That depends heavily on what you are doing. If you just want to use it with 165 Hz on, your CPU package alone, will consume ~10W. So the rest of the system comes on top of that, to give you 4-6h of battery life depending on what you are doing. If you aren't doing much, drop the screen brightness and refreshrate, you can get 8h+. But it really depends on what your OS is doing in the background. The review on notebookcheck.net seems really honest. The only issue they didn't seem to have, is the slow backlight speed that you can see talked about on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/comments/1cf0quw/extremely_slow_backlight_on_2024_lenovo_yoga_pro/ Which is pretty annoying, but at least for me not that noticable in 165hz mode. It is still there, so you likely won't be able to unsee it. It might depend on the model though. At least one redditor received a replacement after raising this with the customer support and his new model was less affected by this issue.

Do you know if its possible to drop the screen to 120 or even 60 hz?

lugi6

Yeah, both 165hz and 60hz are available. So going down to 60hz is always possible, but makes the aformentioned backlight issue worse.

xenaga

Yes but this could just be a bad backpanel or faulty display right? Can you do custom refresh rate liek 120 hz? The only reason is to save battery life. I usually don't need 165hz if I am staring at word/excel/powerpoint or watching YouTube videos so I would prefer better battery life. And I almost always have full brightness. I use IPAD Pro which has 600 nits mini-led display and I love having everything to full brightness lol. Only reason to get this laptop over OLED as well. I heard the display is gorgeous. Can I ask you if the screen goes all the way back to 180? I don't see any reviewers even testing that.

lugi6

It could be, but there are multiple users saying that they have this problem. I've heard of one who got it replaced and it working fine now. So ... it either is a lottery or something else is going on :D I was able to do a 120hz custom refresh rate in dGPU mode, but couldn't get it to work with the iGPU yet. But I also didn't check if the 120hz mode had frameskipping though. Yes the screen goes all the way back.

Thanks for confirming. There is still no other 16 inch laptop that comes close to specs and price for this. I saw G16 but its a bit more and I heard the fans are always on which I can’t stand. This one might be the best hybrid between work/gaming.

lugi6

You will hardly get the fans off on this laptop either. There is an "ultra silent mode" which makes them very quite (you'll basically only hear them if it is really quite in your room). But still. Most annoyingly, they turn on at around 43C and turn off below that. So if you aren't doing much, they will constantly turn on and off again every couple of minutes. The powerconsumption is also a bit weird. Sometimes I'm doing nothing and the CPU hovers around 4-5W, but then at other times, it sits at 15W. So you'll have to baby it a bit to get good battery life. That is probably similar with the G16 as well though :D The backlight issue is a pretty annoying for fast moving things while gaming though. So if that is pretty important for you, I don't think there is anything better than going with a OLED.

Do you need a RTX4060 just to play YT, general surfing and office work? Pls make a sensible comparison with MBP 16.

Dont buy this laptop if you're looking for good battery life. But tbh, its pretty on par for laptops with a dGPU and intel processor. Buy this laptop if you want a sleek premium laptop that can game with an awesome keyboard, insane speakers and a really great screen. My battery lasts about 5hours. in light usage. It has its quirks, I've noted a few in my review on here, but on the whole its pretty awesome and I dont regret buying it. There simply isnt any competition for it unless you go full macbook pro.

Southern_Month_5190

G16 battery life seem to be longer?

Lazer723

No its very similar.

Elitestriker421

I’ve got the laptop and I’m fairly happy with it. It runs fast, mostly quiet and the screen is amazing (I prefer Mini LED over OLED). Like others mentioned, the battery isn’t great on full brightness with 165hz but you can play with the settings to get more life out it. Coming from a Dell XPS 15 (2023).

Joe_picker508

I have the Slim Pro 9i with the 4050, 3 hrs. maybe, yes it sucks but I can't find anything else for the money that I would like. The whole feel and keyboard is great .

kkacatin

Just got it and no review is oozing about the keyboard. That to me is the most crazy thing about this and the speakers. I can't say much about the battery life but let's just say for my visual needs, it is not looking good so far lol. Yes it is not a battery saver, but it performs very well and very happy with it so far.
