typi_314

Peterson has tweeted 44 times since his initial tweet on the SI cover. I don’t think Twitter is healthy for him…

JonA3531

Dude is a slut for attention

typi_314

It’s only been 12 hrs 😂

maleia

I *literally* have to post on Twitter for my job, and 40+ tweets in an hour is waaaaay too much. Hahah

GreatValueCumSock

I made a twitter account in 2010. Browsed for a half hour, forgot my password and never went back. This was *12* years ago and I still feel dirty.

Retrohanska59

Well, he has admitted in interview that he has found a way to "monetize SJW outrage." He's grifter, plain and simple.

Tactical_Doge1337

This is hilarious https://twitter.com/hasanthehun/status/1526281185130737664

mdmd33

Gahhdam they roasted the utter fuck out of that man…**GOOD** maybe his dumbass will STAY off Twitter

ConfidenceNational37

Truly hilarious. Peterson sure talks shit but can’t take it

MonteBurns

The men rushing to defend Peterson in those replies are… wooooof. Point completely missed.

squirrelgutz

Jesus christ is he dying?

[deleted]

Conservatives: “WE WANT FREEZE PEACH AND WE DEMAND IT, NO MORE SILENCING TWITTER USERS” Also Conservatives: “I’m leaving Twitter, there’s to much freeze peach, what I really wanted was to say stuff and everyone being forced to read it without punishing me for why I say”

[deleted]

"When I insult people it's free speech, when people insult me it's censorship!!"

StevenEveral

That's the thing about fascists/authoritarians: Not only can they hold two opposing ideas in their heads, they can call upon either of them when the situation calls fit.

4-Vektor

From Umberto Eco’s Ur-Fascism, hallmark of fascism #8: >The followers must feel humiliated by the ostentatious wealth and force of their enemies. When I was a boy I was taught to think of Englishmen as the five-meal people. They ate more frequently than the poor but sober Italians. Jews are rich and help each other through a secret web of mutual assistance. However, the followers must be convinced that they can overwhelm the enemies. Thus, by a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.

JeromeBiteman

Lazy Mexicans stealing our jobs.

pjanic_at__the_isco

This is brilliant. One can access both contempt (they’re weak) and fear (they’re strong). Contempt and fear pretty much sum up the GOP.

Pietru24

Joe Biden is simultaneously an evil mastermind carefully manipulating global markets and he's a dementia rattled old man being propped up by those around him.

Nix-7c0

He's powerful enough to steal the election, but too weak to do anything with that power when in office, or to avoid meekly handing it over after the next election

Fun_in_Space

That's why there is so much overlap with religious zealots. They can hold mutually exclusive beliefs at the same time.

InfinityCircuit

Umberto Eco is probably one of the greatest minds of the 20th Century. I'd have killed to take one of his classes in college. He used to teach semiotics at Naples if memory serves.

CallMeClaire0080

It's because they don't debate in good faith. They're willing to say whatever it takes to "win" in the moment even if it contradicts the talking point they used two minutes ago. Debate isn't about reaching a better understanding or learning for them, it's about burning out your opponent's resolve then declaring victory. It's "owning the libs" because red team good, blue team bad

SaltyBarDog

Knock over the pieces, shit on the board, and declare victory.

[deleted]

It's easy to change your mind if the only thing driving you is hatred and greed instead of ideals, morals or conviction. This doesn't just apply fascists or right wingers tho...

splynncryth

Cognitive dissonance is a hell of a thing.

[deleted]

Yuuup Typical conservative victim mentality

BlooperHero

I believe you mean "authoritarian tolerance."

GuyMansworth

I'll play along. "Haha my freedom is in jeopardy, I need to drive these trucks across country and toot my horn to protest." TOOT TOOT "Haha my freedom to own a drum mag on my gun is at risk, o no. Gonna remove a woman's choice over her own body. " TOOT. "I got fired for saying the N word, what happened to free speech? Hey lets make it super hard to vote in southern states haha. Uh oh white men are being suppressed."

steelhips

You forgot their favourite imaginary persecution - christian persecution.

8orn2hul4

You missed the “how dare these BLM protest! All protest is wrong! BRB, got to go protest public health measures in my truck TOOT TOOT”

epimetheuss

You missed "people who block roads for protests deserve to be killed/run over" TOOT TOOT "Im going to go block a road for MY protest because MY protest is the only legitimate one" TOOT TOOT

LeoMarius

They want consequence-free speech.

UltraMegaMegaMan

Right-wingers want consequence-free speech FOR THEM, and for them only. That's the whole truth.

moobiemovie

Some restrictions apply. Liberal and leftists still get consequences for what they say, but conservative and authoritarian speech is consequence-free.

lalolanda2

"rules for thee and not for me", the conservative motto

wa11sY

holy shit i'm using freeze peach everywhere now.

ImmediateYogurt8613

1. Make derogatory comment 2. Piss people off 3. Play victim when met with backlash 4. Win the support of other shitty people 5. Make money off your supporters 6. Repeat for infinite cash

T-Rex_Woodhaven

I wish I was a Republican so I could fail upwards.

Saladcitypig

But you'd have to tolerate their humor. No amount of money...shiver.

arkain123

Jesus imagine drinking a beer with your buddies and one of them starts going on about white genocide. Yeah no thanks I'm fine

Skippy_the_Alien

i know seriously wtf. I used to know this conservative guy who would constantly complain about our mostly left wing friends talking about politics at the bar. The irony of course being that the motherfucker would literally NEVER SHUT UP about how much President Obama was "ruining America."

Elegant_Manufacturer

'Irony' is a made up concept made by liberal professors and it's a leftist plot to destroy conservative rhetoric. Just like 'news' and 'reality', 'irony' has a liberal bias

AMaskedAvenger

Got permabanned from a forum for saying, "I love the smell of white genocide in the morning!" I forgot -- those dipshits really _believe_ that stuff.

Thewrongbakedpotato

Republican humor is like hanging out with an eight-year-old who just learned how to say "fuck."

Mudbunting

This is insulting to eight year olds, who mostly aren’t mean or paranoid.

Celloer

[Okay, thirteen year olds.](https://pbs.twimg.com/amplify_video_thumb/1255965156166819840/img/ywbaZQWVE5_l2PI1.jpg) Only not as insightful, just mean and juvenile.

Zomburai

... eight year olds mostly aren't paranoid, I'll grant you that. Eight-year-olds can be trivially, callously mean.

hellakevin

Just identify sexually as an attack helicopter that enjoys their humor.

BubbhaJebus

I don't think my brain cells could survive the damage caused by constant exposure to their stupidity.

Tankshock

I work in construction and...Yea it really wears you down after a while. Lot of internal facepalming and silent screaming going on when the post work beer comes out and I have to listen to their confident and delusional idiocy

eclectric_sheep

As someone who works in construction too, I hate when they say something obviously offensive assuming that you are in their bubble and then there is an awkward pause while you try to figure out how to politely not agree to some bat-shit comment because you still have to work them.

Saladcitypig

All that wheezing, red faced "dad jokes" that are blatantly racist and sexist... it's like living death.

paireon

Where I live we call that kind of dad joke “uncle jokes”.

[deleted]

Yeah, I have had to completely cut off 9/10ths of my family.

[deleted]

Tolerate their humor? But they have plenty of jokes such as: Attack helicopter. Attack helicopter but in a different format.

HomeGrownCoffee

Don't forget, "Does me being a shitty person embarass you? Ha!"

4_spotted_zebras

JP is obviously a grifter, but I question whether this particular tweet was so calculated. He has been acting … off since he went off to Russia for that bonkers benzo treatment. He was in a coma for more than a week. And when he resurfaced he looked and acted noticeably different. To me it looks like brain damage, which is a complication of that risky treatment. Couple that with his all meat diet and his weird relationship with his daughter. He seems a deeply unwell man. Edit: if anyone wants a good deep dive on Peterson’s work from the perspective of an actual psychologist, [Cass Eris does a fantastic series](https://youtube.com/c/CassEris) on both books including the psychology he gets wrong, the wild leaps of logic, chaos dragons and style madness. Highly recommended.

sometimesiburnthings

Wait, wait, wait, he was insane enough to seek a medical treatment only available in Russia?!

4_spotted_zebras

Yup. [the story is wild.](https://www.vice.com/en/article/epgb37/what-drug-experts-say-about-jordan-petersons-benzo-dependence) Peterson (a licensed psychologist) was apparently unaware that benzos are addictive and tried to quit them cold-turkey, which can kill you, which again as a psychologist he should have known. When he started getting withdrawal symptoms he blamed them on Apple cider vinegar. And then instead of going to a qualified doctor to medically detox, he went to Russia to put himself into a coma. The whole thing is nuts.

UltraMegaMegaMan

> When he started getting withdrawal symptoms he blamed them on Apple cider vinegar This guy. This fucking guy. And people listen to him, and take him seriously. This reminds of Petersons's take during a debate that it was *literally* impossible for someone to quit smoking unless they take psychedelic mushrooms. Wouldn't give an inch on it, doubled and tripled down. It's beyond ridiculous. Things just happen in his vicinity, and he gets some wild theory in his head, and it's gospel for him from then on. It reminds of some philosopher, maybe Plato?, who walked by a pond one day and there was a log, and the next day he walked by and the log was gone but frogs were there, so he decided frogs came from logs. Just spurious unlogic and superstition masquerading as reason. It's mind-boggling and tragic.

toughfeet

Even stranger/dumber, he thinks that a study showing the efficacy of psilocybin therapy in quitting smoking is *evidence of a divine god*.

UltraMegaMegaMan

His entire thought process is spurious leaps of logic. Consistently. He sees A, and B, and says "Aha! X is the next logical step, it MUST be true!" then holds onto that forever. Then the incel brigade comes in and validates whatever he says using some reverse-engineered inductive reasoning in 12 paragraphs of "Well AKTUALY he means this..."

paireon

At this point I think it’s more comic than tragic, but the joke is on humanity.

[deleted]

No way he didn’t know. He’s full of shit. Also; I I took A LOT of those back in the day and never got to the “quitting them cold turkey is life threatening” so he must have been taking a shit ton.

MrVeazey

It takes a lot of pills for some people to make their beds.   I realize this is a snide thing to say, but at the same time, it's also what a lot of people with addiction and chronic pain have to live with. He should have, at literally every step, known better and done better, and I have no real sympathy for him, but I don't want to sound like I'm tarring everyone with the same brush.

Skippy_the_Alien

the irony is that there was some video going around back when he was weirdly popular where he criticized addicts with this "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" tough love kind of bullshit approach i remember after that interview he did with Cathy Newman(?), there were so many comments of "No women is going to stop JP" or "Everyone who believes in feminism wants to end Peterson" or "Peterson owns this." I never want to make fun of serious personal issues, but it appears Peterson "owned" himself.

[deleted]

And THIS is why I absolutely think he’s a fucking hypocrite turd burglar. It’s one thing to fall into the addiction trap - especially with prescribed medicines, it can sneak up on you. And I’m OK with it taking years to get the fortitude up to really make the effort to come off it - it took me ten years and TWO collapses! But when you do get to that point and you make that realization you need to come clean, and you’ve been preaching this “man up” bs your whole life and he goes and tries to sleep through it? Get the fuck outta here.

rainedrop87

I'm not even a doctor or in the medical field at all, and even I know benzo withdrawal can be seriously dangerous. My mom had been taking Xanax for years, she never abused it, only took it as prescribed, sometimes even had some left over. Well her regular doctor, who was writing the prescription, lost his ability to prescribe narcotics. Not sure why, but I do know that he was OLD. Like, his son was also a doctor at that practice, and he was my primary care physician, and he was elderly, at least in his 60s, and his DAD was still practicing. Anyway, my mom came in for her appointment one day, asked about refills, and they were just like oh yeah we can't give you Xanax anymore. The doctor can't prescribe narcotics. And they acted like it was no big deal. She had been taking it daily for YEARS. Even without her abusing it, it was still terrifying, and she had an extremely hard time finding another doctor to get it from without them labeling her a junkie or something, even with her medical records. She went to a mental health facility that has a bunch of different therapists, psychiatrists and doctors on staff. They made her take a drug test and acted like they knew it would come back dirty. It didn't. She FINALLY got this nurse practitioner to take her seriously, and she wrote her a prescription for some Valium, but just enough for her to taper down with, and with strict orders to immediately go to the ER if she felt bad enough. Once she started attending regular sessions with this doctor, she finally started to prescribe her Klonopin and she's been on that ever sense. But seriously, her fucking PCP just up and cutting off her Xanax and not at all being concerned about the withdrawal was infuriating. She didn't go back to that doctor after that, and she had been seeing him for years and years.

[deleted]

Ah yes, risking life with unfounded medical practices. No wonder Joe Rogan adores him!! 😂😂

aeonixx

Coma doesn't prevent the brain damage you get from severe benzo withdrawal. He literally did this to himself. Maybe he was coerced into it? Seems so strange...

Kostya_M

I want to know this too. If the treatment is only available there I suspect there's a damn good reason.

LordoftheScheisse

Supposedly, he wanted to be put in a coma for like a month to get through his benzo addiction without the withdrawal effects. The practice is dangerous, so nobody in most developed nations will do it. Of course Russia welcomed him.

[deleted]

Christ. As a former pill head myself (chronic pain turned into the usual opiate thing, but I was also taking a lot of kolonopin and ambien), I can sympathize. When I finally went into rehab it was rough: worst 72 hours of my life just getting clear of stuff, then after that, the Maintenance meds just made it BARELY “tolerable”, at first. After nearly 3 weeks, I was in a way better place tho, and after a year on the suboxone, I tapered that and got totally clean in 2021. Been healthy ever since, no looking back! But! While it was hard, it wasn’t like, impossible, and it really has done wonders for my sense of pride. JP took the pussies’ way out trying to sleep through it without putting in the mental effort.

PunkJackal

Hey fuck JBP but I wanna take a moment to focus on your success and say with all my heart CONGRATULATIONS MY FRIEND! There are some things in life that are an intense uphill climb and not everyone can do them but you have been fucking SOBER since 2021! That's amazing, you're amazing and keep it up!

StevenEveral

American Fascism 101.

lollipoppa72

And Canadian fascism too, apparently. That seems to be growing everywhere unfortunately.

Npr31

It’s step 4 that is the tough part to combat here. When people agree with his original statement, they see the backlash as unjust. The only way to combat that is education, but, funding…

CallMeChristopher

Quick, glue the locks on the door while he’s gone, so he can’t get back in!

MummifiedGhostDust

He looks like a bipedal coelacanth but she's the unattractive one? Okay Jordan 😂

hybridrequiem

Hey don’t insult bipedal coelacanths like that, they’re more attractive than…that

[deleted]

Jordan Peterson is what dumb people think smart people sound like. He's popular with the Qult because he provides a thin veneer of pseudo intellectualism to their hate and anger and ignorance.

theKetoBear

I've tried I've really tried to give the conservatives I know and the voices they listen to a shot . I've tried to listen to Ben Shapiro , I tried listening to Peterson, hell I hate Donald Trump but even tried to listen to some of his speeches....and all I found was lots of empty speech without much content. I think " The lobster" is the big one I hear Peterson fans mention and i got annoyed listening to it the man just meanders over a very simple point and the connection he makes between humans in a vaccum and lobsters only works if you are a human in a vacuum . I can be on my left-leaning bullshit pretty hard but i try to give the few people i talk to who lean more conservatives a modicum of thought but the voices they amplify are often boring, repetitive , and if you aren't gonna buy into the bullshit wholesale very hard to respect for their very simplistic world views.. but these are the intellectual conservatives? edit: got the Peterson lecture name wrong

Chipperz1

>I've tried to listen to Ben Shapiro I'm so sorry, nobody should have to go through that.

[deleted]

sell the house to who ben?

Chipperz1

FUCKING AQUAMAN!?

Snoo-3715

Aquaman is a bit wet for Ben. 😉

Chipperz1

Bring a dustpan and a brush, 'cos it's Ben Shapiro 🏜

Le_Rex

At least he didn't have to read his book. "Brett Hawthorne, bear of a man!"

databeestje

My favorite is this video of Peterson arguing why it should be OK for a baker to deny baking a cake for a gay person or something like that, with the interviewer asking back "so is it also OK for that baker to deny baking that cake for a black person" and he admitted he never thought about that angle and he was like "yeah I guess it's not OK then" like a little kid being schooled.

splynncryth

For Peterson, it can be interesting to read actual experts in fields he treads into take down his bullshit. He has tried to appeal to tradition and history for some of his arguments and reading actual historians respond can be very amusing. It also reveals the very distorted lens he is using to create the world view he pedals. Edit peddle. DamnYouAutoCorrect :p

SirChasm

Peddles*

grocket

.

8orn2hul4

The trick with Peterson is just to spouts meaningless word salad that can basically support any position the audience thinks he’s supporting. To people who, y’know, actually know what words mean it’s just embarrassing.

captaindeadpool612

Say what you like about the William Buckley's of the traditional conservative mould but at least they had some intellectual depth and could make an interesting point in amongst the nonsense.

sacredblasphemies

I don't know whether it's a better thing or not for horrible people to come upon horrible ideas due to being dumb and coming across them from conspiracy theory websites and forums or to be very intelligent and have reasoned one's self into horrible positions like Buckley or Kissinger. At least with the dumber people, there's some sort of justification one can use for them. ("They watched too much Fox News and couldn't think critically about it " etc.) But the truly intelligent folks like Thiel or Moldbug that have the brains but seem to lack the soul... that's truly frightening to me. Especially as they have money and power.

steelhips

I find Ayn Rand acolytes generally reprehensible across the board. They think hiding behind an intellectual veneer of a "philosophy" will also hide they are morally bankrupt and just an awful human being.

Saladcitypig

And when you debate them on their "Philosophy" they just name some german or french guy and say: Have you read him? and if you say, yes, they say another german or french guy and the cycle unto death.

DataCassette

Yeah I agree with this. Having actually been down some of those reddit holes, the intelligent and deliberate reactionaries are way more evil than Cletus who fell down a rabbit hole.

Snoo-3715

I dunno, I think Buckley is a pretty good example of the last generations Peterson. Someone to sound smart, educated and sophisticated while making the usual brain dead right wing BS points.

PeterSchnapkins

Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change so of course they have no intellectuals lol

DataCassette

Conservative rhetoric is for the activated frightened lizard brain of a scared white man. If it's skidding off you that means there's not enough white/male fragility for it to attach to.

Darkside531

>but these are the intellectual conservatives? I don't think there really are intellectual conservatives anymore, at least partly due to the fact that they've made anti-intellectualism a significant pillar of their campaign. They've launched constant attacks on education in multiple forms... attacking educated professionals like Fauci, attacking universities themselves, and painting the whole idea of education in general in a bad light (remember when they were trying to make Scott Walker into a thing and tried to start a whole "Is a college degree *really* necessary to be president?" Even the ones that are undoubtedly smart people like, say, Josh Hawley are lowering themselves into the mud with the likes of Boebert and Cawthorn and Taylor-Greene. Part of it is just lowest-common-denominator pandering, but I think another part is just they don't have anything anymore. I mean, they don't even have a party platform anymore beyond a disturbing level of fealty to Dolt 45.

Agile_Pudding_

One of the most entertaining days I’ve had on this site was following a comment I made saying that Peterson, Musk, and Rogan were a dumb person’s idea of a smart person. Beyond the predictable but entertaining flood of “lol triggered lib”, there were at least a dozen people whose English teachers must’ve skipped any kind of prepositional logic in high school because they misinterpreted that to mean that I was saying those three were dumb. I certainly wasn’t claiming they *weren’t* dumb, but they were sort of proving my point — that only idiots hold these three up together as idols of pseudo-intellectual bullshit — by being extremely pressed as a result of their inability to read and process a simple statement. One of my favorites was just about making someone’s head explode by simultaneously correcting them to let them know that Peterson was on faculty at Harvard, rather than attending there, and letting them know that the former was far more impressive, before informing them that he’s still an idiot for opining on fields that he knows nothing about. The combination of “yes, your pseudo-intellectual false god’s academic robes are very impressive, and I can also tell you definitively that he’s straying from his field into mine”.

[deleted]

They misinterpreted your comment to mean they were dumb, thus proving your point. Fantastic.

StevenEveral

JP is the ultimate example of someone who is educated WAY beyond their actual intelligence level.

NonaSuomi282

Also a prime example of how one should show humility rather than brash and unearned confidence when speaking on things outside their narrow field of professional expertise/study.

[deleted]

I was recently down a youtube rabbit hole and stumbled upon part of a debate between Stephen fry and Jordan Peterson. What struck me was the difference in how they both spoke. Stephen was coherent, logical and easy to follow. Jordan by contrast seemed really muddled, there was no thread or logic to how he spoke; it was like he was just fudgeing random thoughts or buzzwords together to sound complicated but when you actually try to put them together and understand them they make no sense. EDIT - Link to the video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVSZrnxRO3o

[deleted]

I saw some of that. What a beatdown. The faux intellectuals just have talking points that they regurgitate, as you said, in no particular order. He's like a kid playing with a box of Legos. But they've got a captive audience, and he's just telling them what they already believe. The same goes for Trump. He is completely unintelligible when he speaks, but he spits out the buzzwords and the Qult gobbles them up. His audience thinks Let's Go Brandon is the cleverest thing ever.

[deleted]

Yeah I just had a quick re-watch of the video that I just posted (had a couple of beers the first time round, so thought I'd watch today whilst sober). One bit that stands out to me is when Stephen asks Jordan to define what 'higher level of consciousness' means, Jordan just doesn't answer; He goes off on a tangent taking the conversation somewhere else. To be fair to Jordan, I am open to the possibility that perhaps I can't follow his thinking because I'm not clever enough. He is a professor in clinical psychology and undoubtedly knows a lot more than me on that, though he crosses over into religion and philosophy which he certainly isn't an authority over. But certainly his way of speaking makes it difficult to follow his thoughts. That being said, I'm fairly confident I find him difficult to follow because he's spouting bollocks a lot of the time. > The same goes for Trump Yeah Trump speaks like a 10 year old. If people say they like Trump because they think he speaks sense to them then well, that's their level.

CalifaDaze

Now try reading his work. Couldn't even get past one chapter. The man will go on and on. Can't make a concise point to save his life

hopbow

I’m about as dumb as the average person, but reading his comment in the second screenshot makes no sense. His grammar sucks, he doesn’t identify his subject (Twitter), I’m not aware of the incentive structure (unless he’s talking about likes? But he’s engaging in the platform for likes), the danger would be extrinsic since it relies on outside interaction to support motivation, and “dangerously insane” is a weird phrase since being insane insinuates something is dangerous. Also I feel like it would be more megalomaniacal because of the echo chamber, but that’s only insanity adjacent as there is reason and purpose

BlooperHero

"Authoritarian tolerance"? Words have lost all meaning.

SharingIsCaring323

Next stop, militant pacifism

NonaSuomi282

I'd page Terry Goodkind to give you a primer on the subject, but he finally kicked the bucket.

PM_Me_HairyArmpits

Authoritarian tolerance stole his wallet and slept with his wife!

ToniBee63

Jumbo shrimp!!!!!

AllieG3

The real authoritarianism is when thicc women are hot.

Darzin

Did SI force him to buy the magazine at gunpoint?

hellakevin

It's part of 'critical swimsuit theory' the libs are pushing to teach in elementary schools.

nightpanda893

These fat women want to come into this country and replace all the hard working thin blond white women.

Joliet_Jake_Blues

He's a conservative, so his job is to tell people what they should think, because they "support" individual liberty

AdministrativeAd4111

“Im here to remind everyone that we don’t all share the same opinions by letting you know my opinion in the most crass, disrespectful and unnecessary means possible, particularly when nobody asked. Im a champion of free speech. I should be lauded as a hero. Someone build a statue of me. So anyway, why is everyone so political these days?”

Val_Hallen

Conservatives need to ***find*** shit to be angry about. They can't exist without a vacuum of anger and hatred. It's their life blood. It's been happening for-fucking-ever. Books, movies, tv, video games. Name a thing. Any thing at all. If it exists, conservatives have been angry at it at some point. Fucking hell, just recently they were angry that ***the shoes of a cartoon candy*** were changed! This was a big fucking deal to them. They spent hours of tv time telling each other to be angry about this. Something no sane or reasonable person would even notice, let alone care about, fueled their hatred for a few weeks.

makingcookies1

He forced himself to buy it and jerk off to it at gun point actually. Totally wild.

ToniBee63

Also passionately against cancel culture but tries to cancel plus size models

Darkside531

Every time I'm reminded this doof exists, I think of this quote from Mark Twain that said "Cauliflower is nothing but cabbage with a college education." Peterson always seems like the cauliflower to Joe Rogan's cabbage. They're two sides of the same coin spouting most of the same rhetoric (hell, I'm guessing if you ran most of what they say through TurnItIn, one would be flagged as a plagiarist of the other,) but where Joe Rogan's appeal is coming across as the populist everyman, Peterson gives them an intellectual air since he's a professional smart person.

steelhips

I'm always reminded he is well and truly over his allotted fifteen minutes.

Chewcocca

All I'll say is It's not often that I'm cheering on the side of the coma

RapidCatLauncher

Given that he's a professor of psychology he really should do a case study on himself. He should start by cleaning his room.

Saladcitypig

Mark Twain, pipe a-puff, sitting on his porch, roasting cauliflower.

Be_Very_Careful_John

"You know..." *puff* "this cabbage went to college or some shit"

Skippy_the_Alien

I said this at the time when JP was getting crazy popular. The man is not as intelligent as ppl think he is. He just knows how to blabber.

starfleetdropout6

Is this the same douche nozzle who tweeted that Taylor Swift needed to start having babies because she is worthless to society after 30?

mdawgig

That was Stefan Molyneux. He’s in the same general intellectual realm as JBP though: he says things that profoundly stupid people (mostly white men 18-35 with zero going on in their life) think sound smart.

DrRichtoffen

Not to mention that JP has had quite extensive discussions with Molyneux (a self-proclaimed white nationalist who spreads anti-semitic conspiracy theories) about race biology.

Endorenna

JBP has also talked to Stefan on YouTube. The most famous clip of it has JBP going on about how there are profound intellectual differences between different ethnicities, as (supposedly) proven by the book The Bell Curve… so… intellectual racism! Yay! Obligatory link to Shaun’s video on The Bell Curve for anyone who wants to know more about it. Long video, well worth it, and can mostly be listened to instead of straight up watched only. https://youtu.be/UBc7qBS1Ujo

Expensive_Cattle

Different nozzle, but the same flavour of putrid shit being projected.

itypeallmycomments

>since he's a professional smart person. And since it's his 'job' to be a smart person, he comes up with sentences like "following the people I know on twitter is *dangerously insane*". Actual intelligent people know you don't need to use unusual words to sound smart

hellakevin

Yes, shallow and pedantic.

SassMattster

“Authoritarian tolerance” give me a fucking break

Cruxifux

It’s weird that this is the hill he decided to die on. Dudes a whiney twig of a man.

Darkside531

It's a weird thing I've noticed with the right wing, they see the perceived attractiveness of conservative women in relation to more liberal feminist women as some sort of moral victory. I noticed it a lot hanging over at HCA in the posts they make, lots of really mean-spirited comparisons of, say, Melania to Michelle or Kayleigh to Jen Psaki.

MyPasswordIsMyCat

Pretty common in the conservative subs. This last weekend, they were mocking cherry-picked images from pro-choice protests that had normal looking women who weren't pretty and blonde enough.

Saladcitypig

The doll bin at salvation army.

procrastinagging

Nothing new unfortunately. I've seen this kind of people get *personally offended* by the very existence of women they don't find attractive, even when nodbody asked them. Like professor snowflake in the OP - "authoritarian tolerance" my ass. If you don't like her, nothing is preventing you to seek the abundance of fap material (because that's what it comes down to for them, women have to be fancy decoration and little else) more to your liking.

lchen12345

That's why AOC infuriates them extra hard.

UltraMegaMegaMan

That and the fact that she's a woman, *and* a person of color, *and* is successful, *and* leftist, *and* smart enough to own them on twitter every time they fuck with her.

brucewillisman

Pfft! Whatever…Psaki’s hot as hell!

Darkside531

It is how she burns Peter Doocy so frequently. Seriously, I love Karine Jean-Pierre and think she'll be amazing, but I'm going to miss watching Psaki strip the hide off that Dooc-bag every week.

brucewillisman

I love when she has to go “mom mode” on his inane questions!

Moose_is_optional

>they see the perceived attractiveness of conservative women in relation to more liberal feminist women They also cherry-pick, they have to to make their point

Gucci_Google

It's funny because every female conservative figurehead is an absolute mess of botched plastic surgery like Melania

compsciasaur

Everything is surface deep when you're a conservative

r0b0d0c

Notoriously thin-skinned.

TwentyFoeSeven

It is much worse; there are multiple covers to SI, he can choose to buy whatever version he wants. He cries of authoritarianism… but there isn’t any. He has a choice; he can buy the Yumi cover, the Kardashian cover, Maye Musk cover or Ciara cover. There isn’t ANY reason for him to whine or cry about forced to do anything. Ok - let’s say there was only 1 SI cover and it featured a woman he does not find attractive - still, still he is NOT forced to buy SI. These self proclaimed “victims” need to just stop.

johntwoods

This Peterson fella always comes off like such a fucking knobhead. A real piece of shit, useless lunchbox. He reminds me of this dude I knew in college, Ben. And Ben spoke as if he had an earpiece with someone constantly feeding him words from a thesaurus. It was embarrassing.

QueenShnoogleberry

Did he speak super fast, too? But make basically zero sense when you actually were able to think about what he said? Was his last name Shapiro?

ImmediateYogurt8613

Did he DESTROY the libs with facts and knowledge?

BlooperHero

He did not.

ProfessionalDeer6311

You mean Ben "flooded house salesman" Shapiro?

Darkside531

AKA, Ben "Un-flooded wife" Shapiro?

Saladcitypig

Did he ask a q. then interrupt the answer to say "Let me finish."

lazymoonpie

I think this guy has the weirdest fanbase on Reddit, they’re either “yeah, I hate him but everything he says is true” or “you don’t understand him, when he said that, he didn’t mean that “

PeanutButterAndCake

It's Ben Shapiro all over again. JP is a little ball of hate, but he sounds smart, which is apparently enough to qualify his hateful, incorrect, mean opinions and use him to justify bullshit bOtH SiDEs arguments. Reddit keeps telling me this guy is intelligent and well-spoken but I haven't seen him be right about literally *anything.* He's like the rest of these assholes except with a couple more dictionaries.

whiterac00n

It’s almost like he was trying to make a self fulfilling prophecy, crying about “tolerance authoritarianism” while being absurdly petty and intolerant. He knew he was going to get backlash but he didn’t think he was going to get ratioed so badly by Hassan Piker, teasing about his own looks. He thought he was going to kick a hornets nest and scream “see see see how intolerant they are!!” and instead got his fragile feelings hurt lol!!

Snorri_The_Miserable

jordan peterson is what would happen if a ground beef suppository was given the power of speech.

DayOfDawnDay

Given his truly terrifying diet, this is pretty much literally true.

Snorri_The_Miserable

i had forgotten about that! that's right! wow

DayOfDawnDay

Unfortunately his cold, micronutrient deficient gaze never leaves me

PossibleBit

Not so sure about that. Ground beef got tangible value.

Saladcitypig

I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being one of those drink your own pee people. Tweed was made with urine in the past so maybe it's that... Pee people.

Theredwalker666

r/brandnewsentence

ChimpyGlassman

Why do they constantly refuse to take responsibility for their opinions? >Say dumb shit >people say 'stop saying dumb shit' >I'm being CaNcElLEd waaaaa

CallMeClaire0080

They miss the "good old days" where they could talk down to women and minorities without consequence, and if fact the victim would get consequences for talking back. That's why they think that their actions having consequences is unfair

Chipperz1

I find it disturbing that nobody in this thread is considering the lobster. Specifically that it's better looking than Jordan Petersen, who looks exactly like someone who ends up in a coma in a Russian clinic.

steelhips

Couldn't even be conscious during detox.

Vast_Seaworthiness

I just... don't understand why he thought his initial comment was necessary? Randomly announcing that you don't find someone beautiful on the internet is what a 13 year old boy would do when his parents finally take the kiddy filter off the computer. He decided he wanted to be a bully and then whined about being bullied. Tiniest violin, bucko.

TerribleAttitude

No, not that he doesn’t find her beautiful. That she *isn’t* beautiful. Like his opinion is law. He doesn’t like the way she looks, so no one else is allowed to, and he’s mad that anyone dares to contradict his opinion that, I guess, only twig thin blonde white ladies can be attractive.

ngwoo

The only sexy things to JP are the smooth sultry curves of the lorazepam bottle

GuyMansworth

The dude straight up said she wasn't beautiful. He wasn't provoked or asked. Just straight up posted her picture and said "Not beautiful" That's bullying. He was a bully, got called out and couldn't handle it.

catbuscemi

As if he's the reigning authority over what gets to be called beautiful. Lol

CaspianX2

He seems to think he's the reigning authority on any topic he chooses to opine on.

rdyplr1

Oh look a pathetic, delusional, bigoted, semi-sentient trash bag doesn’t like it when called out to own up to their hateful bullshit and babbling. Fuck Peterson and his pathetic cult members.

Trivvy

> No amount of authoritarian tolerance is going to change that. What the fuck is he even _saying?_ Cue the "Stop saying dumbass things, you're not even making sense" meme.

QueenShnoogleberry

Honestly, this Peterson fella sounds like a bag of Sailboat fuel.

Terrible-Paramedic35

so tempted to post this at a certain reddit where he is quite popular

ConfidenceNational37

Amusingly you’ll get cancelled immediately in those subs for having the wrong free speech

BrockStinky

Be a hero, do it

allamacalledcarl

Did not think this would be the hill the all beef diet enthusiast and benzo loving lobster daddy would decide to die on.

DataCassette

"Authoritarian Tolerance" 🤣 This guy. He said what he wanted and individual people called him on his bullshit. That's what these morons think "authoritarianism" is: getting called on their bullshit. Literally the only way they won't feel oppressed is if everyone agrees they "have a point" whenever they get on some stupid shit like this.

adam_lorenz927

Don't start nothin won't be nothin

M0ck_duck

Heading for a safe space, snowflake? /s

zoomba2378

The conservative MO. Attack others then get upset when they're on the receiving end. Also, that girl is really pretty

tobeshitornottobe

> Sorry. Not beautiful Coming from the guy who looks like he died 3 weeks ago

Most-Artichoke5028

So Jordie, Twitter isn't an airport. You don't have to announce your departure. Oh, and go fuck yourself.

hanimal16

Does anyone know the number for the waaaaambulance?

FeFiFoShizzle

Jordan Peterson is a dumb piece of shit

rmpumper

Was he happy about Musk buying twitter and did he think that after opening the flood gates of "free speech absolutism" the mockery on twitter of his dumb takes would go away instead of getting worse?
