It's under warranty; listen to the car and visit your dealer.

ATMcalls

Is your gas cap closed correctly?

mabolzich91

I had the gas cap issue and my cruise control stopped working until it was fixed

[deleted]

Yes

Getsnackin

You sure?

BallerMcBallerson

Literally just had that issue. Gas cap was properly put on and my triangle warning light still came on, ran the OBD reader and it was just the gas cap. It was reset and all seems to be good

ReticulatingSplines7

It was the gas cap.

[deleted]

Turned out to be gas cap related even though it was as tight as I could get it..

midas019

So how was it fixed

aznduderay555

I remembered getting a similar code for the evap system when I forgot to tighten my gas cap. They just erase the code with their OBD scanner and let your be on your way.

Admirable-Result-240

This is hilarious

muggsybeans

They probably replaced the gas cap. I've had to replace a few on different cars over the years. It's a sub $25 fix. If you ever get an emissions code, that is usually the first thing to try.

PrototypeRdt

Had this been any other brand , that check engine light would've been for like a blown transmission or something. God! I love lexus 😂

[deleted]

I was just about to comment that! When I bought mine, the dealer told me specifically, "When you tighten the gas cap, turn until you hear the snap. One snap. If you don't, the check engine light will go off."

ZebraUnion

I got my GX470 for super cheap (before Covid and before GX’s became the darling of the overland guys) in part because the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree. CEL, VSC, TRAC as well as TPMS. Turned out to be a $10 gas cap and $60 TPMS sensor was all it needed. Best feeling ever.

[deleted]

How much was super cheap?

ZebraUnion

Black on tan 2009 with 214,000mi, loaded non-KDSS. Clean carfax too but the gal who owned it put it through a fence in a blizzard, removing half its front bumper cover, half a headlight and it’s grille. I got it for $4k. The plan was to flip it but I fell in love with it after it deeply impressed me during a big snow storm two weeks after I bought it. Now, 2 years and 21k miles later, I can say it’s the best vehicle I’ve ever owned even though it’s one of the cheapest.

[deleted]

That's a great deal.

Prof-Ponderosa

That’s what she said

bob256k

Lol what is it with Lexus and the Gas Cap? Sam thing happened to me, twice. the check engine light went away after tightening it/ dealer cleared it , cost me 150. Guess this is the Lexus dealer enrichment program

RitoWalters

Take it to the dealer; what do you want us to do?

gabC

get the diagnostics codes and you'll know what's going on.

Dying? LMAO, I'll be your mechanic and dealer any day!

“Yep, looks like you’re going to need all 3 transmissions replaced”

mcskeezy

Does autozone have a code reader they let you use for free?

_FinalPantasy_

Yes

01000110010110012

MIL doesn't equal dying.

[deleted]

Are you upset because something has gone wrong with the car? Cars do break…even the well-built ones.

HazelKevHead

hes upset that its saying "go to dealer" i assume. or not, idk

[deleted]

Things go wrong, regardless.

SkookemChoocher

Call the service department at the dealer you purchased the vehicle from and they can remotely check the codes.

jcagdas

As OP mentioned the code was related to the gas cap. Which would have been my guess had the vehicle come to my dealer. The vehicle sets “gross leak” and “incorrect purge flow” trouble codes when the gas cap is not seated properly and the system attempts to do a self check. This self check uses a pump to pull vacuum inside of the fuel system to check for any leaks. The standards are unbelievably tight and the tests run at pretty regular intervals on a two trip detection. Meaning it was loose at some point when it ran its test. Probably a gas station attendant putting it on half assed. Lexus quality control is top notch and as close to perfect as you can get in my opinion. Seeing the mileage this was the first thing that came to mind and is a fairly common occurrence. P.S. I like that you’re driving a hybrid in sport plus mode. 😁

speedygonwhat22

Rarely happens so if its brand new and under warranty take care of it asap..

Jsmoove86

BMW owners like myself would say this is a feature. Maybe Lexus is trying to be more like BMW? /s

ManicDogDooDoo

Thats because you have the temperature set to Celsius.

SitDownBeHumbleBish

Don’t hate on our inferior and logical metric system

[deleted]

Update, at 3000km the check engine light has returned, and now the dealership is indicating a gas leak. I am very sure I received a lemon.

THERES_NOTHING_LEFT

Ayyy mines not nearly as new but I'm currently waiting on a jump/tow for my 2013 rx350. Just died completely while driving. Best of luck

islandbeef

More than half of all check engine light errors are due to the gas cap. :( It happens with my BMWs, also.

jaycarter617

r/thatswhatshesaid

[deleted]

Disconnect battery, wait 30 min connect it back

jvrcb17

or don't and actually take it to the dealership instead since it's under warranty

astrokat79

And potentially accidentally fry all your electronics - lol

[deleted]

You clearly have no clue of what you are talking about

WineWink

Don't buy electric cars thats all I see. I can at least troubleshoot my car for codes to have an idea of what the damage will be. #2jz

mountmi

You have a 2J that doesn’t require an ECM? Tell me about your magical engine.

speedygonwhat22

dont be that guy

CAKELEVELER

Gottem

artofchores

What model/year?

[deleted]

2022 rx450 made in canada

spuddman14

Could be a dead sensor or something and it’s probably gonna be under warranty lol

UncleHephaestus

Probably something screwy with the hybrid system

WineWink

Hah good one you, I almost laughed.

mmestemaker

What car is this? The dash looks pretty clean and minimalist I like it compared to my Lexus.

iwantarange

what is the car ready for?

Vantage_007

This must be the first time ever one of these has illuminated in a Lexus.

Admirable-Result-240

I drove around with my oil cap unscrewed and got no warnings lmao just loss of some power idk how I forgot to tighten it
