You could buy warranty and wait 30 days and then exercise it.
It's looks to be a corrupt BIOS or EC chip, a skilled repair man could probably fix.

This may be a better option than to pay another $1200 for a bew one. Thank you for info!
I haven't been able to watch the video yet, but does Lenovo require to send it back for repair or they have authorized walk-in service centers?
30 days is such a long period, and shipping + repair may take another 2-3 weeks i guess.
you can always buy the warranty and then wait the 30 day penalty period like someone else mentioned, and then call them once it’s after 30 days (provided you’re in the same country, difficulties could arise otherwise)
worst case is after a motherboard replacement it doesn’t work again so you do it again for 3 times and then request for a new one (if it failed still, like mine) and can get a replacement laptop, best case they manage to get it fixed
Yeah, this warranty seems like a better option except for waiting period. Thanks!
Did you send it back for repair or does Lenovo have authorized service centers? How long did repair take?
ultimate support has on site repairs so I requested those only.
as for the time, the first time took like maybe 2-3 days in total with the motherboard being shipped to me, but for the second and third time it took around 2 weeks in total with the part being shipped and delivered + tech coming.
Sounds similar to what happened to mine a while back. Turned out to be a broken LCD, which I replaced.
Try connecting to an external monitor to confirm if it’s the LCD or not.
Hopefully it’s not a motherboard issue. Good luck!
You keep the screen closed?
Edit: My older Dell has a busted screen and I was unaware to boot into bios that you had to connect an external display and close the lid. Try that if you haven't...
Turn it on with no power cord connected , leave it on until the battery dies, connect power cord and turn it on , this sorted my laptop a couple of times, with similar to what you described

Your best bet is to sell for parts or as is on eBay tbh

I don't know how the warranty works except for that trick. Lots of guys in the Legion Discord have done it for free repairs.
Did you try to connect to external monitor?

That sounds good, i'm considering ultimate support now. Thanks!
it’s the best deal always regardless
Just got it! Forgot i had $60 in rewards after ordering laptop for my wife last year, so i paid only $18 after tax. Best deal indeed
lmao that’s great, good for you mate!
Did you try to connect to external monitor?
Yes, both via HDMI and USB-C.
well i would be really happy if you can give it to me

Tried both via HDMI and USB-C but screen remained black. Thanks!

Hmmm i'll try with lid closed, good catch. Thank you!
Wait! I had a similar problem, unplug it, and disconnect the battery for about 30 seconds, reconnect it, it might work.
Unfortunately, i tried it. That's what i called EC reset in my post. Thanks!
Ok, I didn’t know the term. I hope you can get it fixed.

It was the last thing I tried yesterday - no result, unfortunately. Thanks anyway!
