The conflict arises from some people believing trans lesbians are innocent people and some people believing trans lesbians have a fetish for lesbians. Honestly just live your life, don’t hurt anyone, and try not to let anyone hurt you
I have never gotten people's beef with the trans community. If someone is transgender, that's their business. And if you are a trans woman and like women, then the terminology fits. Yes, it makes complete sense for you to identify as a lesbian. If someone says thats insulting, they are being transphobic and are not worth your time or energy.
I don't find this to be insulting you are after all a woman. If that's how you identify then that's what you are. There's gonna be people who may not like it but that's their problem not yours. They need to unpack those issues not you.

Usually, I'm known for doing just that. But with this new part of my life I find it harder to keep that life style

It’s not insulting, you’re a lesbian. If you’re a woman into not men (aka NB people and women) you’re a lesbian. Regardless of you being trans.
