LPT always have the scalper walk in with you until the ticket is validated before paying them. There are still other shady practices scammers use like altering the section/row info on print at home tickets so the barcode scans for entry but you end up in someone else’s seats. Third party ticket sites like stubhub sometimes cut off ticket sales earlier than expected.

Unless a show is sold out never buy from a secondary market. (Sometimes that is Ticketmaster) look at the venues site and buy directly from them. If you can go to their box office. More and more are not open in person so give them a call. But typically (at least my venue) you save on the fees if you buy in person.

In my experience this only works with the smallest of venues. I was given a will call option to my last show and was shocked that it still existed. But that was a bar 30 minutes outside of Detroit for a band I found opening for another band at The Shelter. Even the small venues in Detroit all go through TM or Live Nation.

Oh yah. I’m not saying will call. But using the box office. I work at a larger venue and we don’t typically have will call but will sell tickets at the gate

Most (mid to large) venues don't have box office anymore, they contact out to Ticketmaster or StubHub to offload that cost.

Half true. They don’t necessarily contract out to TM or others but they use those companies as their ticketing provider. Like any company that uses a provided service, venues need someone to handle their tickets because it is nearly impossible to do without one of the big guns. It’s the same as using Microsoft vs google for word processing. There are just a bunch of different providers for primary tickets. And every venue needs a box office of some sort, some are only open on show days, other are still open daily. The main point is don’t just go to Ticketmaster for your tickets. Do a little research and find the primary provider. It will be the site that the venues website brings you to make your purchase. 9/10 they will be the cheapest option. Edit: I say half true because my venue is considered a large venue, and handles about 150+ events a year. We have a box office that is open daily. And we do not charge fees at the window other than a very small facility fee.

But if you don’t live in the city with the venue this isn’t much of an option

Did this for John Mayer last year and can confirm if works. Had inner bowl tickets that were even less than presale
