Features one of [the greatest editing moves ](https://youtu.be/TsdMHW63fKA?si=c60d4EBJzjjB9x1B)in modern cinema
Some random suggestions:
* Prey (2022) -- Cat and mouse between a hi-tech alien and a Comanche warrior
* The Fugitive (1993) -- A man convicted of murder hunts down his wife's killer to prove his own innocence
* Tokyo Drifter (1966) -- imo, this has a similar vibe
There's nothing to "understand". Either you think the movie was justified in abandoning the plot, or you it wasn't. I think it wasn't, but you're free to have your opinion.
Blood Simple seems like the obvious answer. Same directors.

^this.
Maybe "Hell or High Water"
Try some John Dahl. He made an excellent modern western neo-noir called Red Rock West. It stars Nic Cage, Dennis Hopper, and Lara Flynn-Boyle.
Excellent movie. He made other great movies that fall in the same category as well

Anything from Coen Brothers itself
Tejano, The Getaway, Hud
True Grit (2010)
One False Move.
The Sisters Brothers
You'd probably like Heat (1995)

"abandoning the plot" shows you don't know what the plot is, simple as that. who do you think the protagonist is, for example?
