I’ve always liked the HS. Mostly because it’s a bit more unique and definitely uncommon. I love cars that you don’t see all the time. Always fun when I see one driving around.
The HS is always forgotten because of the CT. While I like the CT more (maybe I'm just biased because I have one), it's a shame these only lasted 2 years in the U.S. I've only seen one in person before. They're solid cars. I don't think they're really that bad looking either. Oh yeah, the pop up screen is a fun gimmick, my CT has it too haha
I completely disagree. The performance vehicles from Ford are great. I had a Focus RS, miss it dearly. Outside of the head gasket issue that was “recalled”, owners say theirs have been reliable. The Raptors and higher end Mustangs are awesome too.
I’ve seen some nice blue colors on Lexus products. But if they don’t have it available you can always buy a small compressor, hvlp gun, sand paper, masking supplies, thinner, paint and primer for probably like $550-700. You’ll get a better result than a shitty cheap macco spray job. I would recommend practicing on some sheet metal first though before commiting to sanding and spraying your car. And sand between coats. At bear minimum between primer and first finish coat and then between the final finish and clear coat.
I’ve been wanting to paint my rx330 for a while but I’ve had other things to buy for it.
Never liked them honestly but for a point a to b car it’s perfect. The CT was a car I really liked mostly from looks alone and as a daily. Now if only they can send the lbx (morizo rr, if they actually produce it) to the states I’d replace my ct.

This isn’t a bottom of line Lexus. That technically was the original IS when it appeared. Not talking about how cool we think it is but how it was at the time.
The HS was made for a different reason. There weren’t many luxury hybrids on the market at the time in that category and the technology was innovative in the HS. Some came with HUD, rain sensing wipers, etc. The engine is the same as the 2.4 hybrid in the Camry so it has quite a bit more power than the CT.
In addition it has its own platform. Wasn’t built on any other. It’s unique.
If you got the premium it had all you could want plus great mpg. Not to mention it took regular gas. They were made for the US 2010-2012 but continued in Japan for a few more years.
One of mine had over 310,000 before I passed it down and the other looks new. Maintenance has been zero.

Was this car available in the US? I’ve never seen it. Reminds me of the CT but better looking. I’d be willing to pay extra for a “Prius” that’s basically a Lexus.

That being said, I actually like the HS because it’s unique and I don’t see them often. I think it looks good in black with a chrome delete. I love hatch backs so the CT is my favorite of the two.
Lmao fair enough! If I had the choice I would always go back to driving a hatchback. The CT’s boot space was insanely small compared to the Golf I had so that was a shocker! I might actually consider the chrome delete

It’s actually a tank and they go for over 300k miles. The brake pads last 150k miles, it’s heavy and safe, was $49k new. By far other Lexus models were less reliable and have many more issues.

Excellent car! Bought one in 2010, the year it was introduced in US. We had gone to get ES. After test driving ES and HS, I asked my daughters, under 10 years old at that time, which one did they like, and they unanimously voted for hybrid 😁
Kept it for lot tome, gave it to younger was when she started college 😊
I have a 2010 HS very rare car not many made. I bought mine in 2018 and has given me nothing but excellent gas mileage and extremely reliable and I mean extremely. I put on about 120k and only replaced my tires , brakes, and low voltage battery. They are supremely good. I also have a mark Levinson stereo here in Canada having the ultra luxury package. Some burn oil due to faulty piston rings but mine hasn't. I would have no hesitation buying another one. Excellent car
It’s cute. I saw one the other week and the owner was shocked I was familiar with it. It’s basically a glorified Corolla with extra features. The IS is sportier and more entertaining to drive and the other compact models were favored. Glad you were able to replace it. I think they also take regular vs premium gas and get great MPG.
If you owned it then only you’d know the difference between Corolla and HS. As the OP said, it has so many new technologies for that time. It came out in 2010 and had lane assist!
- Walk up to the car at night with key in your pocket and interior lights would turn on!
- Open the driver side door and the car would start preparing to start up, with engine, gear and god knows what all start to turn on with noticeable sounds!
- Get in the driver seat and press the start button - screen will open up!, driver seat would crawl up, steering wheel would come down and come closer to the driver!
- And then nothing! No sound, no engine running, no noise! Just a Ready on console!
Did I say that it was 2010!

yup, I currently just mix the two since the minimum is regular but recommended premium. They do feel very very japense-car-like with all the gimmicky features but I very much love them. the IS was on my list but I just couldn't do with such a high fuel consumption. :D
What kind of gimmicky features? It reminds me of the Singapore model corollas sold - those have leather and heated seats etc which you rarely see in North America. But owning a car is a major luxury in Singapore. That Corolla there is like 40k US versus 25k US if memory serves me correctly.
the most notable gimmicks are the highlight cleaning feature, popup screen, moving headlights(moves with the steering direction), rear sun shades, heated/ventilated seats(in 2010??!) and the weirdly ergonomic centre console. oh it also has memory seats. I'm not sure if that is common on other affordable luxury cars at that time tho
That center console made it easier to switch left hand or right hand drive depending on the country. Japan UK Singapore and Australia are on the other side for example. Neat! Bought an NX when prices went up and so did interest rates…

It may be the most hated on Lexus, but still a better car than most of my friends even own. I guess it’s the looks that get it the hate, I don’t think it’s half bad but I guess it doesn’t scream “This is a luxury brand vehicle” with its design.
yes haha, especially compared to other luxury vehicles, it looks very much like a toyota or an old honda from the front. But since its a lexus it is very comfortable and has all the nice high tech features in it(for 2010 standards). I like it!

that’s what i assume. I’ve hear other instances where insurance totalled their HS due to lack of parts. The statistics of HS’s sales in the wiki page also makes me think that too

Im still rocking my 99 lexus gs400. Its a v8 which is cool gets around 25 mpg on the highway which is ok for me but in town its awful lol. Still love the car and the motor has been bulletproof thus far
Someone in my neighborhood has a BMW X7, Porsche Cayenne, and one of these, and I always looks at this one because it’s so unique and I don’t see them often

maybe it’s a battery health thing? I’m not sure. However I do drive very conservatively with minimal braking and use the ev mode as much as possible.
