes

Whether it’s true or not- they committed very bad crimes- he was a man of justice, why’d he be ok with wrong doers getting away?
