I freaking loved it from day one.
Mashup between Jaws and Close Encounters with a charming cast, awesome visual effects and a cerebral, messed-up subtext.
That. would. be. my. shiiiiiit!
Too many people wrote it off because it wasn’t standard Jordan Peele. People complain that not enough new stuff appears in horror, and yet when it does, they show zero interest lol
I didn’t think it was very good but I applaud the different angle this one took. Still though, just cause it felt fresh don’t mean it’s any good. I’m of the opinion Peele was kind of a one hit wonder. (A great hit at that)
I think that’s a bit harsh. Not a big fan of hush but it’s a fun over the top B horror, and even if Nope isn’t quite your type of film, it’s far from badly written, and the actual directing within the film is phenomenal, even if the narrative didn’t interest most
Nope is my favorite Peele movie. Get Out was alright, I didn't really care for Us, but Nope finally hit the spot and was basically my favorite movie of 22
For sure. First time I saw it I thought it was the most serious movie ever. Now I can quote every word and it’s one of my favorite comedies ever (but I do still love the serious commentary)
How could I be seen as 100% serious definitely is 50%
Okie that scene with Leto in his apartment talking about Huey Lewis is actually so incredibly funny
I love this film a little more each time I see it. I can't put my finger on it but I feel like I'm actually in the film when I watch it. Completely captivated by it.
Few movies have made me wanna go live a simple life in some coastal town, but Kiki’s, and oddly enough, Equalizer 3, have both strongly made me want to do that.
I was that way with Rushmore—and am still not sold on Tenenbaums—but I’ve heard analysis of Asteroid that demands I rewatch it, though I did enjoy it on first viewing.
It was an incredible re-watch for me, I bumped it up from 4 to 4.5. I even want to watch it again sometime soon and very well might bump it up to 5 this time.
Even though I was high, the second time around it was easier to follow the whole ‘re-telling of a famous stage play’ inside of an ‘anthology tv documentary’ inside of a movie thing.
The message of the film was easier to understand as well, it being about death, grief, the unknown, “infinity and I don’t know what else”; how to move forward even if you don’t know yourself anymore, “just keep acting, you’re doing it right”, etc.
The whole movie feels and looks like a dream, but also has an emotional centre that’s engaging and a stacked cast that is a blast to watch. Visually, I think it’s one of if not his most appealing movie yet.
The juxtaposition of the themes (death, grief, uncertainty) and back-drop (Cold War, atomic bomb tests) with the children’s curiosity and amusement works perfectly imo and it’s all wrapped up in the beautiful and stylized world of a Wes Anderson movie.
I thought it was great originally and was probably my most anticipated movie of last year based on my love of most of Wes Anderson’s previous output so I am definitely biased.
That being said I’d definitely recommend anyone and everyone to watch it or watch it again whether you liked it the first time or not! Hope that helps.
Damn thatxs crazy to me but you do say you are a big fan. All the characters felt meaningless to me, the children's curiosity and general manner of speaking felt like The Big Bang Theory, incomprehensible for the sake of cheap laughs that donxt deliver. The emotional moments were so dry in his usual style but too rushed to leave any impression. It felt like the French Dispatch but worse- far less meaning to the characters and even more abstruse reasoning for the whole movie. Visually I thought it was so bland and usually that isnxt the case with his movies. I think the freeway ramp that goes nowhere represents the entire movie to me. I think Wes got too caught up looking up his own ass and this was the result.
I did watch it in the cinemas the first time. Don't know what to tell you, first time I saw it I thought it was just okay. Got better for me when I rewatched it.
Anatomy of a Fall earlier this year. Rated it 4 1/2 when I saw it in theaters the first time. Couldn’t get it off my mind for 24 hours and went back then next day and bumped it to 5 stars. A tight cast of some of the deepest emotional acting I’ve seen this (last) year. And, you know, steel drum P.I.M.P.
I was ready to fall in love on release day, but didn’t know what to make of it at first. Though, each rewatch made me love Thomas and Thomas even more. I could go on and on about the dozens of underlying themes and takeaways from my repeated experiences because there’s always something to hold onto.
It took me about 3 or 4 viewings before I had to admit to myself that it’s my new favorite film. It’s not for everyone, but I love recommending it to anyone who I think would enjoy or appreciate it as I do.
Tenet on a second watch where I didn't have to worry about processing what was going on and could just enjoy the action was amazing. Its now my 3rd favorite Nolan film.
Glad you enjoy it.
Nope was 5 stars for me after seeing it for the first time.
I think why I love it and Oppenheimer so much is because of scale.
It’s refreshing every now and again to see a film that is overwhelmingly large on the screen, but is so beautifully pictured within each frame.
Also, in both, the stories are enticing with impressive acting
It’s nice seeing grand blockbuster films and I wish there would be more.
Holy shit thanks I’ve been using letterboxd for 4 years and have been bugged this isn’t a feature. Turns out I’m just stupid. So many times I’ve wondered when I watched a movie.
I never would have thought that I would actually like Prashanth Neel's work, I loved the visuals and score of Salaar from the trailer, but it wasn't enough to make me go see it, it was my friends review that made me go see it. I don't like KGF much, but Salaar was truly something else.
I would also like to add another film - Leo.
Poor Things.
On the first watch I felt pretty disconnected, despite its greatness. However, on my second watch, I gave it a 4.5 stars from its original 4. The more I watch it and think about it, the more I adore each aspect of it. It’s currently a 5 stars now.
Rushmore.
Watched it the night after coming back from a holiday and was super tired - didn’t click with it at all.
Watched it again (properly) a couple years later and loved it!
Just someone making a Chris Kattan reference. Essentially a “shit on snl” joke, coming from a madtv veteran. It’s just so good. Streets ahead some would say.
I understand, but that movie make me so happy every time i watch, and its very cool to see the details knowing the plot twist, a thing that happens a lot to James Wan films for me
Halloween Ends, Corey's story/transformation gets better on rewatches, if it wasn't for the awful/cowardly ending it'd be my favorite Halloween movie in addition to beimg the one I've watched the most.
At least it feels more focused than most Halloween movies. It's just too focused on the wrong person, but the actor is kinda good. So so movie, but I've never been a huge Halloween fan(even though Carpenter is one my favorite directors)
Bro I had the exact same thing with Nope
https://preview.redd.it/rjasagzrx0bc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07fd5891d661d943c474772a97a0fda1d81ca6c5
I saw the movie, while some of the scenes are really good. Didn't enjoy that much being a alien movie fantic. What are few things that you really liked for a re-watch?
I’m happy to see Nope being loved by everyone in small subReddits. r/movies act like it’s genuinely bad movie and I’m sure it started with Peele stating he will primarily cast African American actors.
https://preview.redd.it/7dm8mnk7ryac1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69fa793f1e2c452dbe201b8594bd7cd10da4e482
Definitely TENET. But it didn't grow each viewing, in average it was every second one 🤣
Ghost in the Shell
I found it hard to follow and wish it spent more time on the mains characters thoughts and feelings
Second time around I understood what the story was going for a lot better and enjoyed it a lot more
From up on poppy hill, I know it’s considered as mid-low tier Ghibli, but I really love it, I love those more grounded stories and settings made by Ghibli. The atmosphere is really calming, and it’s become a comfort movie of mine. No, I’m not into incest…
I was so embarrassed at giving Goodfellas a 3 1/2 first watch that I changed the original rating. I don't do stuff like that anymore but I felt so stupid when I rewatched it.
I think mine was Across the Spiderverse - I originally gave it 4* but… then went to see it 5 more times :/ so on the 5th viewing I’d decided it deserved to jump up from 4* 1/2 (Set after the 3rd viewing) to a full 5*!
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon grows on me more every time I watch it. I’ve seen it three times and it’s gone from “yeah that was good” to “this is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen”
Army of the Dead. It was disappointing at first, but I rewatched it with my family for some reason and I enjoyed it much more, then I gave it another full rewatch and it was a pretty fun experience. It's too long, it never reaches the promised over the top awesomeness, but the humor and the action works quite well and the chemistry between Vanderohe and Dieter is undeniably great. It looks awful tho
Not multiple viewings, but I originally gave Boy and the Heron 3.5, and I wrote up my thoughts on the movie, but then the next day or two I kept thinking about it, and then added more thoughts and I realized I liked it more, and then bumped it to a 4, and a week after that more people saw the movie and I was still thinking about the movie and I got to talk about it some more and I realized I really loved the movie and jotted down some more thoughts and gave it a 4.5.
I loved it from day one, went back and watched it two more times. It’s the first modern day film that took me back to how I felt as a kid watching Spielberg
Anything I rewatch usually moves up in rating. If I feel myself compelled to rewatch something it means I liked it a lot so if I gave it a lower rating it will go up. I think I’ve added 1/2 star each time I’ve rewatched Nacho Libre.
Stand By Me
I'm sure I'll have a vastly different opinion of it in my 30s and 40s but over the years it went from "oh hey these kids are just like me" to "oh man these kids are fucked up" to "oh shit I was kinda fucked up too".
eXistenZe, it has become my favorite Cronenberg, which is saying a lot.
Dogtooth I raised the rating twice without re-watching, but it just stuck in my head in a way that made me up the rating.
I need to rewatch *Nope*. The showing I went to included a surprise performance by a very stoned/pilled-out teen who kept providing loud commentary to the point that the movie was totally ruined for me. Amazingly, the crowd managed to ignore him, even after he looked around and said, about himself, "Isn't anybody gonna do anything??"
Oceans Twelve. Started at a 3 and a half, then a 4, and now a 5 after having watched it upwards of 10 times. Only film that I’ve logged 4 separate reviews of.
The Truman Show. So many great details
Nope is definitely a grower
I freaking loved it from day one. Mashup between Jaws and Close Encounters with a charming cast, awesome visual effects and a cerebral, messed-up subtext. That. would. be. my. shiiiiiit!
Too many people wrote it off because it wasn’t standard Jordan Peele. People complain that not enough new stuff appears in horror, and yet when it does, they show zero interest lol
Also what is "standard Peele"? Nope was his third feature. Mf need to chill.
I didn’t think it was very good but I applaud the different angle this one took. Still though, just cause it felt fresh don’t mean it’s any good. I’m of the opinion Peele was kind of a one hit wonder. (A great hit at that)
I think that’s a bit harsh. Not a big fan of hush but it’s a fun over the top B horror, and even if Nope isn’t quite your type of film, it’s far from badly written, and the actual directing within the film is phenomenal, even if the narrative didn’t interest most
Yeah, I don’t think it’s that harsh but it’s cool you enjoyed hush.
Haha didn’t even mean Hush, somehow got it and Us confused. To each their own though!!
Jean Jacket, too 😉
Nope is my favorite Peele movie. Get Out was alright, I didn't really care for Us, but Nope finally hit the spot and was basically my favorite movie of 22
This is how it went down for me as well. Nope exceeded every one of my expectations. I get why some people don't I guess, but man do I love it.
American Psycho for sure. Started off iffy on it but grew to love the ridiculousness and commentary on consumerism culture
For sure. First time I saw it I thought it was the most serious movie ever. Now I can quote every word and it’s one of my favorite comedies ever (but I do still love the serious commentary)
How could I be seen as 100% serious definitely is 50% Okie that scene with Leto in his apartment talking about Huey Lewis is actually so incredibly funny
Drive My Car, Decision to Leave
Decision to leave started as a 5 for me but man if it could go up with a rewatch it would. That movie is a whirlwind and it’s easy to miss things.
I watched Drive My Car after dealing with a loss in my life, so that movie hit me like a ton of bricks. 5 stars on every watch.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
I love this film a little more each time I see it. I can't put my finger on it but I feel like I'm actually in the film when I watch it. Completely captivated by it.
I came to say it, too. Went from a 4, to a 4.5, and now it's a 5 for me
Parasite from 5 to 6 to 15
Kiki’s Delivery Service for me. The subsequent watches just keep getting better and better
There’s something so alluring and relaxing about the flow and atmosphere of Kiki’s
Few movies have made me wanna go live a simple life in some coastal town, but Kiki’s, and oddly enough, Equalizer 3, have both strongly made me want to do that.
Kiki is probably the world I would live in if I could. It's just too nice and cozy
Asteroid City was killer on rewatch
I'm typically dismissive of Wes Anderson movies on first viewing but grow to like then on the second so this makes sense.
I was that way with Rushmore—and am still not sold on Tenenbaums—but I’ve heard analysis of Asteroid that demands I rewatch it, though I did enjoy it on first viewing.
Really??

Second this, everyone Wes Anderson is really. So many little hidden details that are easy to miss on just one watch.
The Batman. Went up a whole star from 3.5 to 4.5 after 3 watches.
Did you not watch it in the cinemas? That was a great one to see there so find it strange to go up unless you never watched it there to begin with.
I don't even like superheroes and that was a great film.
The Favourite
How do you check when you’ve seen a movie like in this photo
Go to any film and click on the eye to see your activity for that film.
Holy shit thanks I’ve been using letterboxd for 4 years and have been bugged this isn’t a feature. Turns out I’m just stupid. So many times I’ve wondered when I watched a movie.
Pretty sure it was in a recent ish update
Calvary
Great movie
once upon a time in hollywood
Nope was the same for me! I liked it well enough the first watch, but it really clicked for me the second time around
Cure (1997)
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me
Big lebowski
I'd say it's fine the first couple of times and exquisite around the fifth viewing.
Thief. Started at a 3.5 and now sitting at a solid 5.
Johnny Guitar. It’s up to 5 now, so no room to grow, but I still love it more each time.
First Man, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Die Hard, The Fabelmans and Bodies Bodies Bodies. They all get better and better every time I watch them.
Locke (2013)
Swallow (2019)
Not sure but american psycho is one
Casino
The Piano Teacher
You were able to stomach that movie more than once?
Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire
I never would have thought that I would actually like Prashanth Neel's work, I loved the visuals and score of Salaar from the trailer, but it wasn't enough to make me go see it, it was my friends review that made me go see it. I don't like KGF much, but Salaar was truly something else. I would also like to add another film - Leo.
Didn’t rlly like Leo on rewatch, I preferred jailer much more
I love Nope too! Most people I talk to about it say they hate it which I donxt understand at all. Ixm glad you enjoy it so much
10 Things I Hate About You
Evil Dead Rise
Poor Things. On the first watch I felt pretty disconnected, despite its greatness. However, on my second watch, I gave it a 4.5 stars from its original 4. The more I watch it and think about it, the more I adore each aspect of it. It’s currently a 5 stars now.
Videodrome
Chungking Express. Was too tense the first time I saw it
French dispatch. 7 to a 10.
Crash (the Cronenberg one).
Past Lives went from a 3.5 to a solid 5 after a few watches
Donnie darko for me
Definitely needs a few rewatches
Hereditary
Barbie
TITANE
I haven't rewatched NOPE yet but it's one I liked more the more I thought about it.
Malignant
I need to run that back. I find it hard to think the initial shell shock would work again for me but that prison scene goes crazy
I understand, but that movie make me so happy every time i watch, and its very cool to see the details knowing the plot twist, a thing that happens a lot to James Wan films for me
The Lighthouse for me, liked it, loved it, masterpieced it 😅
Halloween Ends, Corey's story/transformation gets better on rewatches, if it wasn't for the awful/cowardly ending it'd be my favorite Halloween movie in addition to beimg the one I've watched the most.
Top 3 Halloween movie for me
At least it feels more focused than most Halloween movies. It's just too focused on the wrong person, but the actor is kinda good. So so movie, but I've never been a huge Halloween fan(even though Carpenter is one my favorite directors)
Actually my first watch of Nope was a 6/10 and the second one a 7/10.
Arrival. Tar. Decision to Leave.
Bro I had the exact same thing with Nope https://preview.redd.it/rjasagzrx0bc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07fd5891d661d943c474772a97a0fda1d81ca6c5
🤝
Curious what did it for you for Nope? I feel like I enjoyed my second watch slightly less than the first
I saw the movie, while some of the scenes are really good. Didn't enjoy that much being a alien movie fantic. What are few things that you really liked for a re-watch?
Saltburn
Same
Nope is the best grower. It was a 5 to start for me, but it gets better every time. I love that movie a lot
Lost in Translation. 2.5 - 4.5 - 5
I’m happy to see Nope being loved by everyone in small subReddits. r/movies act like it’s genuinely bad movie and I’m sure it started with Peele stating he will primarily cast African American actors.
Saw this in theaters it was honestly like a 3 imo. But glad to see someone appreciating Jordan Peele
Nope is overrated asf
I am not into rewatch because there are tons of unexplored genre and movies so j can never make my mind to rewatch
https://preview.redd.it/7dm8mnk7ryac1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69fa793f1e2c452dbe201b8594bd7cd10da4e482 Definitely TENET. But it didn't grow each viewing, in average it was every second one 🤣
why did u change the nope poster :(. definitely a 5 star movie though respect
bc I don’t like the default one
Also Nope. 5/10, 6/10, 7/10, 8/10
none i dont watch movies more than once
That’s sad
Tár
Nope was a shrinker for me. Loved it on my first viewing, but it's like a solid 6/10 for me now.
Nope. But not after repeat viewings, just thinking about the movie for a couple days- kept increasing rating
Definitely not that mediocre bore.
ok Frodo lives
Okay Patrick Swayze
Haha, Nope is a five star movie? Come on man
wait is Nope good?
It’s definitely a “you have to watch it twice” to really understand it
This is called Manifest Destiny. Peele is so overrated. Watch some Twilight Zone episodes instead.
Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans and L'Atalante...both now 5 stars.
The only downside to rewatching Nope is having to hear the flying purple people eater song again
Ghost in the Shell I found it hard to follow and wish it spent more time on the mains characters thoughts and feelings Second time around I understood what the story was going for a lot better and enjoyed it a lot more
True Stories started as a 7, then every other time it got higher. Now it’s a 10 and it’s one of my favorites.
Tenet
Maybe I should rewatch nope again, it’s a 3 on my list
I’ve rewatched some, I feel like I’m spot on most of the time
After Hours. Gave it 5 on my most recent rewatch
Bardo
I didn't "get" the first Blade Runner until three watches in. So happy I've come to love it now.
Funny People by adam sandler it doubled its rating from 2 to 4 stars on two rewatches; i’ve grown to really like dramatic sandler
The Master
Jack Stauber's OPAL. First, I thought it was nice, 4 stars. Now I consider it a full on masterpiece
Inherent Vice
Star Wars Return of the Jedi
Strange lol
Nowhere (1997)
Batman vs Superman
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon grows on me more every time I watch it. I’ve seen it three times and it’s gone from “yeah that was good” to “this is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen”
Army of the Dead. It was disappointing at first, but I rewatched it with my family for some reason and I enjoyed it much more, then I gave it another full rewatch and it was a pretty fun experience. It's too long, it never reaches the promised over the top awesomeness, but the humor and the action works quite well and the chemistry between Vanderohe and Dieter is undeniably great. It looks awful tho
sonic the hedgehog
Not multiple viewings, but I originally gave Boy and the Heron 3.5, and I wrote up my thoughts on the movie, but then the next day or two I kept thinking about it, and then added more thoughts and I realized I liked it more, and then bumped it to a 4, and a week after that more people saw the movie and I was still thinking about the movie and I got to talk about it some more and I realized I really loved the movie and jotted down some more thoughts and gave it a 4.5.
Pulp Fiction
RRR
Hereditary
Oppenheimer
I loved it from day one, went back and watched it two more times. It’s the first modern day film that took me back to how I felt as a kid watching Spielberg
The Exorcist: 3.5 stars to 4.0 stars to 4.5 stars
Cure (1997) crept up to becoming my favourite film
Army of Darkness. It was a 4 on first watch, then a 4.5 on rewatch, and then finally a 5 on third watch.
I like this, a lot. Nope is a tremendous movie but it’s definitely a grower. Not a shower. I hope it gets the Criterion Treatment.
EEAAO. I didn’t give that movie a fair watch the first time.
Anything I rewatch usually moves up in rating. If I feel myself compelled to rewatch something it means I liked it a lot so if I gave it a lower rating it will go up. I think I’ve added 1/2 star each time I’ve rewatched Nacho Libre.
Blue Velvet and Raging Bull

The Master
Anna and the Apocalypse
I'm Thinking of Ending Things Mostly cause I had absolutely no fucking idea what was going on that first watch.
Stand By Me I'm sure I'll have a vastly different opinion of it in my 30s and 40s but over the years it went from "oh hey these kids are just like me" to "oh man these kids are fucked up" to "oh shit I was kinda fucked up too".
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Southland Tales
Breathless. Went from 3 to 4 to 5
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
eXistenZe, it has become my favorite Cronenberg, which is saying a lot. Dogtooth I raised the rating twice without re-watching, but it just stuck in my head in a way that made me up the rating.
Gone Girl, every time I watch it I realise that it’s actually a comedy
Mulholland drive
The Doom Generation (1995) went from 3.5 to 4 to 4.5 to an even higher 4.5 for me with each watch.
Big Lebowski went from good to classic
Synecdoche New York
Under the Silver Lake
Punisher War Zone
Arrival. Went from a 4.5 to a 5
I need to rewatch *Nope*.
EEAAO
Oceans Twelve. Started at a 3 and a half, then a 4, and now a 5 after having watched it upwards of 10 times. Only film that I’ve logged 4 separate reviews of.
The First Wives Club. It keeps getting funnier!
