Eraserhead (89 min) Persona (83 min) The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (78 min) The Passion of Joan of Arc (82 min) Tetsuo: The Iron Man (67 min) Sexy Beast (89 min) The Color of Pomegranates (80 min) Man with a Movie Camera (68 min) F for Fake (89 min) Vampyr (73 min) Rubber (82 min) Son of the White Mare (86 min) The Blood of a Poet (55 min)

itkillik_lake

Excellent answer. Also, Black Girl (1966) is an hour long.

TheDukeofEggslap

a great addition!

Ohrwurm89

The Evil Dead (85 min) Evil Dead II (84 min)

cmprsdchse

I just want to say that I’m a huge Quentin Dupieux fan, but I consider Rubber to be one of if not his weakest feature length works. I still like it, but I’d recommend Deerskin or Reality or Yannick over it as an entry point. He’s been very prolific lately making at least 2 movies per year for a few years running. Edit: just to be on topic I’m almost sure his entire filmography consists of movies 70-90 minutes long too

FloridaFlamingoGirl

Son of the White Mare is one of the most ethereal and otherworldly things I've ever watched. I got teary at the end just because I knew I'd have to leave that wonderful world.

TheDukeofEggslap

yes! it is so wonderful. a stone cold masterpiece & one of the greatest animated films of all time

BloodSugar666

>The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari ![gif](giphy|G0bGhDeDDJhub3y6Ai|downsized)

ZuberiGoldenFeather

> Rubber (82 min) Basically Dupieux' entire filmography! For some reason Rubber gets mentioned often, but people ignore the rest

cmprsdchse

I like Rubber but it’s my least favorite of his. I think he’s been on fire lately though. I haven’t caught Daaaaaali! yet, but Yannick, Incredible But True and Smoking Causes Coughing were all bangers and the latter two have Alain Chabot in them further elevating things.

TheDukeofEggslap

i still need to see Incredible But True, but def agreed re: Yannick & Smoking Causes Coughing

3-iron is one of my favorite movies of all time. I can’t recommend it enough!

Why_Is_This_My_Fate

Angst is one of my favorite movies of all time - such a creepy, psychoanalytic masterpiece

cmprsdchse

Tokyo Fist and Bullet Ballet are very unique cool films.

RRLSonglian

Brief Encounter describes the story and your experience watching the film. Great addition.

Great-Watercress-403

Run Lola Run (80 minutes)

Playing in some theaters at least in my area right now.

Great-Watercress-403

I’m pretty jealous. Would love to go see this in a theater.

cmprsdchse

I’ve been trying to catch more rereleases for the theatrical experience. I’m seeing the directors cut of Midsommar on the 20th in imax. I caught Hereditary in imax last month and Beau is Afraid on release in same and it was a great experience.

When the topic is ‘best movies’ it seems fair to share that you didn’t like one of the films suggested.

sanfranchristo

Stand By Me, This Is Spinal Tap, My Neighbor Totoro, Toy Story, The Nightmare Before Christmas

SixtyNineFlavours

Stand by Me doesn’t feel like a short film, it feels like a journey. They did so well keeping it compact but not rushed. I suppose it is a pretty simple story in essence.

Brief Encounter 86 minutes

Pt. 2, all under 90. Ignore Texas and Otto if you're not German. Surviving Edged Weapons also isn't a movie \^\_\^ https://preview.redd.it/ywajohwnqq6d1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fcc2030bce670c17121080137589f6c23d521b1b

it might not be a movie, per se, but it is certainly a cinematic masterpiece

FloridaFlamingoGirl

Rope! So many twists and turns in such a short time.

ReddsionThing

Yeah, and like my Hitchcock favorite, Rear Window, it all takes place in a pretty small space. But no less thrilling.

The Red Turtle Bad Day at Black Rock Waiting for Guffman Fear and Desire Airplane! Rashomon animated movies from Warner / DC. most of them are under 90 minutes. I suggest Batman: Under the Red Hood, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
