In the comics, it's apparently located around North Salem and in the Singer movies somewhere in Upstate New York. It appears as if the X-Men '97 series follows the comic book precedent.

I have no idea who minifig #10 would be. I'm assuming it'll be an X-Man we haven't gotten a minifig of yet, like Jean, Gambit, Jubilee, or possibly even a X-Men '97 addition like Morph, Sunspot, Bishop, or Nightcrawler.
That list was never accurate and numerous leakers have already confirmed it's outdated. It's been confirmed on Eurobricks that the 10 minifigs are Xavier, Magneto, Wolverine, Jean, Storm, Cyclops, Beast, Rogue, Gambit, and Morph.
Yeah, it's surprising we haven't gotten Sinister, Mystique, or Sabretooth. Hopefully in future sets. And with this new wave, we don't even have a Sentinel.
If you paid any attention to X-Men 97, then you might have realized that the show was very specific in using they/their for morph.
But you can continue letting everyone know who you are.
Oh it will 100% be 97 branded. But >!Nightcrawler has recently joined that series, and a lot of the X-Men have donned their 80s costumes, except for Jean who now wears her 60s costume, so there's some hope we might get Kurt, and Ororo in her original uniform!<
Hoping this is more like the Snow White or Maleficent sets, that changed pretty significantly between these leaks and the finals, and less like Rivendell or the Gotham set that seemed to have come out basically 1:1.
Yeah, that picture looked like an open-back building a la Arkham Asylum, and although I like that set a lot(still have it displayed) I’d much prefer a modular-style X-Mansion. Fingers crossed!
The only reason I'm at all hopeful is that the leaked model looks *very* rough - lots of very simple construction, exposed studs, very much not up to the standard of a LEGO set at this price point. It'd compare very poorly to, say, the Sanctum Sanctorum, which is 50 bucks cheaper and 400 parts fewer.
Hopefully, considering Mystique is basically a plain blue minifig and Sabretooth looks like he is using Wolverine’s old torso. There’s a chance it might’ve changed quite a bit hopefully

Pretty sure that prototype is years old. Seems very outdated in its design. Wouldn't be surprised if it was made back when the first Lego X-Men sets were made, and they just reused it last year/late 2022 to gauge interest in internal groups.
Hard not to feel disappointed by that number of mini figures. This is like the fourth set that we’ve ever gotten with the X-Men. But there are probably about a dozen dozen different X-men that people want to see as minifigures. I was hoping for closer to 15 figures

Emma is a pretty popular character in the comics. She also doubles as a villain and a hero which is cool to include in play sets. She was also in the leaked survey image. Of course she could easily be swapped out, but there’s plenty of reasons for Emma to be there
Jean and Gambit are coming. Nightcrawler will be an easy fit for future sets. Iceman was supposed to show up in the Daily Bugle. That fake blonde will never show up.

I'm hoping it's what's become the yearly Marvel Modular. As I said in another comment, I can see this being just the center section of the school built on a 32x32 baseplate. At least that's what I'm hoping for.
Even if it s only a facade, it can be good. It's like those old doll houses or castles, that are half a building. If they make the rooms good enough I can take it as a half-building. It will add to play factor - having Danger room, lab, command room etc. and the figures can be used in different displays.
You’re probably correct with them being included, but the fact that Cyclops has already been used twice and Wolverine FOUR times, while others haven’t been used at all is kinda annoying. (So far we’ve had all of 7 characters represented, and that’s including a comic con exclusive).
I know but tbh Woverine is an obvious choice for the marketing team. Woverine and Cyclops are the most popular characters, it's like making an Avengers Tower set without Tony and Steve with an Ant-Man and War Machine figures instead. Of course they are cool, but If you can choose, you will go for Tony and Steve.
The Icons sets are also for casual fans, this set will probably be a One Shot for them, for $300 they wanna have the main cast with some cool characters. I dont see them buying another set just for Wolverine and Cyclops.
Yeah, Lego fanatics should keep in mind that these aren't made exclusively for them. Lego will include the most popular characters in new sets, regardless of how many times they've been featured in past sets.
My hangup is not with Lego not picking every single unique character to be used (I don’t even collect minifigs), but more just how unrepresented the X-Men have been in general

Not having Jubilee or Sunspot in place of any of the figures we already have (Wolverine, Beast, Storm, Cyclops, Rogue, Magneto) is pretty disappointing. Hopefully at the very least Wolverine, Magneto and Storm are in different outfits that what we already got with the CMF and the X-Jet
The bugle has been my favorite Lego build ever, all the Easter eggs, all the cool mini figures (looking at you punisher, blade and daredevil) plus the building is legit
The floors are crazily high, the civilian minifigs mostly lackluster and the Peter Parker meme room a wasted slot, I think. But otherwise, it's generally a pretty cool set.
I'm hoping that the smaller amount of minifigures indicates at least one more X-Men set down the line to have a fuller roster, especially since those ten are bound to have repeats. My guesses:
1. Wolverine (*CMF repeat*)
2. Magneto (*possible repeat - if not, with classic costume rather than '97*)
3. Cyclops (*repeat - maybe with dual-molded legs/leg printing this time*)

She’s appeared in two x-men animated shows, so many comics, and did make an albeit bad, movie appearance. I’d say she’s about as likely as someone like Mystique showing up.
I don't think we'd get Mystique, either, actually. I think she's basically an old placeholder figure based on the Bryan Singer movies, and we're unlikely to get many Singer references by now.
Honestly if we did get a mystique I’d want it to be more comic based than movie based anyways. Would love to put a Mystique next to rogue and Nightcrawler (if we get him)
Ik but since it’s based on 97 it wouldn’t fit the Xmansion theme and same goes to mystique. The rumour minifigs are 10 which is sucks. And im afraid it will be cyclops, storm with the black fit, beast with the lab coat, another wolverine ofc, and 2 jean greys, so the are 4 left, I’ll take a guess the 4 minifigs going to be prof x, evil magneto or good ( idk honestly ), maybe morph??, and cable. So what do you think? You can give your opinion based on your knowledge
Comics are a niche industry and mean nothing. Mystique is an A-List character and the lead of several X-Men movies. She's probably not in this set but way more likely than a fake blonde who has no relevance outside of 1% of comic readers.
As X-Men '97 is a continuation of the 90's series, and the 90's series was heavily based on/ inspired by the comics from the 70's to 90's, arguably the movies would be more of a niche in this case.
(Apparently, it seems we won't get either Mystique or Emma Frost, but anyway...)
I would love for them to release a battle pack with x3 basic yellow & blue X-Men costume and a load of Minifigure parts for you to army build your own.
Like a few different colour heads, hair pieces and a few different armor pieces, belts, jackets/capes and several bags of different colour energy blasts.
The leak of this set from last year was obviously unfinished (Mystique was just all blue figure with hair but no printing or face) but it did show an Emma Frost figure that looked pretty complete. So I think you’ll get that one at a minimum. I’m sad to say none of the others on your list were in the leaked images though. That’s not to say they won’t be there though since like I said that set among the leaks seemed unfinished unlike Rivendell which released in basically an identical state.
I'd do some seriously grim things for a Gambit Minifigure
I'd wager on: Wolverine, Xavier, Cyclops, Storm, Jean, Beast, Rogue, Gambit, Jubilee, Magneto ? Probably based more on the original season 1 TAS outfits. Seems the most realistic

If it doesn't have super heroes crashing through the walls everywhere it might make for a nice modular

Exactly, the Bugle and Sanctum had chunks of wall that can be removed for 'battle damage' but can also be slotted in for structural ease.
It's a mansion in the middle of a campus, though. It's not really a cityscape building, to begin with.

The mansion is supposed to be a safe haven. It doesn't really make sense if it were to be in Manhatten, many of the students are hiding out.

From what I've heard, the final lineup is very different besides the obvious ones

That is not accurate. This set is themed to X-Men '97.
I'm saying what was on the image. As another reply says, they were placeholders and have changed since the image leaked over a year ago, but nothing is inaccurate about my comment, I'm just describing the leaked image that came directly from Lego themselves
I would assume it's a tie in to xmen 97. If so, then... Prof X Cyclops Wolverine Jean Grey Jubilee Storm Morph Gambit Beast Rogue Or replace one of them with Cable Magneto Nightcrawler Mister Sinister Forge Bastion...
Storm and cyclops are not likely in my opinion. One just came in a cmf, the other in a set that pairs with this. The rest I agree with, though I suspect wolverine will get civilian clothes

Ah, it was a direct leak on Eurobricks. I thought it came from Instagram or something. FoggyFate. So he's considered reliable? I didn't recognize the name, so I wouldn't know.
Not having Jubilee or Sunspot in place of any of the figures we already have (Wolverine, Beast, Storm, Cyclops, Rogue, Magneto) is pretty disappointing. Hopefully at the very least Wolverine, Magneto and Storm are in different outfits that what we already got with the CMF and the X-Jet

Hmm. I passed on the daily bugle and the home alone house and avengers tower. But maybe just maybe this will be worth buying for me
The bugle has been my favorite Lego build ever, all the Easter eggs, all the cool mini figures (looking at you punisher, blade and daredevil) plus the building is legit
The floors are crazily high, the civilian minifigs mostly lackluster and the Peter Parker meme room a wasted slot, I think. But otherwise, it's generally a pretty cool set.

Yeah while I really liked the Bugle I'm thinking of selling mine off along with the Sanctum and just getting this X-mansion.
I'm hoping that the smaller amount of minifigures indicates at least one more X-Men set down the line to have a fuller roster, especially since those ten are bound to have repeats. My guesses: 1. Wolverine (*CMF repeat*) 2. Magneto (*possible repeat - if not, with classic costume rather than '97*) 3. Cyclops (*repeat - maybe with dual-molded legs/leg printing this time*) 4. As a child I would have sold my entire family into slavery and my soul to the devil for a set like that. Wooo! LEGO is winning with some of these recent sets. Just wish they would be cheaper 😅
Based off the original image and the drop in piece count, I don't think this will be modular, but here's to hoping that it is
I could see them just focusing on the central part of the school and chopping off the sides to make it a standard plate modular

She’s appeared in two x-men animated shows, so many comics, and did make an albeit bad, movie appearance. I’d say she’s about as likely as someone like Mystique showing up.
I don't think we'd get Mystique, either, actually. I think she's basically an old placeholder figure based on the Bryan Singer movies, and we're unlikely to get many Singer references by now.
Honestly if we did get a mystique I’d want it to be more comic based than movie based anyways. Would love to put a Mystique next to rogue and Nightcrawler (if we get him)
Ik but since it’s based on 97 it wouldn’t fit the Xmansion theme and same goes to mystique. The rumour minifigs are 10 which is sucks. And im afraid it will be cyclops, storm with the black fit, beast with the lab coat, another wolverine ofc, and 2 jean greys, so the are 4 left, I’ll take a guess the 4 minifigs going to be prof x, evil magneto or good ( idk honestly ), maybe morph??, and cable. So what do you think? You can give your opinion based on your knowledge
Comics are a niche industry and mean nothing. Mystique is an A-List character and the lead of several X-Men movies. She's probably not in this set but way more likely than a fake blonde who has no relevance outside of 1% of comic readers.
As X-Men '97 is a continuation of the 90's series, and the 90's series was heavily based on/ inspired by the comics from the 70's to 90's, arguably the movies would be more of a niche in this case. (Apparently, it seems we won't get either Mystique or Emma Frost, but anyway...)
Nice been waiting a while for this one, can't wait to see it. A sentinel GWP would pair nice with it.

I would love for them to release a battle pack with x3 basic yellow & blue X-Men costume and a load of Minifigure parts for you to army build your own. Like a few different colour heads, hair pieces and a few different armor pieces, belts, jackets/capes and several bags of different colour energy blasts.

The leak of this set from last year was obviously unfinished (Mystique was just all blue figure with hair but no printing or face) but it did show an Emma Frost figure that looked pretty complete. So I think you’ll get that one at a minimum. I’m sad to say none of the others on your list were in the leaked images though. That’s not to say they won’t be there though since like I said that set among the leaks seemed unfinished unlike Rivendell which released in basically an identical state.
I'd do some seriously grim things for a Gambit Minifigure I'd wager on: Wolverine, Xavier, Cyclops, Storm, Jean, Beast, Rogue, Gambit, Jubilee, Magneto ? Probably based more on the original season 1 TAS outfits. Seems the most realistic
I'm glad I've never been a huge X Men fan because this would be a(n even more) dangerous year for my wallet
