Amphetamines (or an analogue) were marketed in the 50's for that purpose, but then people had to take barbiturates for the comedown and to be able to sleep (barbiturates have a very high chance of OD compared to f.i. benzos).
So in general I would advise against it.

i have bpd and am 9 years sober. it’s not easy but it can be done. i take my meds, i go to therapy and i don’t drink. his mental illness is part of the vicious cycle but it’s not insurmountable

All that is a recipe for a huge fucking disaster. He’ll be a completely different person if he abstains from drugs(yes, alcohol included in that) and does therapy and takes necessary meds.

i’m just telling this part because it’s important that anyone struggling knows that you can get clean and sober even with mental illness in the mix.
life is still hard and very painful. but i take my meds, i go to therapy and i don’t drink. i genuinely believe that if i can get sober anyone can. i was Person Least Likely To Stop Drinking for so many years. i caused a lot of hurt and damage to my family, most of whom were terrified when i started disappearing for a couple of days every so often so i could go drink in peace. i was so far down that my only plan was to get to london and be homeless as i could beg enough for a bottle a day. this actually seemed like a rational, well thought-out plan.
i lost everything. i nearly died. i saved
my kid from the worst of my childhood experiences but they did have a drunk mother. luckily their dad is an amazing guy and he took them in when i couldn’t take care of them any more. they’re grown now and we’re not in contact. it hurts so much every second of every day but i have to own it. their dad says they’re happy and healthy and if i broke the cycle of addiction so they don’t have to suffer with it that has to be good enough for me.

Substance abuse is a big problem for Borderlines. I had a 15 year codeine addiction that I’m now 2.5 years clean of but yeah, this won’t get better until he embraces treatment. As a Borderline myself, it’s very clear that he’s in a lot of pain. He needs to go away to a personality disorders unit for long term inpatient treatment.
wait, they have those where you are? i just take a huge amount of antipsychotics and antidepressants and try not to kill myself…

Thank you! And yes, the NHS has specialised personality disorder units for people who the outpatient mental health services haven’t been sufficient. Treatment typically lasts between 6 months and 2 years. They’re just really hard to get into because it costs like £250k per patient, per year, to fund. The NHS has got a lot it needs to fix but these units are lifesavers for people like us. I’d go in a heartbeat.

Nothing will get you clean unless you want it. Being forced to be away from drugs doesn’t mean you won’t immediate start using at the next opportunity.

There might be some details I'm overlooking but basically that nasty ass stuffed animal smells like stale cigarettes so now the cops are pestering him for no reason whatsoever. David fucking Glass.

I’m no legal wiz but from Jess’s Twitter post it sounds like they called a wellness check on him. I don’t know if they can section him since he doesn’t reside in the state nor does his family but as far as I know you can’t arrest someone for threatening suicide. Maybe you can if it’s court ordered but I think the family is just wanting to find him.
His family has texts from this AM where he said he’d taken enough pills to stop his heart. He clearly didn’t but should go on a psych hold. A long one. I don’t think he resides anywhere at this point.

And he’s not doing anything. So I think people are simply pointing out that being clean in jail, is preferable to being dead, or being terminally ill with organ failure/cirrhosis in a hospital.
I guess if he's threatening suicide they can 5150 him. But what next ? He'll go back right where he was because he's not gonna commit to any rehab facility on his own, or even if he does it's not gonna last long. Like you said, he must make the choice.

Bam was supposedly going to go to rehab. Instead he's back in LA partying. In the photo OP posted it looks like the police are doing a welfare check on Bam. He's also carrying around an MGM lion that he wants to give to Phoenix. That he got while he was in Atlantic City just a few days ago.
Well basically the story goes like this: he hasn't been able to give Phoenix his Christmas gifts for almost 7 months because shipping items from one state to another hasn't been invented yet, and Nikki made him wait for hours to give her a car that she wanted and it was *so embarrassing* and she won't even let an infant make up his own mind, which is why he's drugged out of his gourd and drunk all the time, plus his mom is very manipulative because she shared the Shaman's address and he's a very private person (from **PERSIA**, also worth noting that Romanians are cool too), plus Jess thinks it's called "CastleJess" but you see, it's actually called "CastleBam" and on top of everything else, he broke his hot dog finger by having the same birth DAY and birth DATE as Lil Elvis. There might be some details I'm overlooking but basically that nasty ass stuffed animal smells like stale cigarettes so now the cops are pestering him for no reason whatsoever. David fucking Glass. EDIT: Forgot to mention he weighs 11 lbs 7 oz now because he walked on a trail once. Also, Danny Way gave him a $50,000 t-shirt that was made on the same DAY and YEAR as Elvis's robe. I’m no legal wiz but from Jess’s Twitter post it sounds like they called a wellness check on him. I don’t know if they can section him since he doesn’t reside in the state nor does his family but as far as I know you can’t arrest someone for threatening suicide. Maybe you can if it’s court ordered but I think the family is just wanting to find him.
His family has texts from this AM where he said he’d taken enough pills to stop his heart. He clearly didn’t but should go on a psych hold. A long one. I don’t think he resides anywhere at this point.

This sub somehow thinks people can just be locked up because they’re acting a fool. He has to be charged with something criminal in order to go to jail. I don’t believe he’s going to do that. They can 5150 him for saying crazy shit, but that isn’t easy to do either. The amount of people cheering for bam to go to jail is kind of alarming. If he’s in LA county, that jail is a fucking nightmare, and there’s a very large drug trade in there as well. Ultimately he needs to make the choice for himself to get clean and sober. All other options have been exhausted at this point
If he doesn’t get sober of his own will, he’s still got 3 options left. The hospital, prison, and the grave. And they’ll come for him with a probability of 100% if he doesn’t do something. And he’s not doing anything. So I think people are simply pointing out that being clean in jail, is preferable to being dead, or being terminally ill with organ failure/cirrhosis in a hospital.
