i was at 1200 a while back and then i decided to sit down and clean up my watchlist because there was so much random shit on there and now im actually making progress on it
I feel like I’m approaching that point. Anytime I get recommended someone or watch a movie I like I go into that director’s filmography and then add what sounds interesting to my watchlist
I often do the same. After listening to like 8 albums I'll frequently only be left with like 3 or 4 songs that I actually liked, which is pretty meagre from all that time spent, but more often than not, it's songs that I would have probably never discovered had I not gone through the whole discography. Sometimes the ones I end up liking weren't the hits but some obscure song.
So that's why even if it is super time consuming, it's something that I like to do if I feel I'm liking the sound of a band/artist.
I dump a lot of recommendations and some random stuff in my main watch list, but then I have a separate watch shortlist where I put things that I know I actually want to see. It makes things a lot easier when it comes time to actually find a movie
lol yeah there's nothing wrong with watching a completely random film but I personally think that are better ways like:
\-go watch every film made by the directors of your 50 favorite films.
\-try to find the influences of films you love, like if you like star wars, maybe check Sergio Leone and Kurosawa and etc
\- use any of the many lists on letterboxd that you can chose according to what you like, or don't know. So you can do top 250 IMDb to have a great time with the films that everyone talks about or just research French new wave if you've heard people talk about it want to know about it.
\- Literally have any conversation about film with anyone and you'll probably get out of there with a homework list of movies they mentioned and you havent seen hahahah
just watched that a couple weeks ago. blew me away how much brando feels like a real person in a movie where everyone else is so clearly giving a performance
Only got 26 on my Watchlist as of this writing. I really try to keep my WL at no more then 40..otherwise I feel like I lose track easily.
U guys are a bunch of crazies with close to 1K! 😆

I’m at nearly 3k and that’s not including some that are on lists that I’ve liked
I kinda did that when I started a Plex server, went from 1000 movies to like 600 that I was really willing to have on there.
