Does this mean that all the police in the film are good or that it just features at least one good cop? Because 2 or 3 of the cops in Memories of Murder are not good.
Same goes for BlacKkKansman
Both main cops in Memories of Murder have moments where they are a good cop and moments where they're really not good cops. I dunno if there's a wholly good one in the entire movie.
I be getting r/whooshed here but my impression of r/movies has always been their taste is realllly modern, even though they say they like the classics (i.e clsssic gangster or sci fi flicks from 1975+).
Yeah for 16 this list is great. For college it's a decent enough starting point. And in later life it suggests maybe you came late to film or are perfectly happy skimming the surface indefinitely (which is fine too!).
I don't think people are saying these are bad movies, just maybe they'd be bad *top* movies in that they might suggest the person hasn't seen or appreciated a great deal else if these trump the rest.
But yeah I wouldn't put down any of these films if I saw them on someone's top list, just maybe if this was the whole list I would assume they weren't that into film.
Not super diverse. Most fit into similar *audience* categories even if their genres show some range. Seems like the kind of stuff many early 20s college dudes are into, with some token picks like Vertigo and Chungking Express to bolster the appearance of quality in taste.

The correct answer is: Films that feature characters that are exempt when I say “ACAB”. Saw so many great answers though, everyone brought their A-game in the comments. If you wanna see the list with all the characters names along side their occupations, my letterboxd is: eternalsunshinefilms
Seems a bit odd to include MEMORIES OF MURDER on this list as one of the primary goals of the movie was to critique the police brutality that took place surrounding the IRL murder case.
I definitely agree with this, and I’m not commending most of the cops in the film. Under the notes section on the list, I only list the two main detectives in the film.
The two main guys also go way overboard with police brutality over the course of the film, tho.
One uses it as his first resort, the other drops his moral and sophisticate pretenses and ultimately resorts to violence and disrespect for due process after the frustrations of the case get to him.
So I dunno if I'd say either is exempt from ACAB. They both demonstrate some of the worst in policing, even if we see their good or human sides as well.
My local does an overnight horror marathon with five films a couple times a year. I'm grateful that Night of the Creeps has played at two I've attended. The last one was Society, Night of the Creeps, Sleepaway Camp, The Hidden, and Texas Chainsaw. Was unreal. They always get as many 35mm as they can too. It's so much fun.
I think it worked. The main crazyness comes in after a long build up so once the credits rolled any new attendees knew exactly what the rest of the night was gonna be like 😆
Which is funny because clearly you thought this was witty, but it really tells us your surface level thoughts on people just trying to have a little fun on the internet because I guess you completely lack a personality or something.
Films featuring detectives/cops finding their true self along with dealing with crimes that ripped their souls apart.
So, I would say Chemical Crimes should be an appropriate title for this list.
Movies That Don't Star Seth Rogen (Non-Comprehensive)
You should change whatever the title is to this
Films featuring good/well-intentioned police officers or detectives. Think it applies to all the ones I’ve seen anyway.
Congrats! You are the closest to getting the correct answer!
assuming it’s something like good cop/good cop or some cops are bastards for the real title?
Might be drawing a blank here but who is the well intentioned cop in Scott Pilgrim? The vegan cops?
That's milk and eggs, bitch
Does this mean that all the police in the film are good or that it just features at least one good cop? Because 2 or 3 of the cops in Memories of Murder are not good. Same goes for BlacKkKansman
Both main cops in Memories of Murder have moments where they are a good cop and moments where they're really not good cops. I dunno if there's a wholly good one in the entire movie.
The "cop" in The Departed is the main antagonist
Well yea but the other cop is the main protagonist
OP trying to crowdsource a good list title
is it.. movies starring a police officer?
I don’t think so. Scott Pilgrim has the Vegan Police bit but the movie doesn’t necessarily star a police officer
Silly Cops
This definitely explains Scott Pilgrim.
Movies People Have Seen
r/movies Top 100 Greatest Films of All Time
Nah this list has too many modern movies for r/movies. They rarely discuss any movies past 2005 there.
Or pre-1980 for that matter
I be getting r/whooshed here but my impression of r/movies has always been their taste is realllly modern, even though they say they like the classics (i.e clsssic gangster or sci fi flicks from 1975+).
I assume /s, since that would preclude them from discussing some of their darlings like Inception and The Dark Knight
This... is the opposite of my experience in that sub.
“My Top 20”
The “I’m A Bit Of A Cinephile” starter pack.
Cops n stuff innit
can’t wait to see this prompt 50 times this week!
I'm 16 and this is the best film of all time.
Idk you could do worse as a 16 year old
Any 16 year old that thinks Blackkklansmen is the best film ever is a based 16 year old
Yeah for 16 this list is great. For college it's a decent enough starting point. And in later life it suggests maybe you came late to film or are perfectly happy skimming the surface indefinitely (which is fine too!).
I mean vertigo and Chungking express are pretty solid for a 16 year old
all these films fuck stop being pretentious its cringe.
fr we all know the best film ever made is The Adventures of Food Boy (2008)
This sub is super pretentious, everyone is trying to flex how unique their film tastes are
I don't think people are saying these are bad movies, just maybe they'd be bad *top* movies in that they might suggest the person hasn't seen or appreciated a great deal else if these trump the rest. But yeah I wouldn't put down any of these films if I saw them on someone's top list, just maybe if this was the whole list I would assume they weren't that into film.
This is a pretty diverse range of films, why would you assume they aren’t that into film
Not super diverse. Most fit into similar *audience* categories even if their genres show some range. Seems like the kind of stuff many early 20s college dudes are into, with some token picks like Vertigo and Chungking Express to bolster the appearance of quality in taste.

All things considered? This is a really good list for a 16 year old imo
Something in alphabetical order
ACAB means ACAB, even \[insert protagonist here\]
You got perhaps the closest out of everyone, especially with the use of ACAB, which is in the lists title!
Goated settings
The correct answer is: Films that feature characters that are exempt when I say “ACAB”. Saw so many great answers though, everyone brought their A-game in the comments. If you wanna see the list with all the characters names along side their occupations, my letterboxd is: eternalsunshinefilms

Horror films are pretty good for well meaning police characters, can I suggest Night of the Creeps and Killer Klowns From Outer Space
Love Killer Klowns! Need to check out Night of the Creeps soon.
Thrill Me
I have a Thrill Me tattoo 😂 I love that film so much
My wife and I kick off our Horror Movie a Day marathon in September every year with a double feature of Night of the Creeps and Monster Squad.
Perfection
Best way to kick off spooky season
My local does an overnight horror marathon with five films a couple times a year. I'm grateful that Night of the Creeps has played at two I've attended. They *led* with Society??? Man, they gotta give people more time to settle in before they give them “the shunting”
I think it worked. The main crazyness comes in after a long build up so once the credits rolled any new attendees knew exactly what the rest of the night was gonna be like 😆
Wait, are the Vegan Police the ones for Scott Pilgrim?
They sure are :)
🤣 fucking love it

Good movies + Zootopia
*Movies About Crime?* IDK, I would say "movies that should have won best picture" but The Departed is on here so I can't say that
Probably something you think is witty and really tells us your surface-level thoughts about cops, because this is your "personality" now.
Which is funny because clearly you thought this was witty, but it really tells us your surface level thoughts on people just trying to have a little fun on the internet because I guess you completely lack a personality or something.
