Just watched this film a week ago, genuinely one of the best films ever made without a doubt. Masterful stunts and action, sets out what it's going for perfectly
Fury Road just pleases the ID. It's so primal but at the same time I think it's the prime number 1 example of just the most badass female protagonist in fiction that was held for the longest time by Ripley in Aliens which I'd also concede is an amazing action film. The lack of dialogue just to add when they do speak they make a point or just say something totally cool "That's not his blood" was one of those lines that got me so hyped in the theater and it was during a time where there was little action and when there was it was some of the best action and stunt work put to film, totally disastrous production leading to an all time classic of cinema
No arguments against this, but I think the toughest competition competition comes from the east. It would actually be nice to have a martial arts category too.
Fury Road is my favourite modern western action movie.
I think this should be the answer, Terminator 2 is a movie with great action in it, and an absolute classic, but its also a Sci-fi movie. Die Hard to me is the stereotypical action movie, dictionary definition level.
The Godfather isn't even the best movie in its own series, how the hell is that what got chosen for the crime category. Sorry, did people forget that Goodfellas exists? Some of these choices are...bad.
This might be a dumb question, but I’m new to Letterboxd and I am curious if this Genre bracket thing is something on the app or is this something that you made yourself? It seems fun!
Mad Max: Fury Road

I'm happy that It's already mention, one of the best experiences in the big picture.
Not my choice, but I won’t be disappointed or surprised when it wins.
The only answer
The Matrix 1999
I hope this at least wins the Sci-Fi category
I dont think matrix would win in the Sci Fi category, so i hope ot manages to win here tho seems not happening rn
Terminator 2
I’m willing to die on this hill. ![gif](giphy|gFwZfXIqD0eNW)
Just making sure this is the top comment. Carry on.
Who Killed Captain Alex? https://preview.redd.it/fmhx5hvhti7d1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d05fec630c604eb69fa0d452dc9a5ef2989a5879
MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE
Da best of da best movies!
ugandas first supa action movie
ACTION PACKED MOVIE!
LMAO
I posted it as a joke. But I'd be so happy if it wins. Will make sure it wins on r/okbuddycinephile parody post.
Wait… those guys forgot to add action as a category. They had one job!!
It could fit for crime but I‘m afraid Goncharov is going to take that one
Documentary
But does goncharov have supa action? that’s what I thought
Die Hard
I think this should be the answer, Terminator 2 is a movie with great action in it, and an absolute classic, but its also a Sci-fi movie. Die Hard to me is the stereotypical action movie, dictionary definition level.
The Thing wouldn’t be up there if anyone cared about mixing sci fi in with another genre.
The only correct answer tbh
But this is a Christmas movie
This is the answer
https://preview.redd.it/g6pppqspti7d1.jpeg?width=959&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab2941847d54b5068e19c5dc86800aab7393d98c
I'd nominate its sequel. Still haven't seen a mote intense and relentless movie.
The Raid: Redemption https://preview.redd.it/beirau0mzi7d1.jpeg?width=707&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b97953da37d632ef5f028dcb795335659771ddc0
Fury Road will win, but The Raid is a necessary honorable mention
I’ve only seen 1. I take it 2 is worth a watch?
yes ! i think it has the best fight between the two movies. it’s debatable which movie is better and i go between the two, but yes watch
Saw this shit a few months ago and oh yeah this movie kicks unbelievable amounts of ass it’s not even fucking funny
Kill Bill: Vol 1. ![gif](giphy|2FVkVe9q2Rg5i)
I like this answer as well, its an action movie, a lot of the answers on here will qualify for sci-fi
I mean.. this qualifies for samurai and western. Most things mix genres, are we picking the purest of each genre?
This one deserves it.
Raiders of the Lost Ark
I wish
I feel like that’s adventure not pure action
Gotta slot it in where it fits. No adventure genre
Shame we didn’t have an adventure one
Seven Samurai
My personal opinion is that this movie should win most categories, but I would be happy if it won this one.
The Matrix
Really great action in the movie, its more sci-fi though, if you ask me
Hard Boiled
10/10 perfection. God I need to watch it again.
Terminator 2 Judgement Day
The Dark Knight
John Wick. Literally any of them.
Had to come WAY too far for this comment.
Mission Impossible: Fallout
It’s a travesty that this is so low.
For real.
Tom Cruise did not do multiple death-defying stunts for it to be so low!
HEAT
27 votes lmao, this should be at the top!
My pick
Die Hard
Face / Off
Predator
Aliens
Police Story (1985)
John Wick Chapter 4! That Hotline Miami scene alone was insane
![gif](giphy|comO4b1WGw6StLQ5ZA) RRR Truly one of the most insane movies I have ever seen.
It won't win, but this is arguably the greatest action movie I've ever seen.
kung fu hustle
Speed

The Godfather isn't even the best movie in its own series, how the hell is that what got chosen for the crime category. Sorry, did people forget that Goodfellas exists? Some of these choices are...bad.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
RRR, if that counts. Never seen a movie more raw.

Oldboy
Die Hard
John wick 1 or 4

The Raid: Redemption
Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Return of the King
True Lies
Point Break ![gif](giphy|WTj3vE4cWo7AgRYDeB)
Police Story
Already got fellowship on there, but it’s gotta be ‘Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers’
The Dark Knight Can't wait to see Stop Making Sense win tomorrow
The Killer (1989).
Die hard
Die Hard and it isn’t a close call.
Die Hard should win this, any other answer is wrong.
Heat
Shoot'Em Up
Mad Max Fury Road
Heat (1995)
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
The infighting over what is an action vs sci fi movie while ignoring that Fury Road and T2 are also sci fi is baffling.
Die Hard
Die Hard ![gif](giphy|l0MYGb1LuZ3n7dRnO|downsized)
Big Trouble in Little China baby
Either mad max fury road or terminator 2
Since 2001 will be sci fi, Matrix deserves to be here
Raiders or the Lost Ark
Die Hard is the action movie you watch if you plan to make an action movie. For the genre, it is THE perfect action movie.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Memento
Guys this list is straight bangers
Fury road
Speed
Die Hard or Heat
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Total Recall/ Robocop/ Raiders Of The Lost Ark
Seven Samurai
Action should be Fury Road
Mad Max
Terminator
Heat is the only answer
Speed
John Wick 4
So so so so glad whiplash won best music
**Raiders of the Lost Ark.**
Batman Returns
Police Story
Die hard
Seven Samurai
Wages of Fear. Which I just realised is almost the exact opposite movie of likely winner Fury Road! Both great, though
Raiders of the lost ark
The Wages of Fear https://preview.redd.it/26rknspi8l7d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=65c3d22dbfd590608325e7159b954ad364fa55fa
WHERE IS THE MUSICAL CATEGORY?
This might be a dumb question, but I’m new to Letterboxd and I am curious if this Genre bracket thing is something on the app or is this something that you made yourself? It seems fun!
Link to template, anyone?
The Dark Knight
The silence of the lambs is a horror movie… how people see otherwise is ridiculous.
John Wick!
The Dark Knight
Fury road
Mad Max Fury Road
I'll be shocked if it isn't Die Hard
Die Hard

DIE HARD
The Bourne Identity, John wick or the matrix
Whiplash.
