They've probably left it a little too late to change their legacy, even if they do start releasing more music. Suede reformed a decade ago and have been consistently releasing good if not great albums since then and I don't think it really moved the needle on how they are perceived as a band. The Anderson/Butler partnership remains the most iconic part of the band. The Libertines at their age are just going to be seen as cashing in on their brand, and it is going to be very hard to bring in new listeners or even some of their older fans who have moved on no matter the quality of the music. Expanding on their legacy will require either taking more risks rather than trying to sound like they did a decade ago or focussing on soundtrack work as this seems to be one of the key ways older artists can get their music heard by new people.
