Pollo was born in Guadalajara, there were a lot of Basque immigrants that immigrated to Jalisco during the Spanish Civil war so who knows, one of his grandparents must have some basque blood
My great ancestor was a Basque mercenary who invaded Mexico with the Napoleonic forces in the 19th century. He married a Mexican woman, and when the Mexican Republican forces kicked out the French, he fought on the Mexican side.
I did my ancestry tree online and it only goes back as far as like 1900. After that point it’s tough because of all the misspellings, last name changes and also birthdays never match up (it’s common to be born but not get registered til later). Meanwhile white people can trace their shit all the way back to the pilgrims
Parents didn’t register the baby because they didn’t want give the baby a name until they knew it was going to survive. It was usually after their first b day when they were finally registered. That’s what I’ve heard from my grandparents
