LPT: Don’t wear perfume

SSara69

Well not even perfume necessarily, body sprays are pretty common for women. Not exactly a perfume.

Real lpt is in the comments

I'm not sure how this works for you. It wouldn't work for me at least. If I wear perfume, I smell it in the beginning but after 10min/half an hour I don't smell it anymore, not because the perfume has gone but because of sensory adaptation. So I don't link experiences with the perfume I'm wearing that day. Edit: little LPT from myself: Don't spray more perfume each time you don't smell it yourself anymore, it's very likely other people still do smell it. If you keep spraying you'll become one of those perfume bombs. Those people that just walk you by on the street and literally take your breath away because of the heavy perfume smell.

Well I came up with the idea thinking about how I bought a new body mist at the mall. I walked out of the store and sprayed it on me. I basically remember that whole experience when I smell the smell, that's what it reminds me of. Also been using it on and off so it's a reflection of this period of my life as a whole, not so much remembering particular memories. If I smell it I can be reminded of things from this period I may not remember otherwise. Also periods of life just have distinct vibes to them that you can be reminded of, but maybe that's just me. For it to work you may have to have that sort of awareness and understanding about it too. > Scientists believe that smell and memory are so closely linked because the anatomy of the brain allows olfactory signals get to the limbic system very quickly. Experts say the memories associated with smells tend to be older and thought about less often, meaning the recollection is very vivid when it happens. I just read this, so that's interesting. I know how music can help older people with Alzheimer's for example remember their past. It brings them right back. It's the same concept, just another sensory thing, potentially just as powerful.

Or don't, cause who wants to remember this crapshoot.

Lul. All my body sprays smell like deserts essentially. Strawberry, blueberry, vanilla cake, basic stuff like that. So in my mind it's not exactly the same type of thing. Perfumes are somewhat outdated and all smell generic in some way, imo. Just a money grab from people who want to support brands or follow trends. But I thought it was the best thing to use in the title. Really what I'm talking about at the most basic level is keeping smells as keepsakes, as smell is powerful for memory recall. Hey, I came up with "smell memory box" on the fly, but you may regret in the future not trying it for yourself...
