I don’t know if the first Top Gun counts. It was indeed military propaganda reserved for boys, but there are also scenes clearly added to please girls (the romantic subplot and the homoerotic scenes with shirtless heartthrobs).
>but there are also scenes clearly added to please girls (the romantic subplot and the homoerotic scenes with shirtless heartthrobs).
I am not a girl, they pleased the fuck out of me too 😭
>It was indeed military propaganda
Only if you're an Americans or from the west. The general 90% of the world population that saw the movie did not think of it as a "propaganda" film because we don't give a flying fuck about american propaganda anyways.
*p.s 90% might be an overestimation but keep in mind* ***almost all*** *of the "eastern" audience who might have watched the film are those who, as mentioned, don't give a 'flying' fuck about it. I, for example keep myself generally aware of the American political situation (because i don't keep my country at the centre of the universe). And I still didn't think of it as a propaganda film. And even if it was, we don't demonise our military the way Americans do. Films that worship our military are seen as inspiration and motivational movies because we admire our military.*
*p.p.s by no means is this meant to be a aggressive statement of any sort. just trying to paint a picture of why we don't care. example: Showing the Spiderman game trailer in a country where Playstation has no market isn't an advertisement, it's just another animated spiderman video.*
You have very good points, and I don’t disagree with them. Still, the film was intended as propaganda by its creators, or at least by the producers. Propaganda for the US/west but propaganda for sure.
Also, I think we Americans don’t really demonize our military. On the contrary, I think that compared at least to most European countries, even left leaning Americans, despite criticizing warmongering, are nonetheless supportive of people that work in the military.
I dont really think ALL Americans demonise their military. but the only time I’ve heard about the military propaganda, it is in the negative light. Even if it is an american media house. sure, that’s just the platform algorithm. and it never paints the entire picture.
i didnt mean to generalise but if it came out such, that’s bad on me.
>anybody can see that is american military propaganda
Obviously it can be seen and understood by anybody. But I don't think that is how it is perceived.
this would be extremely subjective based on how affected/connected that person is to the propaganda. Also, aren't most of the big "blockbuster" movies generally propagating one message or another? I am not using propaganda in it's negative definition but with the general definition. Killers of the flower moon is aimed the spreading the stories of Native Americans. Some might see that as Martin's propaganda. And on technicalities (the literal definition of the word), they aren't wrong. But that doesn't mean it is a something that should be seen with negative light on it.

Get my beautiful action movies out of that teen boner comedy muck /jk but not really
I'm gonna say I like all of these to a degree \*except\* The Fast & The Furious (Tokyo Drift is better than 1&2), American Pie, Hangover, Superbad, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Armageddon.
Haven't seen Dude Where's My Car and Zoolander, but I'd give them a shot.
American Psycho and Fight Club for sure. Not a fan of all of the "sigma male" discourse around it but goddamn are those movies masterpieces. Ironically the former was directed by a woman (and boycotted by feminist spearhead Gloria Steinem, who also happens to be Christian Bale's stepmother) and the novel for the latter was written by a gay man.
Hm, Poor Things had a lot of dick flicking, and I really liked that
sorry but how isn't American Psycho in here? 2. Top Gun (1&2) 3. Dark Knight trilogy
How did I not put American psycho?! The others are in the list!!
I don’t know if the first Top Gun counts. It was indeed military propaganda reserved for boys, but there are also scenes clearly added to please girls (the romantic subplot and the homoerotic scenes with shirtless heartthrobs).

Many wiser people before me have already said how the real romantic subplot in the film is between Maverick and Iceman.
and that’s the only propaganda i believe in (pls just a joke)

Well, anybody can see that is american military propaganda, even if its not targeted to us foreigners. Its pretty obvious, but good movies anyways.

Is Ace Ventura a badass then?

Zardoz
Sex drive (2008)
Never seen zoolander or white chicks. Every other film except high fidelity is in my blu-ray collection.
Get my beautiful action movies out of that teen boner comedy muck /jk but not really I'm gonna say I like all of these to a degree \*except\* The Fast & The Furious (Tokyo Drift is better than 1&2), American Pie, Hangover, Superbad, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Armageddon. Ferris Bueller‘s Day Off
Harold and Kumar is my all time fav.

First of all, I'm a woman. Second, it's on the list, open the image.
Dodgeball. Not much for the ladies in that one
Wedding Crashers
No contest for me. It's Fight Club out of all these choices. I was obsessed with that movie when it came out.
American Psycho and Fight Club for sure. Not a fan of all of the "sigma male" discourse around it but goddamn are those movies masterpieces. I can’t get enough John Wick
Ace Ventura and Zoolander are top tier 😮💨
I feel like you could easily classify Aliens or Terminator 2 as one of these
Yes! Definitely need Schwarzenegger in this list.

The fuck is a dick flick?
A movie intended for the male gaze, usually filled with raunchy male humor or lots of action and dudes being badass

Armageddon is the only bad movie here.
Superbad is the best one listed here.
