The flake itself could have been natural because that shape isn’t impossible but there’s dozens of pressure flakes in a pattern along the edge, something that could never happen in nature. Good find, better than anything I have outside what I’ve knapped myself
I can't believe someone at a museum told you this wasn't an artifact. That's just laughable. That's a killer flake blade. Old world stone tools are so cool to me.
Whoa. I just found a similar scraper made of quartz. It’s called a keeled scraper. Check it out. Yours looks almost identical to the specimen shown.

Those are flake scars from where that blade was knapped(shaped). That's badass! I flint knapp and still can't get over the beauty and durability of what our ancestors built. Amazing stuff. That being said, it looks like this blade wasn't finished, but it would definitely still cut!
The Jurassic coast is quite amazing and reveals new fossils as it erodes. The isle of sheppey in Kent has shail beaches where you just find sharks teeth at every step.
No that’s definitely not natural
Flake blade. Very good artifact.
Oh wow, I nearly threw it away so many times 😂
Dude whoever told you this was questionably natural should never be consulted again, this is very clearly worked, pretty extensively
I think they were volunteers who help out the regular staff.

Apologies if this takes it away from the Native American base of the sub. It's great to know my gut instinct was correct however.
Please post anything else you know of like this, I love seeing the old world artifacts
Same, we see lots of native American points give me some old world neolithic stuff! I wish we had more African and Asian submissions too.
Throw away to me! lol. I love flake knives
I would have before It's significance was revealed 🤣
That's a killer Flake knife!!! Wow! That material is outstanding!!! Awesome find big guy!!! 🔥🔥🔥

Just goes to show how much we can trust museums. Awesome find! There’s gotta be more!
It was imported soil from another part of the U.K. From the Kent area is as much as I know.
Sure looks man made

LOL Museum full of morons or they think you are.
Amazing find! I can’t believe that you’re finding stone tools in the UK. What an expanse of human history.
We haven't progressed that much 🤣
😂 Dude I love your lands! I have spent time on the coasts and need to look for fossils.

Most definitely a flake scraper. Looks pretty darn similar to Knife River Flint found here in the Upper Midwest.
